Cast of Characters: Captain Marvel (Danvers), Rogue

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
It's been awhile since Carol confronted Rogue, forgave her, and then had a chance to see her when they helped save those kids from Genosha. She wonders how the young woman is doing, and took some time off her busy schedule to go to the area where Rogue should be hanging out usually. Waiting with her aviator sunglasses, leather jacket and jeans. This is all meant to be quite casual, just a simple check up, she doesn't expect any serious drama. More or less, she wants to show Rogue she remembers their discussion, and is invested in her work towards becoming a worthwhile hero.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue was passing through the Park and it wouldn't take toooooo long for Carol to stop her, she had that distinctive hairstyle afterall. She had a dark green wool beanie on her head and a black wool coat on her upperbody with blue jeans and boots on her feet. She had her phone out and was walking with it, a backpack hooked over her shoulders...

Rogue actually looked up and noticed Carol not too far from her, her eyes initially went WIDE and then she remembered they were 'friendly' now? So she tried to get a normal expression back onto her face as she approached the blonde.

A smile was summoned across her pink hued lips. "Well heya there, Hot Stuff. What are you doin' in my neck'a the woods?" She tried to break the ice with a bit of silly charming dialogue while she slipped her phone back into her winter coat's pocket.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Just wanted to see how you're holding, see how you get on with your life...are you still trying to be a hero?" Carol asks curiously, her eyes following Rogue's motion of placing her phone in her coat's pocket, "hey, you can pay attention to someone over a phone when you talk, so kudos there."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue showed a light grin at the last words that Carol said but the first ones just got kind of a dopey look and then a shake of her head. "I haven't heard from Scott for awhile." She knew that Carol was clued-in on the X-Men thing, so she didn't have to hide it from her. "I think he's doin' his own thing... or he doesn't have any faith in me afterall... I mean, not many of them really even wanted me on the team anyhow... after what I did to you. Xavier kinda forced them to accept me, ya know?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Scott? Is he currently in charge?" Yeah, for a while Carol served as the X-Men's pilot for the Blackbird, she knows the group, at least the main guys. "That so? I wasn't aware Xavier forced them...but to be fair, first time I came to kill you, when I was Binary....they stopped me. So, maybe they don't all just hate you?" Carol offers with a wink, figuring since making peace, the ol' Binary trying to blast Rogue through the Mansion from end to end is water under the bridge. Hopefully.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue just shook her head side to side. "Yeah... maybe they don't. I don't know. But I mean, the President of the United States was just killed by Mystique and they ain't even given me a text message t'say like 'Hey, Rogue... wanna come help us out?'" She shook her head then. "Whatever though. But nah, I haven't really been doin' anything heroic of late. Just..." She looked back over her shoulder. "School here... and then a wholely different kinda school over at Strange's place."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol frowns, "that is a bit disconcerting...do you think perhaps they decided to give up?" It doesn't seem a likely possibility, but one would expect the X-Men to at least discuss something like a notorious mutant assassinating the President of the USA. "Do you feel better or worse, withdrawing from heroic life, Rogue?" Carol asks, reaching to place a hand on Rogue's shoulder in a show of support, if the mutant will allow it.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had her gloved hands inside her coat pockets and she just stood there in front of... well... probably the woman she idolized more than any other, even Wonder Woman.

"I don't know." She said softly, the cold winds blowing her white bangs across her face here and there.

"Indifferent? I suppose?" She'd say, inhaling and sighing it back out a second later. "I like helpin' people. But... I've hurt so many others, it almost feels like it makes me a hypocrit t'say I'm some kinda 'hero' now, ya know?"

"And I don't know if they're done doin' X-Group stuff or not. I haven't asked. I went t'see Jubilee the other night, but she's... ya know... Jubilee. She's got a new boyfriend and is just kinda... loopy in the cutest and best way possible. Doesn't seem involved in the X-group anymore either."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"It's not about being some kind of new 'hero', Rogue," Carol tries to explain, "it's about who -you- are...I mean, what they say in the media...it changes, and it's a reflection of a truth, and even that is interperted differently by people exposed to it. What matters is what you are, because you are being yourself. That what matters. If you feel better helping others with no reward, you are a hero." Carol squeezes the hand on Rogue's shoulder a little before removing it, "ultimately, you can decide to lead a normal life, and not bother with heroics at all, and that's still okay."

Carol listens quietly at what Rogue describes with Jubilee and before that with Scott, and offers, "a changing of the guard in progress? Maybe more of the X-Men care about leading a normal life, and less about making a change...the world will be poorer for it, but that's okay too. Nobody forced them to do what they did, and nobody can force them to not stop doing it."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue thought about these words from the other and gently nodded her head to them. "And the powers that I took from you... they're pretty big, and are a shame t'not be used for good t'help the world and the good people within it... Yeah. I get it." She said softly with a little nod.

"Its been hard... Since my stupid failed wedding... and then everything before that. Its been this horrible waterfall of trash since I was a kid, Carol." She opened up a bit more to her.

