Cast of Characters: Rogue, Doctor Strange

Rogue has posed:
They had shared driving duties throughout the trip to the south. Rogue was currently driving though and she had a big cup of coffee in the cup holder beside her, she had the radio on but it was between songs and some blathering radio mouths were rambling about nothing.

They were driving down a dirty road with farmland fields on either sides of it, old barbed wire fences and the occassional sight of cows grazing in them. It had snowed a day or so ago here, but the roads were clear and the snow on the grass was mostly thin and frosty.

Rogue's eyes were looking down at the GPS on the dashboard and she looked over at the Doctor. "Its right up ahead... Why we didn't just do one'a your teleportation things is still entirely' beyond me." The young student to Strange said to him.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen lowers the cloak he had bundled up and used a single flap to cover his eyes from the white reflective snow, and the sun rays shining through the windows.

"Because, Anna, as I've told you before, every spell has a cost, and this, some away time is something we both need." Stephen says, groggy as he lifts a hand to brush the fabric from his face and readjusts in the seat to sit up right.

Rogue has posed:
"Right." Rogue said back at Strange as she continued to guide them down the small dirty road. "I mean, this has been fun and all... those guys back at the Motel that I had t'punch out for laughing at your cape? That was a hoot!" She glanced over at him and gave a faint grin before looking forward again.

Rogue released a sigh then reached out to turn the radio down and off when a Justin Bieber song came on. "Look." She said. "I wanted t'thank ya for this, I mean... the fact that my dog is even still alive is remarkable, but I mean... how much time could he really even have left? Ya know? I'm not sure how t'cope with losin' him right afte'ah gettin' him back."

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen turns to face towards the young mutant woman and starts to lift his hand towards her but he doesn't but instead speaks frankly. Not about the men she punched, or the pleasant drive they shared, but the dog. "It's been a long trip, but if you'd rather not know, we can turn around now and go back to New York. I would not consider the trip a waste." Stephen says, giving the girl an offer of choice. Again. It's what he does.

Rogue has posed:
"I've thought about that." Rogue said, having had picked her coffee cup up and been taking a drink from it while he spoke. She sat it back into its cup holder and sighed. "I can remember the day that we went and picked him up from the farm that had the litter of puppies. He was the only one in the cage that was following me around the whole thing as I ran around it. He chased me, barkin' and hoppin' the whole way."

Rogue gently shook her head again and glanced at the GPS screen once more.

"He was with us all'a three or four months and that was, twelve years ago?" Rogue looked over at Stephen. "Is it even fair'a me t'still lay claim on him like he's mine?"

Doctor Strange has posed:
"Those are all valid fear and concerns Anna." Stephen says, turning his head to look towards the young woman and a smirk seeps into his face. "You're becoming more adult Anna." Followed by a slow wink and, "About time." The doctor turns his head to look back out the window, refusing to answer her last question.

Rogue has posed:
"Ha... ha..." Rogue replied to the older man after he made his joke about her. "Remember that I had the minds of a lotta older people in me for a long time. I knew what it meant t'be a responsible adult... I just think its boring." She gave him a smirk before putting her eyes forward again.

The car came up on a turn and she slowed down and then took a right. She then nodded at the driveway. "There." She said. On the property an old farm house set a good two hundred yards from the road down its dirt driveway, it was a medium-low wealth place, had a big old red barn not too far from the house to the east.

Rogue pulled the car onto its driveway and started down it. "Should we... call?" She asked then.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"Call who, with what?" Stephen asks as he looks around at the gate and sees there's not anything other than a chain holding the thing closed. He leans forward in his seat and with a subtle motion of his hand, the chain lifts up and separates slowly before resting limping, dangling from the gate that Stephen then pushes open also with his magic.

"Shall we?" He says with a teasing grin.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue watched him manipulate the gate open with his magic and she looked from it, to him. "I thought the family knew we were coming?" She asked him then. "I mean, I thought you contacted them and asked..." She exhaled then. "Nevermind."

Rogue pulled the car onto the property and quietly muttered. "If some old damn farmer comes runnin' outta his house with a shotgun. I'm gonna be cross with you." She said back at him.

Their car rolled down the driveway and came to a slow stop after arching around toward the right of the front yard, parking between the house and the barn.

Rogue shut the car off and looked back at Stephen, then reached out for her red and white snowflake wool hat on the dashboard, picked it up and put it on her head.

"Okay then..." She went to pop open her driver side door.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"I thought you knew the family! You came to me telling me your dog was alive!" Stephen says, lowering his hand onto his lap with a heavy slap, rolling his eyes gently.

"If a farmer comes out with a shotgun I am going to - Hahaha." He chuckles as they say almost the same thing at the same time.

