Date of Scene: 26 April 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Crusader, Shazam, Origami

Crusader has posed:
While the Welwy Preserve is well knonw to house and protect various species of animals and fauna, the 82 acre nature ground is also home to small paleological research center, that was of course open to the public. This center was dedicated to studying ancient species found in the area, and occasional even housed fossils from various parts of the USA.
However recently, strange reports have been comming in of people getting attacked by strange unidentified creatures. Some even claiming dinosaurs, which coincided with the recent thefts of varous fossils. However, no one really believed this, untill a man turned up nearly did having some blurry footage of what attacked him. Upon seeing the evidence - the Justice League has been petition to come in and check things out...just to be on the safe side, with the center even being closed down.
And with that....Crusader, being one of the leaguers to check it out, is waiting quietly outside the research center, knowing he wasn't the only one taking up the task. Ever since the attack from the observitory...Cruader seems to have been in a particularly bad mood, but none the less the armored juggernauts stands waiting.

Shazam has posed:
Along with Crusader, Captain Marvel had volunteered to go along and investigate. There was no need to change, the Captain himself was hovering overhead, looking for signs of anything suspicious.

After a while the caped man starts to descend, landing softly. "What's going on?" He asks, looking to his comrade. "Nothing going on from the air."

Crusader has posed:
"Good Question" Crusader says as Captain Marvel comes down...well he more growls it. He looks around "One has been going through the secruity feeds in the area - and nothing has been picked up. One guess this was an inside job - as the feeds cut off at night around the time the fossiles dissappeared."
A beam of light comes from his chest and shows a holographic of the still bad footage of the attack. The creature had large teeth, but something was off...but was hard to say with the quality so bad. "All attacks that have coincided with 'dinosaurs' have so far occured at night, same time as the fossiles."
The tendrills of his 'beard' twitched in thought "Hmmm, well Captain, considering your more experinced than One, what would you do?"

Shazam has posed:
The Captain put his hand to his chin, giving a pensive frown. "Well, either it was dinosaurs, which is just ridiculous. Or it could be a bluff." Cap snaps his fingers! "Gol-ly! What if it's a burglar using a robot dinosaur?" The thought of which is a little off, if not imaginative.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore has heard.. rumors of attacks and disturbances, from a conversation with a 911 operator nearby. Obviously something that needs investigating!

Of course, she hasn't completely formed a plan of HOW to investigate.. so far, she is sitting in the folds of a paper airplane like one you might fold in a middle school classroom with an inattentive teacher, which kind of sort of not all that well blends in with the cloudy sky today, slowly floating in silence over the area in hopes of seeing anything out of place. Not... the WORST plan really, at least for starters. She sniffs at the air to see if she can pick up the distinctive scent of magic in the area.

The unfamiliar light of a hologram is eyecatching, though, so she angles in that direction for a closer look. On seeing Heroes, she gives a cheerful wave, still not close enough to really talk quite yet, though she will get there in a moment.

Crusader has posed:
"One has already faught undead zombies, demons, und space aliens. And some Justice League member use magic of all things. Are dinosaurs REALLY that ridiculouse?" Crusader says to The Captain. Heck compared to everything else, it sounds normal really. "Still...it could be a burglar using robots. But they would need to be remote controlled and putting out a signal...One has yet to come upon any such signals"
Of course, it not that hard to notice a giant flying paper airplane "Seems we have company too. Hopefully not trouble" he states bluntly. "Regardless, perhaps we might get some clues from inside the research center - see if anything else outside of the fossil storage units was messed with"
Which on that note - considering Miyako was sniffing aroun, she would indeed get a wiff of magic in the air. It was rather strong, as if it permeated the area currently.

Shazam has posed:
"Well no, but how are they coming back to life? I mean, they've been dead for millions of years." The Big Red Cheese keeps thinking. "Well what is easier to believe?" He asks with a shrug.

Then there was a gliding paper airplane approaching? "Uhh, is that...what I think it is?" He is definitely taken aback, but not showing any aggression towards the strange object.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore swoops down slowly. The airplane suddenly shrinks to normal, notebook paper size, and she snatches it out of the air, crunches it into a ball, and lightly tosses it into a nearby trash can, taking a couple of steps to finish bringing herself to a stop. "Hiya! Origami here! Um, are you looking for dinosaurs too? This whole place smells like magic to me, but I haven't seen anything.. I just started looking.

