Checking on David
Date of Scene: 07 May 2017
Location: Xavier's School, Westchester, New York
Synopsis: Scott comes to check on David Akenda, who Tatum is watching over in the medical area.
Cast of Characters: 207, Deadzone, Cyclops

David Akenda (207) has posed:
It has most likely gotten out about the newest Guest in the mansion. David Akenda, Son of the Murdered CEO of Akenda Industries. His parents were murdered due to a feud stretching back 700 years. And now, David as the last surviving member of that blood line, is the victim. Everything of his has been destroyed by Kaji and while Kaji might face justice. His family is spread out, and immune to prosecution by modern day law. Meaning the assassins will return.

Having recovered from the loss of blood, having his wounds tended to by Beast and Tatum, and gotten on a diet to help handle his malnourished. David is starting to improve. Only his night terrors continue, currently a change of clothes has been provided as he has just gotten out of the shower and getting dressed as best he can. Stitches across his chest still healing.

Since he has woken up David has been a Polite if quiet guest. At the very least not interested in leaving until he recovers his strength, but he knows for the time being he is safe as he exits the bathroom area, dressed decently but his chest is exposed as he grabs for the shirt that was provided for him.

Deadzone has posed:
Since his arrival, Tatum has practically moved into the medlab to keep David in the blanket of her nullification field. Particularily with his night terrors, his power can be dangerous, so having her with him has been the safest option. Only leaving him to fetch the two of them food, to discuss his progress with Xavier, or to deal with her own hygiene, she has been a presence that is never far from David's side.

She has not, however, been the best of company. Quiet and sullen, she mostly looks to David's health and then goes to reading. Her soft humming over the last few days holds a sadness and loneliness to it that is almost able to be tasted in the air.

Today is no different. She used the oppertunity given to her by David's need for cleanliness to grab some food for them both and a new book for herself, leaving it on the desk with the cover down to not let it be easily discerned what she is reading. Some hardcover book that has been given a plain paper home-made dustcover to protect it.

Cyclops has posed:
It's been a little time and Scott is just getting a chance to check in on their guest. Between classes and training, it just hasn't really worked out. He had passed on his report about the incident that brought the young man to the mansion. He read the information about who the boy is and what has happened at least in brief. That's as far as it's gone. He hasn't even gotten to talk to Beast or Tatum personally about everything.

Walking into the medlab, Scott takes in the positions of the occupants then walks over, giving Tatum a tight smile and nod of greeting. Then he looks to David. "You're looking much better than the last time I saw you. How're you feeling?"

David Akenda (207) has posed:
The newcomer into the medical lab has David react defensively, A reflex action and instantly he relaxes seeing it is not an enemy. He has been on the run for so long, it's natural for him to expect danger. Finally he says, "I am much better than I was. You are Scott, the one who saved me from the assassin?" he says in respect as he then presents a formal bow to the Elder. "Thank you, I am grateful for your assistance. And though I am pleased to see that you are unharmed. It does surprise me you escaped the assassin unscathed."

David doesn't remember much, from the alley, his mind was preoccupied with survival, and as exhausted as he was.

And perhaps it is a good thing that Tatum is around David especially when he sleeps, David can project up to 100 monofiliment wires composed of Psychic energy that he can use to grapple, or slice. And considering he can slice through molecular bonds leaving a perfect mirror like finish. If he lashes out at someone waking from one of his night terrors. It will without a doubt be a very messy and traumtatic affair. Mainly because David as he has explained feels the pain of those he cuts. And that after an encounter with the joker where the clown of gotham induced a pressure cut, triggered David's nightmares. Something he explains he always has since the emergance of his powers. Which it's self might hint as to what is causing them.

Deadzone has posed:
Looking over to the computerized sliding door as it opens, Tatum returns the nod of greeting, sans smile. The goth home ec teacher doesn't feel like smiling, so she ain't gonna. One thing can be said for the hot-headed goth, at least one always knows where they stand with her as she doesn't hold back what she truly feels about anything or anyone.

"We are hoping to get Jean or Betsy here, or maybe even one of our younger students here, to do a little work with his night terrors before we release him. I can't always be around when he's sleeping," she tells Scott as she gestures to the tray of food to David. He has been moved up to simple solid foods just the other day. Nothing too flavourful or rich as he is still at a stage where too much rich food could make David sick.

