Date of Scene: 22 March 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Hal spots an antique. Plane, that is.
Cast of Characters: Lady Blackhawk, Green Lantern (Jordan)

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
It's not uncommon to find planes flying over the Atlantic these days, especially with intercontinental passenger routes. What makes this particular flight unusual is the actual path of the plane, however. It's too far south to be following a typical path towards Europe and too far north to be flying to Bermuda or the Bahamas.

Another thing that makes this flight unusual is the aircraft itself. It's a vintage P-61 Black Widow in mint condition, circa 1944. It's complete with the antique US Army Air Corps markings, even.

The pilot is Zinda Blake, Lady Blackhawk herself. And she isn't lost. Blackhawk Island isn't exactly a secret anymore, although it's been forgotten by most as the world progressed beyond the squadron's usefulness. Zinda still remembers it, however. And she still remembers the way.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
It was a day like any other. Patrolling through the skies over the Atlantic Ocean, Hal Jordan takes a leisurely pace. Well, a leisurely pace for a being that can travel at unearthly speeds. While in Earth's atmosphere, however, Hal tends to tone it down to do less damage to the surrounding area.

Hal Jordan was currently in his "uniform", the uniform of the Green Lantern Corps, mask and all. The green nimbus of energy that surrounds him does not hide that fact at least. His eyes scan the area, looking for something. Just what, who knows?

That was when Hal spots the plane. "Oh my gawd, she's a beauty..." Hal says under his breath. Pushing his ring to get closer, Hal moves up beside the cockpit, and looks inside. Saluting the pilot, Hal grins, and uses his ring to communicate with her through her radio. "Well, well. Aren't you a little out of place? And a lot out of time?" Hal chuckles.

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
Zinda has the autopilot on and she's sipping coffee in the cozy cockpit. Yeah, the plane almost knows the way there by now. She's flipping through a tech manual of prototype jet when the flash of green gets her attention. From outside the plane she's just a blonde with aviators and a headset.

The returned salute is full-on military, and when she keys the mic her response is from somewhere waaaay south of Atlanta.

"Well hey there! Ain't you green fellas supposed to be protectin' Earth from creepy aliens and stuff? Ah ain't outta place, though. Right on course, and just about half an hour out. Welcome to drop by, if you want."

There's a a pause, then, and the blonde asks. "Your name ain't Hal, by chance?"

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Flying beside the plane, Hal Jordan takes a moment to take it all in. Shaking his head, envious of the pilot, Hal whistles, as a WW2 vintage green head set appears on his head. Hal smiles and says, "We are indeed! I was just flying this way, when I spotted you. I thought I'd do a fly past, take a look. I never expected it to be an unbelievable antique, that can still fly!"

"Sure, I can drop by, and why would you think my name is Hal?" Hal frowns, and maintains course with the fighter. "I must admit, I am admiring your plane from a pilot's eye - she's not just any antique. Is she?" That sounds like he might know who she was.

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
Zinda laughs at the last, pushing those aviators down to show off her baby-blues. Another salute follows, with an added wink. "Keep 'em Flyin'!" she offers. "And c'mon!" Pushing the yoke forward and giving a twist, the P-61 does a smooth wing-over into a power dive.

The engines roar, and to the experienced ear they're NOT exactly stock. The co-pilot's seat is empty as well as the radio operator's. And Hal can probably guess that the guns haven't been -exactly- dummied-up and made legal either.

As the P-61 breaks the clouds there's an island up ahead. In a very unlikely place for an island to be.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Following beside the ancient fighter, and the female pilot inside, Hal allows himself a few brief moments of exhiliration. Flying always did that to him...with a nod, Hal then answers. "Right behind you!" As he banks with the fighter, he matches her speed, velocity, pitch, and yaw perfectly.

As he sees the island ahead, Hal nods. "I thought so." He says over the channel, and telepathically connects with his ring to get a confirmation. "Blackhawk Island." Hal winks at Zinda, and readies himself to land whever she directs.

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
Zinda brings the P-61 in on approach like she knows exactly where she's going, which is pretty much true. And in spite of the island's disused appearance, there's a bit of tower chatter before 'Blackhawk One' gets permission to land on approach.

The Black Widow makes a neat landing and taxis into the remains of the bombed-out hangar, where Zinda kills both engines. The ladder lowers and she climbs out, the blonde wearing a tan flight suit with a leather jacket over it. And yes, the logo on back is Blackhawk Squadron.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
Hal Jordan follows the Blackhawk into her landing, and hovers above her as she lands, and slows to a crawl. When she moves into the hanger, Hal follows, floating five feet above the ground and moving at the same speed. When Zinda disembarks, Hal lands in front of her, and drops the emerald nimbus shield that surrounds him.

"Well, that was some nice flying, in a machine that sounds, looks, and even smells incredible!" Yep, Hal was a pilot. Running his hand across her insignia, and the fusilage, Hal shakes his head. "Amazing." Turning to look at the pilot, Hal says, "Maybe you'll let me take her up sometime?"

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
"Thanks, Sugah! And lemme say you ain't the first one of you green boys Ah ever met." Now that Zinda turns towards him right up close, there's little doubt that she's the genuine article as well. "She ain't stock anymore, of course, but Ah kept the copilot and radio operator stations in original condition for the air show crowd."

The blonde extends her hand towards him, then. "Zinda Blake, and damn nice t'mee'cha. She ain't exactly got leather seats, but then again neither do Ah. Kyle tells me y'all are a pilot, too."

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"Is that right? Ah yes, now I remember. Kyle mentioned that you were chatting with him." Hal Jordan turns back to the plane, and looks her over once more. "Well, you have done an amazing job, that is for sure!" Hal whistles once again. "A beauty, indeed." Shaking his head, he puts his hands on his hips, and returns his attention back to Zinda.

Offerring his hand in return, Hal shakes it firmly, and says, "And yes, I'm Hal Jordan. Don't tell anyone, but I don't really work too hard at keeping it a secret. I'm a former fighter pilot and test pilot myself. Love to fly..." He trails off, and shrugs. "Thanks for letting me drop in."

Lady Blackhawk has posed:
"Thank Kyle Ah didn't try an' shoot you down." she replies saucily. Still smiling. "Y'all can take 'er up anytime, Hal. But Ah'll even do ya' one better. Secret for a secret, as it were. C'mon." And with that, she leads him towards the center of the former hangar. Giving a nod in the direction of the control tower, followed by a thumbs-up, Zinda offers. "This is the good bit."

The entire floor of the hangar shakes, then begins to descend slowly like a big elevator. More specifically like the elevator refitted from an aircraft carrier. And as it lowers, the room beneath looks quite modern.

Green Lantern (Jordan) has posed:
"Yes, thank Kyle indeed!" Hal laughs and says, "Might have been a tough battle, with your adavnced technology there." Hal winks, and nods. Following Zinda down to the secret base, Hal exits the elevator and whistles for the third time. "Now that is pretty interesting. Nice digs you have here. Amazing."

Hal looks around, and smiles. Then, his ring flashes. "Dammit. I got a message...an emergency. Extra-planetary." Hal sighs, and salutes Zinda in perfect military precision. Gotta run! Thank you! We'll continue the tour next time!"

Heading back up the elevator, Hal then heads out with a flash of emerald energy.