Crusader has posed:
Crusader grunts "Both are equalally possible, untill such evidence proves otheriwse. And considering earths level of technology - One money is on fossils comming to life" as the woman lands Crusader grunts "Origami, this is Captain Marvel" he gestures the Captain, but doesn't bother introducing himself. He gives pause "Well, now them comming to life is even more plausible"
"Yes, we are looking for dinosaurs. We have not yet found anything ourselves. But we were about to check inside. Perhaps see if there were any clues" he turns and opens the door to the center.

Shazam has posed:
The Captain is all smiles as Origami does their stuff. "Heya!" He offers, along with a hand in greeting. "Oh, umm, that might be me with the magic." He posits, before he follows inside. "We we're trying to figure out what is going on with things here."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods brightly and falls in behind Crusader, lightly shaking Captain Marvel's fingers with a mangled hand that looks like it was melted like wax at some point. The handshake lingers a moment longer than it might necessarily be polite to, as she gets a read on the magic there. She reaches one hand into her messenger bag and produces a single sheet of square paper, which she holds lightly in her other massively scarred hand.

She leans in a little and sniffs at the air, trying to pick out the difference, and hmms, then chews her lip in thought, trying to figure out if Marvel is, in fact, the source of the magic permeating the area.

Her head tilts as she looks through the doorway. "That makes sense. Which one of you has command right now? And do you want me to set any alarms or anything? Screamer for anything taller than, say, eight feet maybe? I'm not sure we know what each other does."

Crusader has posed:
"Neither of us are" Crusader says simply. "Though Captain Marvel here is the senior Leaguer" he says simply. The armored juggernaut didn't much seem to care about a command structure at the moment, it was but a simple investigation to him into the unknown.

Miyako would smell that there was a much lighter and weaker magic present aside from Captain Marvel. It would almost seem in a way hidden, able to blend in with other sources of magic, much like an animal in camoflouge - only detectable by such careful looking

The inside of the facility was large and well lighted. One can imagine it was like a small science muesame - with the entire place being dedicated to various beings. From the 9ft tall skeleton of a Giant Sloth, to a display of chicken sized bipedal lizards arranged in a flock. Various athropods like dragon flies, or fish were also seen, preserved in their rocky formations

And for the moment all seemed normal. The fossils in their cases, the lights on illuminating the place as one would expect. Just devoid of visitors due to the situation. Gave it a short of empty...eerie sensation. "How about you set it for anything that looks like a lizard larger than a dog. Dinosaurcs came in all shape and sizes after all, but most were primarily lizards"

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore hmms. "Lizard... So like, with a tail? I can do that." She quickly tears the paper into strips with inhuman swiftness and precision, and starts folding them into a small paper flower like a mushroom. She sets it on the floor as it starts turning cartoonishly red and green, and it's tiny base sprouts and spreads roots across the floor nearby.

"...No, it's not you.. You're.. Strong, but there's something else all around. It's like how.. bookstores have a smell. You don't smell like the bookstore."

Shazam has posed:
Captain Marvel had simply given a smile, and a little bit of a contented sigh. "Well, I'm glad I don't smell like a bookstore. I take a shower every day."

Cap continues to walk, taking in the skeleton of the giant sloth with some interest. "Other than seeing you come in on a paper airplane, I have no idea what you can do." He comments, no sarcasm, just stating a fact. "I umm, do a lot."

Crusader has posed:
"Is there such thing as a tailess lizard?" Crusader asks back, clearly a retorical question as all lizards have tails. He rolls his shoulder and looks as Miyako begins to work her paper magic. Magic was definintly an odd one "Alright, lets spread out. Look for any sort of clue that can give us a hint of what to do. One will take the left wing." And with that Crusader indeeds heads for the left wing, leaving the other up to their own devices of where to go or how to go about things

The giant sloth skeleton gives the eeriest sensation that it is stareing right back at Captain Marvel. Sure it didn't move, didn't blink, it was just a display after all. But with how the building was - all the displays gave off some sence of creepiness.
But none the less, with the screaming growing and flourising to act as their alarm, they at the very least would know if there was any lizard like trouble to be had.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore hmmms some. "Well... I'm going to follow you. I can make walls and animated bears and stuff like that mostly."

She peers at the sloth warily, reaching in her messenger bag for some prescription hand cream that she rubs into her hands slowly. Just in case, she immediately pulls a sheet of paper out and holds it in her hand, a bit creeped out. "This place is making me nervous." She bites her lip a bit and peers back and forth.

Shazam has posed:
Cap looked at the Sloth with some scrutiny. "This...is like an episode of Scooby Doo. Paintings that look back at you and creepy stuff." The tall man simply shrugged, and kept searching through the opposite wing.