"The week before Thanksgiving, I drove all the way down t'Mississippi to get my dog that I had when I was six. He's twelve now... Or was." She cleared her throat a little. "When I got there, the lady who I'd talk to over the phone said that he'd died a few days before I showed up! How is that fucking possible, Carol?? How can my luck be -that- bad?!"

She sighed and closed her eyelids, trying not to get overly upset and emotional here in the middle of the park.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"That's what I felt when I got them," Carol relates to Rogue, before taking a moment and adding, "but we don't have the same background. I was USAF, CIA, serving was drilled into me...it was a passion. You may not have the same drives, and it's not fair to hold you to these standards. After all, you were manipulated yourself...you said it was Mystique who put you up to this, right?" Carol seems a bit more reserved, as she speaks of this, perhaps still not fully healed over her own personal feud with Mystique.

"I didn't hear about you getting married, what happened...? Didn't get left at the altar I hope..." Carol has no way of imagining just how badly it went.

When Rogue nearly comes to tears after relating the story about her dog, Carol 'awwws' quietly and reaches to embrace Rogue, "it's only because you're strong enough, Rogue...life throws challenges at us, to see how we respond, the biggest challenge rich barbie dolls get is what to wear...it's a bit more involved for the rest of us."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nodded softly to the other's words and she laughed softly before sniffling some too and fluttering her eyelids to clear them while she looked away at a man walking several dogs at once on a multi-leash setup.

"He died." Rogue said then, putting her eyes back over at Carol. "At the alter. In my arms." She huffed in a breath and let it sort of 'rock' inside of her before she exhaled it again, her stare was distant... past Carol's shoulder. She was trying to BE strong and not be a simpering wuss.

"And SINCE then, I've seen... two or three different versions of him... I don't know what they are? Ghosts, or clones or somethin'... Had others tell me that its the real deal. But... how?" She looked back at Carol.

"I saw him die, he asked me to take his life cause he'd been stabbed through the heart with a -sword-. He wanted t'live on inside'a me... Now there's other versions of him? Its -fucked- -up-. LIke mental torture."

Now she was really opening up, here in public of all places.

"And yes. Mystique is responsible for all the horrible shit in our world." Which might be an exaggeration... a bit.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"What!?" Carol breaks the embrace, but keeps holding Rogue by her shoulders, staring at her, distraught, "that is horrible! Who did it? I will see they answer for it..." Carol is a bit shaken by hearing the particular wedding horror that befall Rogue. This is more than just unlucky. Maybe she draw bad fate from Carol along with her powers and memories?

Carol tilts her head at the mention of having seen her dead groom since, considering, before noting "I 'died' when you didn't let go of me...I came back, and I was -very- different. I think I still am...is it anything like that?" She tries to ask, who knows, maybe Rogue was so freaked out she didn't even try to talk to the wouldbe ghost.

"If you ever feel like talking about it, having gone through every mental torture conceivable...I may be of help," Carol offers as she lets go of Rogue's shoulders, "but it'll need to be in private, not public like this." She then nods, entirely deadpan, "Mystique absolutely is."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue showed a remorseful frown when she heard Carol talk about what she did to her, it was something that haunted her to her core.

"I'm sorry." She said again, she'd said it a lot but she probably never would stop. Her head shook side to side... "Last I saw him he was at the school. Xavier's. That was the day I left to Mississippi. I haven't gone back there since. I don't know. Its pointless. Doctor Strange is the only reason I'm still alive."

Rogue released a heavy exhale then. "But I think he's gettin' sick'a me. He was in Mississippi with me. That -bitch- who said my dog died, called the police on us cause she remembered who I was... remembered that I put a boy in a coma when my mutation first showed up."

Rogue looked back up at Carol. "She just wanted a 'reward' for getting me caught and... well, I think Strange is just sick'a all my drama. Everywhere, I, go. But yeah... anyway... Sorry. I didn't mean to unload on ya." She smirked again at Carol then. "I hope you're okay.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"It's okay...you've said it already, I forgave you," Carol reminds Rogue that it's all in the best, going as far as to reach for Rogue's hair, giving it a bit of an affectionate ruffle, "you're alright, kid."

But Carol does dispense her advise, "I think you should talk to him, that will help you put things in the past and move forward. Also, it will help you affirm that you run from nothing. It's a strong character builder, facing your demon...especially if he turns out to be a literal demon, but then you have a working relation with Dr. Strange? You'll be alright."

Carol laughs at the last bit, "hey, I explicitly came to ask for it, so you just gave me what I wanted...do take me on my offer to meet in private. I think it'll do you good. Glad we had this talk Rogue, take good care of yourself, and let me know how it turned out." Looks like Carol is prepared to move on with her day, lord knows she's got too much on her plate.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nodded her head at Carol's wisdom and advice. "Thanks, and you're right... I've just been hiding my nose in my schooling." She then smiled at Carol. "I'll get ahold of you... I'm sure I could tell you about fifty other things that you wouldn't believe."

Rogue took her phone out of her pocket again and she looked down at it when a text came in. "Strange. Yeah. He's waiting for me back at his place... wants me t'be a weirdo spell caster like him." She looked back up at Carol. "Good t'see ya." She'd say then to the coolest woman on the planet!
