Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Rift, Kaydin LeGraize, Professor X

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua was antsy to get home. She did her best not to use her mutant powers while hospital-bound - she had a full cast on her arm which was broken by gunshot - but the bone's healing well and her arm is in a light cast now - it'll be there for a week. Worried about what happened after getting hurt - with her powers becoming unreliable, she called the school and requested a pickup. So she is waiting, sitting impatiently on the hospital bed, tapping on her phone with her hand. Good thing it was her off-hand that was hurt. She waits in the lobby, the release paperwork all signed (provisionally - she's a ward of the school).

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin had heard one of the students was in the hospital so he came to see, bringing a get well balloon from the supermarket. He slows down enough to be seen as he approaches the woman. "You okay?" He asks as he moves to hand her the balloon. He then looks around. "So expecting someone to pick you up?" He asks curiously.

Professor X has posed:
"Miss Alua," comes the warm, calm voice of what can only be Professor Xavier. She called for a pick up, perhaps expecting a car from one of the other members of staff to jump into, but she's pulled a probably rather surprising draw instead. "I'm very glad to see you are on the mend," Xavier continues, entering the waiting room more fully with a dodge of several chairs: relative grace, considering the spacial requirements of his own chair.
"I hope you don't mind my coming to see you myself," the older man says, with a slight amused touch into his eyes. He has a simply wrapped parcel in his lap, neatly tucked inside some clear cellophane, hands folded near it. "Hello, Mr. LeGraize," he says smoothly to Kaydin.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua squeaks as she rises to her feet, bowing. "Professor Xavier," she murmurs, awed by what happened. "I wasn't expecting a hero's welcome..." She glances at Kaydin. "Hey Kaydin, thanks for coming to visit me. I'm fine - just... my arm hurts some. I should have the cast off in a week. And I don't mind at all, Professor." She ponders. "I didn't want to risk my usual travel methods." She smiles to the doctors as she prepares to head out.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Professor." Kaydin says as he stands up a little straighter. He then looks to Kitora and goes to try and help her and the professor out the door. "There was another riot in mutant town. I had to help break it up." He says as he watches the woman. He then turns to the professor. "Is there anything else you need in the city, Professor Xavier?" He asks curiously.

Professor X has posed:
"It isn't a balloon, but I've brought you a bit of something as well," Professor Xavier says, with a mild edge of apology, since, of course, it wasn't a balloon. The non-balloon cellophane wrapped item is offered, should she like to investigate it. The contents? Several submarine sandwiches. "I hope you'll forgive me already having had mine," he adds, with and edge of amusement, freeing her to eat whatever she wishes of it. "And perhaps not being here enough, when these things do happen to students." A slight crease of dismay clouds his face. But it passes.
He turns his head to Kaydin's question. "I hope that I am done in the city for now, but as soon as I leave, no doubt we'll remember something," he chuckles. "There's space if you would like to ride with us," he offers to Kaydin as well, leaving it open, perhaps aware the Speedster may prefer his own methods. He is very clearly listening to the comments about the riots, but doesn't bring up questions on it in the hospital lobby. "Thank you very much," he says as Kaydin helps with the door.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua glances at Kaydin, slumping. "Wow. That's..." She sighs softly. "The whole thing in DC has made things worse, hasn't it?" she muses softly as she glances at the package. "Wow, after four days of hospital food, I was about ready to go cannibal." She smiles at Kaydin, tucking the string of the balloon into her belt and awkwardly trying to open a sandwich and starts to chow down. "Thanks, Kaydin," she mumbles, mouth full, as she took out one sandwich before they even got to the vehicle. "Professor... my abilities went... erratic... after the injury. I... I was scared to try my usual chain-portals home... or to fly. I... was it fear... or pain...?" She shivers as she climbs into the vehicle.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"You would think saving lives would include decent food." Kaydin says with a smile to the woman and nods. "Something magical was making the people riot. Atleast thats what I was told when help showed up." He says as he nods. He then looks to the professor. "I wouldnt mind a ride. Saves my shoes." He says as he grins at the man and he looks to Kitora. "You will get your abilities back with time." He says to the woman.

