A Park Meeting
Date of Scene: 17 December 2017
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Wonder Woman, Winter Soldier

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana wasn't in the park this afternoon for any particular reason other than to take some time to stroll along outside. She had a meeting later, but it was a ways out still, so after having gotten herself a cup of hot tea... she'd decided to stroll through the park on the fair sunny afternoon.

Diana was dressed in a slim fit brown leather jacket with a red sweater on beneath it, she had on black slacks and black simple shoes. Her hair was atied back into a pony tail and it left her sculpted facial features on full display. Some people in the park would look to her as she walked past them, others would take pics here and there... most seemed to not recognize her though as people were doing their own things.

Diana walked, sipped her hot beverage and occassionally looked down to her cell phone when it would buzz softly with a text.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky enjoyed walking through the park because it allowed him to just...be with his thoughts. The broken memories of a broken man often needed such in order to even begin to be put back together. Ironically enough, he in the vicinity of Wonder Woman, walking in a straight line as he just thinks. Thinks about the war. Thinking about forgiving himself...thinking about how he didn't deserve such things.

Unlike how pleasant and amazing Diana must have looked, Bucky dressed to be incognito. Sure, he was under SHIELD's protection the U.S....but there's always someone who wants to take down the Winter Soldier. Especially HYDRA. He wore a rugged looking black coat with a dark red longsleeve shirt underneath it, gloves covered both of his hands to both keep warm and to hide his metallic prosthetic. black jeans covered his legs, and combat boots covered his feet. An old Yankees baseball cap covered his head.

But then...he saw her. He paused right in his step as if seeing a ghost from the past...but a ghost whose name he couldn't place, a face he remembered like a shattered tapestry. He stands there a moment, perhaps rudely staring...but many questions remain. shallow breaths visible in the cold weather.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana's blue eyes were down on her phone as she walked with it in her left hand and her drink in the other held down near her right hip. She was aware of what was around her, but not enough to take notice of Bucky's face and pinpoint it back 80 years ago to a train ride and one enjoyable evening.

Sure the Amazon Princess had impecable memory, but she hadn't thought about that evening in a very long time and she'd heard long ago that that nice man had passed away in that very same terrible war.

Diana passed Bucky on his right side, she was in the process of sending a text and raising her drink up to her lips for a sip. After she passed him by her phone was lowered down to her left side again and she looked right to left, watching the park goers enjoying their day similarly to herself.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky looked right at Diana as she stood up and walked towards him. Though most of her attention was clearly on her phone, Bucky was frozen. Perhaps debating if he should even attempt to speak to her....what if she's an enemy? What if, during his tenure as the Winter Soldier, he attempted to murder this woman? Such things prodded at his mind and heart. But then he realized that no risk is too great if it means finding out who he was before.

As she stood there a moment behind him, Bucky turned half-way and put his hand on her shoulder for the briefest second before releasing her. It wasn't a threatening touch, nor was it significant of any sort of danger. But the kind of touch that perhaps said 'hey, can I have your attention for a moment?' or as friendly as that of a friend seeing a long-lost one. When, or if, she turned to look at him, he'd greet her with an almost blank look, but even she could tell it was a man looking for answers where a complicated question exists.

"I don't...I don't know how...I don't know why..." he mutters, looking right into her eyes. "But I know you..from a long time ago. Do...you know me?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana was a tall woman, she stood at 6'0" even without shoes on, but with them she generally pushed an inch or more beyond that. So when the touch to her shoulder came she could feel it was from a larger/taller person which had her turning around pretty quickly just because she hadn't expected it.

Her blue eyes went right to his blank face and she stared at him with an almost equally blank expression. But after he spoke and a second or two passed beyond she lowered her black eyebrows and squinted her eyes while turning her head just a little in a tilt.

"James?" She said to the man. She hadn't thought about him in so long, it wasn't... expected, to suddenly see him. When she had known him, she'd known a heroic soldier who passessed a lot of charisma and charm, but he'd seemed to be someone who'd never naturally live this long... even if his reported death in the war hadn't been true.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky tilted his head at Diana, recalling the words that Steve Rogers said to him.

'Your name is James Buchanon Barnes'

But everyone called him Bucky...was he close to this woman? was she someone he shared romance with? or simply a friend? So many questions without many answers. "I..don't know." he answers when she speaks his name. "But you....your name...I can't." he rubs his head a moment. Someting -must- have happened to him. But then the memories start to form.