There wasn't much for Shazam to do other than keeping an eye out for anything suspicious, which he did with a keen eye.

Crusader has posed:
As Captain and Marvel searched the wing - nothing really seemed to happen, at first. It was simply a quiet, oppressive silence, with ony thier own conversation to break the still air. This state of stillness was so quiet, that the slightest break from it was notcible, from the calling of a crow outside, to the rustle of wind agaist the glass (as it was an old building)
An old building whose lights began to flicker and dim, as the sound of scurrying happening in vents happens above them. The lights completly shut off - but it was plenty bright enough to see considering the time of day. But the scurrying sound didn't quite stop. A pest problem perhaps
However, with those unsual phenomon out of the way - there were several things wrong with the wing they where in. On the ground nearby a fossalized cephelopod, appeared to be a raptors claw. A possible misplacement, except there was more. Near a chart of time was the wing of a peterodactyle, laying agaist the wall as if abandon. And on some of the displaces cases, or furniture, one is able to see large claw marks. That judging by the looks of it, were fairly fresh compared to everything else.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods vigorously and tags along quietly. "Oh, pooh. Now you've done it. You've got that mental image stuck in my head. I'm going to be looking cross eyed at pictures all week." She stops as the lights go off, quickly folds a small star shaped flower and drops it. The flower starts growing and sprouting roots and begins glowing with a warm blue light.

As the light starts to come back, she looks around and points at one of the claw marks. "Jinkies! I wonder what made THAT?" Another sheet of paper slips into her fingers as she starts mentally cataloging the places where exhibit STANDS are versus the actual EXHIBITS.

Shazam has posed:
Cap runs a large hand over the claw marks. "Well, my guess isn't a tabby cat." He says, rearing back and looking around again, then to the raptor claw. "I've seen this in a movie once...it doesn't end well." He comments again, now on the defensive, checking every nook and cranny he can for more out of place objects.

Crusader has posed:
Miyako list of exhibit stands verses actual exhibits would be quite short. There were no exhibit stands out of place. There were simply fossils themselves out of place. The light of her flower, help cast an even eerior glow onto the fossils.
By now, fossiles are being found left and right! A femur here, skull there, a tail...placed inside an exhibit. There were quite litterly fossils everywhere, where their shouldn't be fossils! And the scurrying sound suddenly stops cold...
Of course they might be the least of their worries. It rings out sharply - an ear splitting "aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh" from the main room they came from
And the moment Miyako and Cap turn around - they would be faced to face with the giant sloth skeleton! It was still posed the same way - was still in its stand and wasn't moving. But had somehow moved silently over 20 feet towards them without the screamer having gone off

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore shrieks!

She holds the sheet of paper up.. then notices that the sloth isn't actually moving.

She creases and folds the paper in her hand several times, then immediately replaces the paper in her fingers with a fresh sheet. The figurine expands and grows into a brown folded paper dog shaped origami figurine about the size of a brown hound mastiff. The origami Scooby-dog falls in next to her, sniffing, wagging its tail, and looking around defensively without any real comprehension.

Meekly, she calls out, "...Crusader? Was that you?"

Shazam has posed:
Cap studies the claw. "You think that they could really be dinosaurs res-HOLY MOLY!" The moving sloth accompanied by the scream had the Captain on edge. "Okay, is there any way that makes sense for that sloth moving without your...screamer having gone off?" The addition of the Scooby only has Billy give a chuckle. He's seen scarier, but if asked, he would admit he was a little offput by what's been going on.

Crusader has posed:
There no answer from Crusader. And the screamer continus it by now obnoxiouse screaming. The giant sloth skeleton stares at them. And this time, it was accompanied by the extreamly uncomfortable feeling of eyes watching them.
Infact, it began to feel like multiple eyes were watching them as if each fossil was somehow stareing at them.
This unnerving watched sensation is interuppted by a "Tap tap tap" silence "Tap tap tap" silence once more. With no explanation for where the tap was comming from.
By a new sound accompanied the tapping. A rattle, a stumble, the clang of bones on metal. The ear splitting screetch of nail (well claw) on chalk...

Becasue now, all those bones Cap was finding and Miyako was catalogging, were moving. Rolling or crawling along the ground. If one were to watch the trail of bones, they would observe them comming togeather...to make a skeletal raptor.

The claws tappity tap again as it moves its unhinged jaw...before somehow emitting a hellish shriek! With unnatural speed it lunges and jumps towards Cap and Miyako.

