Cast of Characters: Gorilla Grodd, Crusader, Green Lantern (Cruz)
Tinyplot: The Impossible Compass

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd looked with enjoyment at the small library of books that he had obtained from Liliput. His knowledge of clock work had already increased immensely. Today...today would be a real prize to be sure. He was just finishing the precise calculations on the compass. Once he realized that he could calibrate the needle to the exact spot in a book or story that he intended to enter rather than "Camelot" his plans made more sense. Camelot would be a much tougher nut to crack than Lilliput and as such he intended to play it much more safely. He checked the holo generator on his watch to make sure he could keep up the appearance he wanted, knowing some of the knights might see through 'glamours' such as his telepathic projections. Caution was warranted, but no risk, no reward?

Crusader has posed:
Crusader on his own did not notice anything odd happening with the earth. Everything as it stood was fairly normal. As such he went through life normally...untill his visit to occult store due to recent event caught his attention. He heard people over talking about changes in the earth and time. An odd thing to talk about...but not something to Overlook. Using his holodoc...he began to find copies of books that where different than those presented on earth...and even odder saw them changing slowly, but surely.
It seemed a good enough reason to investigate. Not his specialty, but he had to start somewhere. As such he investigation started by seeing which countries or areas have changed the most signifcantly according to the (slowly changing) infomation he has stored. Including memories that were begining to alter as well, something that worried him.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The talk in the store is more speculative than anything else. There are many who simply don't believe that any change has taken place but it has certainly caused chatter among the arcane community. The gist of it centers around Gulliver's Travels. Many people have begun camping out in book stores hoping to see if it happens again since people think it might be a wish spell. No one is quite sure what to make of it but all agree that it is some immensely powerful magical effect.

The Autodoc is incredulous because it states,"There is a temporal anomoly, the past has been changed but previous comparisions to known copies of Earth literature compared to current copies remain the same. It is most...alarming. The pattern matches known pattens of temporal distortions but if it has taken place, it appears that we have been affected. The common demoninator appears to be a Gorilla. A cross reference of local news stories does mention a Gorilla doing something about a Pirate Ship.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd slips into the chair and the world slowly fades around him as he finds himself inside of a world gone by, deep in he woods that surround Camelot. As he activates the hologeneator, he suddenly is surrounded by plate mail, covering his face and body, concealing his idenity. Activating a forcefield, a telekinetic horse appears, also appearing quite solid and real that he 'mounts' and slowly rides into the approaching solid white marble castle; gorgeous beyond measure with penants flapping in the wind and a perfect blue sky with cotton candy white clouds spread in a marvelous display of fictional nature.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader hmmms as he listens to his Holodoc. "Alright, temperal interference. That means time has changed" he closes his eyes. Sure he knows a few magic folks, but considering few seemed to beleive this was happening, he couldn't directly rely upon the magical communicty. He touches his chest....yea and normally somehow him mixed up with magic equates to demons. Next option!
The pirates were claiming that they were attacked by a Gorilla. But gorillas on the ocean were not a common occurance. Crusader begins to run checks about weather or not their are any gorilla of sufficnent intelligence. He comes across the name Grodd and something about changing folks into ape...but no specific details beyound that. Deciding it might be easier to talk with the 'pirates' he heads to where the pirates where being held to ask them a few questions

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The pirates in question have all been committed to Edna's Home for the Thoroughly Confused, a medium level psychiatric facility for those who could be dangerous but who are not Full Out Arkham level detainees. The slight problem of none of them having any known nationalities doesn't help either. At their defense attorney's assistance, the ship was carbon dated but when it proved not to be from the 17th century like the pirates claimed, they were deemed unfit to stand trial due to shared delusion and committed. The Holodoc does find this manuever...curious. But without any nation claiming them as citizens, that is far from the worst that could have happened to them. The asylum is located in southern florida near West Palm Beach.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd rides in with all the pomp and swagger of a primitive warrior human he can muster and pumps his chest. There are pavillions and banners in great number around the area as Arthur has declared a championship. Grodd smiles wickedly. He knows what is going to happen and none of them will like it.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The page asks, "Are you here to enter the tourney my Lord?"