A train..a talk..the asking of a dance...but such memories are so broken he doesn't remember where they were specifically, what he was doing.

"I met you...on a train..." a moment later. "I owed you a dance." he says with uncertainty.

Wonder Woman has posed:
When the man didn't deny her response she was sure that this must in fact be him, somehow...

Diana glanced at a couple who was seated at an outdoor table beside them along the pavement next to the green grass park.

She'd reach out toward his arm and motion himn to step off to the side of the pathway with him and into the edge of the grass park. "James... Barnes." She told him. "We met on a train ride in Europe. We had dinner together and shared a pleasant evening of conversation... Eighty four years ago."

The confused expression remained on Diana's face and she put her hand then to her chest, her phone pressed against her own red sweater there. "I am Diana, Prince." It might confuse him how SHE is here just as much as it does for her why he is.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky looked at Diana when she explained the circumstances of their meeting...84 years ago. Though if that's the case...how on earth does Diana only look in her mid to late twenties? Such things didn't add up. "But...if it was that long ago, how do you look so young?" he asks her curiously, hands still rested at his sides as he looks for answers. Though it's when she says her name that the memories piece themselves together juuust a little more. He starts to vocally recall.

"Diana...I was on a mission then...I saw you. I think I attempted to flirt....you were restoring art?" he asks, though all this sounds jumbled as the memories flow in messy and dirty.

"I'm...sorry..I don't remember much." he takes a step back then like perhaps this was a mistake. "You don't have to talk if you have your secrets..."

Wonder Woman has posed:
When he was confused by her being here just as much as she was for him, she gently nodded her head one time to him. "I never got an opportunity to tell you... and to be honest... I generally never spoke of it to anyone." She started, a level gaze on him. "I am an Amazonian from the island of Themyscira. It is public knowledge now today, in this age of great danger to our world around every corner. I am an immortal, James... I serve the people in the name of peace and justice. I use what... powers that the Gods gifted onto me, to keep our home protected."

All of this was said to him softly and calmly, a low tone of voice... her voice itself might even sound familar to him on some level as the accent yet remains all these years later.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky listens to Diana as she speaks, though when she reveals who she really is, he tilts his head. "Amazon...immortal?" he tilts his head. "So you're a hero then...so many things have changed." he shakes his head lightly. "Thanks for looking out for us." he says seriously..because well, what else can you say to that?

"You don't want to know who I was..." he states then. "I know I was a soldier....a sergeant, I think...a museum said I served with Captain America." and at that point, Diana can probably realize that Bucky is a broken man. SOmething severe happened to his mind...and his body. He shakes his head a moment then, straightening out his baseball cap. "I was a weapon." he states softly, though he doesn't elaborate.

Even she can see the scars left on his soul.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana could clearly see the turmoil inside of him and that something bad had happened to him. But he was here, right? He was alive, which is something great, right?

A little nod was given to him. "You had mentioned serving with Captain America, yes." She told him. "And that you were a sergeant also... We parted ways with the intention of trying to meet one another again soon in whichever European city would could manage, once the war was over."

A little pause took over there as she searched for the words to continue with. "I had read that you were killed in action, James." She told him then, choosing to just lay it out there. "I'd mourned for the loss of a friend there-after... And, now, well... aside from the confusion and the worry, I am very pleased to see you."

Winter Soldier has posed:
Barnes knew that he had died serving in WW2. he also read that in the museum of history....however, when he hears that she had mourned his loss, he looks at her apologetically. "I'm sorry....I'll find a way to make it up to you." he says with a kindness and warmness for her. Though it's filled with regret.

"I'm sorry I put a raincheck on our meeting....guess I made up for it. Much has happened. I didn't...die, I just remember falling." ironically, also from a train, but he takes a depe breath, looking down with a small shake of his head. How broken he is. It's almost unbearable. Anyone else may have decided to bite the bullet, but Barnes is a stubborn man.

Wonder Woman has posed:
The words that he said to her then and now made her show an expression of compassion. Diana's right hand reached out to take hold of his left elbow through his jacket. She gave him a comforting squeezing with said hand and her head shook right to left.

"James." She started, voice soft. "You do not have to 'make it up to me'." She'd respond. "You did nothing wrong to me."

Diana's hand would slowly pull back to join her other now in front of her lap, she'd put her phone away but she still had that cup of tea.

