The Odyssey
Date of Scene: 05 November 2017
Location: SHIELD Helicarrier The Odyssey
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Nick Fury, Super-Man, Melinda May, Quake

Nick Fury has posed:
The pride of the new, advanced SHIELD Helicarrier fleet. The ODYSSEY! New, pristine, advanced, with human and alien technology all rolled up into one mean machine! She even still has the new "car" smell through out, from the launch bays to the research labs. She was an incredible ship, with the latest stealth technology.

Standing on the bridge at the command centre, with his hands behind his back in a perfect "at ease" military pose, is General Nick Fury, Director of SHIELD. His back is to the main entrance, and his eye is looking out at the main window, watching as they accelerate for their latest shake down cruise.

Fury is in his SHIELD uniform, no "spy" type outfits today, and he seems to be perfectly serene and centered...for a change.

The two large screens in front of them are scrolling the latest tactical information on one, and the current status readouts of the Helicarrier on the other. It was an incredible amount of information. A voice in the "PITT" calls out, "She's good to go Director! Ahead 300 kph. All systems nominal. She's purring like a kitten. Sir!" The female voice says, strong and steady.

Super-Man has posed:
Kenan is on the new Helicarrier, he is wearing his costume because he is not yet officially any rank in SHIELD. As Chaoren, his costume is a statement...but it is also a defense. Because if his limitations, he needs that defense more often than he likes to admit.

He comments, "A most impressive craft, it must take considerable resources to build even one...and you say you have a fleet ofthem?"

Melinda May has posed:
Standing farther back on the bridge, May waits as the Odyssey starts her maiden flight. She's been on deck for at least one other helicarrier start, so it's really not that much of a thrill to her. But still, she's here in case something goes wrong. Or more accurately, in case someone decides to take a potshot at the enormous new aircraft.

Quake has posed:
Agent-in-Training Skye Johnson (or so she's shifting her thoughts of herself in that direction, instead of 'Daisy') is only here because she was made to come. /Not/ that she wouldn't have come under other circumstnces, but after her recent tiff with Agent Romanoff, the girl was back to her newly arrived state of surly and recalcitrant, with no small measure of stubborn to boot.
The only thing she's got even a small measure of interest in or excitment about are the computer systems. And those she's not sure she's going to get her hands on. Which leaves her hovering at May's side, the perfect picture of woebegone, hard done by teen, with a few years added on for good measure.
"I'd rather be shopping," she mutters, which for those who know her at all, is a large statement on her displeasure at being made to attend.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury concentrates on the right screen for a minute, tapping it lightly, once, twice, three times. With a nod, he smiles slightly, and sets the course that they would take today. Heading...Atlantic Ocean, down the Eastern Seaboard. Those with good eyes can easily spot the course change

In the "PITT" a navigator and a helmsman acknowledge the command, and the "XO", the female voice you heard earlier, acknowledges with an "Aye sir. Course change input acknowledged."

Turning to look over his left shoulder at the new arrivals, Fury nods, and says, "We may have one or two of them. Nothing like the ODYSSEY though, Mr. Kong. She's...unique. So far.

Fury looks at Kenan, and says, "Hmmm. Still not in uniform yet? Haven't you been issued one? You are going through our training plan...correct?" Fury says, his eyes finding May's.

"What do you think Agent May? Is he good enough to be one of our Level 1s, to start? You are our Training Guru, so to speak. Your word is law."

That was when Fury notes the other new arrival on the bridge. "Ah, Agent Skye. I was looking forward to your debriefing on our other incident. I have heard you have done adequate work so far. Welcome to the ODYSSEY."

Super-Man has posed:
Kenan responds, "I attend training sir, though I admit I have to utilize my special abilities to keep up with advanced skills like those of Agent May and Agent Romanov. I have long practiced Ti Chi, but mainly for exercise. There is considerable difference between combat and exercise uses of the skills. My defenses are adequate, but taking the offense against some of their skill would quickly be self defeating." Kenan tries to be honest about his strengths and weaknesses.

He adds, "I did some training with Agent Rogers to work on my reluctance to use my powers against team mates."

Melinda May has posed:
"Just waiting for the paperwork to go through, sir," May tells Fury. She doesn't add anything else to that, even if she and Fury had already had a conversation earlier. Skye's surly little comment is flatly ignored, because the young woman might be grouchy right now, but she does not need to spread that grouchy to everyone around her. If she had not read the young woman's file, she'd seriously consider accusing her of being mentally stuck in the 10th grade.

"How did that training go, Kong?"

Quake has posed:
There's a bristle of indignation from Skye at Director Fury's offhand comment about her skills. "Adequate? Adequate work?" She scowls, the gesture etching a line across her forehead that threatens to become a permanent fixture. "Why I bother I don't know."
Her mutterings aren't exactly pitched to carry to anyone or anywhere on the bridge, but as such places are, the accoustics may carry the complaints regardless.

Nick Fury has posed:
The Helicarrier crew works with cold efficiency as the Director turns his attention to those on the bridge that did not have a post. The raven haired XO takes over, as Fury turns his attention to Skye, Kong, and May.

