Silk has posed:
Its raining in Gotham City. It always seems to be raining in Gotham City. With as many bright and sunny, beautiful days that Metropolis gets just across the bay you'd think Gotham would get its fair share of fair days.

    Gothamites get no such luck.

"Aaaaaagghh! Its been raining for like twelve hours straight!" Cindy exclaims, as she looks back towards the conference she's been at all day- something for the pharmaceutical industry. Supposedly she was here to learn more about how to be a reporter- instead, she learned where all the best coffee places in Gotham were. "A colossal waste of time." she mutters to herself.

But then there's that shiver. "Oh shit." she whispers to herself, before dashing off into a nearby alley.

Two people stand not far from the conference center- both dressed in long, red coats. Both wearing fine hats. Dark pants. "Brother dearest, I believe our quarry is near. I can smell her on the wind."

The male form- as slender as the female next to him- "I do believe you're right, my dear Sister. The Bride is near, and the hunt is on."

Shadow has posed:
Conferences tend to be dreadfully dull when the topic isn't one you're interested in -- but they do tend to get attended by the Who's Who in the biz, and Cranston Multinational needs to drum up some additional business to offset the ones Natasha has been busily divesting for reasons known only to herself. Negotiations are so much more effective when the CEO comes to talk in person, and this conference - or more precisely, the post-conference soirees - make an excellent opportunity to network.

... Or at least, they would have, if Natasha had been the slightly frivolous and somewhat oblivious twit that she likes to pretend to be. That twit would have missed how one of the attending reporters suddenly looked around nervously before ducking off into an alley -- and how, shortly after, two figures started moving simultaneously toward the same alleyway.

Natasha laughs out loud at a not-funny-at-all joke by the pharmaceutics executive that's been bragging about his connections at work while leering at her neckline all the while. "Oh, Richard, that's awful! You truly are a terrible person through and through, aren't you?" she mock-chides, to the merriment of the others, then reaches into her purse before pausing a moment and digging a little deeper. "... And I seem to have misplaced my lipstick at the conference hall. If you'll excuse me, I'd better go find it. Give my people a call when you're back at the office?" She offers a flirtatious wink and wave over her shoulder, giving her hips just a little more sashay as she walks off.

The moment she's out of sight, however, her entire body language changes, the sashay transforming into a determined walk that should not be possible in those high heels without acrobat training. As she walks down the street, a cab slows down briefly as it passes her, and no one at all notices that the woman did not actually get inside, or that the shadows are flickering slightly as something is making its way towards that alleyway...

Red Hood has posed:
Jason is used to all this rain. It make sense this time of year, and most of the natives would probably expect it. However, that does not mean that Jason has to like it. Jason is on patrol in this part of Gotham, and by patrol we mean holed on a roof overhang out of the direct rainfall. His helmet radio is tapped into the GCPD broadcast bands to keep an ear on the happenings in the city, but he doesn't want to risk the cold rain if he doesn't have too.

The Red Hood's perch overlooks the conference as people are leaving, and his eyes scan the crowd, looking for any familiar faces with an idle interest.

Silk has posed:
In that dark of the alley, Silk quickly gets dressed. Luckily for her, she's carrying her costume in her fingers- tossing her messenger bag into a dumpster as she leaps and bounds off a wall. As she goes, her body covered in the windings of spider-silk that make up her costume.

When Silk is seen again, she's on the rooftop across from Red Hood. Its a wide, flat roof. Surrounded by taller buildings, its likely the sort of building that's only maintained because it has some kind of historical significance. Long shadows are drawn across half of the square space, leaving half in shade and half under the glare of near-by sodium lights that give everything asink yellow-orangeish tint in their harsh glare.

In the shadows- one form, menacingly swinging a multi-tipped whip. In the light, another form brandishing a pair of blades that are best described as short-swords, although one is of slightly lesser length than the other.

    Something is going down.

Shadow has posed:
Technically, she has no business here -- this is Gotham, and everyone in the trade knows that you operate in Gotham on the Bat's sufferance or not at all -- but something about the way the reporter moved was familiar, and Natasha has learned to trust The Shadow's instincts.

By the time she reaches the alleyway, the girl is gone -- but she notices the two pursuers head to the rooftops just ahead of her and follows.

When she gets to the rooftop, she takes a moment to take in the situation -- Silk is immediately recognizable in her haphazard uniform, and while the man she's facing is less familiar, the two people making a laughable attempt to remain concealed in the shadows are the ones to draw her attention. Their poise, body language, choice of weapons and the fact that they seem to be actively pursuing Silk... Yes, these are almost certainly the ones who killed Gia.

