Location: Xavier's School, Westchester, New York
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Gambit, Deadzone, Rogue, Doctor Strange

Gambit has posed:
It had been some time since he had been at the school. The grass was concealed by a blanket of snow. He grazed his gloved hand against the railing, idly brushing some of that snow. It was cold, like him. He had been cold for so long. But Xavier's School, it was home. It was the place he belonged. He used his own key, since he had one, to open the door and stepped into the foyer, where he took off his old duster coat. Clones, duplicates, whatever, they might be good, they might sound like him, talk like him, think like him, but that coat was unique. It had character. It had been through the wars. That coat had been with him for so long that even as he hung it up, he hesitated, not wanting to part with it. But he was home. This was a safe place. He leaned up to run a hand through his greasy auburn hair. He could use a haircut. It had grown long.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum looks out the window of her shared bedroom with Hank. Snow. Ick. A goth's worst nightmare. She shudders and decides today is a day for her more sturdy boots, giving up on the gothabilly glam until the weather is better. Goodbye June Cleaver in mourning and hello to skinny jeans again. Rar!

Coming down the stairs, she waves to the students she passes. It's a Saturday, so no classes, but she might just go to the music room anyway for some alone time with her 'Baby'. And that's when she spots who walks in the front door. She frowns and takes a defensive stance, ready to fight almost instantly. She holds up a hand, ready to push her power onto the new imposter. "So, which one are you?" is all she says. Welcome home, Gambit.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is at the school via the use of a... well... Doctor Strange gave her a standing 'mirror' that she can walk through and it leads into her bedroom from the Sanctum Santorum to her bedroom here in the School. She was able to freely step from Manhattan to Westchester like it was any other doorway inside a house.

Because of this, it was rather easy for her to get back here any time she wanted, and she was here now because she was preparing to go on a trip down south to Mississippi. Strange had a plan to go recover something of hers from her past, her childhood dog was alive on a farm outside of Meridian (her hometown).

Rogue was stepping out of her bedroom with a christmas beanie on her head, it was red and white with snowflakes on the edges, her brown/white hair held down on either sides of her face. She had a backpack slung over her shoulder. A black wool coat on her upper body and black slacks on her lowerhalf.

she just turned down the hallway and was making for the main foyer stairs from the second floor.

Gambit has posed:
Calm as ever, Remy regards Tatum, looking up at her. She's not as goth as he's used to, with the jeans and the boots. "Many have tried, but I am the one and only," he said in heavily accented English. "'sides, you must remember who got yer babe, and where it come from, no?" He smiled to her, moving forward as she held her defensive stance. If he was an imposter, he was very sure of himself. "Never a telepath 'round when you need one, eh? We must add that to the emergency kit. Identity prover 2000."

Deadzone has posed:
There is one thing that Tatum can do to prove if this is the real McCoy, no pun intended. The clones were never born as normal people. They were created as full mutated versions of Remy. As such, her power doesn't actually effect the clones. Now, the real Remy... Tatum keeps her guard up as she pushes her nullification field onto him, waiting to see the colour of those baby blues that are only around when she makes him 'normal'.

Gambit has posed:
Those black orbs, with the red irises, suddenly shift in hue, lightening the sclera from black to a clear white, and the irises become a soft blue. The pupils remain black. The one obvious thing about his mutancy had changed back to what he would have been, had he not been born a mutant. Though technically, he was born with the mutant genes relating to his eyes already active. The kinetic charging abilities didn't come until later. Reaching out with his hands, exposed, no tricks, fingers spread out as wide as was reasonably possible. He took a few careful steps, turning around, showing himself off, before returning his gaze towards Tatum, "so, do I pass de Tatum test?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue would move down the hallway toward the main staircase, she'd stop to speak to a couple of seniors who she knew from last year whne they were juniors though... so it held her up for some moments.

When they parted ways again though she started back for the steps and would appear at the top of the eastern staircase. She heard the voice of Remy before she even stepped fully out onto the staircase, and when she did... she looked right down at him and Tatum.

Rogue just stood there, clutching her backpack now between her gloved hands up against her stomach, unmoving. A calm expression on her face, not anger, or shock, or anything in between.

Gambit has posed:
Tatum was a friend. Remy liked her. She was fun. Plus, she made Hank happy. But when he saw Rogue, at the top of the staircase, he forgot everything else that was in the room. He still had his arms extended, having done so for dramatic purposes as Tatum used her power to make him look normal. Those baby blues looked up at Rogue, and as he took a few steps towards the staircase, out of the field, they reverted back to his original, black scleras and red irises. "Cherie, je suis revenu." He said in fairly good French, even with his Cajun accent on it, which of course meant, honey, I'm home. "I... have some explain' ta do, no?"