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd grunts. Sure. Why not? "Yes. But make sure my first bout is not until the afternoon. I have had a long ride."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The page nods, "Of course my lord. Shall I take care of your horse?"

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd almost lets him but remembers his horse isn't real. Cursing his technological arrogance he shakes his head, "I'll see to it boy. Be off with you." Telepathically pushing the lad to be fine with this, he tosses him a coin made of melted down liliputian silver. He rides inside and as soon as he is alone in the bustling place, the horse vanishes back into the box it belongs in and the hologram changes to that of a lowly human servant.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader hmmms. Florida....well good thing about having a FTL ship that can be used on planant and in space, is that it a faster ride than flying! Within a few minutes Crusader makes it from New York City to near the Facility. He stayed invisible and even exited the ship 'invisibly' for lack of a better word
Once on the ground, he appears as his full Crusader self, cape and all as he enters the building. He isn't the most well known hero, but he has appeared on the news a few times. Upon entering he talks to the clerk in his deep baritone "Excuse me Mam. One needs to speak with the so called 'pirates' that have been commited here. One suspects a criminal by the name of Grodd attacked them and might be the cause of their...current state" he even presents evidence of the gorrilla criminal existance - including the fact he wasn't currently behind bar. "As such it is important that One speaks with them" he hoped this would work. But Crusader none the less stays cordial and respectful.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz was doing a detail scan of her copy of Gulliver's Travels, and even bought another one. The same energy permeates the pages of the book where the gorilla rampaged when it wasn't supposed to. She is doing a comparison with the details scan of that doubloon. "There has to be a common ground..." she mutters, rubbing her head. "I should call Hal on this..." she mutters softly, shaking her head. "Anillo, do another scan of literature. Any aberrations since the last one?" she asks. "I'm scanning, J-Bird. This isn't just a wild goose chase - changing that book did alter the fabric of reality." "Yeah... well, let's do this - scan specifically for references for gorillas. Should narrow down the search parameters." Anillo hooks into the Internet and is flashing rapidly, scanning for such. She's in her house, wearing just a tank top and shorts. She is hoping against hope...

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The clerk at the desk looks at Crusader and looks dubious. "You'll need to fill out a form." He shakes his head, "We have had all kinds of reporters and crazies wanting to talk to them. They are unwell, I recommend..." A janitor in the background howls, "I know him. I saw him on the TV. Stop giving him a hard time." The clerk seems non plussed, and before he can object, the janitor takes him back to the back. "Any one in particular you want to talk to? One who thinks he is a doctor is smarter than most, but the captain is in lockdown. Might be transferred to Arkham. Keeps escaping."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
As she looks for a common demoniator, she finds that the same temporal signature covers the dubloons as well as a pirate ship that is in South Florida and all inhabitants thereof (the ring can scan across light years after all.) She also finds a long list of crimes that Grodd is suspected of including examples of human experimentation, an incident at the DMV and strange wheat.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd takes care of the secondary objective first, since once he grabs Excalibur he will need to make a run for it! He carefully makes his way through the cooridors of the castle and is largely ignored. Servants usually are. He has a tray of food he 'borrowed' and carries it dutifully to Merlin's quarters, reading minds from time to time to make sure he has the right direction. He pauses at the door...you never knew with these wizard types but seeing no runes of any kind, he opened the door and walked right in. Empty! He began perusing the shelves for the tome he sought.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Well, well, well. Look what we have here. Gorilla Grodd. She reads the file on him that her ring displays. A super-intelligent gorilla. It's something at least. She suits up and quickly flies to Florida, as fast as possible, tracking down the temporal signatures. Every copy of Gulliver's Travels has that signature - but she's looking for one that's an order of magnitude stronger. She finds the pirate ship and simply lands on board, looking around, Lantern logos flickering into and out of existence around her in a silent 'siren' as she does a deep scan of the ship.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader had to duck to get behind the doors. The man was in essence an armored Hulk after all - and the fact he broke nothing is testiment to how careful he can be! He bows his head to the Janitor "One is thankful for your help" he than crosses his arms. Even if the doctor wasn't a doctor by todays standards - it did mean he had to be smart enough to learn SOMETHING about the human body - but the captain always trying (and succeding) to escape also point to the fact he is an intelligent and cunning individual....as well as to the idea he is trying to get somewhere. "Please bring me them both Sir. They will both prove useful"