She smiles grimly underneath her scarf as she reaches out with her will, calling on her abilities even as she draws her weapons, quashing her anticipation with discipline, waiting for the right moment to teach these hunters what it's like to be hunted...

Red Hood has posed:
"Its Not-Spider-Girl again," Jason says to himself with a grumble. "And it looks like she's brought friends--" Suddenly, Jason cuts himself off as his mind is cast back to what he and Silk actually discussed the last time they ran across each other, and the danger that brought Silk to Gotham in the first place.

    "...Crap..." He sighs.

The Red Hood is moving in an instant, his sudden burst of motion sending showers of water droplets that had accumulated on his armor. He leaps off the edge of the building, throwing a grappling line and making a acrobatic swing over the open canyon between the buildings. He lands with a roll on one of the higher roofs, coming up with his pair of pistols. The Hood sights down on the pair on robes and opens fire almost immediately at their feet to drive them back.

Silk has posed:
Silk is between the two hunters- unaware, at first, that she had reinforcements on their way. She presses the button of the communicator/transponder that Captain Marvel had given her- and not just once. At least a dozen times, before whispering fearfully into the technological piece- "Help! I'm in Gotham...I..Hel!" The cry for help is ruined by the swing of a multi-tailed whip, forcing Cindy backwards in the rain- towards what would be the waiting fangs of the other enemy's twin blades.

At least, if it wasn't for Red Hood laying down the suppressive fire with his pistols.

The twin enemies seem to work in concert- both running from the weapon fire faster than your standard human would be able to manage... but clearly not in any mood to get shot. "Blast it!" Cries the man, "What is this, some kind of trap?! Are you a step ahead of us, Spider-Bride?!" the woman growls next. "Maybe we underestimated you!"

Silk can feel the shift in the air- there were two people here to help her, at least, for the moment. Her transponder was broken- but it had managed to send her panicked cry for help, and give a location. Not far off at all from Avenger's Mansion- just across the bridge in Gotham.

"Uhh.. Yeah!" Silk suddenly says, "I.. um.. I've been tracking you for da..Weeks! Yeah, Weeks!" She manages to stumble out as she rushes in the opposite direction of the two hunters, "And..er.. I have more surprises for you! You should totally give up now...please?"

Shadow has posed:
Cindy's threat might not sound too intimidating, but that's all right - because just as she finishes speaking, a sinister chuckle sounds from somewhere behind them, then beside them, left, right, everywhere at once, swelling into a wild, malicious laugh echoing off every surface even as the shadows flow forward and swallow the light.

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA... Murderers... You call yourselves 'hunters'? There is a snarl in that voice, and malicious amusement of someone who intends their quarry to suffer. "Did you think you could come, and kill, and leave without consequence? Did you think no one would KNOW!?

Jason and Silk are not quite as affected, as the Shadow's intent isn't on them, and they see the dark, hooded figure slowly stalking around the two as it taunts them, lining up for an angle of fire that doesn't have either of them as backstop for any rounds that miss their targets...

Red Hood has posed:
For once in a long time, Jason is in no mood for games. He could have taken the chance for headshots, but he's wearing the bat symbol for a reason this time.

The Red Hood leaps down from his vantage point, closing on the pair and emptying his magazines at them to drive them back from Silk.

"You want to sacrifice someone to a dark god?" He yells, holstering his pistols "Do it in someone else's city! I happen to like this one."

As the laughter and voice echo through the night, Jason looks over to the shrouded figure. "What he she it said!" He yells, not slowing his advance. He draws his kris knife and throws himself into melee with the twin sword wielding figure. He dives low, slicing for the figures hamstrings.

Captain America has posed:
Overhead a noise can just be made out over the rainstorm. It sounds like engines. As it gets louder, a Quinjet ducks underneath the clouds, coming to a hover adding to the wind of the storm for a brief moment. There is a door opening on the bottom of the Quinjet just long enough for a figure to leap from the craft. The Quinjet powers up and moves off back into the clouds. The figure coming down in a blur of Red, White, and Blue. He twists in air, bringing his shield around, and uses it to take the impact of the fall even as he springs from the impact into a roll. He comes up into a crouch, taking in the scene.

