About A School Pt 3 - The Curious Parents of Alice Nelson
Date of Scene: 11 March 2018
Location: Xavier's School, Westchester, New York
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Rogue, Rift, Kaydin LeGraize

Jessica Jones has posed:
About a month ago, a certain someone who shall remain nameless approached Jessica Jones with a case involving the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. After doing a routine check up, Jessica enlisted her friend and fellow Defender, Matt Murdock to assist in an 'undercover' type investigation. Ultimately, it was one of the simpler, less involved things, because Jessica honestly never believed there's anything wrong with a preppy school for rich kids.

So it happens that the Nelsons, Matt and Jessica, have schedule an introductory meeting with the school to ask some questions as they decide whether to enroll their daughter, Alice Nelson in the school.

As Jean been busy over her head, and Xavier likely has more important things to do then meet with parents of a prospective student that cerebro didn't personally pick on, it's likely someone from faculty was asked to meet them, along with a Senior student to give the student's perspective.

Should be pretty straight forward.

Exactly on time for the meeting, the door bell rings, Jessica, dressed in blue dress, wearing a matching purse, and matching heels, is standing next to her 'husband' by the door. Good thing he's blind, because if he'd have told anyone what she was wearing, she might have had cause to kill him.

Daredevil has posed:
Matt is dressed the part as well, gone is his usual suit, and it's replaced with a sweater and jeans combo. Karen said it looked nice, so, he was willing to believe her, but he was sure Elektra would have a half-dozen cutting things to say about the ensemble. As usual, he has his red-lensed glasses and white cane with the red tip. He smirks, somewhat knowingly beside Jessica as they wait for someone to answer the door.

"I wonder if they have security cameras," he remarks idly. "Could see if they'd let us have a picture from the feed." He couldn't tell what Jess was wearing precisely but the fact it annoyed her was plain as day to his senses.

He lifts his head slightly, "Hm, someone's coming," he remarks hearing the movement on the other side of the door.

Rogue has posed:
Ororo Munroe had been close to Jean since their early days together here at Xavier's and as such she was often called upon to help Jean do her job here as the Assistant Principal beneath Charles himself.

'Storm' didn't mind doing it either, she'd been a leader-figure for the better part of half her life now... especially back home where she grew up, far from here.

Xavier's School has about two months of classes left before its moving into its summer schedule again, and as such there are a lot of students here, somewhere around 100 people living in this house and its many rooms and dorms.

But, since its getting later in the day classes were out and most of the kids were outside in the backyard around the lake and sports fields.

Storm approaches the front doors and she opens them both. Her hair is tied back into a bun on the top of her head and she's wearing a black blazer and black slacks with a white blouse beneath it the top.

"Mister and Misses Nelsen." Storm says in her thick African accented voice, a smile showing on her youthful face. "A pleasure to meet you, do... come in." And Storm steps aside to let them enter the main foyer of the school.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua is in the foyer already. But might not be noticed. A red glow might draw the eye upward... and a very strange sight would be noticed. There is someone standing on the ceiling, fully upside-down. A Asian girl who is glowing red. The glow engulfs her clothing, making them red too, with brighter glows visible in her limbs, chest, and head. Though her hair and clothing isn't paying attention to this and is draped around her shouldres. She is dust-mopping the wood of the foyer's ceiling, humming softly - then looks 'up' at the floor as she sees Storm enter with two other people. She stands there, watching for the moment, wondering if she'd be needed. Hey, someone has to dust the ceilign. Might as well be the one with gravity powers, right?

Jessica Jones has posed:
"I hope they don't, and if they don't, I hope someone burns the recording, by accident of course," Jessica stammers under her breath at Matt. Good thing she has someone like Matt by her side, having the warning that someone is approaching helps.

She puts on a shockingly radiant smile, shocking to anyone who knows her, as to anyone else she'd just appear the homely homemaker looking after her family. It must be an exciting day, getting to a milestone in the future of her daughter.