Shazam has posed:
Cap's eyes widen as he hears the tapping, and he stands in front of the raptor. It would be very rare that the dinosaur would be able to do more damage to him than vice versa. A pair of gauntleted hands reach up to the raptor and a punch lunges to the skeleton with matched speed.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore uhms.. "No tail, not a lizard. But I don't know how it moved like that. Teleported maybe?"

Then a flash of movement catches her eyes. "Incoming!" With ridiculous speed, she starts creasing and folding, taking two steps back to stand behind the paper Scooby.

She tosses the figurine up in the air and it unfurls wings and screeches. A paper crane.. er.. pterodactyl in this case, like a mad construction paper stop action dinosaur. The pterodactyl swoops around and starts grabbing at the bones and pecking at the raptor opposite Billy.

The paper Scooby just sits there, apparently not having triggered because of Billy's proactive defense.

Crusader has posed:
The Raptor is punched by the amazing Shazam, the bones clattering to the ground! The ptrerodactyle is able to pick up and carry some bones off. But it is of little help in the end. The "tap tap tap" sound comes again, and the Raptor comes togeather again. It bone like tail slash across the air to the paper figurine annoying it - with enough speed...and surprising sharpness to cut paper...if that paper isn't more durable than normal paper

And that Megasloth that seemed to not move at all? It decides to join in! Silently, despite it size, it raises a massive bone hand that swipes down at Miyako.

And the constant sound of bones running through the vents is heard. Crusader calls out "What is goi....AAAAARGH!!!!" and the juggernauts voice is cut off silenced evidently.

Shazam has posed:
"Holy moly!" Is exclaimed, taking a jump back as the skeleton starts to reform. "Okay, pounding them won't work it seems!"

The heir of Shazam regroups with Miyako. "We have to take out what is animating them. Can you detect that kinda thing?" Before he can do much else, Crusader's voice rings and cuts out. "Scratch that, Crusader needs help!" He offers his hand to Miyako so he can bring her with him as he runs with his super speed.

Origami has posed:
The figurine is in fact tougher than ordinary paper! But it does look pretty banged up by that slash, and is knocked back a ways, having to limp back toward the raptor.

The Scooby figurine leaps up into the Megasloth, getting tangled up in the claws, sacrificing itself to protect it's mistress!

Miyako Moore backs from the sloth and crumples a sheet of paper into a ball, then throws it at the sloth! It grows in the air, turning greyer and bounces off the ground, rumbling like the Indy Jones style boulder it is! "Suck it, slothy!" She is already slipping her hand into her bag, retrieving another sheet of paper; she reaches her other scarred hand to be grabbed, not quite sure what he has in mind.

Crusader has posed:
The sloth tangos with the Scooby figurine with quite the force. Distracted long enough to be splintered to pieces from the Paper Boulder Throw from Miyako! But like the raptor, the sloth readily puts itself back togeather

The Raptor looses interest in the limping paper dinosaur and let out a shriek towards Shazam as he grabs Miyako to get running! ANd that when a new trick is pulled out. The sloth and Raptor swap their legs and heads....and soon a MegaRaptor is chasing after Billy. It speed was far faster than an ordinary Raptor thats for sure if it can keep up with Billy...well almost. It was nipping at Miyako heels!

And that when the shriekers fianlly go off. In front of Billy other animited skeletons appear. ANother two raptors...and dozens of small bird skeletons. They all shriek togeather and charge towards Shazam!

And the force was growing too. That "Tap Tap Tap" sound, that skittering in the vents...it was pouring out. The walls, the floor, it was all being enclosed within a tunnel of Bones intent on stopping them! But from what?

As Miyako might sense...a Dark Ritual was begining to take place somewhere in this facility. The magic was powerful enough to be sensed easily...as if someone has gotten the last component for whatever fiendish deed was being done!

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore crinkles her nose. "There's a big ritual going on in here somewhere. It's just sort of everywhere. Maybe I can tell where when I get closer?" She wraps her arms around Billy, not really able to fold anything with her hands occupied like this. "Whatever it is, we need to stop it now!"

She grinds her teeth a bit. "I can't make anything like this - it's right behind us!"

Shazam has posed:
Doing all he can to race for where Crusader had gone, Captain Marvel stopped suddenly, turning around swiftly and giving the raptor a big sock on the jaw! "I'll fight them off, you focus on finding whatever it is that's going on!" He quips, her detection abilities seem more acute than his in this instance.

