Believe In Yourself a Little
Date of Scene: 01 February 2018
Location: Crew Habitat - Legion Cruiser
Synopsis: Kara gives Lar a little pep talk and helps him practice not breaking things.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Supergirl

Mon-El has posed:
Lar is hanging around the cruiser at the moment, appearing to do something rather strange. He's standing in front of one of the end tables in the crew habitat lounge, -very- slowly pulling a piece of tissue paper out of one of those boxes with plastic slit tops. On the sofa and all over the floor are many piles of ripped-up tissues. It's really quite a mess, though if Kara walked, it might not seem as strange to her.

Supergirl has posed:
Kara's had a busy day stopping all sorts of crime and visiting her cousin. The Girl of Steel is in a great mood. She flies by the outside of the cruiser, enroute to the Watchtower the hard way. Seeing Lar, she flies closer to a window and knocks.

Mon-El has posed:
The knock startles Lar a bit, and he jerks on the tissue, abruptely ripping it to shreds. Sigh. Great. But, his eyes light up when he sees that it's Kara, and he goes over to the airlock, pushing a button to allow it to open with a low hiss. "Kara, hey. I was just uhm...practicing that 'kleenex' thing you mentioned before. It really is hard."

Supergirl has posed:
"It is!" Kara says brightly once she's inside and takes a deep breath. "Umm, hi. I was in the neighborhood...so to speak." She looks towards the window and back to Lar. "And spoke to Kal."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar chuckles. "Yeah, it's a really nice neighborhood, isn't it? Extremely quiet, right?" Literally completely silent. "Though, not so nice for folks who need atmosphere and heat and stuff like that."

Then he watches her expectantly when she mentions Kal. "Yeah? What'd he say?"

Supergirl has posed:
"Well, air." Kara shrugs and scuffs a toe. "He wants to make sure our tech won't do more harm than good first-since we aren't exactly genetically the same." She walks closer to Lar. "But he did suggest taking it to the League and I remembered J'onn might be just the guy to help. He's a Martian, his people are natural telepaths and he's League so we can trust him."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar sighs, and his face falls a bit at Kara's answer. "Yeah, I know we're not the same, but we're similar enough, right? Come on, doesn't he understand that I need to fix this, and I need to fix it -now-! How do I even know if this Martian guy will even -want- to help me? Or what if he's not available right now? I just--" he runs a hand through his hair. "Look, I can't just -wait- around for this, all right? If something happened to someone else, like what happened to Drake...I'd never forgive myself. Heck, I -still- haven't forgiven myself for -that-."

Supergirl has posed:
"Ok, well, let's work on narrowing down causes." Kara says and looks up at Lar. "You remember being on Daxom, and then being in the future like you were never on Earth as Mon-El at all, right?" She asks and wrings her hands. "We're going to figure it out Lar, ok? Be strong a little longer? I'm here, we can hold it down together."

Mon-El has posed:
"No, I don't even remember getting that name at all. If I gave it to myself, or if someone else called me that and it stuck, or what. I just remember waking up here a few months ago, and not knowing anything. How I got to this planet, or even that I was part of some team from the future called the Legion." Lar shakes his head. "I mean, did Kal get in contact with this J'onn guy? Or did he just kind of say something along the lines of 'yeah I'll get in touch with him when I can', sort of deal?"

Supergirl has posed:
"He wanted to reach out to the Justice League as a whole. I'm the one thinking we go straight to J'onn. He's always looked out for me when Kal gets distant. J'onn's like familiy." Kara tells Lar and goes to sit, watching him. "You didn't remember your team either huh? Hmmm. Has to be alien tech...I wonder if it's just sealed off or wiped out entirely..." She thinks aloud and taps her lip thoughtfully.

Mon-El has posed:
"Well, I do know that not long after I woke up here, that sorceress Glorith, the one who tried to take Drake hostage, kept trying to kidnap me. And there are times when...when I seem to know things that I don't remember. I know that doesn't make any sense, but like...you know when we first met, that day in New York? You talked to me in Kryptonian, and Interlac, and I responded in kind. Even though I don't remember ever learning those languages. And then, every time I see an image of Superman, I feel like I know him, but don't remember ever meeting him." Lar notes. He sits down as well, stationing himself across from her. Another sigh escapes him. This...this wasn't helping any, was it?

"Listen Kara, I know you're worried about me, and I know you don't like the government, but they actually -already- want to see me. I don't even know if this J'onn person will even -want- to help. If Kal doesn't want to risk using the Fortress, then what other options are out there and immediately available to me? I'm tired of running around chasing dead ends."

