Cast of Characters: Poison Ivy, Caim Kataras

Poison Ivy has posed:
Doctor Isley isn't getting many visitors, yet. A few, here and there, but mostly those checking in to see whether she's behaving herself. Which, well, she is. On this Sunday morning she's a little surprised to be called into the common area for a visitor, and when she arrives she looks like she'd been roused from a fairly deep sleep. She's got green-brown circles underneath her eyes, obscured slightly by the lower rim of her bog, chunky glasses. She's barefoot, in a pair of shapeless grey sweatpants with the drawstring cut out and a loose grey t-shirt with the ward name and patient number on it. A plastic identification bracelet hangs loose on one frail-looking wrist. Her hair is in a long braid to the back of her thigh, but the topmost parts of the french braid are frizzy and askew, as though the braid had been done last night and she hasn't bothered to re-do it this morning. Otherwise, there's not much to tell her from any of the other patients present. She sits down on a plastic chair at a small round table with two other chairs. She doesn't know who's coming to see her. But she's here and awake and so that exhausted visage she presents will have to do.

Caim Kataras has posed:
Caim had requested to see doctor isley and seeing her looking tired he gives a small smile. "I would offer you some coffee but they say it would interfere with your treatment, Doctor Isley." He says, his accent is hard to place. "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Caim Kataras. I am a business man who has served in the military. I have come to you to propose a business proposition, one which you may enjoy."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Doctor Isley doesn't know this person coming to sit with her, and for a moment she glances aside to see if there's anyone else he'd better meant to visit. But he sits down across from her and her green eyes fix owlishly on him through the thick panes of her glasses. A moment passes after his apology, some sort of lag in processing time, maybe, or else she's just gathering herself. "That's fine," she excuses his not having brought her coffee. "It's good to meet you, Mister Kataras," is the polite thing to say. "I don't know that I'm in any state just presently to begin a business venture. But I'm assuming since you know I'm presently institutionalized that you already know that and it doesn't matter. So. Please," she invites him to speak, resting grey fingertips on the edge of the table.

Caim Kataras has posed:
"Once your time has been done, I would like to hire you to help me with a project. I am looking to strengthen local plant life to be able to survive the various Conditions that man has caused to the environment. While a major part of my contribution is to better the human condition, it wont matter if the environment becomes toxic due to our irresponsibility." Caim says as he watches her. "Your talents concerning plant life is an interesting ability."

Poison Ivy has posed:
"It's not really a matter of doing time," Doctor Isley is careful to explain. "I'm not very well right now, and I need to recover-- I'm not sure how long it will take. That's up to the good people here who are helping me," she looks across to a nurse she knows well, he returns her tepid little twist of a smile. "Still, I really was hoping to put my skills to good use in the future. Your research sounds right up my alley. I can't commit to anything right now, but if the position is still open when I'm feeling better, I hope you'll still consider me. What sort of lab space do you have available?" she shifts onto one hip, crossing her legs and sounding interested, at least.

Caim Kataras has posed:
"Depends on what you are willing to work with. I can afford whatever equipment you are willing to use. I am willing to wait until you are feeling better to do this work. I simply came to find out if you would be interested in such work once you are treated and released." He says as he watches the woman. "I hope you are being treated well here?" He asks with some minor concern.

Poison Ivy has posed:
"So you don't have labs already built? Is this going to be a new venture of yours, or part of an existing company's research division?" the Doctor seems keen on determining some details before making any promises. She does smile faintly at his last question. "Actually, yes," she isn't ashamed to sound a little surprised. "As someone who has only ever been treated at Arkham, this place is... fantastic. The staff are very caring, the doctors really know what they're doing. That other place ought to be condemned, if I'm being honest." She taks a slow breath, taking stocck of the common room, nodding at a super-powered guard who's been posted there to keep an eye on her. "I think this is a place I could really make some progress."

Caim Kataras has posed:
"I will build the labs while you get treatment. This way when you are recovered the job will be ready for you." He says as he looks to her. He smiles and nods at her. "I am glad you are getting the proper treatment. If you need any money for treatment do let me know. As I said I believe your abilities will allow me to better develop plants able to survive in the harsh conditions which is cities." He says as he watches her. "The reason why I came to you now was because I have read your work on botany, it is very interesting work."