He looked good, a little thinner than he had back when he volunteered, well, was drafted into that S.H.I.E.L.D. work. His muscles were leaner, harder. He'd endured rigorous trials. It had taxed him, but with skill and daring, he had overcome them with flying colours. Unfortunately, when he did come into the mansion, he had left the door ajar. It's a good thing that the guy in the Porsche he passed on his motorcycle didn't follow him, the way he nearly ran the red sports car off the road. It was treacherous up here.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just leaned over to her left until her shoulder bumped into the wall and she just 'laid' there against it. She stared at him, he stared at her... he said some stuff in French... she didn't reply.

Since their failed marriage ceremony, she'd been presented with 'hints' of him and 'glimpses' that there were more versions of him out there... But she'd also absorbed the one who'd died AT the wedding, she had that one's memories still inside of her. They'd changed her viewpoint on the man she'd agreed to marry, at least in some ways.

Rogue's eyes looked over away from Remy then, to Tatum... Tatum was like an older sister to her, she'd know what to do here, right?

Doctor Strange has posed:
A sports car follows up into the school's gate and turns off just outside the main doors. The black car door opens and out steps a rather tall man wearing a custom tailored suit and he shuts the door with his hands gently against the body work. Doctor Strange looks up to the doorway and blinks a few times before he steps in after making the hike up the steps. "I am certain that Charles would be most upset if he knew you were leatting the heat out." Stephen explains as he shuts the door behind himself and lifts an eyebrow towards Rogue, as if he wasn't expecting to see her here.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum was about to drag Remy somewhere private, to avoid just this very thing. Craptastic! Anne Marie has the best or worst case of timing she knows of. She looks to her friend, looks to Remy and then back again. "I know my power isn't a perfect test... but he passed. His eyes were blue." She then lifts her shoulders, looking worried. "This is above my pay grade, babe. What me to sit on him till Chuck or Jeanie can get here?" And then there is a voice behind her. She looks and then she *looks*. "Hello salty goodness," she murmurs to herself. She then turns back to Rogue. Seems everyone is putting her in charge. "Well? Sit on him or no?"

Gambit has posed:
His eyes fixated on Rogue's, Remy didn't seem to notice the good doctor's entrance. But it all got to where it needed to go. After a suitably quiet moment had passed, he tilted his head towards Doctor Strange, without ever taking his eyes off of Rogue. His head moved, but his eyes moved to their corner to keep contact with Rogue. "Not t' worry, I fix it so he get a hefty discount on his heating bill 'tis month." Just how he intended to do that, and what the legal ramifications were, Remy wasn't about to say. If the Professor was happy, and he was happy, then what's to worry about?

In mock disgust, he corrected Tatum, "You may want ta run dat test again, Tatum. I t'ink you find my eyes are Brandeis blue." Yes, shades counted. "We got Doc Strange here, and Doc McCoy, and Doc Xavier. Come to t'ink o' it, is anyone in this place not a doctor? Between some o' them, I sure they confirm I am who I say I am. 'course, if you want to examine me in private chere, dat be okay too." He was trying to be responsible, to treat the situation with dignity and respect. But he was still Gambit.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue started to move.

She pushed herself off of the wall and started to slowly walk down the steps on the eastern staircase, still clutching her backpack up against her body. She glanced over at Stephen when he came inside... he'd said he'd meet her here after she picked her things up and they'd be able to head out soon there-after to go get her super old dog. She was thrilled. Elated... she had the picture of herself and Jinkies in her backpack. The only picture she'd had that had her parents, her, her dog all together in it. Taken the day that her parents vanished and her life all went to hell (her opinion).

Rogue walked past Gambit on the steps, and she stopped when she was right beside him. She turned to face him.

'He passed the test.' She heard Tatum say inside of her head.

"Tater?" Rogue asked while eyeing Gambit. "Are my powers off?" She asked. "Please turn them back on if they are."

She blinked her green eyes at Gambit's own.

"So I can strangle this abomination, until his head pops like a balloon..."

She said it all calmly, but those who knew her would know she wasn't joking.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen reaches his hands up in front of himself and adjusts his cuffs gently before regarding Tatum with a stoic look seemingly molded onto his face. "I don't think I'm salt-ier than anyone else." The old doctor and wizard says with a hint of a shurg before looking from Rogue to the back of Remy's head and then towards Rogues face. He blinks once and lowers his hands, satisfied with his sleeve ends.