Cyclops has posed:
"We're full of surprises around here," Scott murmurs to the comment before he continues. "Yes, I'm Scott. It wasn't the first time I have been in a situation like that. I'm just glad I got there in time." He doesn't explain those situations he's refering to. He likes to play his cards a little closer to his chest. If it is necessary, he shares but mostly he just keeps his mouth shut. "You're David, right? How long have you been on the run?" He already knows some answers. This is just to see if he gets honesty from the guarded young man.

He does glance over at Tatum's mention of a psychic. That explains the mood probably right there. "Have you been staying here every night, Tatum?" he asks with a hint of concern in his tone.

David Akenda (207) has posed:
The mention of someone poking around his head and thoughts is a little unnerving for him. As he lifts from his bow. But being free of the night terrors would be of great help. A chance to get a decent night's rest and not wake up in a cold sweat or partially exhausted.

"You have my Thanks and gratitude." He tells scott, the Solid food might be bland, but compaired to what he has been eating it's Baluga Caviar. So one of the things he does is get some food asking politly before he starst if it is alright to eat while they talk.

He answer's scott honestly, Uh A year and a half at least. Maybe more or less. I was attacked in the JApanese Police station by assassins dressed as police. Forcing me to escape. I haven't been able to keep exact times. Excent when I was captured in, Calvert Utah and charged with crimes I did commit, breaking and entering, theft dispite my desire to kill the assassins and eradicate the Kaji clan, I don't take pleasure in the idea of hurting people. But the assassins had seen me forcing me to escape from police custody." Calvert Utah, a well known hot spot of anti mutant sympathy, known for their 100% conviction rate against mutant criminals.

Deadzone has posed:
Gesturing to the second medbay bed, she reaches for her own plate of lunch. Hers not nearly as bland and boring as what they are feeding David. Some sort of spicy korean rice dish with lots of kimchi and a fried egg on top. "Yep. Just me and David. I think he's getting pretty sick of seeing my face day in and day out. I mean, I know I'm pretty, but he's seen me without my face on in the morning. No man deserves that fate." Though her words are the usual wry, snarky humor, the monotone delivery as she eats says that her heart just isn't in it.

Tatum pauses in her own eating when David asks first. She actually starts to smile, shrugging a shoulder. "Well, I ain't stoppin', so you better, or I look like a real bitch if I say no."

She saw that familiar look on David's face at the mention of the psychic. "It's scary, I know, but I assure you that their ethics are pretty exemplary. Hell of a lot better then mine. They aren't gonna steal thoughts or force in new ones. Or, we could do it the old fashioned way with oodles of therapy. I just figured you'd like to see some sunlight, or sleep in an actual bed."

Cyclops has posed:
Everything adds up. Good, the boy isn't going to try to play games with them. That puts a plus in the column for the young man. Scott is tempted to make a comment about Tatum's face, or lack thereof' but he does have a brain. He knows when to keep his lips firmly together and not give into the urge. He does nod when Tatum tells David that he can eat, finding it odd that he would think that was rude. His heritage perhaps. "Exactly, the psychics would just be trying to help with the nightmares. To try and get them under control enough for you to sleep and Tatum's presence to be unnecessary."

"So you escaped from police custody to stay alive." Not a question, a verification spoken more for himself. It paints David in a better light for it to be from that instead of simply choosing to break out of jail. "Calvert, Utah is not a place for a mutant to be visiting." They've heard of it but just because a place is biased doesn't mean they can change it, much as it might need to be changed. "What are your plans once you are recovered?"

David Akenda (207) has posed:
David sees no reason to be dishonest about his issues, but it doesn't mean he wants to reveal everything. So he does start eating as best he can, his stomache aches for solid food as he does take a few bites. "Some of the trainers Father hired to help me learn my powers, they explained the importants of respecting privacy of one's inner thoughts. But I will accept to have a good night's rest dealing with my nightmares." he says having a peaceful night's rest will be good for the body and soul.

As he says, "No it's not. They tried to shoot to kill when I was making my escape. I honestly do not know. Everything I had has been destroyed. I only have my Vengence and my honor left to me. Abnd I am starting to debate the value of honor considering that as long as the Kaji Clan survives they won't stop hunting me." he says.

What David needs to escape them is a new face, new finger prints, other wise when he is discovered the assassins will come for him."

"When They learn of me here, and sooner or later they will where ever here is, they will come. I was told I was at Xaviers. They may attempt to abduct several of the students and hold them hostage in exchange for my life. If they threaten to harm them it is no bluff I assure you. Once my strength is recovered, most likely leave." David knows he's a danger to the students indirectly, and desires to prevet them from being injured because of him.