Crusader has posed:
When Billy stops running - the bones start closing! Both sides of the tunnel are closed off, with any sharp bones possible. Limbs are formed grasping and tearing at our heros.

The MegaRaptor is smashed apart again, but instead of reforming directly, it merges with the formed bone tunnel. Limbs were trying to grasp at Shazam, to bring him down beneath the bones. ANd likewise the limbs where snatching at Miyako wanting to drag her down as well

At this point direction in the normal sense is impossible to tell. However as it happens, considering how Shazam was running - they had evidently gotten close to the ritual site. It was BELOW them!

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore folds quickly, kicking hands away. She tosses it up - a paper box, which balloons out, turning metally and marked by crayon rivets before dropping on us both. CLANG!

She snaps out a quick, "Down!" and rips out another sheet of paper from her messenger bag, clearly having trouble fighting off the arms below. Billy might be super tough and strong, but the same can't be said of the mage girl..

Shazam has posed:
With the Strength Of Hercules, Billy keeps punching and kicking at the limbs, trying to keep them at bay from Miyako. The lightning on his chest keep crackling as he strikes faster and faster with the speed of Mercury combined with the strength of Hercules. "I've got you, keep going!"

Crusader has posed:
The heavy box that drops onto Miyako and Shazam helps to shield them from the onsalught of grasping attacking limbs! The speed and tenacity that Shazam punches with scatters many of the bones that were attacking them, leaving the number of attacking limbs in the box relatively low and not too hard to deal with.
The limbs and arms bang agaist the furiously trying to get to the occupants. Limbs try to lift the box, but the weight made it difficult and was buying the duo time at least

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore furrows her brow, then reaches into the bag and digs out a few more sheets of paper. She starts tearing and folding and twisting, fingers almost blurring in a frenzy of activity as a shape forms in her hands. She twists the antennae and bends them rakishly, then holds out her hands. It grows, stepping down to the floor, and starts digging downward through the floor - a giant, black, paper ant. "It's under us! Going down!" Another sheet of paper finds its way between her fingers as she dodges the few hands.

Shazam has posed:
Billy keeps on his attacks, trying to make sure Miyako is safe as she folds. "No worries, I can keep this up all day, oh hey, nice ant!" He responds, making sure to keep up with the construct, and the mage.

Crusader has posed:
With Billies continue attacked Miyako and by extentions, her paper ant wee able to work in piece. With the tunnel forming beneath them, they get father and father away from the bones. With whatever bones that were attacking them getting lodged within crevies of the forming tunnel. And it seems that at some point they far enough away that the bones stop. That or the box was really doing a number on them

Eventually the tunnel breaks into the cieling of a large room, setting the heros falling downwards unless they act quickly or otherwise.

The room itself looked like an undeground cavern. Torches lit up the rocky exterior as blood made symbols are painted around the cavern...and around a bone shrine that glowed a sickly green. And in front of it was a man so to speak

It might take a moment, but his general shape was that of Crusader, his cloak, and armour matched. Except now it looked like bones were weaved into his armor, and his cloak now tattered. The eyes also glowed sickly green like the shrine. A bone-feather staff in his hand glowed menaicngly as he snarls in a voice a mix of Crusaders and someone else "Be gone from this place!" he raises the staff this time raising human like skeletons with armors. It seems the ritual was near completion and it has now just been disturbed.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore lets the wings of the notebook paper airplane unfurl around her, floating around the room seated within. "Oh, that CAN'T be good!" She folds up a paper crane that starts flying next to her, keeping guard. "We need to wreck this! Any ideas how?"

She circles, pulling another sheet of paper out. "I'm following your lead here!" She examines the room, trying to decide how to deal with that shrine and pick out likely defenses.

Shazam has posed:
Billy is able to stop midair, hovering above the area as he watches the skeletons rise from the ground. "Oh jeez." He says, looking back at the mage. "Okay, it's a...necromancer. Where's Zatana when we need her?" He descends to the floor in front of the Crusader. "Why are you doing this? Where is Crusader?" He asks, opting to try and possibly deal with the threat without fists.

Crusader has posed:
A wave of the staff and spearsof bones were being hurled at Miyako as she flies overhead, after all, she made it quite clear she intended to stop this as compared to say Billy, who seemed to want to know infomation. "Be gone child, you know not what you deal with!"

The armored Juggernaut looks to Billy and grins "Tsk, tsk. Can't recognizing yer own friend? Now thats a shame." before grinning "As for why...Powerof course. And your friend proved to a treasure trove of it."
