Cast of Characters: Jubilee, X-Man

Jubilee has posed:
The night's dark, even by the standards of Hell's Kitchen. Something permeates the atmosphere here that has put even the rats that normally scurry down the alleyways into hiding. In fact, the alley is dark and deathly quiet, save for two men with a grey box van that is all but invisible in the night. One stands at the back, with both cargo doors open, loading merchandise from a pallet. The other stands at the front of the van, keeping lookout as best he can.

But tonight, these two aren't alone. Another joined them nearly ten minutes ago, and watches their movements to best plan the attack. There's nothing left but predatory instinct as blue eyes glow faintly in the darkness three bay doors down. Hunger drives Jubilation to lay in wait like a predator, and within moments, she'll spring the trap on her prey.

X-Man has posed:
Darkness, Hunger, Fear, and Despair are all things that are known well in Hell's Kitchen. Tonight most of that can be felt from the mind of one predator, and perhaps a few other mixed emotions that are hard to pick out. It won't be long now, and Jubilee can sate that thirst she's been holding off on for so long. However, as she is ready to pounce a missing link pops into her mind, one that mysteriously disappeared not too long ago. Through that link she'll sense Confusion, Anger, and Curiosity as those thoughts push through a brand new opening.

Then, that link grows stronger, and the presence behind is starting to move closer at an increased speed. He won't be there in the next few moments, but Jubilee can sense the person that owns that link as if he was standing right next to her. He doesn't press into her thoughts, but she does get a sense of Calm and Happiness that is very clear through their shared link. There's no judgment in her hunting, only the fact that he will be there soon, and she may not have to wait long to feed if that is what she wishes.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee flinches as a feeling both familiar and altogether new takes hold of her somewhere inside. She's felt the beating of his heart so many times in dreams, only to wake and find herself alone, that she scarcely trusts her senses anymore. She shakes off the overwhelming feelings and tries again to focus on the man with a brown paper-wrapped package in his hands. But her hesitation has cost her an advantage.

"Hey Snake, somethin' behind ya, man. What is that?" Snake turns to find blue eyes shining in the darkness, already racing toward him at blinding speed. If she misses out on this opportunity, she could snap and take anyone she finds nearby, and it's a risk she can't take. Moreover, the instinct within her is for self-preservation alone, and death by starvation is not something it's willing to face. The dark figure standing at the front of the van backs up so quickly that he topples backwards, the assault rifle he's holding firing haphazardly and ricocheting off the mortar wall. Snake, however, raises a handgun, pointing it squarely at the blue eyes as they close in on him. A hand reaches his throat before his can pull the trigger, and his hand is broken as Jubilee pries the gun from his grip. "We don't shoot other people. It. Isn't. Nice." She tosses the gun down the alley and out of both thugs' reach.

X-Man has posed:
As his presence grows closer, the link strengthens many times over, and he can begin to get a sense of what is happening. To those that pay attention to the sky, a golden colored light is streaking in at impressive speeds, but most of the Humans would totally ignore it as they are compelled to go about their business. However, when he senses Jubilee in danger, at least to some minimal degree there's an intensity to that link that cannot be so easily dismissed. With the next few seconds, the next few phrases, and then floating in the sky behind her in the alley is an all too familiar form.

"Heyas, Jubes." Nate calls out to her, his smile is bright, his left eye glowing even brighter, "I missed you." is the second thing he says, and the sincerity in the link is heavy with his Joy and Concern at her reaction. "I got pulled home for a bit..." She knows that'll mean back to his own Dimension, "Didn't last. Glad, though, I missed every night without ya..." He slowly floats to the ground, aura slowly receding, but his eye as bright as every. "Why don't we let these guys go turn themselves in, like they are goin' do, and you and I take care of what ya need?" His voice is calm, but there's a sense of caution in the link for her that it has been so long. "Let's sort this out, ok?"

Jubilee has posed:
She's in there, somewhere. And fighting to swim to the surface, as if she's been holding her breath for a month. There's no question in her mind anymore whether Nate is real, but the matter of telling her fingers to release the wrist and throat of the man in her grip is another matter entirely.

