Cast of Characters: Silk, Shadow, Ghost Spider

Silk has posed:
Its another evening in New York City. Another night where villain happens in the dark. This evening, a number of thugs are standing behind a warehouse- a large truck is on the dock, and wooden crates are being pushed into the back of the truck. A number of men are in the warehouse, talking to one another. "Just what we movin' anyways?"

"Weapons? Drugs? Russian nesting dolls?" The other thug asks, "Who gives a shit- just move the boxes and keep loading. This is the last truck."

Shadow has posed:
Of course, in New York, it's never that easy. Especially recently, since one of the bigger shipping multinationals has started caring about what's being transported again. Of course, some changes take longer to echo down the pipeline, and Cranston Multinational's heiress sees no reason whatsoever not to take a personal interest in cleaning up on every level simultaneously.

Which is why a dark-clad figure is currently overlooking the operation, concealed from their perceptions by force of will alone. Underneath her scarf, Natasha can't help but smile as she feels anticipation flow through her. These scum are the Shadow's rightful prey, and it is time to hunt.

Busy as they are, they don't notice the gradual dimming of the ambient light until sinister laughter shatters the silence. Not the hysterical cackling of Gotham's monster clown, but something far more focused in its malignance...

            "HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!"

The voice seems to come from everywhere at once, echoing off every surface and even places where no surface should be...

Ghost Spider has posed:
One might think that a slender figure clad in white and purple would draw more attention as she aligns herself atop one of the tallest buildings on the dock, leaning into the darkness so as to find a better vantage on the men loading the truck beneath.

Spider-Woman is not a particularly imposing figure. The stylized white mask and hoodie don't strike fear into hearts yet for she is a newcomer. The black of the lower half of her uniform helps break up the girl's silhouette but the truth of the matter is that she would be a sitting duck if only these men would look up. No one bothers to keep a proper awareness of the city skyline.

Then the laughter begins. Gwen'turns her head slowly, her eyes widening though it's hard to tell behind the faceless mask with its ovoid purple outlines denoting eyes. Beneath the her suit Gwen's Spider-Sense is going crazy.

"That laughter." Spider-Woman is on the verge of spluttering. "What's going on...?" And to think she'd been planning on a nice, uneventful evening of punching D-List criminals in the face.

Silk has posed:
Two of the thugs drop their wooden crate, and it breaks- contents spilling across the floor. It looks like snow globes- they scatter across the floor. "Shit! What is that?!" One of the two thugs shouts, "Shit, shit..shit.. we better get moving." one says to the other.

"Run." The second states- and both go running hard towards the still open truck. "Get in and drive! Get in and drive!"

Shadow has posed:
Again that laughter shreds the night, this time accompanied by two gunshots that blow the truck's front tires. Worse, from the thugs' point of view, is that the muzzle flashes briefly illuminate the guns and the hands that hold them, but nothing else -- and by the time their retinas clear from the flash, even those are gone again, until a blurry foot lashes out at ankle height to sweep the first thug's legs, tripping him in mid-run.

Scum. Did you think you'd get away with this? That no one would KNOW!?"

Still the voice seems to come from everywhere and nowhere at once, but the last word is all but shouted into the second thug's ear so close that he should feel their breath, but when he turns his head to look all he sees is a shadowy blur that turns out to be a fist coming at him at speed.

Ghost Spider has posed:
Then there are muzzle flashes and people are screaming. Gwen's eyes are briefly dazed by the light. "Wait a second! Is someone else crashing this party? ...Actually, that's really creepy." It doesn't stop the young woman from esolving to get involved. Blinking to clear her vision Gwen leaps from the top of the warehouse, gracefully flipping through the air.

A line of webbing shoots out through the air, gleaming in pale white as it latches onto the gutter at theedge of the building. The white and black figure of Spider-Woman sweeps through the air and comes to land in front of the truck, now lacking tires and filled with screaming men.

"The voice is right, you know. Smuggling is wrong. These crates are probably full of all kind of illegal... Snow globes?" That has Gwen blinking, but there's little time to think about it. One of the thugs tries to trample *her* in his haste to escape and she moves to throw a line of web designed to leave him trapped against the side of the vehicle.

"I'll ask you about that later," Spider-Woman informs him. "But who are you?" She is asking the blur, of course. The thugs are already done for as far as she's concerned. They just don't know it yet.

Silk has posed:
"Crap!" The van peels out- without front tires- and crashes immediately into the wall, sending the two in the cab into the dashboard with a thud! "Carl! Help!" Joey calls, as he's attached to the side of the truck- right before it crashes into the wall. "Crap! Crap!"

"We're in trouble.. We're in trouble!" say a few of the thugs in the truck who then rush towards the door- those who aren't trapped under the heavy boxes of what appear like snow globes.

One of the globes cracks, breaking...the Three men in the back are suddenly wrapped in smoke.

Shadow has posed:
Natasha blinks as she sees the webbing flash by her and turns to look at the origin. She hadn't expected Silk to have recovered this quickly -- and as she sees the white and purple clad figure, she realizes she was right. Her disappointment is brief - and cut short when the smoke erupts from the globes. That can't be good. Scum they may be, but that doesn't mean they deserve to die. On the other hand, she doesn't want to breathe that whatever it is either.

"Get those people out of the back!" she instructs the spider-heroine, fading into mostly-visibility, a shadowy blur in vaguely human form with blazing blue eyes peeking out from between a slouch hat and a blood red scarf. For herself, she yanks open the door of the truck and grabs hold of the man behind the wheel, hauling him out of his seat and tossing him aside like a disfavored doll. He lands a few meters away, groaning, and looks up just in time for his co-passenger to land on him in a tangle of limbs and likely a few bruised or broken ribs -- but alive.

Ghost Spider has posed:
"No, really? What *is* that stuff...?" There's the Spider-Sense again. Gwendolyn decides to trust it. Flexing her spider muscles she tears the back off the truck and shoots a pair of webs into the back. Thwip! Then she yanks and tugs the remaining thugs free of the vehicle and the cloud of smoke.

Afterward, Gwen sighs and moves to tear the guy she'd affixed to the truck free of his prisonand tosses him into the pile with the rest of his allies. "Do I need to tie all of you up? Why don't we call this evening nad you all just sit thre and wait patiently for the cops?"

Natasha gets a brief look over and a couple blinks but it seems the criminals are the first concern. For the moment.

Silk has posed:
"Shit, Shit, Shit!" The men in the truck shout, as they break the orb- the gas that's released. Two of the three thugs are easily removed from the back of the truck by Gwen's web-slinging.. But the third? Missing. He wasn't there when the web's should have hit him... Instead, the cloud roils and rolls and turns dark- veins of black threading through grey cloud as it billows. Pulsing with redness.
