Cast of Characters: Lara Croft, Danger Girl

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara Croft had invited her friend to meet her at the restaurant and she'd saved them a pretty good table in the corner of it.
She'd texted Abbey to make sure that she was on her way but had otherwise just sat back and relaxed and waited... Lara had had a busy day, she was tired... she'd ordered some apetizers but had mostly just sunk down into her corner of the booth and had her eyes closed and her arms crossed over her stomach. The Waitstaff knew she was waiting on her friend so they were mostly just leaving the young woman alone.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase was on her way but... traffic. She did arrive but about fifteen minutes later than intended. Stepping inside she spoke to the hostess and smiled in thanks as she was directed over to the booth. Making her way across the restaurant, she slowed as she neared her friend, "Hey... Sorry I'm late. Traffic was so much worse than I expected." Sliding into the booth's other side she inquired, "Bad day? Just long?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara's eyes opened when she suddenly heard Abbey's voice, she sat forward then and reached up to rub fingertips against her groggy eyelids and then she smiled to the blonde. "Kind of." She said quietly and softly, though her smile grew larger. "But nothing that I can't handle."

"Glad you made it." She motioned across the table. "I took the liberty of ordering you a drink, I convinced the waiter that you were of age." Lara then showed a sly grin.

Lara reached out for her own drink then and wrapped her hand around it to lift up and sip from it. It had alcohol in it, cause it was one of those days.... which was RARE for the young Croft.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase watched with a little concern as Lara brought herself back into focus. "There's very little you can't handle, Lara. That was never in question" she softly chided.

She laughs, "You're also very skilled, Ms. Croft." She looks to the drink and takes a sip. "Oh. It's strong. Perfect!" she proclaims. "So.. what's going on, hmm?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara showed a smile at Abbey over what she said and then folded her forearms atop one another while she watched the other take a sip from her drink. "A friend of mine has re-surfaced, after disappearing mysteriously this past summer." She explained.

With a heavy exhale then she continued. "I guess he had slipped away back to China, where he... recovered... a stolen artifact that he has brought with him back here."

Lara glanced at the Waiter was he was dealing with a table two over from them.

"We were attacked, in the West Side... by some mean wanting to take it back. I had to shoot three of them." Lara shook her head softly. "Its all just been, rather taxing. Stress." She tried to smile again then.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase listens and nods. She's curious. Morbidly so however she isn't about to pry. A nod. "I understand. It's a dangerous life, searching for artifacts the way we do. There're so many cutthroat dealers and collectors who don't care who gets hurt or killed in order for them to get their hands on whatever tchotchke or artifact they're obsessed with. And sometimes we have to protect ourselves and our friends. I'm sorry you had to, but I don't regret that you did."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara would sip her drink and then set the glass back down while she nodded her head at Abbey's words. "Precisely." She replied softly before rubbing the back of her neck with her right hand, beneath her brown hair that was draped back there. "But we have the items still, so... they're out of luck." A small smile was shown then. "I had to flash my SHIELD status though, to the police, which I strongly dislike doing... It makes my employer antsy as well, since there was a body count involved.. in Manhattan. They particularly dislike it if people are killed within the city."

Lara shrugged her shoulders then. "But... I had to do what I had to do. It was me or them. I chose me." Another litlte smile was shown then.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase listens and nods. "I understand. But at least you did it in the line of work, right? Does SHIELD put you on leave like the police after a shooting? Or are you closer to James Bond?" she asks half curious half trying to make Lara laugh.

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara laughed softly and she shook her head at this question while she stirred the little straw in her drink. "I've never seen a James Bond movie, so I'm not entirely sure... But no, I'm not on inactive status. I probably would be if something else happened of the same ilk... but, hopefuly that won't be the case."

When the waiter arrived to take their order, Lara ordered a simple rice and chicken dish.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase nods. "Good. I don't think it would do you any good to be stuck pushing paperwork. It's not your style." She paused as the server arrived, asking for an order of extra spicy shrimp and rice. THen she looks back to Lara, "Well if they didn't succeed? Do you know that one of them was behind it? If not? wouldn't that mean whoever was could just hire more goons and do it all over again?"

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara nodded her head then at this question. "Yes, and thats a high likelihood, which is why there are SHIELD agents parked outside of my home now."

She'd just release a heavy exhale then. "I've considered transfering to London. Going back to my roots, to get away from this for a time... But my friend, who's after all of this? He swears its for the betterment of the world, he says these artifacts will destroy civilians if they fall into his enemies hands." Lara just sighed then and smirked. "How many such items can exist in this screwed up world?"

Lara wadded up a napkin and tossed it to the center of the table near the bottles in their little metal holder.

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase listens. "Sounds like your friend's got a bit of a boy scout in him." She shakes her head, "Can't imagine what you'd see in someone like that..." she teases. Probing a little. A grin on her face. "Is he cute?" She ducks away thinking the tossed napkin was going to be aimed at her. It probably was if Lara'd held it a second longer!

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara showed a smirk at the woman's questioning line. "That depends." She asked then. "On whether or not you find a Mutant who's mutation has been him being transformed into the embodiment of a half-man-half-leopard hybrid." She then showed a smirk at Abbey. "But I'm rather certain I know you're answer to that."
Lara would shake her head then and exhale. "It'll be fine though." She corrected herself. "_I_ will be fine though. Once I get through this week, the next will be easier. It always goes like that, until the next 'event' presents itself at least."

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase looks innocent at Lara. "Hey.. I've met my fair share of wild men - and women - in this business. After our trip to Mexico? I'm done with large cats. Half-man or not." She then quips slyly, "The wrong half wouldn't be human with my luck.. so I'll pass!" she then nods, "well you shouldn't be alone. You should go stay with friends. Stay with me. Or have someone come stay with you. You don't have to sit alone through any of this."

Lara Croft has posed:
Lara showed a smile at her then and she softly nodded her head. "My father's company has a building here in Manhattan too... on the Upper East Side. Its a skyrise." She drew in a breath. "I've spoken to the man who's in charge of operations. He said I could use one of the suites there for now also. He's a good man, cares about my family's name in that old world style that is woefully absent from society today." Lara showed a smile at Abbey then. "I wouldn't want to have your place raided by... ninjas... of all things."

Danger Girl has posed:
Abbey Chase replies wryly. "It wouldn't be the first time... ninjas are really annoying, y'know..?" She grins and finishes her meal. "But.. as long as you're safe, that's what matters. You need peace of mind."