"Yes, indeed, a pleasure!" Jessica extends her hand towards Ororo, "thank you so much for agreeing to see us," she sounds as excited as can be, "this school really took my breath away, it's quite the Mansion! It is a Mansion, right? I'm sorry, I haven't been in such places before..." she then looks about, awed by the affluence, before spotting the girl on the ceiling and asking ever so cautiously, "excuse me...but...is that girl on the ceiling?"

Daredevil has posed:
"Of course, by accident," Matt says dryly holding onto his cane with both hands as he waits for the door to open. When it does, he smiles, fighting hard against the twitch at the corner at the cheery sounding Jessica beside him. This trip was full of surprises.

"Yes, she's been describing it to me since we got dropped off. Sounds like an amazing school," he says.

The portal and the floating girl are a shock to his senses but he manages to keep from reacting until Jessica points it out. "Wait, there's a girl on the ceiling?" he asks, letting his surprise show.

Rogue has posed:
Storm hadn't yet become aware of Kitora's presence when she's greeting the newly arrived. "This building was built in the early twentieth century and served as the family home of the Xavier's up until our Headmaster, Charles Xavier decided it held a greater purpose in life than to simply be the resting place for his family's line." Storm lightly explains as they make their way further inside.

She's about to say more when the conversation shifts to Kitora above them and Storm's eyes raise up to see the student up there. "Miss Alua, would you mind coming down here please?" She asks the student. "I think you might be able to answer some of these fine people's questions just as good as I can, if not better."

Storm would look back to both Matt and Jessica then, showing a smile that... obviously is only for Jessica's benefit since she can see that Matt is visually impaired. "We are a school for 'Gifted' youngsters and the gifts that our student body possess are both wondrous and... sometimes alarming." Her smile shifted into a light grin for a brief moment there-in.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua nods. "Yes, Ms. Munroe," she states, as she jumps 'up' towards the floor, gracefully spinning around in midair to land on the ground. As she lands, the aura winks out, showing a rleatively-normal-looking Japanese girl with red hair and eyes. "Let me put this way quickly then I'll be right back." She runs off to put it away in a janitorial closet then return, deciding not to freak out the 'normies' any more than she has to. "My name is Kitora Alua, and I'm a senior in high school here," she states, extending her hand (fingernaisl painted red of course, and her clothes, now visible, are also bright red).

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica looks mind blown at the sight of the girl on the ceiling, pretty much staring in wonder, while telling Matt, "yes, there definitely is a girl on the ceiling."

Jessica nods at Storm's explanation, "I thought 'gifted' meant geniuses, so, you have kids with abilities here?" Just as she shook hands with Ororo, Jessica takes Kitora's offered hand, "nice to meet you..." she tells the girl, "so, would you say if our daughter was a mutant, she'd have no problem fitting in at this school?" Her eyes shift from Kitora to Ororo, curiously.

Daredevil has posed:
When Matt hears footsteps he puts his hand on Jessica's arm and follows his 'wife' inside. "Amazing," he says with a smile at the news. When Jessica stops to shake hands, he stops as well, putting his hands back on his cane. He doesn't respond to the offered handshakes, but he does, say "Good to meet you both," then he extends his own hand for shakes and whatever else.

Matt shoots a worried look at Jessica when she mentions the M-word, playing the part of the concerned father, "Theoretically speaking of course," he adds, while he lets more of what his senses tell him about the place enter his awareness. Doing his version of snooping through drawers and rifling papers. Getting a sense for the place around them.

Rogue has posed:
Storm gives Kitora a pleasant smile when she comes down and explains what she was doing. "And thank you very much for cleaning the school, while your classmates focus far more on destroying it." Ororo lightly jokes with the student before she looks back over to Jessica.

At the question of a mutant daughter fitting in here, Storm shakes her head from side to side. "I wouldn't say that, no." She surprisingly says in a calm voice, before adding. "I would say that this school is the single -best- place for your child to fit in, with her mutation, anywhere on the planet."

A quick smile was shown to Jessica then before she places her eyes upon Matt. "Theoretically speaking, yes." And the amusement on her face could likely be heard within her voice.

A second later and Storm motioned to them to follow her. "Come, I'd offer a tour of the grounds but under the circumstances I assume that you would be more comfortable to simply sit and chat?"