Silk has posed:
And what a scene it is- The shadows are lengthening and the thunder from the clouds above peals like a kettle drum- a flash of lightning to illuminate the scene. The woman with the blades is quick to react to Red Hood- matching his attacks with parries and blocks. She's clearly a seasoned fighter. Sparks fly as metal meets metal, along with the ringing song of battle. She jumps over his low swing, moving into a backwards hand-spring with blades raised. "Oh, Brix! This one likes knives! How darling." she teases.

"Oh, and someone playing light games as well, Bora." The man replies- that flash illuminating both to see the similarities between them- twins always seem to match. Even when they're not wholly identical.

Brix begins his own assault now, rushing towards Silk- only to dive out of the way at the last moment as Captain America makes his impressive entrance. "You tricky little bitch!" he says towards Silk, "You should know, we're always spoiling for a fight."

Shadow has posed:
The Shadow's laughter is almost - but not quite - drowned out by the roar of guns, a pair of heavy brutes that would snap a lesser man's wrists. In deference to the absent Bat and the fact that the Shadow wants answers more than simple vengeance or justice, the shots are not aimed to kill but to cripple, shifting between targets without pattern, forcing both to keep their attention divided among multiple opponents even as their perceptions warp and waver like heat haze at the edge of their vision or flickering shadows from the corners of their eyes -- normally, little more than a nuisance. But in the heat of battle, against skilled opponents? One moment's distraction can easily be your last...

Red Hood has posed:
Jason pauses in his assault for a moment as the Quinjet arrives. With trepidation he looks up, and there is visible relaxation when it becomes apparent its a SHIELD aircraft and not the Batwing. Then the Old Soldier comes out with a sping and a leap, and Jason laughs. "Oh you guys are in for it now!" He yells, an edge of mirth in his voice. "Old Glory has come to kick ass!" For as much as he is a Bat, Jason is abit of a Cap fan as well.

The Red Hood springs toward the figure identified now as Bora, again attempting to entangle and engage her with several swipes with the knife as well as some well placed punches and kicks. "Oh yeah I like knives," The Red Hood mocks. "And guns and bombs...and lets not forget GRENADES!" The Hood pulls a pin on a flashbang and rolls it toward Brix.

Captain America has posed:
Captain America steps on his shield, spinning it off the ground, and onto his arm with a practiced move. He looks and spots Silk knowing she was the one that signled for help. He begins to run towards Silk and Brix, bringing the shield around in front of him, as he attempts to knock her off her feet while she is hopefully still off kilter from his entrance. He hears the laughter of the Shadow in the back of his head. It sounds familar, but he can't think about this instant. "Go low!" he shouts in Silk's direction even as shots ring out around the scene.

Silk has posed:
Silk is up in the air, down on the ground. Every movement of impossible grace and speed. She's gone quiet- unlike Spider-Man, she hasn't figured out the quips, just yet. As she turns, a blast of webbing comes from her finger-tips as Bora's blades flash and sing, mostly blocked by Red Hood's own flurry of well place slashes.

Several things then happen in almost simultaneous fashion. Silk's first blast of webbing binds Bora's hands together as she tries to stab downward at Red Hood. A second blast is fired as she springs on a single hand- between Cap's legs as he braces and throws his weight into the male, Brix. With ankles suddenly wrapped up, he falls back. He raises his arms and strikes at seemingly nothing- at a fleeting shadow that seems to have formed and flicked at him as if trying to drag him into the shadows of hell itself.

And then BOOM! That flashbang goes off, and Brix is rolling away with a shout. "Ah! My eyes!"

It seems the twins are now on the defensive!

Shadow has posed:
And as he rolls, his trajectory becomes slightly more predictable than is healthy for him, and the Shadow's next two shots are right on track to intersect his kneecaps.

Unfortunately, those seem to be the last two rounds in those magazines, and the dark figure closes to melee range of the woman, directing a pommel strike toward the back of her head while the Hood occupies her attention...

Red Hood has posed:
Jason turns his attention to Bora, dodging to the side as she stabs downward and is webbed by Silk. "Woman who strikes from the darkness," he quips, coming upto his feet again. "Carries swords, and has a strong family. You are just a woman after my own heart." He makes a short jump up and brings his heal downward sharply in a hammer kick to crack her collarbone and impact the same time as the pommel strike by Natasha's shadows.

Captain America has posed:
Captain America continues through the tackle as Brix goes down with impact and the webbed ankles. He rolls again into a crouch and flings his shield in a spinning arc towards Bora's side, trying to catch her in a three way impact. He is moving as soon as he throws, anticipating where the shield will go once, and if, it hits, the target.

