Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
It wasn't that long ago that they had been in this same base in Siberia. The only difference was there were personnel from SHIELD present and the power was up to full. That meant there was heat instead of feeling like they were inside an icebox. Once inside, Natasha quickly removed her heavy parke and the rest of her winter gear, leaving it hanging in the anteroom setup for that purpose. This leaves her in the usual black bodysuit with her holstered Glocks strapped to the outside of her thighs. She wanders into the main computer area, leading the way.
Inside, the damaged cryo chambers are gone. They were removed almost immediately and sent off to a lab somewhere. The main computers are all still in place, the actual mainframes filling a few other rooms in the facility. Theere is a terminal to access them here. The techs in lab coats move out of the way to allow the two Avengers access, having been told of their arrival using old school radios instead of the new useless digital.
Times like this, it was good that they had both functioned using technology long before the age of everything being interlinked through computers.

Captain America has posed:
Cap is glad to go with you. However, he seems to be a little more cautious. 6de3f892c924d15c-captainamerica2532742cee4f7a.jpg He's got his shield on, and his eyes are scanning about as he looks things over. Having turned on the power last time, they may have activated who else knows what as well. Or, other forces, including Hydra, could have pinged the activation of the installation. As such, he is a bit more careful, taking the lead and keeping an eye out as they explore the area.

"You realize that we have no idea what else is going to activate when we turn these computers back on. I'm happy we have the techs but do they have to be down here when these go on? I love our science types and I would like them to be of use to us again next week too." He seems a little more antsy than normal Cap.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"You're starting to think like me. I'm think that's bad. You should be the hopeful one who believes things are going to go well," Natasha points out with a smirk as she settles into a standing position in front of the main computer. She glances over her shoulder at Steve. Noticing his body language, she turns to face him and her smile fades. "I don't think there is going to be a problem. I'd be surprised if they even work at all. Likely I'll push that power button and we'll just be sitting here staring at that blank screen."
She turns back to the computer and bends slightly at the waist so she can reach the keyboard. Her fingers rest lightly on the keys then she glances over at him again. "All agents, clear the room. Be prepared at the entrances just in case." Just because she thinks it will be okay doesn't mean she's going to ignore sage advice. Once they have all left, she looks to Cap, gives a nod, then pushes that power button.

Captain America has posed:
"More just past experience," he says, looking back. "They turned things off. They would have wanted them turned on a certain way. When they're not turned on that way, unless we're particularly lucky or you're particularly fast in over-riding the decades old tech...then something could happen. I mean nothing major...usually just poison gas or some sort of explosive but Hydra has been creative. And if they were super creative, who knows what's down here. I watched this old movie called Lord or the Rings - what if Hydra has a cave troll? Not likely but I prefer to stay uneaten..."

As you look back at him he grins, giving a little shrug. "What...you guys told me to catch up. It's taking me a while. There's a lot of garbage in tv's and movies I'm having to work through."

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"I don't think Lord of the Rings was the right sort of thing to watch for Hydra base infiltration training," Natasha says as she pushes that button and nothing happens. She frowns slightly and pushes the chair out of the way, dropping down to open a panel on the front of the console. Inside are a few wires and components. She starts tracking them, checking each to be sure they are intact. The main rooms had already been inspected and this should have been too.
No poisonous gas sprays from the vents. No explosions have gone off. Thus far it is all quiet.
Her voice drifts back from under the desk. "So, which would be worse? The troll from Harry Potter or from Lord of the Rings?" she ponders as she finds a wire that has come loose. She quickly replaces it and returns to standing in front of the computer for attempt number two.

Captain America has posed:
"I don't think it had anything to do with training," he points out. "Though I totally would have rocked in that environment simply because of my superior shield skills. Still...." he watches Nat and as she pushes the button and nothing happens, he purses his lips curiously. "I'm not sure that did what you think it's supposed to," he says with a smile as he walks over and looks at what she pushed. "You did this one right?" He pretends like he's going to push it but then stops and gets out of the way as she goes back to working on the systems. He walks around the room, giving a glance at anything that looks like there may have been a door or some thing hidden - especially like scrape marks on the floor or ceiling where something may have been moved one way or another.

"What's a hairy potter?" Yup...apparently that got filed under 'kids and young adult' so he hasn't seen it yet.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"It was all the craze about 20 years ago. You didn't really miss anything. It was a little too predictable," Natasha explains as she looks at the non functioning screen. "Dammit. What am I missing?" She is gone again back under the console, digging around inside as she begins to mutter. In Russian. That's never a good sign.

As Cap continues his exploration of the room, he will find nothing at first. Until he makes it over to an area where the cryo chambers had been. There are still hoses and wires that had connected to the pods in place. Just below them there are a few scratch marks on the floor. Just a scuff or two. They are in an arch, indicating what might be a door. If he continues to move, there is another on the opposite side in the exact spot. Symmetry.
Natasha comes up from below the console again. "You would've made a good Aragorn. Except the lack of a stubble update. I don't think I've ever seen you not clean shaven. Hmm, I wonder who would win in a contest, Clint or Legolas?"

