Cast of Characters: Andromeda, Slipstream

Andromeda has posed:
Drake's phone rings around 4:00PM. The number is Laurel's. She doesn't call very often so this is a notable occaasion, really. Her voice is soft across the phone line. "So.... I was wondering. Did you want to go out to the park with me this evening and - take a walk? The birds won't be out but I wanted to see the park and I'd rather not go alone..."

Slipstream has posed:
The phone is answered by the fifth ring and Drake's voice can be heard distractedly, "Winston, one! Winston, one! NIIIIIIICE! Great pick, Valk! Huh? Hey, hello?" He says as the phone is dropped, followed by plucking it back up. "Hey, uh... Oh! Laurel. Yeah. I can .. um.. want to pop over and meet me? I can throw some clothes on. Wait.. Mercy, Mercy, Mercy! NAISU!" There's a round of laughter near by in the distance. "I'm free. I'll get dressed."

Andromeda has posed:
"Alright, I'll be there n a minute." Laurel meant that literally. She reaches Drake's home before he is even dressed to knock pollitely at the door. Somehow the reaction of his housemates is just as enthusiastic as it was the first time she came by, though with some added whispering in the background. Someone shouts, "...Damn it! She distracted me. Someone figure out where Widowmaker's shooting from?"

Slipstream has posed:
There is another laugh from Valkerie as she shoots a grin over to Try Hard. "Maybe if you were paying more attention to the game than your dick, you'd have seen her sight lines!" The pink haired girl with the tattoos smirk in amusement as she goes back to hammering her fingers on the keyboard with quick swipes of the mouse. Drake finally comes down in a pair of loose fitted jeans and a snug red wine shirt beneath his black Overwatch jacket. He smiles at the sight of her. "Hey. Geez, you are fast."

Andromeda has posed:
"Yes," Laurel agrees without any ego whatsoever. "So ar you," she adds after a moment with a faint smile. Drake is offered her arm when he is close. Laurel is happy to walk normally as they make their way toward the park, moving with long, careful strides. "I've been thinking a about a lot of things," she begins. ""How have you been the last couple of days...?""

Slipstream has posed:
Sliding his arm into hers, Drake walks along with a smile after he zips up his jacket. He has to take a bit of a quicker stride to keep up with her, though the way he moves he seems rather practiced. "I'm okay. Spending a lot of time with the Avengers. I got to meet Captain America. Can you believe that? /Captain America/. Holy crap he is like.. incredible. I can see why girls drop around him like flies. Did you know he punched the Red Skull in the face? Besides that, I think they're closer on finding a cure for me, so I can go back to being normal and not having my body ripped apart. So, that's a win."

Andromeda has posed:
"That's probaably for the best," Laurel agrees. "I'm glad to hear you'll be better soon." The raw presence of Captain America isn't as vivid in Laurel's mind as in Drake's but her smile continues to brighten as his enthusiasm washes over her. "I'm glad you're starting to feel more like yourself. The Avenger, though? Were you thinking of trying to join?"

Slipstream has posed:
"Me? Join the Avengers? I don't know. Mister America and Tony both mentioned something about it being a possibility... and Tony was talking about building some cool gadgets for me... like shield gauntlets or something that can help protect me when I'm in speed mode and I'm punching something at hyper drive. He was probably thinking outloud. Sides', they're the /Avengers/. I doubt they need someone like me when they have the world's greatest Superheroes on their roster." Drake chuckles to himself as he shrugs his shoulders upwards. "I don't even know if I'll retain my powers though when they cure me. I may end up going back to boring Drake."

Andromeda has posed:
"Not all of the Avengers have powers, you know,"Laurel suggests quietly. "Maybe you should secure some of those gadgets firs," she suggests after a moment. "Then go back to being Drake. If... That's what you want." They are still deep in the city at the moment, though the parak is now in view up ahead.

Slipstream has posed:
"Well, I'm kinda still Drake right now." The young man says with a grin as he squeezes her arm a bit as they walk down the sidewalk. "I just zip around a few times a day before my body starts to hate me. It's not much of a kick ass super power, and let's be real here, I'm super squishy. If I lost my power, I can't put on a few gadgets and fight The Hulk. I'd be turned into peanutbutter. My speed makes me an annoyance for bad guys. A distraction. I sorta see myself in a flanker role." He glances upa t her with a warm smile. "You had a pause there though. What's wrong?"

Andromeda has posed:
"I worry about you," Laurel repsonds simply. "And I agree. I'm saying you could learn. If you really wanted to. Green Arrow, Batman, Hawkeye... They don't have special powers to distinguish themselves with- I don't believe." Laurel frowns faintly, green eyes cast downward as they paass into the park. "Don't let your role be limited by the powers you might have. Just - be careful if you decide to try for more."

Slipstream has posed:
"Yeah, well, those guys are also hooked up I believe since they got all those neat gadgets and stuff, and they got a lot of combat training I'm assuming." Drake says as he shrugs his shoulders. "Can you really see me though being like Batman? Growling in my voice, being all dark and broody?" He grins a bit, followed by a shrug. "But, hey, I've put on a bit of muscle! Been working out a few days a week and I'm on a new diet now. Less energy drinks and more protein. I even got some abs."