Professor X has posed:
The Professor takes longer to enter the vehicle, being that he has to deal with the chair's integration into it. He doesn't have a driver, so there's a technological solution that's no doubt a little interesting to watch. Passer-by don't seem to mind at all, though, or even pay any notice to any of them. It's useful to have the Xavier buffer, when it's better for things to just go smoothly.
"All of those things can effect concentration and confidence, even those with a great deal of training," Charles gently answers. "It takes time to develop different answers to stress or injury. But always remember there is more than /just/ relying on your abilities. You have friends, resources. There's no need to be so hard on yourself and what you can or can't do in the moment," he continues. "And I'm happy to be the one to bring you home," Xavier says, turning his head some in the front seat to incline it to her, needing her to see his calm expression. She's not a problem or a bother. And he sends a similar smile to Kaydin, approving of his support to Kitora, before turning more of his attention to the journey back.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "It's the first time I was seriously injured..." she muses softly as she takes the front seat. She starts to eat a second sandwich. "This puts things in a new perspective. I wanted to join the X-Men to make a difference. I didn't really think about what'd happen if I lost. I didn't even see it coming. Cyberdragon and I dealt with the first wave... I can easily snag a molotov cocktail and fire it back. I thought I heard something and flew up - and then before I knew it, I heard a bang. I tried to use a gravity field to deflect the bullet.... I think I did deflect it from my torso... if I didn't..." She trails off. "I... might not be having this conversation..." She goes quiet. "Thank you, Professor. Your leadership has made all the difference in my life."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"You will get better. With practice you will be able to help those out with your abilities." Kaydin says as he climbs into the backseat. He then looks to the professor as he gets into the car, and then looks back to Kitora. "If you need help, just give the word. Lately I been busy with my art projects."

Professor X has posed:
Sometimes the best thing to do is just to listen. And Professor Xavier does that now while driving, he listens to her talk in his sympathetic way. "There are ways to practice dealing with projectiles like that, indeed. Should you want that, we can work on it. But there will always be something that can get through... and working through that truth, and the reality after, can be much harder than deflecting bullets," Xavier says as she goes quiet. He's clearly open to talking more -- though he doesn't push even a little bit. It's on her terms. To the back seat, the professor addresses: "Anything new that's ready to show me?" in interest.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "I need to learn how to defend myself. Maybe... learning how to project my abilities at a longer range..." She sighs softly. "Maybe I'll focus on cooking for a bit longer." She glances over at the Professor, back to Kaydin, going quiet as she eats a third sandwich. "Did I do the right thing? Defending Mutant Town when the situation arose?" she asks. "I feel it was right - I just need to learn how to handle crisis situations... and how to continue to fight while injured..." She sighs softly. "I suppose what I need to do now is see if I can start calling my powers now... well... maybe not while the car is on the road..." She goes quiet again - most of that was quiet - as if she was talking to herself. "Think things will get worse with the... presidental assassination, Professor?"

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Defending anyone who needs it is always the right thing to do." Kaydin says as he watches the woman and looks out the window. He then gets his phone out and shows a picture of the X-men defending against sentinels on a building wall. "Just completed this one the other day." He says as he goes to show the picture to Kitora. He then looks to Xavier.

Professor X has posed:
"In my experience... usually things have a way of getting much worse before they get better, and planning for the difficulty ahead is our best response," The professor says in a way that suggests he's very strongly withholding back more about that particular topic at this moment. The strain isn't evident, but that he'd rather speak of her powers for now, that's pretty clear: "There is a time and place, and the middle of traffic is not the best; at least let the sandwiches digest a little -- just like before you'd go swimming," Professor Xavier teases her a little bit in agreement. "Well. What do you think you'd be feeling how, had you turned away from Mutant Town?" Professor Xavier asks her instead.

The picture showing gets a brief motion of hand in a 'one moment' gesture, as he's driving, but will look at a stoplight. "All sprayed, or brushwork as well?"