Storm starts to lead them toward the west wing hallway and toward the double doors that lead to the large dining hall.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "A majority of the staff and students here are mutants or those with other special powers," she states. "Oh, maybe we can have dinner?" she chirps, a stomach gurgle coincidentally happening right after. "I think it's chicken fried steak on the menu for dinner." She hmmmms softly. "So, what's your daughter's name?" she asks curiously. "Always good to have new people around. We're a very welcoming group here."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"I do believe sitting down for a chat would be ideal," Jessica offers to Ororo, as she makes sure to stay by the side of her 'husband', often holding on to his upper arm to guide him as they move little further inside. "We are relieved to hear that," she admits, before smiling at the correction from Matt, "yes, theoretically speaking, is what I meant to say...so what kind of gifts do students around here have? Is there any danger? Or everything is safe...? I honestly don't even know where to begin in helping our daughter...not that she needs help." Asked for their daughter's name, Jessica answers instantenously, "Alice Nelson, and she's very smart. Though sometimes she's a little headstrong," Jessica notes, "stubborn as a mule, clearly, she takes after her father..."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
The dining room was a blur of motion. Lightning can be seen arcing the mid air as something moves with nearly blinding speed across the tables, setting plates down and silverware. With the task done, Kaydin appears next to Kitora, panting a little. "I ran all the way from home and did this without stopping." He says as he is holding a big belly burger soft drink, which he sips. A happy sound given to the taste of caffeine and sugar.

Daredevil has posed:
"Destroying it?" Matt asks, brows arching over his red lenses. "I hope that's hyperbole," he says with a smile to push off any thoughts that he might have taken it seriously.

He turns his head Jessica's way when food is brought up. "What do you say, honey? Feel like having an early dinner?"

He was so going to pay for that honey, later.

"And glad to hear Alice will be welcome here, like my wife said, she's very smart, as for the stubborn, she's being too modest, she definitely got her share of that from her mother too," he says with an oh-so-sweet smile.

"And yes, besides," he glances in the direction he last heard Kitora's voice. "Flying?" he asks then carries on, "What gifts-"

He stops as Kaydin suddenly arrives. "And super-speed? Do your students have around here. Also, do the classess just deal with traditional subjects, or do you teach them to use their abilities as well?"

Rogue has posed:
Storm shows a smile to Kitora and a light nod. "Its a bit early yet for dinner, I am not sure tha tits ready to be served yet. But it shouldn't be too much longer, an hour or so." And she continues to lead them all into the dining hall which is occupied with two large dark wood tables glossed to a clean shine and reflecting the light from the crystal chandeliers that hang over head as well as the fireplace which holds a soft crackling fire since its still rather chilly outside.

A pair of chairs are pulled out and Storm offers a light nod to Jessica's words. "To be blunt with you both." Storm starts, exhaling softly. "If your daughter holds a mutation within her that is giving her own special abilities, the danger resides in not helping her learn how to explore it... and obtain a control over it. Which is precisely what we do here. There is danger everywhere in our world, but to neglect to help your child learn to not fear their mutation? That is simple responsible parenting, and we're here to help you all do that very thing. Make your child feel safer, feel happier."

And then Kaydin!

Storm draws in a quick breath before she releases it softly. "Super speed yes..." Storm softly says back to Matt with a slight and short huff of a laugh. "I apologize, it can be startling, I know." She looks to Kaydin then. "Thank you for putting down the table settings, Mister LeGraize."

At Matt again, Storm nods her chin once. "Many of our students will refer to this school as 'Hogwartz', if you're familiar with the Harry Potter books... I believe that helps a lot of people who are, get a firmer grasp on... well, some of what we do here." She grins lightly again then.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua smiles. "You didn't bring me any?" she asks, pouting at Kaydin. "Well, yes, you'll get used to all sorts of things here." She doesn't mention that Storm herself is quite possibly one of the most powerful in the world as she heads over to the service counter, hoping for something. She got a slice of pizza from yesterday which she ate in two gulps as she returns to the group. "So - yeah. Some of us have special needs... Kaydin and I both have... superhuman appetites. Him from being a speedster, me from being able to bend the laws of physics." She winks at the two. "Anyway. The curriculum is challenging... and we are taught the usual high school stuff - and also there are stuff abuot powers, especially for those who don't quite have them under control."

