Gravity and Magnetism
Date of Scene: 20 November 2017
Location: Tribeca, New York City
Synopsis: The Master of Magnetism is in New York. He is spotted by a couple of curious people in the form of Rift and Mariam O'Shea.
Cast of Characters: Mariam O'Shea, Rift, Magneto

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
It's early evening time in New York City. Tribeca is bustling with people heading home after a good, or bad, days work. Cabs and other vehicles clutter the roadways, making the sidewalks much more appealing for the locals who can usually catch a subway train and be home in less time than those risking the roadways. As the sun is below the horizon, the few people who had braved the breeze off the river have decided it's time to vacate the parks and head home.

Mariam is amongst those people. She has a dark trenchcoat pulled around her form, hands tucked in her pockets as she strolls out of the park in the direction of the nearest subway station. Despite the dim light, she has on a pair of mirrored sunglasses as she walks at a sedate pace.

Rift has posed:
Rift is standing on the side of one of the tall buildings, five stories up. Standing on it as if it was the floor, her body parallel to the ground - facing the ground, looking down. Simply people-watching, munching on a Snickers bar. She is enjoying the unique vantage point she has that nobody seems to notice her - even though her entire body, clothes and all, are glowing dully with bright glows visible inside her body. She takes a few steps forward, closer to the ground, hoping something exciting happens.

Magneto has posed:
There's an older man with silver hair that is tucked under a very dark grey or an off black three piece suit with silver tie clip, cufflinks and pocket watch. The man walks with his shoes clapping agaisnt the pavement beneath foot and he walks with a purprose but not quickly. Erik looks up toawrds the peculiar girl standing on the side of the building and he smiles up at the girl before looking back down to where he was walking and pulls his over coat tighter around his chest and arms to combat the cool New York winds. He hasn't spotted Mariam yet, but she is a petite thing.

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
Mariam continues down the sidewalk, taking a sidestep to avoid a woman with her kids. Then she continues. Her steps take her toward the finely dressed gentleman as they apparently will be crossing paths.

One of the things about sunglasses is people don't know when they are being looked at closely. Mariam is examining Magneto closely, wracking her brain as she tries to place him. When the cylinders click into place, she stops walking entirely. Behind those mirrored lenses, she flicks her gaze around at the few people on the sidewalk and in the area. No, nothing, at least not that she can see. She moves again but this time she has placed herself on an intercept course. "Excuse me, Sir?"

Rift has posed:
Rift isn't sure - but the old man in the fancy suit seems familiar. She lets go of the building, descending at a rapid pace and landing in an alley, hopefully not noticed. Once she landed, she takes a deep breath and suppresses her mutant abilities as the aura of power fades from her as she looks relatively normal - a Japanese girl with red hair and eyes. Wearing sunglasses of her own to hide the latter, she emerges from the alley, trying to watch the old man... something about him caught her eye - epsecially how he knew, somehow, that she was up on the building's side when nobody else even glanced. She is watching carefully for not, not interfering.

Magneto has posed:
Magneto kindly enough stops in front of Mariam as she approaches the older man and he looks down into her reflective lenses and smiles warmly. "Yes ma'am. How can I help you?" He doesn't seem rushed, he doesn't even dart his eyes around to see if anyone is trying to ambush him. Is he that in tuned with his powers he can use it as a kind of sixth sense?

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
"I'm sorry to bother you, Sir," Mariam says in an apologetic tone. Her head turns, looking around them but no one has even responded to her approaching the man. "My name is Mariam. Mariam O'Shea. I make my living protecting people." She feels it is important to share that sort of information since her next words might have been taken wrong otherwise. "I'm noticing your severe lack of security and, if you are who I am believing you are, you really should have someone watching your back at all times when you are in the public view. Too many idiots and zealots out there." She has to tilt her head up to be able to look at him although all he can see is his own reflection in this glasses, not the eyes behind them. "Sir, please tell me you have someone and they are simply so good I'm not able to see them?"

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua sneaks closer to the two, wishing she had some kind of hat or something to hide that flaming red hair of hers as she finally gets to leaning beside a wall next to the two. Oh no. She is pretty sure she knows who it is. Magneto. That face is rather unforgettable. But even so, she'd be a fool to do something in public so... doesn't. She lacks the luxury of subtlety with powers.

Magneto has posed:
"How about I tell you I have someone and you've seen them the whole time you've seen me." Erik says with a soft chuckle and a subtle squint as he looks seemingly through the mirror finish of Mariam's sunglass sheen. He doesn't even move a finger before her glasses slowly lift off her nose upwards over her forehead to rest in her hair. "And it appears madame, I am at the disadvantage in this conversation." Magneto says before he looks to his right, towards the girl who walked up and not so subtly leaned against the building as if she wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but he chooses to stay silent and look back to Mariam with that smile of his.

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
As her glaasses slide up, Magneto gets a glimpse of very pale blue eyes. She winces as the light comes through, even as dim as it is. Quickly, her hand goes up and pulls the glasses back in place. Once they are, her expression relaxes again from the tension she'd just exhibited, apparently no longer squinting behind the safety of the lenses. That does confirm he is who she believed.

