Cast of Characters: Redstar, Shadowlite

Redstar has posed:
It is evening and Vicky lays on her stomach watching the TV. Currently it is playing The Two Towers. She clutches a pillow from the bed beneath her chest. Near to hand on the coffee table is several empty cans of coke. She isn't wearing any shoes, but is kicking her legs up in the air as her wings are draped limply across the furniture where they aren't folded. Even though it seems she is watching the movie her eyes are unfocused and the teen seems to be deep in thought. As such she isn't really paying attention to the apartment around her.

Shadowlite has posed:
It's kind of hard to miss the growing black hole that suddenly appears, along with the black 'arcs' of 'lightning' that appear from said hole. It's also hard to miss that it takes a full ten seconds before anything happens... before suddenly having Shadowlite 'flying' out of it on a black disk... which promptly disappears, depositing the black clad man on the ground just off the balcony.

Seeing the Two Towers and his guest? He looks back, and forth... and back. "Have a thing for Jackson films?" Shadowlite quips as he strips out of his trenchcoat.

Redstar has posed:
Vicky still jumps in surprise at the sound of Shadowlite's voice, turning to look over her shoulder with wide eyes. "Shadowlite!" She says with a smile and obvious joy at his presence. She might be a little people starved. She slides up and over the back of the couch and coming to actually hug him. "I hadn't heard from you for awhile and was worried," She says as she pulls back blushing a bit at her own spontaneous affection. "Ummm, here," She reaches to take the trenchcoat, obviously meaning to hang it up.

Shadowlite has posed:
"I'm not going to say no to a pretty thing taking my clothes off." Shadowlite observes shamelessly as he is helped, "I've been busy pestering my contacts for work. I only got a couple offers, none of them worth a damn." Shadowlite replies sadly. "The only one with decent money was one asking for the destruction of a few city blocks to grab some super attention. Obviously not doing that without good reason; too much heat from that sort of thing." Down to his Darkforce suit, Shadowlite plops his ass right onto the recliner in the safehouse, "So! You seem a bit more cheerful than before." He relaxes, spreading his arms on the arms, and his legs hapazardly.

Redstar has posed:
Vicky retreats to the closet where she hangs the trenchcoat up. It allows for the blush on her cheeks to fade some when she turns back around. "I think...Starr and I are coming to some consensus...not much. I don't trust her. She has no morals," She says as she moves into the kitchen. "Do you want a drink? Something to eat?" The fridge is open and she is pulling out yet another can of coke. "Also I finally feel like I'm doing something -good- for my life. I went to that metaphysical occult shop in Sunnyvale..."

Shadowlite has posed:
"I don't get the sense she has no morals, but rather an indifference towards restraint on self-preservation. I haven't talked with her enough to confirm that either way." Shadowlite notes, before he watches Vicky go for the coke, "Well, someones addicted to soda." Shadowlite teases, before he tilts his head, "Occult shop? In Sunnyvale? I'll have to look that up. What's got you in a mood from there, then?"

Redstar has posed:
"It was something someone I met said. About possession. And then the weirdness with the church. So I went there looking for some books that might be helpful. Did you know magic was REAL?!" Vicky closes the fridge and pops the coke. She sticks her tongue out at him at the soda comment as she walks back over to him. "I...guess. It just makes me sick and uncomfortable. She doesn't care about life...especially 'inferior' life. She's said before that the strong will always rule," She says and then slides onto the ottoman, scooting it over to the recliner. "So anyway, yeah it's real. And so I did some research. But all the things that say you're possessed doesn't seem to work. They had holy water, supposedly, but it didn't burn me or anything..." She shrugs and sighs. "So...we are talking. You said you'd do something if we did..."

Shadowlite has posed:
"Oh, I've seen all sorts of things out there. Magic is just the tip of the iceberg." Shadowlite confirms without an ounce of awe, "Course, most of the time I was running from it since none of my contracts say I'm going to deal with the supers." He notes, before he brings up a hand to his chin, "Strong will always rule... let's go for a hypothetical; what if that superman guy decides one day to take control of the earth. What do you think will happen?" He seems to ignore the request for him to follow up on his offer... "Yeah yeah, we'll get to that."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky pops open the coke and takes a long drink as she considers the question with a slight frown. Behind her she shifts her wings, akin to someone jostling their foot. The movie suddenly roars with some epic scene and she leans over to grab the remote, pausing the movie. "That...well I don't know. People wouldn't like it." She finally says with a shrug of her shoulders. She HAS been sheltered and in an institution for a lot of her life.

