Cast of Characters: Lex Luthor, Glacier

Lex Luthor has posed:
LexCorp has assets, buildings, and employees all across the planet, with subsidiaries just as spread out. Today, Lex Luthor has business with a hospital sponsored by LexCorp, in the Breakstone region.

The armored Limo is the first sign of the visit, with hospital staff already waiting to greet the Man of Tomorrow.

Once up to the entrance, the engine on the black limo goes idle, and a caucasian blonde woman steps out of the drivers seat, opening a door in the back. Out of that door steps another woman, this one with a darker tone, and black hair. They both survey the area briefly, before the blonde looks inside the door and gives a nod.
His few second later, and Lex Luthor leave the Limo, and gives a nod to the two, "Mercy, Hope. Same as usual." The two women go behind their employer as Lex starts to walk over to the hospital staff, giving smiles and warm handshakes, "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice. I know you've been busy with the backbone down for so long."

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell begins walking down the street, slightly hunched over, cradling one hand in the other. The hand she's favoring seems to be frozen in a large, roughly circular chunk of ice, as well, which may be the source of her discomfort. However, the woman is worryingly thin, deathly pale, and wearing some kind of strange, form-fitting jumpsuit (that does her skinny frame no favors). With Xavier's School nearby, odds are, she's a mutant.

The woman doesn't spot the limo and small crowd of bigwigs and guards until she's just a dozen yards off, at which point, she pauses and looks up wordlessly.

Lex Luthor has posed:
The young woman walking over gets the attention of Lex with a side glance. Then, he's looking to the hospital administration, "I'll see you inside, but you might want to get a doctor who can deal with hypothermia out here, maybe." lex gives with a side head gesture to Maya.

Then, Lex looks in her direction. "Are you alright, young lady?" Lex asks with a concerned tone. "I don't wish to presume, as we're near that school for people with abilities."

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell stammers for a moment. "Wh-...N-No, I, uh...I-It's--" She pauses for a moment and clears her throat, before finding her voice. "I-I hurt myself, and just...I froze it s-so I wouldn't...um, bleed." She turns her hand around to show the group. There's a series of small wounds across the back of her hand, as if hit with some kind of shrapnel. Without the ice, it'd definitely be trailing blood behind her. And even though it's slowly beginning to warm up, the woman's breath still seems to come out in frigid gasps. Her gaze trains on Lex. "Y-...You're, uh...Lex Luthor," she states plainly.

Lex Luthor has posed:
"It sounds like this young lady needs medical attention." Lex Luthor gives, just loudly enough for the staff to ear, "Please, consider her medical bills paid by me. That looks painful." Lex walks over then, to Maya. "I'm Lex Luthor, CEO of LexCorp." He offers his hand for the non-encased one, "Some call me the Man of Tomorrow. It's a pleasure to meet you. May I know you name?"

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell blinks up to Lex for a few moments (though the woman's still definitely tall in her own right) and shakily offers her hand to Lex's. Thankfully, her right one is the one that's fine. "Uh, M-...Maya. Sir. I'm sorry, I-I didn't mean to, uh, interrupt. Why are you...paying for th-I mean, i-it's nothing too big, just...messing around with ice..."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"Because I like to help and improve peoples lives, Maya.... and paying for your medical bill for such a small thing seems like a good use of my money." Lex offers, before he shakes her hand.

Then, a doctor is outside, heading for Maya, "Young woman, let me take a look at that." A man in his fourties, looks like, comes out and kneels, offering to look it over.

"If you'd prefer I not, I would very much insist on it. But, it is your choice, after all." Lex Luthor gives her a warm smile. The charisma oozes off the man, especially in situations like this.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell looks over to the doctor and offers him her ice-encased hand to look over, before turning to Lex. "Oh, no! It's--I-It's fine, I just...uhm...it was just unexpected, thank you!" She turns toward the doctor, then, "I...I was practicing with my...erm, powers--I-I'm a mutant, uh, frost powers--and...I tried flinging, like...frost shards with my hand, but...i-it kind of hit the back of my hand, and I don't think they'll...uh, melt. Because I'm...cold."

Lex Luthor has posed:
The doctor looks over Mayas' hand, 'I'll have to be able to touch it if you want anything done with it, Miss. You'll probably at least need stitches."

Lex looks on, before he looks to the hospital entrance, and nod to it. "Perhaps we should take this inside, then?" Lex looks to Maya, asking the question.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell looks over to the doctor, then to Lex, then back to the doctor. "Uh, right, I c-...I can't, ah, melt ice, but...I mean, we can...run it over some hot water?" She winces. "J-Just make sure it doesn't...ah, touch my skin. I burn easily." She purses her lips for a moment, then prepares to follow the doctor.

Lex Luthor has posed:
The man leads Maya into the hospital, if she allows it. Lex follows soon after.

They're taken in the direction of intake, "I'm paying for this out of pocket. I don't think she needs an intake, Sir." The Doctor looks like he's about to argue, but they are instead taken to a patient room. "I'll be right back, We have a machine for handling hypothermia patients." And the Doctor leaves.