"That's all well and good, Sir, but there are ..." Her voice fades as she notes the woman who has placed herself nearby. Immediately Mariam is shifting, placing her body directly between Magneto and Kitora, her back to the ruler of Genosha. "As I was saying, you would be better served having others around you just in case. Even you can be surprised, I'm guessing." She isn't trying to be rude, it's just built in her to examine personal security. His person just doesn't seem secure.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua inhales sharply at that show. Magneto indeed. Her confirmations are correct as she stops being subtle as she moves closer. "Hello there," she states softly, not giving her name. "Lovely evening for a stroll, is it not?" she asks, tilting her head as she watches, smiling faintly. "I know who you are," she states softly to Magneto. "Not of your friend..." She glances to the other woman who's also wearing sunglasses.

Magneto has posed:
"So you claim to be a body guard and seemingly are willing to offer your services right away without much more than an introduction. I take it that means you're new to the business, or are simply looking for work. I suppose you are hoping to use this as an impromptu interview?" The mutant man says, his attention being turned towards Kitora now. "Indeed, most people know of me, and I know very few of them in return. Would you mind helping an old man out and let me know what I should be calling you." Erik says with again, that pleasant, disarming almost grandfatherly smile of his.

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
"I already have a job," Mariam points out, never taking her eyes off of Kitora as she approaches. She keeps herself interposed between the woman and man, a physical barrier to keep them apart. She doesn't continue to explain now that they have company. She moves her hands out of her pockets now, the jacket falling open and showing the business suit beneath, the skirt falling to above her knees.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua notices the suit on Mariam, curious. "My name is Kitora," she states softly. "And I'm not going to do anything. I know who he is. I also know that he is not doing anything amiss... and my teachers would be very disappointed if I caused a panic without damned good reason." She smiles faintly as she tries to sidestep Mariam to extend her hand for a handshake. "How do you two do? Ms. O'Shea? Mr. Lensherr?" she asks, deciding to be formal with both.

Magneto has posed:
"Kitora did you say?" Magneto repeats as he shakes her hand and smirks softly, a silvery eyebrow lifting up towards Kitora over Mariam's head. "Teachers... you wouldn't happen to be a student at Xavier's school, would you?" Erik asks, wanting to regard Mariam, but unable to as she doesn't want to talk business on the street like this, in front of some stranger, so he'll wait for her until this teenager situation has passed.

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
When Magneto takes the proferred hand, only then does Mariam step out of the way. She still is keeping an eye on the woman but also the surroundings. Why? Habit. The school is unfamiliar to her but she does give a nod to Kitora when she is greeted. "Nice to meet you, Kitora." She doesn't slip her hands back into her pockets as she considers if she should move on since really, he isn't her charge. Yet she waits for now.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods slowly. "Yes," she states. She never gave a last name. "Oh... were you two about to discuss business or something? I could leave if you prefer... it's starting to get dark anyway. Or if you don't mind a high school senior around - maybe we can get a snack somewhere?" She is sounding uncertain. She never realized how charming Magneto could be.)

Magneto has posed:
"I must apologize Kitora, but I'm going to save you from a lot of drama and trouble. I must take a rain check on the offer for snacks and I must recommend you get back to the school as soon as you can." The mutant says with a knowing smile and wink towards the young girl.

"Mariam, is there a particular reason for you to come to me showing off your body guard and security skills?" Erik says, straight to business, as he is busy and technically exposed out in the street.

Mariam O'Shea has posed:
That earns a roll of the eyes. "I was just heading home actually. I just thought it was a bit weird and, to be completely blunt, stupid for a world leader to be out and about without a security detail. Powers or no powers, you are a target for some people. They don't agree with you, your politics, or what you are which is a sad thing to say in this day and age for there to be such intolerance still. However, since you seem to think I'm just trying to impress you instead of impress upon you the importance of having people around you. I am sorry, it's just habit and I have no right so I will go before I embarass myself further." She gives them each a nod in turn. "It was a pleasure to meet you both." Then she turns away, intending to continue down the path she had been on to begin with for the subway station down the block.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua just blinks, scratching her head. "I'm confused. What just happened here?" she mutters softly, glancing at the departing Mariam. "You know... you seem like a nice guy," she states softly to Magneto. "Strange that such a nice guy can do some monstrous things..." She sounds a bit melancholy as she starts to return to the alley from which she emerged... walking slowly in case she's addressed again.

Magneto has posed:
"I am a nice guy." Magneto retorts, giving a subtle nod towards Mariam, meaning he'll have to look her up later, that is an interesting woman. It's okay for her to think him stupid for not having body guards, but this is a man who can literally feel the Earth turning and the pocket change in the pants of those around him. He is aware generally of what's going on.

Erik then shrugs his shoulders as both women leave roughly at the same time and like that, he starts marching back towards the hang out and gets back to planning his next move for mutant-kind.