Poison Ivy has posed:
"I'm currently being hosted by the state," Ivy replies, "Just make sure your employee insurance has good psychiatric coverage and all should be fine," she half-jokes, a smile curling at the corner of her mouth. "In fact, if you can get a copy of your job offer to the proper authorities, it might be a good step in proving I'm attempting to become a responsible and productive citizen. That could go a long way toward their being comfortable with my release, assuming your corporation is of good standing in the community. Which--" she begins again, quickly, "I don't mean as offensive. I only don't know you or the name of your business, much less its history." And there are some shady ones out there.

Caim Kataras has posed:
Caim nods. "My corporation primarily deals in weapon research. I believe that a strong defense is a good offense." He says as he nods as he begins to write down a few notes. "Is there anyone else you would like to work with? Anyone you dont want to work with? I am willing to let you be in charge of the project." Caim says as he watches her. He then nods. "As I have said my corporation has done primarily weapons research but I am willing to do other works if it benefits humanity and the planet." He says calmly.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Doctor Isley's eyes narrow when he mentions their major work in weapons. That doesn't sound promising. But then he's offering her the chance to work with anyone at all. This is going to be some sort of test, isn't it. "My dream team? Mmh, well, Weppler from U Chicago, obviously," she starts off her list, Randall Plouff and Newburg, too, but I don't know you'll be able to lure them away from the west coast. If I had internet access I could see who's doing stuff more in the field you're looking for right now. I've kind of fallen out with academia," she twists her lips into a regretful purse. "Been working in the field, as it were. I think I really need to get back into the lab. There's so much I could do there." A pause, "I have a pet project of my own I'd like to get to work on when I get out. Would I be able to use your lab's resources for my own research, as well?"

Caim Kataras has posed:
"I dont see why not. As long as you do your job in the project then I dont mind my resources being used to your own means." Caim says calmly as he watches her. He then looks around then back to the woman. "I also dabble in Cellular research. Mostly human genetics. It is a hobby that I devoloped by myself without any real equipment." He says calmly.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Ivy is quiet for a moment. Still. "You do cellular research on human genetics without any equipment," she finally reiterates, pointing out the obvious conclusion she must jump to without going so far as to say anything about it aloud. "That's a real can of worms you're opening, Mr. Kataras," she goes on. "If you had lab space to study the subject in proper detail, would you be able to freely share your topics of research with the authorities?" she's just going to come out and ask. "I do hope I'm not insulting you. I've given up a lot to be here and get better. I can't afford to get myself mixed up in anything less than on the up and up when I make my return to society."

Caim Kataras has posed:
"My mutant abilities revolve around Cellular manipulation, it allows me to control my cells without any equipment." Caim explains. "As you are aware, mutants are still not very popular with people." He says and nods. "No the work I want you to lead are perfectly legal. I would never ask you to do anything that would go against your ethics, Doctor isley."

Poison Ivy has posed:
"I assumed as much," Ivy inclines her head, "I'll be discreet with your secret, of course. More than I was with mine," added with a wan smile. She kind of went all-out, didn't she? "As long as we're on the same page, in terms of the nature of the work, I don't see any reason why I shouldn't work with you. It's a fine goal, to make plant like better resistant to human presence, but will probably need to be better defined. For my part, I want to look at engineering algae which can help clean oil spills and regulate oxygen levels in the oceanic dead zones."

Caim Kataras has posed:
Caim nods as he watches her and listens. "I will get ahold of the proper authorities and tell them that you will have work lined up once your treatments are over with." He says as he watches her. "I will get ahold of the people you mentioned and see if they will want to help as well. I will also find a labspace for you to perform your work and equipment for you to use. If there is anything else you need, I will see what I can do. As I have said, I am willing to wait until you are better, that is the important thing." He says to the woman.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Doctor Isley actually looks a little touched. "Thanks. It's been a rough... well, it's been a rough while. It's good of you to wait. But //good things// ome to those who wait, you know. And, in all honesty, you're not going to find much better than me, for what you're looking for. I'm not boasting-- just being honest. And you know it-- otherwise you'd never agree to wait for someone wintering at Bellevue, would you?" she adds, a hint of good humor coloring her words.

Caim Kataras has posed:
Caim nods. "As I have said, I have studied your work and believe you to be the best for the job. Your added abilities simply make you that much better." Caim says as he looks to the time. "I am afraid I must go, but I will visit to check on your status. If you need any funds for your treatment let me know. I believe investing in you and your research will benefit us all." He says to the woman as he goes to stand. "It was a pleasure to finally meet you in person, Doctor Isley. I wish you good fortune in your treatments."