    He doesn't say anyting.

He's going to allow the girl to have her own opinion and make up her own mind however, he doesn't step forward, he doesn't even send her a message telepathically, he merely look at Rogue with his grey eyes and shakes his head very subtly, twice left and once right. That's a bad idea Rogue.

Deadzone has posed:
"Does my PhD in being a hottie count?" Tatum asks with a smirk when Remy brings up the fact that the school does indeed have a lot of people with P, H and D behind their names. When Remy goes and offers examinations in private, she's not entirely sure if he means her or Anne-Marie, but her response is the same. She cuffs him upside the head. "There will be no private exams, Mister."

She looks then to Rogue, concerned for her friend. This has to be terrible for the southern belle. When Anne-Marie asks about her powers, she starts to step away to give Rogue her powers back. Until she says what she plans on doing and Tatum steps back up the stairs instead. "Now, babe, I know how you feel, but there has to be an explanation. One that doesn't have us want to smack a Cajun black and blue and then pop his head like a zit."

Gambit has posed:
"You want t' do dat, fine by me. I lead a good life. I got to spend one more minute with you, chere, so, I die a happy man. But, if you wanna hear me out, I do have what dey call, extenuating circumstances." He was smiling throughout, though anyone who knew him well could see it was an act. "'course it does Tatum, it de best kind of PhD." He actually believed Rogue might hurt him, and he was thankful for Tatum's frivolity. "Spoilsport," he adds with a grin to Tatum. Still, he was willing to risk anything to have a chance at fixing things with who he believed to be his fiance. They didn't call him Gambit for nothing. Plus, it rolled off the tongue so much better than Le Diable Blanc.

He stood there, close enough that he could smell her, her cleaning regimen, shampoo, all of it. His senses weren't as good as Wolverine's, or even Beast's, but he appreciated what could pick up, even if one of the things he was picking up was hostility. Plus, he caught Dr. Strange's subtle shake of the head. "What I do to convince you? Let you strangle me? Absorb me? Kill me? Kiss me? Whatever it take, I do it chere. I have lots to make up t' you, I know dat, but I do what I can to make it up to you, no?"

Rogue has posed:
Rogue looked over at Tatum when she denied her the ability to pop the zit... She seemed almost mad at Tatum for the briefest of moments, but whatever part of her was mad was quickly quelled and brought back under control and thats when she looked over at Strange. Strange had been there since the night of the wedding, helping her. He'd been a calming presence for her, his stoic ways toward rules and life had fit perfectly with Rogue's own personality, he'd be like a therapeutic presence for her since the night all of this went down in Paris.

Rogue saw his displeasure in her choice of actions here, but she just looked back at Gambit.

"You're not real." She said to him then, her voice was soft and ghostly whisper-level. "I don't even have t'do anything t'prove it..." She slowly shook her head side to side and was trying not to cry, trying very hard not to. "Because you're gonna do what you do. You're gonna vanish, you're gonna disappear, you're gonna... be you. Eithe'ah here t'huart me, or leave me. I don't gotta do a damn thing, just... let it happen."

Rogue turned to her left then and moved past Gambit, down the stairs past Tatum, and started walking toward Stephen and the front doors behind him.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen takes a single, well placed step backwards, towards the doorway, but he doesn't open it. He prepares to however, to allow Rogue a quick means of egress should she desire to get on the road quickly and away from the memories she should never have been privy too.

In other circumstances, he would have joked with Tatum, but this is certainly not the time for such distractions.

"I don't think any of us know how she feels." Stephen remarks to Tatum's words. The wizard opens the door with a quick spell, and he steals a gaze over his shoulder to the inside of the mansion and his cold eyes look over Tatum and Remy, not judging but still vast arrogance seeps from the tall man who would follow Rogue like an impassible wall, his shoulders would aim to protect the teen.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum watches Anne-Marie like the over-protective big sister she is. She did not want her friend to have to deal with this, at least not without a little bit of warning. To just toss this in her lap.... Rogue says her piece and starts walking down the stairs. Tatum lets her go, lifting a hand to Gambit to stop him from following. "Give her time, Remy. She mourned your death. She was starting to heal. A lot of wounds just got opened up fresh."