Silk has posed:
Brix rolls at the last minute, Natasha's bullet only grazing him as he manages to narrowly avoid Cap's tuck and roll as he tears at his own ankles before coming to his feet. With Cap without his shield, Brix swings his multi-tailed whip at the famous hero, while shouting. "Bora! Behind you!"

Bora shifts to the side with the alacrity one would expect of someone who's life-force has been strengthened by countless spider-avatars. She manages to take Red Hood's kick on the upper arm instead of her collar bone. Natasha's strike finds the back of her shoulder, while Cap's shield strikes her firmly in the same side- her right arm hangs loosely as she rolls out of the way. "I think it's time for a strategic retreat, dear brother! It seems our quarry is smarter than we first assumed..." she says as she begins towards the far wall- away from the trio of heroes.

Brix, on the other hand, splits the attention- rushing towards the heroes and Silk in particular. With a show of acrobatic expertise he drives past the others, "Now!" he shouts.

Bora then throws a trio of daggers towards Silk- with stunning precision.

Silk jumps and dives, but two of the three daggers slash through her flesh- one at her side, the other at a thigh.

"Woah..." Silk says, as she puts her fists up... any trained eye would see there was something off though. She's wobbling, even so quickly after the attack.

Shadow has posed:
With her attention drawn by the shout, Natasha is just out of position and just too late to do anything about the daggers, although Bora pays for the toss when a pommel strike slams into her outstretched arm at the elbow with enough force to shatter a human bone. She snarls in rage, then catches Cap's eyes with her burning gaze. "... Poison. Get her to medical attention. Go." comes the almost growling order before she turns hr full attention - and will - back on the woman before her, threatening to rob her of all her senses...

Red Hood has posed:
Jason keeps his eyes on the targets, attempting to stay engaged with Bora as she and Brix attempt retreat. "Not so fast!" He shouts, tossing a handful of pellets at Bora's feet, which crack and emit toxic fumes. "No one runs from a fight with me!"

Captain America has posed:
Captain America ducks under the whip crack and reaches out to snag his shield on the return flight. He slips it onto his arm just before the loud voice in his head barks. He glances toward the Shadow for a moment, and then back towards Silk. He watches her wobble and he is moving. He tries to get to her and catch her if she begins to fall. "Easy there, miss," he says in a confident voice letting Red Hood take the fight for the moment.

Silk has posed:
"Always a first time.." Bora states as she continues on her way- the toxic fumes doing little to stop her as she jumps up into the air, and along the wall in a way that would make any traceur jealous. She pushes herself forward- up and across the gap between the building they've been fighting on and the much more elevated roof of the convention center across the street. She's gone, in moments.

Brix rushes past Silk, before the Captain arrives- launching himself off her back with a kick that surely has broken a rib from the wobbly Spider-Gal. She's caught by Captain America before she hits the ground.

Silk's eyes are fluttering- she seems barely aware of anything and blood is flowing far more freely than one might expect of cuts of the depth she has. Whatever poison she's been dosed with isn't a very kind one.

All that can be heard is the laughter of the twins mocking the heroes from opposite directions.

Shadow has posed:
The Shadow watches the hunters depart, then holsters her guns with anger flowing out of every movement before heading over to where Silk has fallen. A quick glance down at her, then back at the Captain. "I hope that plane you came in on is still hovering around?" she asks - and this close, without the confusion of battle, Steve can hear that at least part of that sinister growl is likely the work of a fairly high quality voice mask...

Red Hood has posed:
Jason draws a pistol and slams home another magazine as he runs in pursuit. He opens fire on the retreating Bora as she disappears. Its a futile gesture, but at least it makes him feel better. The bullets ricochet into the darkness and off the buildings, as he fires in rage.

The Red Hood stops firing and gets a hold of himself. He carefully ejects the empty magazine, reloads, and then reholsters his weapon. He turns back to the rooftop to see Silk going limp. "Shit," He sighs, rushing back over to join them.

Captain America has posed:
Captain America reaches up with his free hand and touches where his ear would be underneath the cowl. "John, I need an emergency EVAC and plot a course to the closest hospital. We have wounded here. Possibly poison." He looks down at Silk and lifts her as he stands up. "Either of you have anything we can put on the wound. See if we can slow down the bleeding."

The sound of engines are quickly returning, being heard even over the rain storm.

Silk has posed:
Silk has gone quite pale as the rain pours down on the heroes, another flash of lightning followed by the boom of thunder. Still, her particular abilities seem to be fighting off the poison rather well. "I..I can do it.. No.. No public hospital.." she mumbles, as she lifts one shaky hand and silk begins to spill from her fingertips in what could roughly be considered a particularly long bandage.