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua just blinks, as she considers, tugging on her hair as she finishes the fifth sandwich, saving the last one for later. "I..." She trails off. "I would be ashamed of myself if I was there and did nothing," she states, turning to gaze at the picture. "Wow - that's awesome," she coooos as she gets her own phone out and shows a picture of her own - a gorgeous souffle. "Making a souffle is very tricky - but this is my best effort to date." She smiles softly as she ponders. "My main error in that fight - was flying up to look. I am hardly subtle when I power on - I glow. And my head and heart glow brighter. I made myself a beacon flare." She ponders. "I have to think about how better to do this."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"That looks gorgeous and delicious." Kaydin says as he looks to her picture and looks to Xavier as he drives. "Thats just spray. Stencils and stuff." He says as he adjusts his pack. He then looks to Kitora and nods. "Well next time you need help, just send word. I can get to the city in a heartbeat." He says with a nod.

Professor X has posed:
"Then I think, if you would have been ashamed... you know the answer, and should be proud of it; I am." A pause. "Sometimes having an 'obvious' target can help your teammates when they need it, but it does have some downsides to personal stealth," Xavier smiles at her a little bit. "But sometimes side-effects to powers, such as excessive light emission, is something you can reduce." He glances into the rearview mirror once to smile at Kaydin's offer of help. No need to encourage these to work together, it seems!
"As for that souffle, if it tasted half as well as it appears, I've definitely missed out," Xavier says sadly, but his general attitude has turned more... vibrant, really, in the company of the eager, creative teens.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "Then - soon as I get this cast off - you'll find out for yourselves. As my knights in shining armor, rescuing me from the realm of food sadness - I'll make each of you a souffle. Single-serving each..." She trails off. "A single serving for a normal person that is." She ponders. "I don't know the last time I actually went the full distance between the city and Xavier's by car..." She smiles faintly as she realizes they're almost there - she can see the top of the mansion as they are approaching.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin smiles. "sounds like a plan to me." He says as he sees the mansion. He then looks to the various people and nods. He leans back in his seat and waits for them to pull up to the mansion. "Can I borrow your notes on Mr. Summers class, physics isnt my strongsuit." He asks kitora.

Professor X has posed:
The mansion is ahead, and there's zero security measures needed for this particular car - they just cruise on in without any stopping at all. And the parking? Well. That's quite close to the main set of buildings, naturally. "I look forward to that, but no hurry. I'll be around for it, /when/ your arm is healed," Xavier reminds in dad-voice. "Until then, one-armed jello will have to suffice," he concludes in a deadpan, long-suffering tone. And waves them inside.
Xavier smiles briefly as the note-sharing is mentioned by Kaydin. "Don't let me keep you; enjoy your Saturday," he bids them, with good cheer. And, though it is apparent he has something else that needs his attention, he is making sure they're good to go. And with that, he'll glide off into the main hall, headed for the elevator, greeting students as they pass.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua just stands there and watches Xavier leave. "One-armed jello...?" she mumbles, shocked. "Wow. I... I'd never..." She glances at Kaydin. "Sure - I'll send them over. I'm just trying to build up my courage to see if I can power up... I'm a bit scared of what'd happen." She starts heading towards her room.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"If you want to power up you can. I can react quick enough to catch you should you need it." Kaydin says as he tries to help her to the best of his ability. He then looks to the woman. "So you going to become a fancy chef someday?" He asks curiously.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods slowly as she takes a deep breath, wincing as she tries to stretch her arms. She starts to glow - or tries to. The glow is flickering as she blinks rapidly between her normal appearance and the powered form that so many have seen her in. "It's... hard to hold it..." she whines.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Dont need to force it. Last thing you need to do is force it and makes it hurt." He says as he watches the woman and he waits. He looks to his phone's time and then puts it back into his pocket as his attention is on the girl.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods slowly as she manages to stay glowing this time. "You're right... I don't want to try to gravity-shift if I could fall... and I'm not reallysure what an unstable portal would do..." She slumps. "This is going to suck. I..." She trails off. "No. This is good for me. I've gotten too reliant on using my powers whenever I wanted."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Atleast you can turn your powers off. For me, everything is hella slow all the time. I can probably juggle chainsaws and not get hurt." He says with a smile as he watches her.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "So can I," she muses softly. "Let's try something easy," she muses as she walks along - as a few loose stones get caught up in her gravitational field and start to orbit her. "Hmmmm," she muses. "But if I try to use my abilities - I look like this. It's nightmarish to some." Her body glows dully, and somewhat translucently, with bright liens of red light visible inside her arms, legs, chest, and head. She takes a step, bumps against something, gasping in shock as her glow suddenly winks out with a clatter of stones. "Ow."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin watches her and looks to the rock. When she glows he remains nearby. When she says ow and the glow winks out he nods. "Guess you are going to take it easy. I can run errands for you." He says as he claps his hand. "Anything you need at the moment?" He asks curiously.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua slumps. "Yeah... just a week..." She ponders. "Do you know a healer?" she asks softly. "I thought I heard that someone around here can heal stuff..." She ponders. "Well... I need company. This is kinda depressing." She smiles faintly. "One-armed jello, huh? I guess I could manage that." She starts heading towards the cafeteria. "Oh right, I need this week's lectures from Mr. Summers- I missed a few days of classes."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"I can bring you what I got. I just dont got what his recent class was." Kaydin says as he zooms off and comes back with books and notebooks and offers them to her. "This is what I got." He says as he watches her.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "That'd be helpful." She clicks her tongue as she studies the paperwork, nodding. "So - what shall we do now?" she asks. "Is it fun, running so fast?" she asks. "I can fly at 500 MPH while shifting... more or less."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"It is addictive. I have hard times believing how slow I was. Everything happens at a snail's pace and thus easy to decide. Can even catch bullets." He says as he smirks as he reaches into a pocket and pulls out a perfect nine mil bullet. "First bullet I ever caught." He says as he offers it to her.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua looks at the bullet, sighing softly. "I was not so lucky," she mutters softly. "I think he was aiming for my heart - which was oh-so-conveniently highlighted. I'm lucky I was able to deflect it to just my arm." She gazes at it, then hands it back.