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The doctor is a quaint fellow, dressed a bit like one might expect Smee to, in Peter Pan but with raggier clothes wrapped around a mandatory asylum patient getup. He also wears a headscrarf. "Well they are in separate places, and the doctor's closer." The janitor obliges and the doctor looks up at Crusader and sighs, "What now govnor whats this?" Apparently the doctor on a pirate ship is not...well....you know. Doctor Who or the like. "Another one? Yes, we really travelled in time. No, don't never seen a gorilla before. Yes, I am a pirate. No I'm not crazy. Can ye get us outta here?

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
ZING. She soars across the heavens like a bright green bolt of light. At the asylum where the pirates are located, she spots quite a few of them in multiple places and one of them conveniently climbing over an improvised rope ladder on the wall, looking nervously behind him and rapidl moving about his way. As she continues to fly toward the pirate ship, landing on its deck, she notices that it is quite empty. The thing has definitely been brought forward in time, with extreme precision. She does notice at least one other temporal scanner of very advanced tech has also already been looking within the last day or two.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd goes from title to title, frustrated to be sure, but keeping it up. Then he finds it! "Astronomy of the Ages: The Music of the Spheres" a master tome on on astonomy that will come in very handy. Not what he is here for primarily but good enough. He grabs the book and then looks up to see Merlin looking at him....amused and suprised. Thinking quickly he says, "Oh sorry master Merlin. It's just...I've always wanted to learn to read and...." For Merlin is, above all, an educator. The wizard beams and moves over to the book, looking over Grodd's shoulder, "Oh well of course." Grodd smiles, "What's it say sir?

Crusader has posed:
Crusader grunts "One does not think you are crazy, already knows you are a pirate, and has traveled in time oneself, stricktly speaking. One can not promise getting you out....but if you help, one might be able to prove you are not crazy and therefore get you out" he says replying quickly in kind.
"You mentioned another one? Who else have you met with?" he asks for "Otherwise, One only wishes to know what happened in as much detail as possible. Where where you going, what were you carrying, and where did you come from, and at what location did you travel in time? One needs as MUCH detail as you can possibly provide" he touches his own chest as he turns on a recorder "If you do not believe you can recall yourself...than One request that you let One inside your head"

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz does detect the other signature. Not asking permission, considering this Lantern business, she explores the ship and goes belowdecks, putting up a air filter for it's kinda rank down there, seeing if she can spot any devices that could cause temporal flux... but she's afraid that she's on the wrong track AGAIN.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
It does indeed smell. Even if the carbon dating proved nothing, this place has...well...you know. Humans. Living in a wooden ship. It STINKS. There is no evidence below decks of a time machine of any sort. There was evidence above that the mast was cut in two by a laser cannon of sort, and lies, stored and lashed to the hull of the ship. Most of the crews effects have been cleared out.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
"Well lessee. There was the sherrif. The cops. The FIB. The ...whole lotta letter fellas. Someone from Shield....he didnt look like no knight so I dont understand that. Some blue guy, dressed like a parrot, had a 4 all over im. And a whole lot of pshyics like meself but ignorant; didn't know nothing about leeching or amputation or the humors. We came from the year of our lord 1698. April..I lose track of days at sea but were likely the fourth me thinks. A gorilla outta nowhere, attacks our ship, cuts the mast and suddenly fog and gas everywhere. I was coughing and choking, next thing I know another big glass boat pulls up and calls itself the coast guard. The United STates of America. Never heard the like. Tells us its the 21st century.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd moved for more than 30 minutes pretending to be dumb as a brick while Merlin patiently taught him all kinds of words. Finally, Grodd felt he had bided his time enough and slammed into Merlin's mind with a massive psychic assault. Merlin looked up, beard rumpled and nodded, "I thought something was amiss about you. From the future eh? You'll find me quite prep-"