Jessica Jones has posed:
"There'll be no need for dinner," Jessica declines politely, which seems to agree with Ororo's sentiment that it is far too early for it, and she also turns to Matt and notes, "sweety, I have a lasagna baking in the oven, so we best eat dinner at home today. It was supposed to be a surprise, but oh well..." yeah, Matt likely could be on the very subtle shift in Jessica as he calls her 'honey'. She really is spectacular at self control when she needs to control herself, but he's far too sharp not to have noticed the rush of blood.

But then her heart really starts going wild when Kaydin makes an unexpected appearance, leading Jessica to jump out of her seat, before sighing in relief and sinking back down. That kid doesn't even know how lucky he is that she's doing her best to maintain an undercover role here. "I must say it sounds excellent so far...would registration for the next semester still be possible?" Jessica asks, before looking aside at Matt, "or are you still set on the Catholic school...?" She looks apologetically at Ororo and notes, "we've been having a bit of a debate on what would be better for our dear Alice."

Kaydin LeGraize has posed:
Kaydin only smirks before vanishing in a blur of motion. It takes a couple of seconds but then he is back, holding a bag in his hand and a french beret on his head. "Croscuant?" He asks with his best french accent as he offers her the bag. He then looks to the two and watches them. "This place is one of the best places to be if you are different. The best part with me is I can still head back home some nights back to near seattle and make it back to class fairly quick."

Daredevil has posed:
Matt gives his nose a scratch to cover his slight grin at Jessica's reaction to being called Honey. "Oh, well then if there's lasagna," Matt allows before finding his seat with his cane and sitting down.

Ororo's words are taken in and nodded to, "Learning not to fear their own mutation, makes sense, I know our April doesn't like to show it, but I think her abilities scare her sometimes, it's a lot for a kid to have to deal with," he says, nodding solemnly

Kitora's comments about the curriculum is met with a further nod and a smile, "So, who's the best teacher?" he asks the student with a smile. "Besides Professor Munroe of course."

Kaydin is in and out and when Jessica stands, he moves his hand in her direction feeling for her arm, "I am sure everything is under control," he says.

Then about the Xaviers vs Catholic school debate, he smiles, "I am surprised you're asking, last time we talked about it you said, Catholic school would brain wash her," he says with a slightly smug grin, before he shakes his head, "Though I admit, I am changing my position on it, this school seems like an excellent fit."

He turns to Storm. "And the identities of your students, those are kept confidential for the most part? I understand there has been a lot of trouble in Mutant Town and elsewhere lately."

Rogue has posed:
Ororo stands up and allows Kitora to explain her side of being a student here while she moves to a cabinet that she opens the top drawer on and pulls out a Student Registration Folder as they're kept in here in small numbers for the times like this where potential new students and their families are tended to in the dining hall.

When Ororo returns to the table she slides the folder over the table to Jessica. "You'll find all our information in here for you and your family to go over. You can enroll her for summer classes starting in late May, if that sounds appealing. Or wait until Fall. She can even stay here over the summer, if she wants to just warm up to the place before the Fall semester begins."

When Kaydin returns with his Paris stylings, Storm just shows him a faint smirk. "As long as you are not spray painting other people's properties, Mister LeGraize." She says to him with a pointed stare.

Storm settles down onto the edge of her own chair once more and regards Matt then, she takes note of the name he speaks. "April?" She looks between the two of them. "Cannot decide on Catholic School or 'Mutant High' as well as being unable to decide on her name?" She shows a larger grin then to the two 'parents'.

"We do everything in our power to keep the students here safe, but sometimes the student themselves make that somewhat of a challenge." Ororo says as she glances to both Kitora and Kaydin, showing them a light smile.