Shadowlite has posed:
"One of two things will happen; either everyone on this planet will unite to take him down one way or another, or this planet will be subdued. For an alien like superman, I can almost guarantee you that you'd need to kill him to keep him from trying again, because the first time around will almost certainly have most anti-superman assets destroyed. There are only a few entities on this planet capable of going toe to toe with the big man." Shadowlite points out, "He's one of the strongest entities on the planet, and he imposes his own idea of justice every day. If he decides to fight for something else? You can bet your ass we'll have to go right along with him." Shadowlite then leans forward, "It's the reason the normals out there hate people like you and me; they recognize we're their superiors, and they want to tear us down."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky is quiet and leans forward as well, bracing her elbows on her knees as she sits across from him. She eyes her drink and turns it about in her hands. "I...I can't say you're wrong. I just...there has to be a way, I feel, for there to be peace without subjugation," She says. Yet it is ironic she says this, for she forces Starr down every day, subjugating her to Vicky's will. Teens don't always think how these things are actually them until it is pointed out. She looks up at that black mask and lets out a sigh. It is obvious that she tries to meet some sort of gaze, but it is impossible to tell and she drops her ice-blue peepers back to her hands.

Shadowlite has posed:
"Yet you don't extend that same thought process to Starr. You're currently the stronger in the relationship." Then, his hands go up, and the straps and zippers keeping the hood on his suit are undone, and a hand yanks the material off his head, revealing a neck length black haired man with violet, slightly glowing eyes and handsome irish features. The material of the hood stays slightly rigid... and Vicky can see little specks of blackness flake off of it to the floor, only to disappear as he places the mask into a pouch pocket on his belt, "it'd certainly be an interesting matchup; the world versus the Justice League. The hulk might have a chance against him." Shadowlites normal, suave baritone can be heard now. "Oh, and hi." Shadowlite gives a wave to Vicky.

Redstar has posed:
Vicky seems shocked at Shadowlite's calling her on her hypocrisy. Granted she hadn't even thought of it in those terms, but it still hits her like a slap to the face. Her mouth drops open slightly and she looks from hood to hands again. A frown furrows her brow and she puts a hand to her lips. When she looks back up there is a bit of horror in those eyes, "I...hadn't even though of it that way," She admits before he unzips the hood.
Those rather innocent and pale blue eyes go wide as he removes the hood. Her eyes trail after a flake of blackness before snapping back to his face. She finds herself staring, especially at his eyes. When her waves she blushes and smiles a bit embarassed. "Hi...I...wow," She stammers. "You're...I...you're very handsome. I don't knoe what I was expecting honestly. I've never seen someone with eyes that color..."

Shadowlite has posed:
"They turned violet the day my abilities came to me. They tend to glow with the energy of pulling the stuff across the barrier after I use it for a while. Usually takes an hour for them to return to normal. I used to have grey eyes." Shadowlite points out. "I've got no idea why-" Then, Shadowlite takes on a grimace, before he sighs, "I didn't ask for your opinion, asshole." Shadowlite gives in a resigned voice. He's looking right at Vicky, but she gets the distinct impression he's talking to someone else. "Sorry, Got a passenger in my head sometimes that gives me bad advice after I use the stuff."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky tilts her head slightly and looks at her rescuer in a suddenly new light. "You...you do?" She asks and a very slight smile crosses her face. "So...you know then. What it's like...what did it say?" She asks curiously, scooting a little closer on the edge of the ottoman. She reaches out to put a hand on his. "You didn't say...it...Maybe Starr is like your passenger then," There is some hope in her voice, squeezing his hand to show her excitement. Plus she is still hungry for human contact. Vicky doesn't go out unless she has something important to follow up on about her predicaments.