"Excellent Mr. Kong, excellent. Agents May and Romanova have spoken about your abilities and have stated you would be a good addition to any powered Agent unit we would field." He pauses, as he walks closer, standing so only the three of you can hear him.

"Agent Rogers also gave me an assessment of your abilities. All three can help you hone your skills to become an effective Agent, so we will provide you with a security clearance that befits your training with us...Agent Kong." Fury nods.

Turning to nod at Agent May, Fury says, "Understood Agent May. As efficient as always. Glad I can always rely on you." Now that was high praise indeed! Fury must be in a good mood. It must be the Helicarrier. It was, after all, his baby. His and Agent Hill's.

Fury looks at Skye for a moment, as though assessing her. His eye looks at her, and he frowns. "An adequate job, yes." A pause. "Agent Johnson, you do great work. However you are...volatile. Some of our best Agents are like that...but they temper that with self control. Take Agent May for example."

Fury doesn't say that he was also "volatile" but it was explicit in his tone. May could easily pick that up, as she knows him well.

Super-Man has posed:
Kenan says to Miss May, "About how you would expect, I could not do an effective attack physically without him turning my strength against me...though we had not yet gotten to any of my higher difficulty abilities. My defenses remain better than by attack abilities, when it comes to close combat."

Melinda May has posed:
May nods to Fury when he comments on her having submitted the paperwork already. He really IS in a good mood right now. Well, unsurprising. The Odyssey has been a work in progress for a while now.

"We can keep working on that, Kong. It's a learned skill." And one he clearly needs to work on learning. But they have the luxury of time. "Now, about Agent Skye, Director." She leaves that statement unfinished, making it seem ominous.

Or maybe that's her usual lack of obvious inflections.

Quake has posed:
Skye's scowl remains as May's dry intonation brings her up into conversation, past Director Fury's commentary. "I know. Make nice. Behave myself."
A forced smile is given as she nods the Director. "Heard and understood, Sir. Though I'm sure we didn't hire me for my sunny disposition." Which is not only true, but funny, as she very often /does/ have a sunny disposition. Just of late, nerves and other matters have left the young woman unsettled. That and the small matter of having her very small advances towards another be thrown back in her face.
Quieter, "Don't worry, Agent May. I'll be talking to her."

Nick Fury has posed:
The hum of the crew in the background at no time distracts the Director from his chat. Everything ran easily without him, like a well oiled machine. Everyone on the Helicarrier was the best of the best, and were proud and eager to take out the newest ship in the SHIELD fleet.

Listening to Kenan talk about his abilities, Fury absorbs it all, like a sponge. Nodding, Fury next regards May, and says, "Ah. Of course." Fury sighs loudly, making it seem like the issue with Skye is truly ominous, indeed. "Agent Skye. Very well, Agent May." Fury nods to May once more, and then regards Skye cooly. "Perhaps it is time."

At least Skye "soldiers up", and gets control. With a subtle nod, Fury approves. "Perhaps you will make a good Agent yet, Agent Skye. And no, we have that in common Agent. Sunny disposition is not anywhere near either one of our career file jackets." He shoots a quick look at May as well, adding her into that little assessment.

Super-Man has posed:
Kenan says, "On the good side, I continue to grow in conthrol and breadth of my abilities. I occasionally learn new uses for existing abilities as well, such as fast healing with my speed."

Melinda May has posed:
May returns Fury's nod, then replies to Kenan, "We will keep working on it, Kong." She always has training ideas in mind. She then looks at Skye for a moment before nodding to Fury for some reason she hasn't stated aloud. It's almost like that silent communication she's known to employ with other agents.

Quake has posed:
Fury's last words draw a crooked twist of a smirk from Skye. "Wonderful. Walking in your footsteps, am I?" The smirk remains. "Suppose there are worse things I could look forward to." Some thought amusing her, now.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury notes that the raven-haired XO is holding a status pad at the periphery of his vision, waiting for his attention. Fury holds up his right hand, acknowledging he has seen her and is almost done. She nods, and waits, patiently, tapping the right status screen on the command deck, and making a few adjustments.

"Excellent Agent Kong. As you grow in power, so does SHIELD. We can use you in our operations, and appreciate what you bring to the game. Keep training hard, and you will become even better. Listen to the team, absorb what they have to offer, and you will only excel."

Watching as May nods to him, Fury understands the message there. Silent, but easy to comprehend when two veteran Agents talk silently. A silent question answered. Well then...

"Agent Johnson. Your SO and Trainer has informed you that, due to your progress, hard work, dedication, and ability, you have passed your training program. Congratulations Agent Level 2, Skye Johnson. You are no longer in training or on probation." A pause. "However, I expect you to continue your training as all good Agents do."

With that, Director Fury nods. "Now I have to get back to work. Feel free to continue your tour of the ship. Congratulations Agent Kong and Agent Johnson. And thank you for your hard work Agent May. Dismissed."