Supergirl has posed:
"Then your memories are in there. Lar...what if the best answer you get-from anyone is time? What if there is no "fix" for you?" Kara asks and rises, coming over to sit by him and place her hand on his arm lightly. "Maybe we need to fight this Glorith again, see if it jumpstarts anything."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar stares at Kara, eyes wide with horror when she brings up the possibility that there simply may not be a fix at all. He hadn't thought about it before, but now he has, thanks to her. That was probably about worst thing she could possibly have said at this very moment. "N-no...no there -has- to be a way, you said it yourself just now, they are there, just--ugh! -Time- is the thing that I -don't- have! The longer I wait, the more I get people hurt and killed! That's why Drake needs tech from the -future- just to keep him from melting now! That's what I've been trying to say this entire time, don't you -get- it?" he says, his tone distraught. "That's it, if I don't get this Martian in my face offering to help me in the next few days, I'm going to find SHIELD, whoever they are, and turn myself in to -them-!"

Supergirl has posed:
"Lar." Kara furrows her brows. She places a hand on his cheek lightly. "Please be more careful. Those risks your afraid of-even with your memories-they would still happen. It's like you think if you recall what you can't you'll suddenly be this good, perfect hero. But you'll still have to re-learn your control over your powers. That man is still here-now. Maybe you don't remember how much good you've done, but that shouldn't change the good you do now." Kara places a hand on his heart, looking into his eyes. "I'm not...your memory isn't who I'm interested in-who I believe in. You are. Believe in yourself a little. It'll come back. I know it will."

Mon-El has posed:
"Of course there would still be risks, but maybe if I could remember my own life and therefore training I've apparently -already had-, then I could control myself better and have better judgment and not do -stupid- things that--" Lar starts to say, but stops when Kara hand goes to his face, and then to his chest. He gazes into her eyes as she gazes into his, then takes her hand and squeezes gently.

    "..."

    Grife, she's just so -irresistible-.

Somehow, in some way, she manages to say stuff like that and -not- sound all cliche. He shakes his head finally, letting go of her hand with a slight chuckle. "Grife, I don't know how you do it."

Supergirl has posed:
"Do what?" Kara asks, searching his eyes with a smile. She tangles her fingers in his. "Look, I know it's scary and frustrating, but, you can train with me, and I'll do everything I can to help-" She looks to the tissue box and gets up. Bringing it back she sets it on her knees and takes one of his hands. "Here. Touch my hair soft-like when you pushed it out of my face that once, then try to pull a tissue just the same." Those famously bright eyes focused on him alone.

Mon-El has posed:
"I dunno, talk like you did just now without sounding like some kind of pre-programmed 'inspiring quotes' machine?" Lar answers with a grin. Then she brings the tissue box back out and he rolls his eyes a bit. "Oh -no-, back to the delicate sheets of plant product are we?"

He arches a brow at her instructions. "Wait, why are we comparing a part of -your- body to this paper? You're as strong as I am, maybe even stronger." Though he does sweep her hair back with a laugh. "Not that I'm complaining." Then back to the tissues. Nope! They just disintegrate as they are pulled out of the box. "How in the galaxy are these things even -useful-?!" he laughs again. "Like seriously what do humans use them for? Carrying -hair-? Cleaning up a few specks of dust?"

Supergirl has posed:
"They use them to wipe away tears, blow runny noses, ummm, soak up other spill and liquids. Stuff like that." Kara shrugs and reaches up to brush her fingers against his hair. "Like this. Feel how soft?" She touches his cheek with the same whisper of a touch and then pulls a tissue free with an encouraging smile. "You can do it."

Mon-El has posed:
"Hmm, yeah I guess that makes sense. They do appear to be very absorbent." Lar observes as he examines a piece of the torn up sheet of kleenex. He sighs in a halfway contented and halfway frustrated sort of way when she gives him an example of soft and gentle. "Okay, yeah I -know-, that's what I've been trying to aim for. But I just can't seem to...hold back enough, or whatever." he shrugs and tries again with the tissue box, although this time the sheet does get a little farther out before it tears. "Well--that's progress, right?" he laughs.

Supergirl has posed:
"Mhmm." Kara nods. "But you felt what I meant?" She places his hand on her cheek. Her fingers over his are feather soft. "Very soft, hardly have to feel that there's contact. Maybe we should have started with paper towels but this is good practice for outside of combat training and the like. Except for the mess in here. I should help you clean up before someone sees it and wonders if we had a tissue fight or something."