Shadowlite has posed:
"I call him Lostie. Far as I can tell, he's some form of creature trapped in the dimension I get my stuff from. I can hear him when I grab stuff from over the barrier. Once my connection over there fades, he fades." Shadowlite shakes his head, "I'm pretty sure you have an actual personality in there, because he can't take control of me." Shadowlite continues, before he looks down to the hand on his gloved one, then those violet eyes look back to her own, "I can't get inside your head, so I can only help you from the outside, sorry."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky doesn't really look all that upset finding out it isn't quite what she had thought. "Oh...well, that's better anyway. It used to be all I heard was her talking," She says with a sigh. For a second she eyes her hand on his and then draws it slowly away with one of her shy smiles and slight blush to her cheeks. "So what was he saying then? You don't have to tell me...I know I wouldn't repeat some of the stuff Starr says." Her eyes go a little wide for emphasis.

Unheard by Shadowlite, of course, Starr laughs in Vicky's mind. ~Want to see the beach scene again?~ The comment makes Vicky's smile suddenly fade and she presses her hands over both eyes. "Ohhhh god no. No no no." She murmers to herself, though really it's Starr.

Shadowlite has posed:
"Sounds like a story there." Shadowlite points out, "Lostie has an opinion on why my eyes turned violet when I gained my ability to turn the Darkforce dimension into my personal armory. It isn't worth repeating." The glows of his eyes flashes then, with a hint of black misty flowing out of them like an aura, and he reaches out then with his left hand, and a portal aperture opens a few meters away... as usual, total blackness, "I didn't learn how to create these for weeks after my... awakening." Shadowlite observes as he nods to the portal. "Keeping them open for a long term takes a lot of concentration, but I can open them over and over in a row. I can effectively go across the planet in half a day, if I pace myself."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky's cheeks are very red and she says quietly, "Not one I want to tell." It makes her uncomfortable whatever it is. Her eyes refocus and trail to the portal and she watches it thoughtfully. "They did a lot of testing of my limits at the facility...So I have an idea of what I can do...and it scares me," Vicky says honestly as she herself touches the glass-top coffee table and frost races across it as she focuses the cold at the point of her finger. "Cold is deadly. It can kill faster than heat can and I have no way to reverse making things cold so if I use it..." She just trails off and shakes her head with a hefty sigh. ~Baby.~ Is Starr's silent comment.

Shadowlite has posed:
"Then I suggest you do what I did." Shadowlite brings his hand down over the black suit, "find ways to maximize your strengths and keep your weaknesses very hidden." With that, Shadowlite reaches forward and grabs Vickies hand with his right one, "These are some of your greatest tools, but so are your abilities. And for what it's worth-" Shadowlite gives a suave smirk, "I don't think you're crazy, just... very new to the world. I'm willing to teach you, if you like... but you have to be willing to listen. You have 'sheltered most of my life' written all over you... and being protected like that doesn't do you any favors for what the real world has for you."

Redstar has posed:
There is a look of surprise as he takes her hands, but she doesn't resist or look away from his gaze as he speaks. "I...yeah. You're right," She admits as gives his hand a little squeeze in return. "I'm willing to learn, but I also have to find out what...why Starr and I are like this. The other people I've met who have other voices...it's not the same. Nothing like, " She frees one hand to gesture at herself, "This! Why?" She is momentarily worked up by this and her breathing has quickened in response. "I need to learn to live in this world," She agrees with a nod. "And for once...Starr agrees with me. Teach me. I don't want to be...be...so fucking innocent!" This last seems to irritate her most as she smacks a fist against one thigh.

Shadowlite has posed:
"First thing you need to learn is that nothing in life is free. There are people out there who are willing to give you resources, or help... but they themselves received those resources from somewhere else." Shadowlite points out, before he nods to the balcony; Stark Tower very visible in the distance, "People like Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne received their fortune from the hard work of their ancestors, but it *started* somewhere. It didn't come to them for free." He looks back to Vicky, "Lex Luthor is the best example of taking the tools given to you, and making something of them."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky glances out the tower as he mentions it and then back, nodding her head slowly. "All right...I have some bad news though. I...I only know those are big names. I don't know why. Three years in a blacked-out institution and then being a young teen undergoing extreme psychiatric drug therapy...I can text, but I don't speak emoji if you know what I mean?" She almost looks embarassed to say this.