Then, Lex sits in a chair, looking to Maya, "Your ability is ice control, then?" He inquires.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell quickly calls after the doctor. "W-Wait, wait, no, it's not--!" But the doctor's already gone. She sighs and sheepishly turns her gaze back to Lex. "Uh, y-...yeah. I mean, kind of. I can control water, but...uh, not without freezing it. And once it's cold, I...kind of lose my grip on it." She lowers her gaze to her lap. "I've been trying to learn to...a-actuallly control ice. It's hard to describe."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"I believe he means melting off the ice, not that you're actually hypothermic." Lex smiles to Maya. "You don't present symptoms of hypothermia, but people encased in ice? There are machine for that."

Then, Lex steeples his fingers, "Interesting... so you take all the heat out of something, and you can control it with your mental processes after?" Lex continues to inquire.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell blinks a few times, then drops her gaze shyly again. "Oh. A-And, uh, no, it's...I can control -water-, but as I...control it--yeah, I guess I...just kinda take the heat out of it. But once it's actually...-ice-, I...start to, er, lose m-my...'grip' on it, so to speak."

Lex Luthor has posed:
There's a pause, before Maya gets a nod from Lex, "You give me the impression, Maya, of a girl just starting out with her life... trying to figure herself out, and not used to dealing with people. Am I correct so far?" Lex asks, warmly. His tone gives no judgments... just observations.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell seems to hesitate, gaze still lingering down on her lap. But eventually, she nods. "Y-...Yeah, that's...That's correct. Sorry, I'm not, uh, really good with...people." She clears her throat.

Lex Luthor has posed:
"I've known people like you, Maya. It's nothing to be ashamed of." Lex Luthor gives in reply, "Would you like something to eat while we wait for them?" He asks.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell straightens up for a moment, then self-consciously wraps her arms around her middle. "Oh, uh, thanks, but...I-I mean, don't they tell you to, l-like, not eat before...doing stuff at the hospital, or...?" She pauses for a moment, then, "Actually, I...think that's...just surgery. This is--I mean, maybe pluc out the ice, and then stitches, so..."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"That's before surgery or giving blood." Lex continues, before he looks outside the room, where Mercy and Hope wait. "Hope, can you get the young lady here a nice meal?" She gives a nod, and Lex moves back inside, "There."

It's around this time a machine is wheeled in by that same doctor. It's got heating pads, a tube construction, and a few other accessories. "Now then... this will melt the ice without serious any damage to your hands, young lady. Just place your hand in the tube." The doctor points to it. It's obviously designed for limbs.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell hesitates and draws away from the machine, but slowly brings her hand into it. "I-I'm serious, my skin's...l-like, naturally cold." She pauses, then, "Is it...ah, safe if we...melt the ice i-inside my hands? I mean, it's not warm enough to melt it already, so..."

Lex Luthor has posed:
"This machine is very selective about where it applies heat, Miss. You'll be fine." The doctor replies, before he hits a switch, operates a dial, and plugs it in.

The inside of the tube contracts around the ice, and it slowly begins to melt, "Since you're not in any danger of hypothermia, this will just let us get to your hand." The doctor continues as he monitors the machine.

Lex watches curiously, "Are you able to control your movement when encased in that ice?" Lex asks.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell winces and squirms lightly as the machine starts, but quickly settles down. "I, uhm...Kind of? I mean, I-I can't -move-, because there's ice in the way, but...i-it doesn't hurt me because...well, I'm...uh, used to cold temperatures." She pauses for a few seconds, then, "Why, uh...Wh-Why are you asking?"

Lex Luthor has posed:
"I was just curious, Maya. I don't often meet mutants from your school, I'm so busy." Lex gives in answer, before he smirks, "it just reminds me of a design issue on a project I'm working on. Encasement is particularly important in it. So, you can make ice... and then control it with your mental processes." A pause, "You wouldn't happen to be the person in that big ice golem thing a few months ago, would you? There was news about something like that popping up on the east coast."

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell freezes for a few seconds, then shakes her head. "Uh, n-...no, like I said, I-I can't, uh, control ice. Just water. But ice related powers, er, tend to be common, so..." She shrugs. "I-I dunno." She's prepared a stock answer in the event someone might ask her about the Golem, but she hadn't expected it to be someone so powerful and influential.

Lex Luthor has posed:
"This is true enough. That Iceman fellow is probably testing new ice forms." Lex points out, then.

He even sounds like he believes it.

Then, Hope comes back, with two plates meals. One is given to Lex. The other, to Maya, "Consider it on me as well, Maya." Lex gets to digging in."

The ice block on her hand is starting to melt... but there's no residue.

Glacier has posed:
Maya Caldwell nods briefly to Lex, then looks over to Hope as she enters with the food. Normally, she'd assume that wouldn't be allowed, but this is Lex Luthor, after all! She glances down at her thawing hand, then sighs. "Sorry, I-I just...kind of panicked, I guess. I probably, uh, didn't...need that much ice..."