"Heyas, Jubes," as if nothing had happened, as if nothing had changed. Her expression is one of bewilderment as her instinct fights with the woman inside. Finally she manages, at Nate's urging, to release the man and let him drop to the ground at her feet. Wearing something that resembles fatigues, all in black, she tilts her head, looking Nate over as she turns and approaches him.

"Y-you missed me?" Eyes still aglow, they pulse brighter in his presence, as if his strength bolsters her own.

X-Man has posed:
Without looking at the two men, he tells them both, "Go to the cops. Tell them the crimes you've done. Give them whatever proof they need. Don't hurt anyone on the way." and that said, the two men stand up, and head in the direction of the nearest police station.

"Yeah, o' course I missed you, Jubes." each step is easy, calm, and no matter how Hungry she is, Jubilee knows that Nate cares about her, and isn't worried about her hurting him. "I was taken one night. Right outta the sky. and I couldn't get back to you..." this last part is tinged with a bit of anguish, and she knows he's never been able to truly hide his feelings.

"Every night I looked to the sky. I even tried findin' ya on the other side. I got rumors, but never could track ya down." Eventually he's standing in front of her, reaching for her hands, "Even if I did, I know it wouldn't be you. Not my Jubes, not the one I want, or the one I need. But stopped some portal machine from bein' used to open up somethin' here. Glad I did, 'cause it sent me back to you..." He smiles, a little sad, "been a long six months for me..." 6 MONTHS?!?!

Jubilee has posed:
"Six months..." Jubilee repeats, almost absently. She shakes her head. "It wasn't that here. A month. Two, maybe. When was the last time you fed me? It was right after that." She looks Nate over, examining his eyes, his form, and lifting her hands to touch his face. "You're really you. You're really here."

Crumpling beneath the weight of the revelation, and moreso imagining six months of the agony she felt, Jubilee falls into Nate's arms and holds him close, breathing his scent, that scent she has missed every single moment since he left. These things each find their place in their connection, and for once Jubilee is speechless. But her silence belies the rush of emotions and thoughts in the link between them.

X-Man has posed:
"Yeah, six months..." is all Nate can echo back, but she feels the terrible sadness that welled up in him every night. Fearing that she was gone. Fearing she wasn't cared for by someone. Fearing that she thought he'd left her without a word. His fingers brush through her hair, holding her close to him, and she can feel that strong heart beat in his chest. "Seemed like eternity." He whispers in her ear as he's overwhelmed by her own emotions.

As she opens herself to the link, she can see glimpses of his World, and it was not pleasant. Wars, death, blood, pain, and loss on a daily basis. It seems he even had to relive the loss of his Father, Forge, as it appears that he was brought backwards before his birth. All these are flashes, but further increases the pang of despair she knows he felt in her absence. "We'll be ok, Jubes. Come on, you need to eat."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee takes in all of the emotion, the loss from Nate's world, and it meshes with her own, as she brands the images and emotions against her own spirit. They are a part of her now.

Jubilee forces a smile, looking up into Nate's eyes. "I know a donut shop on the way home..."

X-Man has posed:
There is quiet in the alleyway for a long time as the two lost loves stand there, and hold each other. Uncommon quiet, but Nate's eye glows brightly so there's no doubt he's extending his influence out so that he can just enjoy being in Jubilee's arms as long as possible. Of course, as normal, right as she mentions 'Donut Shop' his stomach growls ... LOUDLY ... and there's his customary half smirk and a chuckle, "Uhm, yeah. Donuts sounds awesome!! I could use somethin' to eat if you can spare a moment or two?" and he kisses her forehead as he smiles down at her. "Ready to go home?"

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee shakes her head slowly. "No, you're gonna need a lot more than donuts to get you through tonight..." Then she relaxes her embrace and takes one step back, still holding onto his hands. Nodding quickly, she replies, "Let's go home."

X-Man has posed:
With no effort at all, the two mutants holding hands in the alley way lift up into the sky, and Nate smiles at Jubilee as his golden aura surrounds her too. "Ok, you lead the way. I bet it's been awhile since you've been flyin'" He she can feel him give her control of their flight through their link. "You pick the food places too. Post Apocalyptic worlds are not good for anythin' tastey to eat..." and then, in a flash, the two disappear over the Horizon heading towards the Mansion, a Lake, and a very welcoming small cabin that will feel more like home than anything Nate has ever had in his life.