Shadowlite has posed:
Then, Shadowlite stands up, his glowing eyes flashing again as he closes the portal, and he heads over to the balcony... giving a great view of his toned ass. The suit is definitely form fitting to a point. Then, he points to Stark Tower. "Tony Stark, Engineer sort who inherited a fortune from Howard Stark and ancestors." With the wind blowing at his face now, his black hair becomes slightly windswep-wait, is his hair darker now? Vicky could *swear* his hair went from a dark brown, to pitch black as he walked. "Bruce Wayne is another inheritor. Spends most of his time in his Manor with bimbos, last I heard, when he's not running his company." There's no judgment there for any of them, "Lex Luthor, on the other hand, is the CEO of LexCorp. He built his company from literally nothing in the last decade or two." Then, Shadowlite looks back to Vicky, and he has a warm smile that reaches his eyes... the glow in them amplified from the dark of the night, "Those are some of the more well known millionaires and billionaires with giant corporate empires."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky Stands a moment after he does and follows slowly to the balcony window. She stands slightly behind and close, her shoulder almost brushing his from behind. The blinking lights of Stark tower keeps her eyes for a moment, then her eyes are drawn to Shadowlite's face. She turns to watch him thoughtfully as she listens, her eyes slowly moving to the darkened hair. One brow raises curiously for a moment but she doesn't comment on it. She's seen a lot in the last few weeks.

Shadowlite has posed:
"I don't ever expect to get to that point; too much work just to have that sort of fortune. There comes a time when you get money... just to get money, you know?" Shadowlite gives a shrug, "A person can live pretty comfy on a million if they know what they're doing and aren't idiots who spend it all in one place." Shadowlite points out, before he goes back into the apartment proper, and lays down on the bed... or rather, plops down on the bed with a bounce. "My personal dream is to get enough cash to retire to some tropical island with a girl or two with me. Spend the rest of my days with a nice satellite connection with a small mansion and plenty of bedroom antics."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky finds herself chuckling at the talk of work to make millions. "My parents were very well off...Not Luther big, but..." She trails off as she follows him and he continues. "My parents were life that. They didn't flaunt wealth or anything, but I certainly never wanted and always had the best of everything," He was right about being sheltered and she doesn't hide it. As he enters the bedroom and flops on the bed she pauses in the doorway and leans on the frame, wrapping her arms around herself slightly. His comments make her smile, but it is the kind of smile of someone who doesn't want to be seen smiling about such things. "That's..." She doesn't seem to have any idea what to say to that and just shakes her head before she meets his eyes. "I just want to find balance and be happy. But I don't know what those will be...hey, you said you can get around the world right? That means you've been to, like, Hawaii and the Bahamas?" There is some sort of light in her eyes. "We never went anywhere fun like that. Europe for museum tours and then hiding me away when things got bad."

Shadowlite has posed:
"I've gone all over the planet. After a while, it all blends together, really." Shadowlite shrugs, then, "Went to Genosha once, even. Still debating if I'm going to stick around there or not."

Redstar has posed:
Vicky is quiet for a few seconds and then asks, "Would you take me? I mean...not now. You're obviously tired and stuff." She has taken a few steps into the bedroom now, hands trailing at her sides. But something makes her stop a step away from Shadowlite. "Hey...do you want something to eat? I'm a decent cook," She asks as she turns to point back at the kitchen down the hall.

Shadowlite has posed:
"I'd prefer to sleep more than anything right now. If you want to go get some food for yourself though, feel free. I did just stock the place." Shadowlite points out.

Redstar has posed:
Vicky turns back and nods then realizes she had left the bed a bit of a mess. "Oh crap!" She says and smiles apologetically to him. "I'm sorry. I didn't make the bed. Mom would yell at me if she knew I left my...your...the bed unmade," The stumbling over her words makes her blush again even as she moves past to smooth the comforter. She doesn't bother making it, but she does straighten out the comforter and folds down the blanket.

Shadowlite has posed:
"And yet you ran away from them." Shadowlite states matter of factly, "Old habits die hard." Shadowlites gives in an amused voice, before he turns over onto his side, "I think I head to sleep now. Care to join me, or would you prefer I head back home?"

Redstar has posed:
Vicky pauses as she finishes folding down the covers and finds herself staring at the covers for a heartbeat. Then she slowly turns to meet Shadowlite's eyes. Sure she is blushing again, but she hasn't run away nor does she look offended. "No...stay," She says with a little smile. "Umm...you do realize that you were really on the nose with being sheltered..." She trails off, dropping her gaze, and bites her lower lip in that cute way she does.