Andromeda has posed:
"You have abs? Where did you buy them?" Laurel flashes a smile at Drake to soften the blow and then takes a deep breath as she pauses in midstride to look around. "I said you could do it, not that it would be quick or easy." She shrugs. "If it seems impossible then do something else. I want you to be happy, not dead or overworked. ANd you would make a great bat... Boy. Yes. Batboy."

Slipstream has posed:
"Batman already has a Batboy. He's called Robin and he wears sparkly green ball shorts and it's uncomfortable. No thanks." Drake laughs as he winks at her. "And what do you mean where did I buy my Abs?" He feigns a hurt look on his face. "Do you have any clue how hard it is to do crunches all day? Not everyone is born with a perfect body like yours you know. Some of us have to do actual work for it."

Andromeda has posed:
"I work out for at least an hour every day, sometimes several. I do calisthenics, martial arts training, and also flight exercises." Laurel relates this with a shrug. "Among my people there is as much variation in strength as there is in yours. I have to be stronger than the others. So I train. A lot."

Slipstream has posed:
There is a small snort from Drake as he slides his hand down into hers for a squeeze. "You forgot buns of steel and hot yoga." He says teasingly to her. "On Earth you don't have to be stronger than the others. You can be normal Laurel also you know. Just ridiculously hot and super strong normal Laurel who can fly really fast and punch small moons out of orbit."

Andromeda has posed:
"Unless a rogue Kryptonian attacks or the Juggernaut gets out of bounds or..."" Laurel shakes her head hsarply in a flash of blonde tresses. She gently squeezes Drake's hand and takes a breath. "No, I have to train. And thats okay. I don't know what I'd do if I stopped...."She takes a deep breath and holds it for a moment. "I started this routine when I was very small. I imagine the other me told you all about it?"

Slipstream has posed:
"Yes, yes, the other you was just as stubborn." Drake laughs as he bumps his shoulder against hers. "I'm baiting this conversation out because we've had it so many times before. I know how to rile you up and get you defensive about it all. I was never successful in having you give up a life of being a kick ass super hero to be a normal, boring kick ass housewife. I didn't have powers in the other world though. I wore a tie and went to work and crunched numbers all day while you saved the world. I don't know why you loved me so much. I was so boring."

Andromeda has posed:
"I don't think that's boring. People aren't - boring," Laurel replies firmly, shaking her head. "Thats not the point. You're intelligent, funny... Infuriating..." She bumps him back, gently. "And thoughtful. You care what I think and what I want. I don't need more excitement too be happy. I have a universe full of it. The reason so many people are 'boring' is that a "boring" life is pretty nice. Just not to read about." She blinks once and then lowers her chin slowoly. "Though if you WANT to keep being a 'hero'..."

Slipstream has posed:
"Oh, you read ahead in my journal." Drake laughs as he gives her a grin upwards to her. "Yes, yes, /if/ I want to keep being a hero. I suppose I will let fate decide. For now though, I enjoy cleaning up the streets here and there." He winks at her. "You looking for a sidekick? I dunno... Dazzler kinda already laid claim. We call ourselves The Drazzler. Though don't let her know I told you that. It's copyright pending." He says in an obvious joking tone. She'd punch him in the face.

Andromeda has posed:
"If you want to work with Dazzler that sounds like a good idea. I don't mind having you work with me but maybe sidekick is a bit much," Laurel replies honestly. "Case-by-case? If I need to go fight with some kind of monster that inhabits the dark side of the moon I might need to leave you here. Oxygen is important, I understand." She's still smiling. "I'd be happy to have you with me on patrol whenever possible. I'm serious. You could probably get a spot in the Legion... if your powers end up permanent."

Slipstream has posed:
"Ha, I was joking. Dazzler actually can't stand me when I bring I bring it up. It's a real OmegaLul and it gets her riled up." Drake chuckles with some amusement. "She's kinda more of a solo player than a duo partner if you know what I mean? She doesn't need me messing her style up. But, sure, we can go kick it in spandex and facemasks if you want. I've been calling myself Slip Stream. Don't got a costume or a uniform yet. I was thinking of just.. uh ... wearing jeans and a t-shirt honestly."

Andromeda has posed:
"We should look at a uniform. Not a costume, but-"" Laurle shakes her head slowly. "Professionalism influences people's opinion of you. It's important to look the part if you can manage it."She takes a deep breath and then holds it for a beat, as she often does. "Thougha t -shirt and jeans isn't a bad choice if that is what you really want to do. It's almost like Laurel had forgotten herself for a second and is now hedging her bets.

Slipstream has posed:
"I don't know, I don't see myself ducking into a phone booth to put on a cape and a mask if I am watching a mugging. I'm sorta move in the moment you know?" Drake chuckles at the thought. "I really don't think too much about it. I'm happy with what's going on right now. My stream. My tournaments. My friends. It's all good." He assures her. "The superhero stuff when I'm lucky to do some good is a nice thing on the side. I don't even know what kinda costume or uniform I'd even put on. You'd think with the fact I play a game based upon superheroes I'd have an idea."