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Just means you need armor in those vital spots." Kaydin says with a smile as he watches her. "So you seriously going to join the X-men? I heard about them, and I am not sure I match the requirements. I am not a mutant, just a kid who got struck by lightning." He says as he watches her.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua shrugs. "I don't see that it matters - you might as well be a mutant." She sighs softly. "Think of it this way. Normal humans won't fear you because of a genetic marker. They'll fear you because of your abilities. It is the goal of the X-Men to achieve... harmony. Sadly, that is not easy. Especially with terrorists like Magneto. Pity - I actually ran into him two weeks ago before... DC... and he seemes like such a nice man."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin nods as he listens to the woman. "He is charismatic. That is sometimes enough to get people rallied to your cause. People dont respond well to change. My tribe originally owned the land around seattle and we were cheated out of it." Kaydin says as he shakes his head.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua shrugs. "Yeah. So was Hitler. Look what that led us. IF this keeps up, poeple will utter the two names in the same breath." She sighs softly. "Oh - you're Native American? I din't really pay much attention to race these days - especially here where people look all different. I mean, an Asian girl with flaming red hair is weird on its own right."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Mother was a native american, father was a white biker." Kaydin says as he watches her and nods. He zooms off and comes back with a bottle of soda, mountain dew, and offers it to the woman. "Do you need anything to eat or drink?" He asks curiously.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua shrugs. "Nah - even for me, six subs is filling." She smiles softly. "What's your favorite school subject?" she asks. "And do you know anything about the X-Men?" she asks. "I think I'm a fan of Nightcrawler."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Art. Lets me draw for fun." He says as he watches the girl and chuckles. "Mr Wagner is cool, dont get me wrong, but I think Logan is badass. Man has a metal skeleton and claws, and can heal from anything. I whine like a little girl when I stub my toe." He says as he sighs from it.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "You have your art - I have my food. But I can't cook really for a week or so." She nods slowly. "Yes - one would think that having that much metal would wiegh one down..."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
"Then you have no choice but to eat what is in the cafeteria. Heaven forbid." He says as he watches her. "Wouldnt mind trying to eat your cooking. I eat alot like you." He says as he sips his soda and his phone chirps. He pulls it out and checks it. "Hey I need to go. You good here??" He asks watching her.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "I bet - ever get kicked out of an all-you-can-eat buffet? I have." She nods slowly. "Alright. I'll be around. Keep in touch." She smiles as she starts walking towards her room, wishing she could just portal in like she normally does. She hopes she doesn't get lost in the corridors.