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd shoots Merlin in the face with a Stun pistol, knocking him off his feet and onto the ground in a crumple. "Should have done that in the first place..." the gorilla mutters and grabs the book, leaping through a window.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader hears FIB and chuckles internally. After all - it fairly accurate in his opionine. Let see, people from SHIELD were involved....and if he had to guess, a person from the FANTASTIC four, but he couldn't be completly sure. "Well, leeching has been phased out, though it is still used in a few Hospitals, along with maggots even" another old world way of dealing with wounds "Fog and gas....knock out gas most likely" he curses but moves on "One will not tell you much else, incase we can get you back to your own time. Thank you for your help" het gets up and goes to the Janitor "Alright, One now Requests to see the captain" he tells the Janitor.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz returns to the deck and studies the mast. She just stands there, shaking her head. There's nothing here. Maybe the crew knows something. The naval base nearby was the asnwer, so she heads there, deciding to flash full 'sirens'... and stops outside the base, as the pirate just finishes landing outside the wall. She stands before him. "Do not run - I assume you're one of the pirate crew. I am Green Lantern. Oh, and do make sure not to run. I'd hate to have to restrain you."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The captain is charming in his own way even though he seems to reek of rum. How did he get rum in an asylum? Who knows? He is dressed, unlike the doctor, in a full on pirate gear complete with rapier and flint locks and bows, in a dashing way with a charming smile full of rotting seventeeth century dentistry, "Ah, my lady, I would hardly run from an acrobat so sexily and charmingly dressed as yourself. I don't see your lantern but I will show you yours if you will show you mine. Wait, strike that. Reverse it.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The janitor nods and motions Crusader down a hall, and he says, "He's in a secure wing." As they enter, they find an unconcious guard who has rather cleverly been disguised as a sleeping pirate inmate complete with fake beard...but he forgot to lock the door behind him so the rather wide door looks obvious. The janitor panics and runs to the wall outside and hits an alarm button.

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Landing amidst a group of gaping peasants, Grodd quickly stuns them all into unconciousness. Then he resumes the outward appearance of a knife and 'resummons' his steed, calmly as you please marching it behind him toward the approaching tourney but as he does so, he kneels down and confidently puts a small blinking metal box in the ground and buries it with a prebuilt stick about a foot down like one might a golf-tee. Then he resumes moving towards the knights.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader quickly stops the alarm of the mental facility from ever going off as a panic didn't need to happen...yet. "Relax Sir. Just give One a moment" he quickly access the sercurity system and checks all outside survielance and using the World Wide Web, access cameras outside the facility. Cyberpathy can be nice like that when systems and what not are interconnected. But none the less he quickly locates The Captain....and a Green Lantern. Good
"Sir, thank you for your help. A Green Lantern has already apprehended The Captain, please inform your superiors of this." and with that he actually heads outside and for where Jessica and The Captain is. Seems he not the only who has caught wind of this situation after all.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz raises an eyebrow. "I have a boyfriend, thanks. I'm just wondering about your... interesting voyage. Seems like you were plucked from the... hmmm. Seventeenth century or so, by someone from either here or later... got your main mast severed by some kind of laser, and ended up here in the year 2026. And... your ship also seems to be related to another mystery involving time travel as well. I'd like to hear about your most recent voyage..." She trails off. "Was there a talking, rather intelligent gorilla involved?"