"These are your people Anna, you will be doing the talking, I will be doing the paying." The wizard says with a firm curt nod, meaning that's the plan and that's that. Stephen then slowly climbs out of his car, remembering this time to cast a spell of illusion, changing his clothes quickly to something more, upscale and less, Harry Potter.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue stood up out of the car with a sigh at his words and she shook her head. It was cold out... she could already see the white steam of her breath in front of her face. Her green eyes looked over at him as he'd mistified himself into a more dapper suit. "Shoulda driven a shittier car, ya know." She told him. "They're gonna make ya pay more if ya look rich as Tony Stark." She smirked at the older man and started toward the house.

Rogue put her right booted foot up on the first old wooden step and then ascended to the front porch. She walked toward the house and then glanced in one of the windows before she glanced then back to Doctor Strange and then just sighed again and reached out to knock on the door.

Rapraprap.
Rogue's gloved fist came back down and went into her pocket, she looked back to Strange and... then a dog barked. But not from inside the house, it barked from the barn to their right.

Rogue's eyes instantly shot over in that direction! She looked with wide eyed expectancy! ... A dark black german-shepard came out from around the barn and barked at the house where they stood!

"Thats... not him." Rogue said to Strange then.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"Remember he's not a puppy any more." Stephen notes, with a soft frown as he levels his hands towards the dog, trying to look very non threatening towards the creature. Stephen turns his head back to Rogue with a soft smile as the inside door opens with a heavy groan from the hinges.

The wizard considers casting another spell to mask the girl's car, but it's too late and so he's left standing there, trying to calm a dog not far away as the farm owner shows up but remains behind the screen door for now.

Rogue has posed:
The dog remains a good 15 feet away or so and its staring right at Doctor Strange... barking at HIM like it didn't trust him... or could see something 'off' about the man (dogs were special like that, see right through magic clothes!).

When the door opened, Rogue looked away from the barking dog to the old woman who stood on the other side of the screen door.

"W-yes?" The woman said to the young teenager outside of her home.

Rogue brought up a smile then, trying to look as sweet and charming as she could. "Hi there." Rogue started. "I'm... Anna-Marie and this'ere is my, u-uncle, Doctor... Stephens." She said, knowing full well that something as strange as the last name Strange could make her kinfolk on-edge.

Rogue looked back to the woman. "Is this the Jensen farm?" Rogue then asked, tilting her head a little. "I called a few weeks ago about a dog ya had here, rescued when he was a pup from a farm not far from here?"

The woman inside the house looked between the two of them. "Why yes, yes this is." She looked a bit ruffled, but was catching up with what was going on.

Rogue continued then, smiling more. "Oh, well... you seemed as though you'd be open to... sellin' the dog? He used t'be mine when I was a little kid."

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen lifts his hand towards the woman when Rogue spoke his name and he lowers himself in a low crouch, turning his palm up while retracting his left hand to help him stay upright.

"C'mere fellah." Stephen says, his souther accent is atrocious, so he clears his throat and just speaks normally. "Come here, little guy." Strange says with a smile, but careful to not show his teeth.

"Nice to meet you miss Jenson." He says acting kindly at least.

Rogue has posed:
The dog that Stephen was talking to just continued to bark, until he spoke back to it again and then it yelped repeatedly... turned... and ran back into the barn! Rogue didn't notice though, she was looking at the woman inside the house.

Said woman, opened the front screen door then. She was shorter than both of them, probably only around 5'4" at most.

"Dear oh dear, my, yes. I remembe'ah now. Your sweet voice over the phone deary. Come on inside, both've ya."

She ushered them into the old farm house. She'd lead them toward the living room.

"Sit sit. Let me get you some tea. Just made a fresh new batch. Take your coats off!" She was apparently nice as can be, a southern belle all in her own right... in her 50s or so, likely seen a lot of great life.

Rogue would walk inside, looking like anyone does when they go inside a new place. She'd take off her hat and coat and put them on the rack by the door, then she'd sort out her sweater on her body and walk toward the living room to sit on the sofa's edge.

"Love your house." Rogue said back to the owner as the owner disappeared into the kitchen to the south.

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen walks in and takes off his coat, thankful to be inside as these southern winters are awfully windy and biting in their cold.

"Thank you again miss. The trip was long and slow with the weather coming in from the north." The doctor replies as he steps in and walks up towards the mantle, looking at the family photoes and the shelves covered in countless crystaline figurines to which Stephen points at one, motioning towards Rogue and then doing the coocoo gesture next to his head.

Rogue has posed:
"Oh I know! We're ready for the storm they say is headed this way! Gotta get the the shovels ready for the drive. Thank goodness my boys operate the plow in the city." Mrs. Jensen said from the next room.

Rogue looked over to Stephen and she smirked at him. "Stop it." She said at him. "People around here love their little trinkets like that..." Her aunt sure did! Rogue was still pondering whether or not she wanted to go see her aunt, it'd been a long time... but she sure as hell didn't want to see the man her aunt had married, he was an asshole and its one of the things that drove Marie into running away back then.

Rogue sighed and looked around, just as the woman appeared with a tray of cups of tea and she sat them down on the table and sat across from Rogue after handing them out.

"Gosh, I wish the two of you had called again before comin' all this way."