Deadzone has posed:
Sitting on one of the rolling stools, Tatum nods her head as she listens. "If it makes you feel more comfortable, one of our psychics is japanese. She will understand the culture you are coming from and respect your needs for privacy in the manner you are accustomed." Okay, Betsy is only half Japanese. Well.... physically Japanese. No, mentally sorta... Screw it! Making sense of Psylocke would take a brain like Hank's.

After a few more mouthfuls, Tatum puts down her food and goes to grab David's chart and fill out the information to monitor any changes. "Kid, any of those assassins come to *this* school to try and play games like that, they are in for a *world* of hurt." It's all she says on that matter, but she does feel she needs to say something about another matter.

"I know that this is likely to fall on deaf ears but, try to let go of the vengence. Trust me. It only leads to pain and suffering and a while shitload of guilt. Believe me, I know." She glances over at Scott, smiling sheepishly. Sure this isn't *her* Scott, but she still has memories of Summers being the one to tell her to let go of her vengence and her not listening and all that led to. This Scott might not be that Scott, but she still wishes she had listened. And she is also fairly certain that, like her, David won't listen either.

Cyclops has posed:
The warning from Tatum about the school and the reception assassins would receive is enough to make Scott smile. An actual smile, not the little one he pastes on all the time. "Perhaps we should run a few sessions with just that scenario," he says to Tatum. "Just in case." He does love his training in the Danger Room. One of those handfuls of pleasure he has like speed. Working on his bike or car. So few things but enough to make him content. Not that the poor young man will have any idea what they are talking about so he forces the discussion back where it should be, the smile disappearing as quickly as it appeared.

"I know that your vengeance is based on your family's honor but Tatum is right. That path is just going to lead to more pain and tragedy." Although he might not be 'her' Scott, he does have the same traits that made the man apparently. "It will poison your entire life and in the end, you will not find the happiness you seek even if you were to succeed. It just makes for a dark hole in your soul." He doesn't think it's going to help either but he has to try.

"Here at Xavier's School, we do try to help our students find a path that will lead to a better life for them. Not just in the use of their powers but in their mental and emotional stability as well." There would be hurdles to overcome unfortunately. Such as him having been convicted of his crimes before his escape. That throws a huge monkey wrench in the works. Not that any of this is Scott's decision, that's up to greater minds, literally, than his.

David Akenda (207) has posed:
Now that David has had some time to think and reflect he has managed to fill in the gaps and peices as he will inhale and exhale. "It's more than that. It's about fulfilling an order the Emperor gave my clan seven hundred years ago. The Kaji clan, was invovled in dark forbidden magics. Conjuring creatures from the underworld. Demons to you, and forming forbidden unions. Courpting their blood line. Kaji already claimed they they severed the Imperial line without it being public knowledge."

At least their was a reason for it. As David sits down anf finishes his meal he just seems so tired, tired of the running, a depressed look, the kind that indicates possible suicide. "My father told me about it, it is when I family Acquired the Black Dragon. My sword, said to forged from the metal of a God's Chariot in the fires of Mount Fuji, be unbreakible, ever sharp, and to strike a demon or such from the under world, the injury will be even more grevious than a normal cut." he explains. At least there seems to be a reason even if it is hundreds of years old.

Deadzone has posed:
Upon hearing that Scott wants to train in the Danger Room, Tatum visibly winces and groans. She is so out of practice and she knows it. Her last time there, and the twin black eyes she got that had the whole student body abuzz, was a definite reminder that she needs more practice.

Well, this world's Scott still talks the same. Man, she wishes she had listened. Then again, she wouldn't be who she is now if she had. How much would have changed? Who would she be now if she hadn't followed the path she did. Would she be nearly as helpful as she is if she didn't have all the guilt of her past to try and make up for? She tries to block these thoughts, focussing on her work on David's chart instead.

"Yeah, they sound pretty bad. About as bad as the Nazis that created me. Believe me kid, vengence is not the answer." Well, that was more then she usually tells anyone other then the X-Men crew. She tries to keep the children 'innocent', at least as much as she can. The students at Xavier's grow up too fast as it is without her "helping". "Maybe stay here for a while? Get an education here at the school. You'd have to talk to the Professor, but he always seems to love helping a new young person such as yourself. You could say it's his bread and butter."

