Synopsis: Hal & Supes have a chit chat about Oa!
Cast of Characters: Superman, Green Lantern (Jordan)

Superman has posed:
Superman is facing the window, looking out on a half-moon lit sky, the air cool but dry for once during the typically rainy winter. Promise of cold to come probably has more folks out than normal as he looks through the library windows while waiting for Hal to show up. His cape sways idly with the movements of the air in the quiet library, and only necessary lights are turned on. Not for effect...more just because Superman doesn't need that much and the whole electricity thing. Gotta protect the environment. Be blows on the class once, watching it mist up, and idly draws the symbol on his chest in the steamed surface before turning to find a place to lean against a desk, waiting.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
A green nimbus of energy fortells the coming of the Green Lantern of Sector 2814 himself, the one, the only, Hal Jordan. Floating into the Hall of Justice, Hal moves towards the library with some alacrity, as he scans the area solemnly. "This place always sobers me up..." Hal says, with a quiet voice, knowing that too loud and his voice would echo off the walls of the near empty HoJ.

As he moves into the room, Hal notes that Superman is present. Stopping several feet into the room, still floating about 6 feet above the ground, Hal says, "I'm here Superman. What was so urgent that you needed me?" Hal stops and says, "Is everything alright?" Hal then moves a bit closer, and smiles at the symbol that Supes had just drawn.

Superman has posed:
That calm voice of Kal-El's speaks up, a bit of a chuckle as he says, "I never said it was important," he explains. "Unless of course you consider the defense of our planet a big deal," he says, tone straight laced and tight before he cracks a grin at the corner of his mouth. "I know Bruce and Diana already spoke to you about the other lanterns. They asked me to follow up with a slightly different line of questioning, assuming you don't mind," he says, gesturing towards the chairs.

"We had some questions about the Green Lanterns. You being the resident expert, seemed like a...mostly reliable source of information." That light grin again...see Superman has jokes today...apparently. Aren't you a lucky guy?

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"Naw, it's never a big deal. It's a run of the mill, happen every week kind of thing anyway." Hal grins, crosses his arms across his chest, and lands. With a flick of his will, the green aura that usually surrounds him fades from view. It was always there if needed, but not when dealing with Superman.

"AH." Hal walks over to the table, and uncrosses his arms just long enough to wipe some dust from the teable. "Yeah, they came to me and were asking about them. I downloaded everything the GLC has on them into the memory core." Hal looks at his white glove, grimaces, and shakes his head. Looking back at Superman he contines.

"I don't mind. Fire aweay!" Hal says, and looks at Supes with a curious expression. Then, Hal's smile widens. Now that was something rare, indeed. Humour. "Of course. MOSTLY reliable." Hal chuckles. "No problem. What can I help you with?"

Superman has posed:
Superman seems pleased. "Excellent," he says, and typing something onto a keyboard a list of....wow, well over 100 questions come up and it seems like that's the list until one reads more closely and realizes that it's more of a list of Daily Planet relationship questions, such as how to find your perfect mate and 'are you a dog or cat person' before he swipes over to the right. "Oops..." he says, a grin again, having clearly wanted you to think this was going to take all day and then he actually turns the monitor off again. Clearly...Superman is off his meds.

"Actually the only questions we have really are about...is it...Oa? We gather, from what little we've been told, that it is both a planet and the location of the Green Lantern Headquarters? Can you tell me a bit more about the relationship between the Green Lantern Corps and the government of Oa?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal leans back for a moment, and then notices what Superman was looking at. Shaking his head with a grin, Hal says, "Nice..." And decides that discretion was the better part of valour in this case. The sparkle of mischief in his eye lasts only for a moment, as Hal nods, and says, "No worries."

"Oa." Hal blinks, and says, "Well, that would take a long time to explain, but here's the Coles Notes." Hal says, "The guardians of the Universe are an ancient race of beings that created the GLC. They originated on Oa, and that is the central location and headquarters for the GLC." Hal goes into several details, keeping it as simple as possible, and explains the hierarchy and the political situation.

"All of this I can ensure is added to the JL database for you. I know you can read fast!" Hal grins. "Any questions?"

Superman has posed:
Superman nods, listening to the bit you talk about, explaining how they were founded there and such. He's patient, but as you get to the political situation that seems to be the area of interest. "I think that's one of or the questions we have. They were founded there....so how does that work? For example I work with the governments here but they don't hold any sway or authority over us. Is it the same for the GLC and Oa? Does GLC do work for the government of Oa, or do they operate independently and are simply located on the planet? The concern we have, or the question we'd like to clarify, is how much at risk is the GLC of being pulled into the politics of the planet and at what level are the officials of government and the officals of the GLC separate...or the same? Who is the deciding factor on what the GLC gets involved in or not?" It's obvious the question, beign phrased far more diplomatically by Superman than it would have likely been by the Bats, is how much at risk is the GLC of being a political pawn or falling under political sway of the planet vs. being able to operate independently.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan nods as Superman asks his questions. "No, the Guardians are our bosses. They are a..." a long pause, as Hal grimaces, "...benevolent race of immortal beings who created us, and administer is. It isn't a perfect relationship, but has worked for millenia." Hal frowns. "Wow...some very deep questions. The government of Oa and the leaders of the GLC are the same. THe Green Lanterns are the soldiers, the Guardians are the generals. Like I said. It is far from perfect." Hal then explains the other information, and stops on...

"Look. The Green Lantern of each sector is kind of like a Colonel. They decide what they are going to be involved in. They are not immune to political pressures of their home planets, but they usually make the correct call, and don't become a political pawn. 98 percent of the time. Rare exceptions are dealt with severely by the Guardians."

Superman has posed:
Superman hmms. "Interesting. Is there a way we can have a sit down with the...Guardians? I think the issue that we're having trouble coming to consensus on is what happens if the government of Oa decides they want something? How do they go about it without using the GLC as their army, so to speak? Though as you said they're immortal and benevolent so ideally that means that they wouldn't do such on principle but I think that's where my sense of optimism and Bruce's sense of...being prepared...come into conflict. Let me know how we go about learning more such as what happens if a galaxy doesn't want the Corps in their space? Little things like that...the things that they'd probably say are petty concerns of a young species still finding its way compared to their immortal greatness," he says and stands up. "Thanks for making the time though Hal."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal nods. "I don't think they will be available. But I can always ask them." Hal takes a moment, as the glow once more envelopes him. Floating slightly off the ground, "Sorry, I can't answer all of your questions. All's I say is that the Guardians are pretty much big into non-interference except for sending us to protect and serve, and to beat up on bad guys. They don'tget involved in politics as far as I know. I'll keep an eye out just in case. For all of your points." With that, Hal says, "We should follow up, and talk about this more, next time Diana and Bruce are around. Maybe even Barry." With a salute, and a nod, Hal flies out of the building and into the night.