Mon-El has posed:
"Paper towels? Isn't that...I mean isn't that what these are, basically?" Lar asks, brows going up. Clearly, they're something different, but it just sounds like the same thing. "You said humans use them for cleaning up liquids." He caresses her cheek a little as she holds his hand to her face.

He scoffs slightly at the comment about the mess, then sighs. "Oh, trust me, I'd rather make this kind of mess than some of the -other- messes I've made..."

Supergirl has posed:
"I bet. I went through so many glasses the first couple months. Clothes?" Kara shakes her head. "Oh my goodness. I looked like a barbarian she-woman for a while. I still rip things or pull off buttons once in a while." She admits and looks about. "Umm..." But cheek caresses, so she tries not to move too much. "They're thicker. These can only hold so much liquid, paper towels you can scrub with and clean things."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar chuckles, picturing what Kara is describing as he finally withdraws his hand from her face. "Yeah, the reason Drake's window doesn't open any more because I broke it the first time I came to visit him at his apartment." Then he sighs. "Though that certainly wasn't the worst one. I'm sure you heard about the museum incident. You know the one where I tried to steal kryptonite."

Supergirl has posed:
"Steal Kryptonite? Rao! Why would you do that?" Kara asks with surprise and sits back a little. She tucks her hair behind her ears and blinks at him. "I mean, obviously it was a good reason, that stuff is...it's poison."

Mon-El has posed:
"You didn't hear about that?" Lar looks surprised at this fact. "I--because, I need it to survive. All Daxamites are deathly allergic to lead, which, as you know is practically everywhere on Earth. I have to take Brainiac's serum every like, few weeks otherwise I'll die. I think...Glorith messed with the dose I had in my system at the time, made it not last as long as it's supposed to. So when I saw that we didn't have any more kryptonite in stock I kind of panicked." he explains with a sigh. "I--should have asked for help first, instead of taking things into my own hands. Which, again, maybe if I had all my prior experience and training up here," he says, pointing to his own head. "I wouldn't have acted so rashly."

Supergirl has posed:
"I get the feeling you've always been a bit rash." Kara says and shakes her head. "You have kryptonite in you?" She asks and touches him. "Why don't you make me sick?" She blinks and adds quickly "Not like repulsed, you're perfect-I mean-umm, Kryptonite can kill me if there's enough of it and I'm around it a long time. I'm super allergic." She explains and looks him over with her super sight.

Mon-El has posed:
"I know--" Lar pauses, looking pensive. "Huh. You know that is a good question. Maybe because it's such a small amount? I...don't know -that- much about the formulation itself, though I do know it's only a tiny bit. Brainiac could probably tell you the real reason."

He laughs at the perfect comment. "-No-..." he says with a grin. "Kara I am far from perfect, if anyone is perfect, it's -you-."

Supergirl has posed:
"Mmmn. You haven't seen me in the morning or you'd know better." Kara counters and shakes her head. She laces her fingers in with his. "You know...if you're going to be interested in a girl, it doesn't hurt to let her say some nice things about you once in a while." She points out and toys with his fingers idly, inspecting his hands.

Mon-El has posed:
"Psh, let's be honest I probably wouldn't even notice the difference. Because you're just always beautiful to me, Kara." Lar laughs and shakes his head as she toys with his hands. "Ummm, nice? Well I dunno about you but I think 'perfect' kinda goes a little bit further than that?" He shrugs, and stands up, letting go of her hand. "Well, I think I'm going to go read some more logs...yeah I know, still haven't gotten through everything even with the super speed and all. Maybe hit up the simulator a little bit, too. See if that's at least a little less frustrating than uh, kleenex."

And maybe...find out how he would go about contacting the Strategic Homeland Intervention Espionage and Logistics Division. Buuuut... he doesn't mention that part to her.

Supergirl has posed:
"Oh. Umm, yeah. I should get home anyway, I guess." Kara stands and smooths out her skirt. "So uhh, I'll see you later?" She asks and looks up at him with a small smile. "I mean like, tomorrow or after that maybe." She clarifies, talking with her hands as she gestures and backs towards the door out. "So umm, night. I guess." She tells him and backs into the door frame with a jump and fumbles her way out the door still grinning at him.

Mon-El has posed:
"Yeah, tomorrow. For sure." Lar nods, smiling somewhat dreamily at her as she fumbles her way out. "Good night." Then he retires to his quarters in the crew habitat.