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The captain smiles, "Well I won't tell if you don't tell me lass. But yes, a foul gorilla came, stole my gold and my compass. It's a dangerous tool, no monkey should have it. It's going to get me to El Dorado and the Fountain of Youth, who knows what the monkey will do with it but you need to get it back. I'll make it worth your while." He blinks at Crusadeer as he comes out, wiping his eyes and looking to Jessica, "Are all here so colorful as yourselves?

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
Gorilla Grodd shouts out to the gathered knights in a loud, booming telepathically enhanced voice. "Knights of Camelot! I, Sir Grodd, do challenge you to honorable combat. But, to be fair, I challenge ...ALL OF YOU AT ONCE! WHO WILL FACE ME?" The knights grumble among themselves but with a little telepathic prodding, all roar as one with various battle cries of "For Camelot!" and "For the honor of the King!" And roar across the battle field by the dozen, looking deadly and impressive.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader walks over "Not all, but many are." he was close enough to hear the tail end of the conservation about some compass. EL dorado was the city of gold, and the fountain of Yourth was but another legend. But he is willing to believe anything these days "Can you tell us about this compass? What makes it so dangerous?" he looks to Jessica and nods "Green Lantern....seems we are on the same case" but he none the less looks back to the Captain.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz shrugs. "I'm looking for a intelligent gorilla who appears to have altered history by... somehow... altering the novel Gulliver's Travels. Seriously, any copy of that book shows a ripple of temporal disruption. I've been all over the world... and my investigation has led me here. That compass... can you describe it, Captain?" she asks. "Oh, I'm Green Lantern," she states to Crusader. "Well, the newest one at least."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
"It was a gorilla who took it, that's the monkey you're looking for. Gulliver's Travels? Never heard of it." Then again, he wouldnt have since the book was written a lot later. "The compass can let you travel to anywhere. Anywhere at all if you are willing to sail there. It shows you the spots that are not on the map, so wherever Gulliver went, the compass could take you there. It is dangerous because it could take you to Mount Olypmpus or Asgard or El Dorado...Heaven or Hell itself if you were foolish enough to try. It's a gold compass, old, no one knows who made it but some say it is tied to the fates themselves. All I know is that I went to many amazing places and have heard of even more." He shrugs and smiles charmingly. "Any of you have a spot of rum?