She looks to Strange then. So this is him. She's heard a lot about him from Anne-Marie and has mixed feelings about him. Her face is flat and unimpressed, not wanting to give this Strange man an inch, lest he turn it into a mile. On one hand, he gave Rogue the support she needed, giving her a place away from Xavier's when every tile and panel of the place reminded her of Remy. On the other, this is the man that took Rogue away from her 'family', causing them to worry about Anne-Marie's mourning. "Well, except for the empaths in the mansion. I think they have a very good idea," she counters to Strange's arrogance. Two can play at that game.

Gambit has posed:
Remy LeBeau was many things; most of them bad, but being a quitter was not among them. When Rogue moved past him, down the stairs, he followed, except, not with the conventional route. He reached for the banister, grabbing onto it to help steer him as his feet kicked off. He did a somersault over the railing, pushing off against a side panel as he fell, to sending rolling forward into a gentle, and survivable fall. Once on the carpet, he rolled, right back to his feet, and moved to get in front of Rogue, not preventing her from leaving, but just trying to be there, so she could see him again. "Chere... Rogue... Anna-Marie... I real. I asked you t' marry me. It was the happiest moment o' my life when you say yes. I... things... happen. I know, I got lots t' answer fer. But here I am. Gimme a chance and I promise that, okay, when I hurt you, it only be little, the stupid things. Like leaving the toilet seat up, or not takin' out the garbage. I can explain, if you gimme the chance. Look, you take your time. I be here when you want to talk. I be here fer you, always." He placed his hand on his heart, "dis beat only for you. It always has, and it always will."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue watched the door open in that handless way that Stephen Strange was so capable at manipulating the enviroment with (she still was working on her Light ball spell, but was at least pretty good at that now!).

But the exit back out to the snow-covered wonderland that was Xavier's in the late-Fall/early-Winter was suddenly blocked by the form of Remy who'd done one of his fancy parkour tumbles down and around her to impede her exit. Rogue stopped right in front of him, her eyes went wide, but she was trying to keep her emotions in-check. Once upon a time (earlier this year when they'd met?) little moves like that, followed by his romantic speeches... they'd hit her heart with a resounding impact, it was stuff like that that she liked about him. He was 'fun' and 'lovely' all at the same time.

But everything after the wedding... Rogue just shook her head and stepped around him.

"I'll be back in a few days. I'm gonna go get part'a my family back." She said to no-one specifically and just went along out the front doors.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen waits a few beats before turning his head towards Remy and Tatum, and with Rogue out of ear shot he leaves a thought for the mutants to ponder over. "It's not your death and apparent rebirth she's upset about mister Lebeau." Stephen begins and as he lifts a hand towards the door handle he finishes the thought, "It's something she saw when she absorbed your memories. You not only broke her heart, you broke her faith and trust." Stephen says quite abruptly but that is him by nature. Bedside manners was never his strongest attribute.

The doctor closes the door softly with a click before he walks down the steps again towards his waiting car and nods to Rogue, saving any words he might have for the girl until they're on the road and calmed.

Deadzone has posed:
Tatum drops her face into her hand and shakes her head when Remy decides to completely ignore her and instead be a showboat and romantic. She really shouldn't have expected anything less from the man. Of course, if he's that far away from her, then neither he nor Rogue are in her bubble of nothing. If she punches him, it's gonna hurt. A lot. Instead, Anna-Marie's words are used and cut like a knife. Getting part of her family back. In other words, seperating herself from the Mansion and the dysfunctional family that they have made.

She looks to Stephen then, daggers in her eyes. Oh yeah, it's been decided. She doesn't like him. Even if he is cute and talks like a brainiac nerd. Sadly, her bubble keeps out his telepathic communication. If Strange knew about it, he could have likely compensated for the field, but as it is, Tatum only hears echoes and disjointed words. But there is enough that got through that when Strange closes the door behind him, Tatum stomps down the stairs and smacks Remy. "What did you do!"

Gambit has posed:
Rogue could have caused some serious damage with her strength, her training, or even just by absorbing his life force, but she had nothing on Doctor Strange. Gambit had been hurt. He had been cut. He had been injured. But the good doctor just caused more psychological harm to the Raging Cajun than anything else ever has. The way his face changes, a horrible mixture of shock, anger, and sadness. Rogue was upset at him for who he is. She rejected him. How could he make up being Gambit to her? How could he do, well, anything. He doesn't even notice when Tatum comes down, enveloping him in her field, and smacks him, demanding to know what he did. "I came back from de dead," he said quietly, "it not like in de movies." And he quietly began to walk up, hoping that he still had a room here, but after that, he really didn't care. If he had to sleep in the attic, he would.