That statement made Rogue stop sipping at her tea and she looked at the woman. "Why?" She asked then.

Mrs. Jensen looked back at Rogue, then to Stephen. "The dog." She started. "Birdie... He passed away, just a week and a half ago."

Rogue's mouth just kinda slightly opened and her eyelids twitched just a little--but she otherwise just went perfectly still where she sat holding her cup of tea.

"I didn't know that you were plannin' on drivin' all this way!" Mrs. Jensen said then, looking to Stephen since he was the adult here.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"He was Anna's last positive fragment from Anna's past." Stephen says softly as he comes up behind Rogue and gently puts his hands on her shoulders and allows her to do what she needs to do, while also assuring her that he's still here for her and will always be there.

"I'm sorry to hear that." Stephen whispers a polite reply to Mrs Jensen, so that Rogue doesn't have to. He knows how hard this must be for Rogue.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue didn't really react to Strange's comforting tough to the back of her shoulder. She just sat there holding the tea and listening to the two of them.

"He was a wonderful dog! Look!" She reached for the table beside her chair and she pulled up a framed photo and aimed it toward Stephen and Rogue. It showed her and her boys out in the yard, looked like summer, maybe ten years ago? The yellow lab/mix was between the boys and was barely containing his energy to stay still for the picture.

"My kids loved him, we... burried him out back behind the barn."

She would eventually lower the framed picture down to her lap then and looked to Marie. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart..." She told the teen.

A second later though and Mrs. Jensen's eyes narrowed and her head tilted. "Hey, you aren't Carrie Carlyle's niece are you?" She asked, raising right hand up and pointing at her hair. "I remember her niece havin' that wild white streaks in the bangs like that. Used t'be all over the place. Wild child."

Rogue didn't reply.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"I can assure you she still is." Stephen says softly, before adding gently. "Do you mind if we take some time to go visit?" Stephen asks, moving his hand gently to try and get Rogue outside and out of this house, it probably smells like what she remembers home being like. It's certainly not going to help her move on with her life, and the news of the dogs demise will likely set her back just a bit.

"Come on Anna. Lets go say good bye." The doctor tries to usher Rogue outside.

Rogue has posed:
"Yeah... Marie." Mrs. Jensen said, looking right at Rogue's mostly-catatonic face. "You're the... mutant, that put Jeb Collins' boy in the coma!" She suddenly gasped and looked up to Strange who was trying to get them out of here.

Rogue suddenly stood up. She sat her tea cup down on the table and she started to walk for the door to leave, picking up her jacket and hat.

"I'm-I'm so sorry!" Mrs. Jensen said. "I... wish I could do something!" She gasped further at the Doctor.

Rogue threw open the front door and shoved the screen door open, storming out of the house.

Doctor Strange has posed:
"There's nothing to do. It's just the way life goes." Stephen says, reaching into his pocket once Rogue is out and setting down a check on the table and pats it once. "For your troubles Mrs. Jensen." Stephen says softly before turning around and heading towards the door and gathers his coat.

Stephen steps outside of the door and shuts it behind him respectfully and looks for Rogue to catch up to her.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue was headed off of the front porch and back toward the car. She opened the driver's side door angrily and was down inside of it in a second, tossing her hat onto the floor of the passenger side. She went to start it up and Stephen would have to rush to get into the passenger seat before the girl might drive off without him!

Inside the farm house the woman looked down at the check that Stephen had left. "My word..." She said, tearing her eyes off of it she watched the teenage mutant get into the driver's seat and she lifted up the wall telephone beside her. She dieled a short number, the sheriff. "Jim?" She said. "Yes this is Darleen Jensen... You won't ever believe who just visited my place... Is that reward still available for the girl who put Cody Collins into that coma?"

Doctor Strange has posed:
Stephen does get a little hustle in his step when he sees the way Rogue's reacting and behaving. "Wait wait wait! Wait for me!" The doctor hollars as he hot foots it into the Bently.

"Do you need me to drive Anna?" Stephen offers, completely unaware of the call going on concerning them not thirty feet away inside the house.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue wasn't that stupid, she knew what was going on. When Stephen got into the car she already had it whipping around and aiming toward the exit of the farm, shooting out a fanning wave of dirt and gravel behind them.

Once the car was aimed toward the street again, Rogue looked over at him. "She's callin' the cops." Rogue said at Stephen and then she slammed on the gas and the Bentley's tires dug into the driveway and sent up a cloud of dust and debris behind them, then they shot off toward the street!

Doctor Strange has posed:
"Oh. That's no good." Stephen says, rolling the window down with a push of a button and leaning his head and right shoulder out of the window to point his hand at the gate at the end of the drive way. A single spell creates a potent gust of wind, opening the gate a bit more violently than he planned, whipping the gate open and bending it slightly.

Then Stephen lowers his hand down and closes his eyes, taking a few soft breathes as he puts his palm against the outside of the car door and starts chanting quickly but subtlely.