Cyclops has posed:
"It would be up to the Professor, considering your background and the threat still hanging over you," Scott agrees, considering the possibilities. The effects on the school could be tragedy on a huge scale if David's enemies were to find them. Of course, they also wouldn't realize what they were coming into and how well protected the school is. Though, if they failed once, it would take away the surprise should they show up again. From what David is saying? They would be showing up again if any of them were alive to do so. This whole honor and centuries old orders from long dead emperors is enough to make his head hurt. It's all so beyond his ability to comprehend having that sort of a tie and a feeling of duty to it. "But it might give you a reprieve for a time. Let you try to think things through, see what other options there are. No running, no living on the streets and stealing to survive. A roof over your head, food, safety." And a path that isn't vengeance. He doesn't voice that. It would fall on deaf ears.

David Akenda (207) has posed:
Indeed at this point in time, David is still reeling from the trauma of what happened to his parents. He hasn't had time to think, or greive on it. Now that he is here. He will be able to put things into perspective.

"Thank you I would accept your generosity. And you have my word of honor I will... avoid causing trouble here. I will defend myself if needed, but I will do all I can to avoid bloodshed." he is saying in reverance to the assassins, or using the school as a base for such an act of revenge.

he is entering the most delicate part of his recoup. Processing and coming to terms with what happened. Now is where he can be guided, and lead the most.

"Do not be so foolish to think they would attack the school it's self. I assure you if Vavier's is a school for the mutants. They will assume teachers are as well. They will find the students out of the campus to strike at." The assassins if anything are not dumb. Attacking a school full of super powered people? suicide.

Deadzone has posed:
Tate is overstepping her bounds by inviting David. She knows it and is ready to deal with the dressing down she is likely to get. But love it or hate it, Tatum is firmly in the belief that Xavier's Institute is a mutant's best chance at healing the wounds that medicine can't fix. If she had the ability, *every* mutant would spend at least a year within these walls.

"Yeah, you better not cause trouble. Hank has a stamp with an F on it that he is always eager to use. And is more then willing to share it with the rest of staff." Okay, there was a smile when she said that, the beginnings of her usual lop-sided smirk. She must be feeling a little better.

"Kiddo, just cause we are off campus, doesn't make us or the students any less dangerous. Not saying we won't have to be careful, but we have to do that anyway. Hell, a couple weeks ago, we had an alien land and try to kill a student during a field trip because she happens to look like a bug. We are, sadly, kinda used to this shit."

Cyclops has posed:
Scott couldn't have explained that any better. Kidnappings, attacks, invasions, it's just another Tuesday. Or whatever day of the week. "We'll be sure that everyone is well aware of the dangers. There are procedures in place for just such problems." Not assassins per se. "The school has enemies of it's own that have caused us to take precautions anytime students leave campus. Should you be invited to stay and choose to do so, you'll learn more about it." For now, there isn't any reason to go into it. No reason to waste words when it might be something David may never have to worry about.

David Akenda (207) has posed:
David turns his head down in submission. "I understand, I did not want to have someone else harmed in my place." he says and having finished his food he has left nothing there as some fatigue slowly seems to be setting it. He's fighting it clearly, not wanting to have another round of night terrors for a nap so he asks. "What do you think the chances of Your Xavier willing to accept me, dispite the dangers my presense poses?"

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum snorts softly. "Were you not listening? Nazis created me. And he lets my fine ass stay here. Hell, he even lets me teach! If Xavier is willing to let me influence children, you are a frickin' shoe in!!" She looks over the chart and nods slowly. "I am going to take this to the Professor and McCoy now, see if we can't get you out of this room and into some fresh air. You use your power while I'm gone and I will make it my personal mission to keep your powers on lock down for a week." Well, isn't she just a cheerful one? She waves as she heads out of the room.

Cyclops has posed:
"The Professor will gather all the information before he makes a decision," Scott says, not giving the boost of confidence that is coming from Tatum. Nothing is a given with him until it happens. Not really a pessimist but not truly an optimist either. He rides the line in the middle of that highway. "He probably will want to speak to you personally unless he will take the recommendations from Tatum and Hank." He doesn't imclude himself in that. He's only had this short time so he isn't one to offer a yea or nay at this point. At least in his own opinion. There is a lot to consider before a permanent offer is made. He glances over at a clock on the wall, the motion lost behind the ruby quartz glasses that hide those orbs from others. "Unfortunately, I have to depart. Duty calls. Hopefully you can enjoy the privacy with both of us gone. The lab is monitored at all times so please do remain here. The time may allow you to think more on your opportunities."
