A Day's Work
Date of Scene: 28 November 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Hal is such a flirt!
Cast of Characters: Green Lantern (Jordan), Oracle

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
It was a brisk day today, but the weather was at least clear and sunny. The tar mac was clear of any aircraft except one. She was the new F35XR stealth prototype that Ferris was assisting in developing. A beautiful, sleak design that shared many similarities with the Avenger's quinjet. There was also currently only one person on the deck.

Hal Jordan was wearing a dark leather "bomber" jacket, with his name on the left of the jacket in dark letters. "JORDAN". His brown hair was blowing freely in the wind, as he moves along the side of the fuselage, touching the fighter with a reverent touch. His blue jeans and cowboy boots round out the outfit.

After briefly touching the fighter, Hal takes his hands, blows on them, and then tucks them in his pockets for warmth. Chilly indeed.

Oracle has posed:
The redhead making her way toward the machine -- and him -- is not unfamiliar. Barbara's been working on the plane's programs in her 'spare' time, working on making them unhackable as well as tweaking the performance of the craft here and there. All of that tweaking is based on Hal's own feedback. She carries a tablet computer with her, and much like him she's dressed for the chill of the day out there, although perhaps a bit more formally. Heavy khakis with brown boots and a very heavy fleece jacket encase her slender form, and she's got her copper hair securely fastened at the nape of her neck to keep the wind on the flightline from knotting it like crazy.

When she gets close enough to him, Babs shoots him a grin. "Hey, Hal. I took a look at the last set of numbers - I see what you mean. There is a very faint vibration in the VTOL. There's not QUITE enough power in that lift yet, so the screens are definitely flickering. But I think I worked out a better resource allocation in the preflight checklist, and it should take care of that." Her expression is comfortable; they've worked together enough on this part that she doesn't seem worried about telling him what to do with it. "None of the other test pilots are seeing the flicker, though, so ... nice job."
She stops in front of him and offers the tablet. "Would you like to look it over before the next flight?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan looks over at the sound coming from the entry to the main hanger, and frowns. Using his right (ring) hand to shade his eyes from the bright sun, Hal moves a few steps forward, bringing Babs into sight. "Hey there! I'm over here!" Hal waves her forward, and smiles.

Moving closer, Hal nods and says, "I knew it! That's amazing work Barbara! Thank you." Hal frowns a bit, as the smile disappears and Babs continues. "Preflight...hmmm..." Hal gets a distant look, running through the allocation in his head. Realising he was still talking to Babs, Hal smiles again, and nods emphatically. "Oh, it was nothing. When you have flown as much as I have, you get a feel for the girls." His eyes go back to the aircraft. "She's a beauty."

Hal looks down at the tablet, and nods. "Yeah, thanks." Hal takes the pad, and peruses the data, nodding. "Hmmm...excellent work...wow. I'm impressed."

Oracle has posed:
Tilting her head, the redhead wonders if he's a little preoccupied with something else. "Well, neither one of us would be out here if we didn't spot those kind of things, I guess. And she is definitely a beauty," she agrees readily. She shoots the aircraft a glance and then hides a small smile. The lessons that she just learned working on this problem are going to come in handy in Gotham, too.

She comes around to point to the screen over his arm, pulling out a pair of silver-rimmed glasses so she can see it better. "That's the spot where the drain happens, so I'm thinking if you turn this system on first, and then that one, it won't drain at that precise moment that the engine is trying to sequence the lift-off," she shows him.

And then she steps back, perhaps aware that she just invaded his personal space. "Sorry about that. I about shouted Eureka in there when I found it. Swear to God, I'm the biggest geek ever." She grins, absently removing the glasses once more. "When do you want to take her up again?" she asks.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal watches where Barbara points, absorbing every detail, and memorizing it. "Right." Hal nods again. "Makes sense..." Hal looks at Barbara as she gets closer, and closer, and then she moves back as though caught in something untoward. Hal chuckles, and smiles warmly. "No worries."

Hal taps the aircraft absently, and says, "Not sure. Soon I think. She needs to be put through her paces" Hal grins.

"Look, I really appreciate you coming on board with this. Ferris Aircraft can always use a second pair of eyes, especially eyes as incredible as yours." Hal flirts, and winks at her. "We've been having some issues for some time, but our budget doesn't allow us to hire someone as talented with computer systems as you are." Hal nods, and hands to data pad back to Babs.

Oracle has posed:
She takes the tablet and smirks. "You really can't help yourself, can you?" Barbara asks with a smile. Her tone is a little more serious as she comments, "I have my own reasons for taking what you guys offer. Non-disclosure aside, I figure if I can help Ferris get her in the air, it makes all of us that much safer when the next invasion wave hits. And if they can get her running perfectly, the military may need her sooner rather than later. So... it's all about self-preservation, right?"

But there's more to it. Her eyes skim across the lines of the aircraft assessingly. "There weren't enough airborne heroes last time. And I just don't think we're done yet. Especially now, with this crap about the President coming at us." She shakes her head. "It's a perfect opportunity for even the earthbound enemies to hit us, when we're in chaos."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal grins and shakes his head. "Nope. It is engrained deep within me." Hal laughs, and shrugs. "It's all in fun." Hal starts walking towards warmer climes - towards the inside of the hanger.

"Yeah, I can appreciate that Barbara. Safer is better, especially when invasions are concerned. It would be nice to have the boys flying aircraft that they can use to defend the planet with. Good to know it can be used for something other than killing each other..."

"Airborne heroes seem to be rare these days. Strangely enough. And you are right about the President and this whole mess." Hal sighs, and shakes his head. "I wish I could be everywhere at once, but being up there..." Hal motions towards the ceiling, now that they entered the hanger, "...it lets me know how many alien races would love to end us."

Oracle has posed:
There's a moment where Barbara, perhaps thoughtlessly, starts to reply. And then she bites back the comment and merely shakes her head. //I sincerely doubt that's news to you,// she mulls in her head. Perhaps next time they meet in uniform, she'll be able to ask him about the things he's seen in space.

"It just makes me grateful to have people who CAN fight back in the air. I think we've been incredibly lucky to have some of the caped folks around in all of this... but I think it's not just up to them to save us. We need to save ourselves too." She smiles slightly, pivoting on her heel to walk back to the hangar with him. "I need to get back to Gotham... got a hot date tonight," she teases. No need for him to know that it's with a utility belt and a grappling hook.