Shadow has posed:
There is hesitation, if only for a moment, and a brief glance to the side where noise from a fire escape suggests that a news crew is making its way toward the rooftop, but then the Shadow reaches up and pulls the crimson scarf off of her face -- although the glimpse of her true features is brief before sapphire eyes blaze and shadows rush up to conceal them again.

Red Hood has posed:
The Red Hood hurries to the others, giving the Shadow Woman a sideways glance as she briefly drops her mask. He runs up to Silk, his eyes narrowing through his helmet. "I have a hideout," He says looking up to Cap. "She can recover there."

Captain America has posed:
Captain America can't help but glance towards the woman as the scarf is removed. The scarf itself was causing his brain to run in circles, trying to remember something from his childhood, but was just a little out of reach just now. He looks back towards Red Hood. His eyes narrow as he takes in the full helmet and the combat attire, but he finally nods as he looks over the Bat Symbol. "Alright."

The quinjet breaks the clouds and comes in low for another hover. The bottom opens and a rescue basket is lowered. "Do you trust me enough to tell my pilot where to take her?" he asks as he carries Silk towards the basket. Once in the basket, he takes the silk she produced and uses it as a makeshift bandage to help at least slow the bleeding.

Silk has posed:
The news crew manages to get to the roof just as the two villains have escaped, aiming their camera down at the other rooftop, "Here we can see something has happened! It appears someone is hurt, but its difficult to tell through the rain just who's over there. Hey! Joe! Get some lights over here, who's down there?!"

Perhaps luckily for the heroes, at least those who aren't Captain America, the visibility is extremely low from the now raging storm- Its difficult to catch who's there. Who's doing what. "I think that's Captain America!" the young reporter states. "Yes, that is absolutely Captain America down there, with... its hard to see, but it looks like two others. One seems to be wearing a red helmet...and the other is obscured in the Shadows!"

Silk is mostly out, by now, breathing easier and her blood is starting to clot. She's not out of the woods, but she's not likely to die in transport, at least.

Shadow has posed:
... And between one lightning flash and the next, there is one less person standing on the rooftops. Super Soldier Serum enhanced hearing can just about make out footsteps, and a Bat-trained stealth expert can spot a few splashes that are wider than the raindrops account for... But then they blink, and by the time the helicopter manages to put a spotlight onto the scene, The Shadow is nowhere to be found.

Meanwhile, the crowd of industrialists had been gathering to gawk from underneath a convenient alcove, excitedly murmuring to each other speculating what is going on, when Natasha taps one of them on the shoulder. "Richard, where did you go off to? I thought you had this dinner planned over at the Oyster, what is everyone staring at?"

"Ah, Natasha. Found your lipstick, I hope? From the sound of it, some sort of caped brawl going down on the roof over yonder. Don't worry, we should be quite safe down here. And if not, I'll have my bodyguard cover you, never fear..."

Natasha favours him with an admiring smile. "I do feel so much better with a strong man looking out for me. Now, you said you wanted to discuss refrigerated shipment---?"

She slips her hand through his proferred arm, and the various businessmen and idle rich gradually amble off once the entertainment seems to be over...

Red Hood has posed:
"Better idea, Cap," The Red Hood says, reaching to take Silk in his arms. "I'll take her, I have my own mode of transportation, and I would rather the Avengers not be aware of where I live." If Cap does relent, Jason will gather Cindy into his arms and move quickly to the edge of the roof.

He turns as Natasha exits, and narrows his gaze. Apparently there are other players in Gotham he has no clue about.

Captain America has posed:
Cap does not look particularly thrilled at Red Hood just running off with Silk, but for now, he will trust the Bat symbol more than the man in front of him. He steps back and lets Red Hood gather up Silk. He steps into the basket himself now, and looks up. It begins to retract and Cap will ascend back to the jet. Perhaps they may try to follow Red Hood, but in this weather it would be difficult to be sure.

Silk has posed:
Silk, for her part, is barely aware of her surroundings. She's conscious- but only barely. She won't likely have full memory of anything after her unfortunate dosage of poison.... And so, it is into the rainy night with Red Hood for Silk.....

Elsewhere, the twins meet up again. "We'll need to eat to heal from our wounds. Its clear there is more to hunting this Bride than we first thought- but imagine the prize! Next time, we come prepared with a few tricks up our sleeves," Brix says to Bora.

Bora replies: "Agreed. This will be an excellent hunt."