"It thrills me to see that you are alive. I mean, that is something words cannot easily express... So that is more than enough to make me smile." And she showed him this, by smiling right at him, hoping that it might make him feel some amount of good.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky looked to his elbow when Diana reached out to hold it, show him comfort with that squeeze, then he looks back to Diana, the utter sadness in his eyes like he just found another person that he had failed. He didn't come home. He never saw many of his friends again. Regardless, when she forgives him easily, he smiles to her with a warmness, the same smile he had shown her all those years ago.

"It's good to see you too, Diana...though I'm sorry I can't rmemeber much..I was captured." he sighs then, and where only she can see, he takes off his glove on his left hand to reveal a little bit of his vibranium hand. "You're not the only one who time has affected...even if it was only very little." he shrugs then, but he looks genuinely pleased to see her.

"..I still owe you a dance." he smiles to her then.

Wonder Woman has posed:
The Amazonian's blue eyes looked down at the metal glint from the revealed part of his arm and she started to get a deeper insight into the injuries that seemingly effected both Bucky's mind as well as his body.

Diana released a light exhale and her eyes went back up to him, she softly smiled at his words and she tilted her head to the side while reaching out to touch his arm again now just above the metal wrist that he'd shown of to her.

"We can worry about dancing for when your spirits are better. Right now, I am just wanting to bask in the knwoledge that that dreadful war did not claim -all- of the good souls that it seemingly had." She'd show another little smile to him then.

"Are you staying somewhere here in New York?" She'd ask him then.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky noticed her look when he showed her his arm, but regardless, at her words about being more than happy that her knowledge of him being alive made her overjoyed. He chuckles himself softly, but in a more reclusive manner when she asks him where he's staying. He shakes his head a moment, though he gives her a soft smile. "Um...not really. I have a few caches left where I can stay. But I can't stay there long. I don't have somewhere to stay." he shrugs then, might as well be honest to the lady who, unknown to him, can use a truth lasso.

"What about you? Are you staying in New York?" he asks her curiously, his eyes never leaving hers for a single moment. "I'm just happy I have another person that I can come back to after..." a small sigh then.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana nodded then to Bucky and she considered his words. "I cannot allow you to remain homeless, James." She'd tell him then and her head would shake right to left. "I live here in Manhattan. I am a public representitive to my island, who has an Embassy on the east side." That was a very brief explanation from the black haired woman but she had more on her mind than that.

"Let me place a call and secure you a home to rest yourself within?" She'd say to him, posing it a question but she was already pulling her phone back out of her pocket. "I have a lot of friends, James. Let me give you a little bit of peace to help you."

It is what Diana did for almost everyone, but especially those that she held any measure of friendship and feelings for.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky gives Diana a small look when she says that she can't let Bucky be homeless, but when he hears that she is an ambassador and has an embassy, he raises his brows for a single moment. Well, that changes things. Last time he checked, she was recovering art and artifacts. A warm smile then is offered to Diana as she offers to give him a home. A -home-.

"Diana...you don't have to do that...but" he takes a breath, looking her right in the eyes. "Thank you, Diana. You're far to kind to me than I deserve..." he says with a warmness. He hadn't met anyone like Diana back then, and he certainly hasn't met anyone like her now. She truly was a diamond in the rough.

Wonder Woman has posed:
What might tip off Bucky to Diana's 'important' even more is that the length of the conversation she held with whomever it was that she used her cell phone to call... didn't even last more a couple minutes at most. She'd shared some brief pleasantries with someone and then stated what she needed and with just a few 'Uh huhs' she thanked the person and hung up.

Diana put her phone back into her stylish leather jacket pocket again and then smiled to him. "The Croft Centre is near to my Embassy. It has a small apartment complex on the middle floors of its skyrise facility. You have a home there now... I've arranged it with the CEO of the company and they will be expecting you at the front desk."

Once more Diana would reach out for his forearm.

"You do not have to worry about anything, so long as you come to me to ask for help." She'd tell him, showing another soft smile then.

Winter Soldier has posed:
Bucky smiles to her warmly, and when she reached out for his forearm, he turned his gloved hand upwards so that he could hold hers in return. Perhaps a moment to bond, or perhaps a recollection of Barnes flirtateous nature that he remembered....before he was the Winter Soldier. Regardless, the fact that she even offered is a blessing in and of itself.

He doesn't mind her call one moment. He knows she's a busy woman, though when she tells him that she's officially arranged for him to have a home, his eyes actually go wide for a moment. She actually did it?! He gives her the warmest smile. "Thank you, Diana. Know that if you ever need me, I'll be there." he lets silence overtake them as he looks right into her eyes.