Captain America has posed:
"Stop that," he says jokingly as she starts cursing in Russian. "You never know when you're going to say some secret code phrase that's going to turn this place into a nuclear bomb. They wouldn't have done that in English you know," he says, as if saying specifically random things in Russian could just lead to stuff being blown up.

Still, his fingers move to the wall as he follows the two arcs, seeing that they seem to form some opening double doors and he tries to focus on the wall, on where they would meet, and he looks for any seam he can get his hands into for pulling open, or any way he can grab onto something and use it to pull the doors open. Because nothing says good judgement like opening the random doors to no where without telling anyone first. "Clint...because he's real..." he says, with a little strain in his voice.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
That earns a laugh from Natasha. "Of course it wouldn't have been in Russian," she argues from her spot under the console, unaware of his explorations. "It was a Hydra base in Siberia. Of course they were cursing all the time. I can't imagine someone living in Siberia not cursing in Russian all the time." She finds what she was looking for and begins to fix the problem. "I'd be more worried if I said them in English. And of course Clint is real. I'm saying if Legolas was real."

There is the tiniest of seams that might be seen in the shadows. When Steve puts his back into it, he will be able to force them open.
Only, he won't have to. As Natasha gets that connection fixed under the console, the pair of doors begin to open and inside is a large gatling style gun which folds down out of the closed space to align with the spot where Natasha will be appearing in a moment. The barrels begin to move in a circular pattern, warming up to start firing as it aims where the chair would be at the computer.

Captain America has posed:
"Well, it's a ludicrous comparison nonetheless. How do you compare a fictional character to a real person? It just can't be done," he says, in a moment that would probably have Deadpool doing a repeated double take back and forth in between Cap and the 4th wall. And so he thinks about it before pondering, "Still Clint though probably, if for no other reason that he has better..." and there's a pause as the door opens and Steve looks in, seeing the Gatling gun and he brings up his shield. "Toys."

That is of course right before the sound of bullets hitting the shield while Steve braces himself, leaning forward into the soon to be -barrage- of gunfire, the metallic 'ping' of bullets flattening against the shield and dropping or ricocheting up and off into random directions heard as he looks back over to Natasha. "What say you start doing some of that computer stuff and turn this thing off....and make sure nothing else is about to get turned on?" Another chance for Deadpool to make a 'turned on' comment...if only he was here.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
At the sound of gunfire hitting a shield, Natasha pops up from underneath the console just enough to peek and see Cap facing off with a gattling gun. The bullets ricochet off the shield and slam in the walls instead. "Uhm..yeah," She disappears back underneath the desk as she scrambles. She finds what she had just reattached.
The bullet continue to ping for a moment more off the shield then abruptly the gun stops firing, the spinning barrels slowing to a stop as smoke rises from the ends. The monster is silent.
She peeks up over the top again and gives a small smile. "Oops."

Captain America has posed:
There's a lot of force from one of those rotating barrels and he can be seen having to take the occasional step back or two before he's able to fight forward, only to lose that step or two again then fight back forward as he keeps the spray fairly well contained. The shield looks none the worse for wear, but he is definitely having to step around those shells, or over them, or kick them out of the way as they're hot, and resting his boots on top of them, which are not made of vibranium, causees him a very uncomfortable case of hot foot.

When the shooting stops he moves his head around the shield briefly to look and see if anything else is coming, before he turns back to Nat. "Really....oops?" He smirks and just shakes his head before walking over to the gatling gun and using his not inconsiderable strength to pull it down from whatever it is mounted to. The less likely it is to shoot at him again, the more likely he is to be a happy Cap.

Black Widow (Romanoff) has posed:
"Be ready. Y'know, just in case." Natasha disappears from view again, leaving him to wonder if some other death trap is going to be sprung. Instead, there is a soft whirring sound and then the screen that had been blank comes to life with a faint green glow. No Windows or anything so modern. This is the most basic of systems from the earliest days of such technology. It isn't connected to anything resembling the internet since that didn't exist in the 40s when this place was built.
"Got it." As if he couldn't tell that. Natasha bends slightly, tapping a few keys on and watching the information rolling across the screen. "Jackpot. We have satellites that this thing is pinging which had been left as defunct. We may be able to set up some sort of work around here." She flicks her gaze up to Steve and smiles. "If we can avoid another troll."

Captain America has posed:
"Nothing but confidence, Nat. You are a master motivator," he says with a chuckle as she says such and he makes his way over to the computer. See, these he understands. At least a little. He does watch you work for a momment, looking over as you get into your work and he nods. "Satellites? Do I even want to know how many they had back then? Probably not. The whole space race...by the time we knew about it I think both countries were already well into their exploration and planting the seeds of where they were going to focus." There's that bit of tone from him, that part that is telltale Steve when he thinks that the government is keeping secrets from him.

"Well this is good. We can get back to the reservation and send smoke signals or pony express messenger to those who need to know and let them start using them...assuming they work..." but still, he pats Natasha's shoulder with that good-job vibe. "Who gets to tell the techs that now that this is on, they and the guards have to stay and keep it running until we get the rest of the technology back online?"