Jessica Jones has posed:
If Matt thought he felt Jessica reign in her anger when he called her 'honey', this time around when he blows a cover story she made sure to prepare with him before hand, he may get an uneasy feeling he should duck. Even though no punch is coming his way, unlike some people, Jessica knows how to maintain a cover. She's also rather quick witted, as she doesn't even delay in pointing out, "Alice April Nelson, my honey bunny," she smiles widely at Matt, it's a sweet smile, but one might read it as a bit sinister, or perhaps downright psychotic. Is she thinking about breaking his nose? Possibly. "He insisted we name her April after his favorite auntie, but I was steadfast that we'll call her Alice, hence the alliterating Alice April, sad but true..." she then nudges Matt for real, and while it looks like a regular nudge, most don't realize how strong Jessica is. At least Matt can take it, "and you should have told me it still bothers you, sweety, because it's bad to keep secrets festering under the surface. You know that 50 percent of all marriages end up in divorce? It's exactly for stuff like that..."

She looks a bit upset, apparently there's more to this Alice/April thing then was let on this after noon, something of a lovers' spat perhaps? Either way, back to the subject of a school, Jessica notes, "we were under the impression this was a 'school for the gifted', as in little geniuses, my husband wanted a more religious upbringing. We've been having back and forth about a prep school or a catholic school for a while now, Ms. Munroe...we still don't have our mind set."

If that teacher doesn't buy the whole Alice / April explanation, Matt is going to be facing pain. Lots of pain.

Rift has posed:
Kitora Alua blinkblinks. "So - ah, the curse of the preferred middle name..." She then ponders. "One factor in your determination must be this: was she one of the lucky ones that can blend in with normal society? Some of us are able to. I mean, I can go out with just sunglasses - some girls do dye their hair unnatural shades, even bright red. Kaydin looks normal... others aren't so fortunate and don't look remotely human and can't blend..." She ponders. "Regardless, everyone is welcome here."

Daredevil has posed:
Damn it! Matt spends most of his days pretending to be blind, so of course when he adds one more thing to juggle he screws it up. He frowns, at the mistake and when he gets that heavy nudge, he takes it, probably feels he deserves it too, Catholics, right? He lets out an exhale, rubbing his brow above his glasses. "Can we not do this here?" he asks Jessica in a put upon tone. "I know what we decided, and it was just a slip of the tongue. I am sorry, I still think of her as April sometimes," he tries his best to put a smile on his face and placate her. "You were the one who said I was stubborn remember?"

"Sorry," he says to the others apologetically. "And yes, we're still thinking things over but all of this was very impressive."

As for Alice looking normal. He leaves that to her sighted mother.

Rogue has posed:
Storm's leaned back in her chair by this point and she's offered Kitora a nod of agreement with the girl's voiced words of wisdom on the way things work here at their home and school. Ororo's then looking back to the married couple and she's just observing their... relationship, which internally makes her that much happier that she is not married!

"Yes, well." Storm nods to the folder that she'd pushed toward the two of them. "You are more than welcome to take that with you and return home to your lasagna, look it all over and get back to us with your thoughts on how you'd like to proceed... if even at all."

Truth be told, Ororo had dealt with way weirder parents than these two in her time with the school's faculty. Though she was only twenty five and she'd only been at this for a couple of years, she'd seen some rather... odd couples... to say the very least.

"And you can always reach out to us via e-mail or phone. All of our contact information, the faculty's, can be found in there."

Jessica Jones has posed:
Jessica takes the information from Storm, and places it in her purse, "I do appreciate your patience with us, and we will most certainly give it a thorough look...who should we contact next?" Jessica asks, as a worried mother who no doubt already made contact with several people at the school, "Is it Professor Xavier or Ms. Grey?" She asks, as if to make sure, until Ororo reminds her all the contact information is in the phamphlet she just received. "Oh, of course! Thank you!" She gets up on that note, helping Matt to his feet as well, "honey, I think we have to talk...but at least it'll be over delicious lasgna."

Starting for the door, she once again remarks, "thank you for your time, Ms. Munroe, and it was a pleasure to meet you students," yeah, Jessica didn't even bother with the students name. Go figure...
