Christmas Tree Ritual

Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: X-Man, Jubilee

X-Man has posed:
After they gathered their tree, cleaned up their mess, Nate and Jubilee packed up their things to fly back to Westchester. With a glow from his eye, Nate lifted them up as well as gathering their new tree, and headed back from the Alps. It didn't take them any time at all, and Jubilee can feel Nate's excitement about this whole 'tree decorating ritual'.

Once they land outside, Nate keeps the tree levitated, and follows Jubilee into the house. "Ok, so we've got a tree, it's got some dirt but no water..." Nate adds, brow furrowed in thought, "...we're not plantin' it in the house, right?" Because that would be entirely too odd. "So, how do we keep it alive without water?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Oh no, I have just the thing!" Jubilee hops up and trots toward the back door of the cabin, then slips outside. Returning momentarily, she is hauling in half a whiskey barrel. "I was gonna plant flowers in this, but I think Tree-y will be quite happy in it for now. Whatcha think?" She sets the oak half-barrel down beside the tree as if it weighs the same as a plastic tub.

X-Man has posed:
Nate turns his gaze back to the small floating tree as Jubilee heads out the back door. He tilts his head a little, seeing the spots where the tree failed to grow, and wondering if there's something he can do to keep it healthy until they can plant it outside. When Jubilee comes back inside, he nods his head in agreement, "Yeah, I think that'll work out." Nate agrees, and puts the tree with dirt into the barrel. "Ok, how we have it in a barrel, what's next?"

Jubilee has posed:
"First it needs water." Jubilee slips back to the sun room and grabs a watering can, returning to wet the soil. "And now...we decorate it!" She chirps happily as she explains the process. "We'll use...Uh....oh...."

X-Man has posed:
Once there's water in the barrel, Nate nods his head, "Ok, I'll make sure it stays that way. You want to plant it after we're done with the Christmas tree thing, right?" Nate frowns a little when he see's Jubilee stop at the explanation of decorating the tree, "What do we decorate it with?" and he looks into the thoughts that pop up on the surface of her mind, "Ahhh.. ok.. lights and stuff..."

Nate looks back to the tree, his eye glowing a bit brighter, and Jubilee will see small stars start popping up around the tree. He will make the lights, red, green, yellow, and white. It looks as if there is a small constellation forming around their little tree. "Somethin' like that?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Ohh..." Jubilee stares at the tree, transfixed. She stares until there are tears in her eyes, and she looks back at Nate. "It's so....so perfect. Like you. Only a tree. So not exactly like you at all except for y'know, the light. Cause you have a light too. Well, sometimes two when I feed and your other eye glows blue..." She's rambling to keep from crying. And it's working. Mostly. She flies into a hug, holding Nate tightly, and a tear slips down her cheek.

X-Man has posed:
Nate quietly holds Jubilee as he finishes up 'decorating the tree'. He runs his hand through her hair, placing a kiss on the top of her head, "It's ok Jubes. We'll find some ornaments to put on it too!" Once he's done, he builds a glowing dragon as the 'Star' for the tree, with small spurts of light that will fire from it's mouth periodically. Once he's done, he asks, "What do you think?" He grins, waiting for her to look, and then adds "What's next? Got a tree. It has lights. Now what do we do?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Ohh I do have one ornament..." She looks back at the tree and gasps breathlessly. "Oh...wow, Nate. That is...just amazing." Her eyes are some mixture of gold and blue, but they are glowing with rapt joy. She smiles brightly at Nate and goes to a cabinet in the kitchen, climbing up to stand on the counter, because that's what short people do.

Pulling down a box, she hops down and carries it to Nate. "I made it..."

X-Man has posed:
"Thanks!" Nate replies back, genuine happiness at her reaction and a small amount of pride that colors his feeling between their shared link. When she comes over with the box, he takes it from her, asking "Ohhh.. What is this? You always make the best stuff..." and carefully opens the box so they can put /it/ back inside the box when he's their done with the tree.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee smiles as he opens the box, blushing at the compliment. Inside sits a bronze dragon. His chest is open, revealing clockwork gears and a deep red heart bearing the number one in gold.

"Because y'know...someday we'll be looking back at our ornaments, and remember this was from our first Christmas together. Our first year..."

X-Man has posed:
"Wow!" Nate says, impressed and extremely happy with the ornament inside, "It looks so freakin' cool, Jubes!" and he pulls her into a hug. A light kiss brushes her lips, his nose nuzzling her own, and he asks "Ok, so what do we do with it? Just put it on the tree?" He let's go of her to put the box down, and head back over to the tree. "We'll have like fifty of these in no time!"

Jubilee has posed:
"Fifty...I kinda like the sound of that." Jubilee holds Nate tightly before releasing him to put the ornament on the tree. "Yeah, wherever you want. I built a hook onto it, cause it might be too heavy for those flimsy little ornament hooks. It'll look great wherever you hang it, you seem to be an expert at decorating Christmas trees."

X-Man has posed:
"Ahhh..." Nate nods his head in understanding seeing the hook, and moves over to the tree. He finds a spot in front, underneath the glowing dragon, and puts the two in line. "What do you think? Looks pretty awesome, I think!" He takes a few steps back, standing next to Jubilee, and taking her hand in his. "I like it. This was fun. We do this every year?"

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee nods, beaming at Nate. "I wish I'd gotten more ornaments...It should be a lot more fun than just one." She looks frustrated with her own scattered brain. "All I have are a bunch of those little spatulas I grabbed for ninja spatula attacks on Rogue. But yeah, every year. And we wrap up little gifts and put them under the tree..."

X-Man has posed:
"Ok, gifts are easy enough..." Nate nods his head, thinking about how he's going to work this out, "...ornaments we can get later. I think it looks awesome, and we don't want to mess it up too bad if we're gonna plant it when we're done." He wraps an arm over her shoulder, adding "We should invite Rogue over for the gifts, right? I bet she'd like that. Plus it means we can put more gifts there."

Jubilee has posed:
Grinning at Nate, Jubilee wraps her arms around his waist and hugs tight. "We should TOTALLY invite her over. That way I can ninja spatula attack her, too."