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
As the knights charge. Grodd smiles. He COULD have worn actual armor instead of a hologram but in this case it would have caused problems at this moment. He activates the anti matter powered electro magnet which soars to life and suddenly some of the knights stop. Something was...not right. Then some started to pull away, not successful, but as they continued they resited and pulled the ones who kept charging were suddenly flying through the air and turning into a giant blob of knights as they soared past them. With a single telekinetic grapple, he grabbed Excaliber out of King Arthur as he shrieked helplessly as he sailed on by. Grodd, with not a shred of metal on him except the sword, now packed in a lovely faraday cage of plastic and ceramics. He mounted his 'horse' and rode away.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader nods "One knows, your symbol makrs you as a member of the Corps" he says simply but respectfully towards Jessica. He looks to the captain "No, Ones apology" he tells him. He considers the infomation presented "Mount Olympus....Asgard...El Dorado...heaven and hell. Whats to say..." he gives pause after what he seen after hanging with magic folks....one conclusion comes to mind "That they could not enter books? Green Lantern...can your ring compare a modern picture of Grodd to the Gorilla that appears in Gullivers travels?" he asks, as a possible way to confirm this theory.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz just groans. "A compass that can take you anywhere... including inside a story?" she asks, rubbing her forehead. "So Swift didn't change the book - that gorilla somehoe went inside the story itself, committed a robbery - and that changed the book - made it a laughingstock. And the world became a little less kind..." She then ponders. "That's an excellent idea." She creates a construct image of Grodd as he was last known recently - a slippery ape for sure. She then has Anillo do a scan. "Some versions of the book had pictures..." She creates an image and it's obvious that it's a depiction of the same gorilla. "I'll be damned. I was right." She then sighs. "Anillo. Do another scan. Search for all literary works that have gorillas in them where they shouldn't..."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Anillo was scanning, then suddenly bleeps loudly. "J-Bird, there's a temporal incursion in progress. I'm raising an emergency temporal shield!" She then pulls Crusader and the pirate captain close (probably to the delight of the lecherous captain) and puts up a bright green energy field. "Don't move... I think that gorilla just finished attacking another work of fiction..."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
FOOSH. Inside the shield you can actually see it this time as a giant wave starts from the direction of england and comes rippling across the sea. Nothing immediately visible changes. But the ring immediately gets to work. No new apes have appeared in history but there is a reference to Sir Grodd who has replaced Mordred as the villain of camelot in fictinoal accounts. Without Excaliber, there is no battle with Lancelot and without Lancelot, there is no once and future king. Mordred still destroys camelot but when Arhtur is an old man. No grail quest. No poems about such. To be clear, the ACTUAL camelot happened but all fictional accounts are changed. The ring is still analyzing the changes but they appear to many and greater. And the wound in the world is wider.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader looks around at the temporal shield "One should assimilate such shields for future cases. And...J-Bird? Sound like you are ment to be a rapper" he comments stoicly. He watches as time changes around them. He begans backing up all books in his Holodoc for saving - a modified or fanfic as it would be cosndiered in the current age so they might keep a reference of works of fiction (and potentially fact) that can remain unchanged. "This....is going to take more work. If Grodd is going into these fictional books - it means that they are no longer finction, the items and events will be as real as anything. One suggests we canvas all books Grodd has invaded and see what he has altered, or items he may have taken to see if we can find a pattern and try and predict where he will strike next....though this leaves the problem of how do we catch someone in a book" he says thinking aloud and commenting

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as the scan of literature is onging. She looks at the screen that Anillo displayed. "Yeah, my ring's very talkative. It's one of the first ones ever made and its AI is... very... alive." She reads it over. "Camelot... I mean, the fictional of Camelot - he becamse the villain and stole Excalibur..." She then stares as more informatino appears. She just slumps. "Somehow... Grodd has affected... every fictional account of Camelot. Every single one. It's now a joke. Surprisingly popular but still a joke. The real historical versions are unaffected." She sighs softly. "We have to get that compass away - and fix this damage. Captain... does the compass have anything special about it? Mystical? Electrical? Thaumaturgical? Scientific? I would surmise that Grodd is back in the here and now and we have to stop him... but first we have to find him."

Gorilla Grodd has posed:
The captain shrugs, "It's supposed to be magical. I stole...I mean borrowed it from some Mermaids so if they're still alive they might know something about it. There are instructions on how to use it written on the inside but since we don't have it any more..." he thinks,"I don't think it is melectical." He pauses a moment, "What is meliletical?" He pauses, "I would think clearer if I had some rum. Perhaps we could discuss our next move at a tavern? They do still have taverns right?

Crusader has posed:
"They are called Bars these days" he tells The Captain. "And Captain, please, you stole it, and we really do not care about that right now." he closes his eyes "Mermaids....King Arthur of Atlantis may be able to shed light...Doctor Strange, Zatara, Princess Diana Even, among other magical folks" who else to ask about magical items "Regardless, Green Lantern, one suggest you download an preserve as many books from our times as you can to use for reference for if and when they change"

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods. "Anillo downloaded the entire literary database of Earth after Gulliver's Travels was changed. I'll do a more detailed scan of the future - and compare what's different after the second incursion." She sighs. "I hate to admit it, but this is a brilliant crime. Going into these books, stealing them - getting loot without much effort AND making the world a worser place... there's some admiration to be had for the strategem." She shrugs. "Not sure if they have rum, but how about some tequila? You can tell me about your ship and this compass. But don't get any ideas... I'm in a relatinoship." She offers her hand to the captain as she creates a rowboat construct, ready to take him to a bar.
