The Legion: 21st Century Chapter
Date of Scene: 10 April 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Laurel and Lar discuss expanding the Legion's roster.
Cast of Characters: Mon-El, Andromeda

Mon-El has posed:
Lar is sitting in front of one of the comms terminals on the bridge of the Legion cruiser, sifting through various news reports at the same time as keeping an eye on every frequency monitored by the system as the craft makes its periodic sensor sweeps of the Earth below every few seconds or so. He frowns, focused on...something. Or likely multiple things.

Andromeda has posed:
Laurel is entering quietly, though Lar hears her as always. She is in and out, taking care of business for the Legion and herself at a frenzying pace. The woman is always busy; less because she isn't fast enough and more because the world isn't fast enough. Waiting in line takes an hour whether you can run from that line to Tibet and bck in that time or not.

The taller Daxamite approaches with slow strides. "Hello, Lar. How are you feeling?" The quesiton is asked softly, Laurel pursing her lips slgihtly as she does. "Did you find anything interesting so far?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Laurel." Lar looks up when Laurel approaches, smiling warmly. "I've been wanting to talk to you." He pulls away from the console and swivels around in his seat to face her. "I see you've been keeping busy."

"I think I may have found someone who will help us keep the White Triangle under control." he continues. "I do remember where they came from, now. I mean, without reading the logs." he chuckles. A slight pause. "Laurel, I think with much of the team away on engagements in other parts of the galaxy and/or um, time-space, we should think about expanding our roster. At least for 2814 and neighboring sectors."

Andromeda has posed:
"I have to agree," Laurel replies slowly. "With the cruiser essentially unstaffed half the time we don't have enough bodies to cover 2814 by itself. I can't be in multiple places simultaneously even if I can get there quickly 'enough'. It's impossible to police eveyrone." She shakes her head sharply in a wild flow of golden tresses and then takes a deep breath.

"The real quesiton is who we should start with. Earth seems to have a varieyt of suitable candidates... But are they *actually* suitable?" Laurel purses her lps for a moment. "You know what this means. I think Lyle would have a heart attack if he heard me say it, but... I think we need to hold tryouts."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar nods. "Well, it's been the traditional Legion way for a long time when it comes to recruitment. And it works." he says with a smile. "Not everyone is comfortable or well-suited to leaving this planet, though. So I suggest we divide any applicants into Earth operations and...well, everything else."

He chuckles at the mention of Lyle. "If that's the case, then he's already had several heart attacks. He'll live. Besides, I think we can handle it for the most part. He turns back to the terminal and digs up the most recent Legion application form. "Anything you think we should change?"

Andromeda has posed:
"We should probably screen for allergies," Laurel replies rather thoughtfully. "Even I have no idea whether or not we use latex on the cruiser." There's a sort of wry smile toollow that and then Laurel shrugs her shoulders slowly.

"I think the bases are largely covered with the standard form. Is there anything important missing that you can think of at the moment?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Latex allergies, right." Lar laughs. "I'll make a note of that." He reviews the application for a moment. "Yeah, this should be okay, I'll just add a question about which division they'd prefer or whether they want to travel to space or not." he says, inputting a few notes on the console then save it away.

Then he turns back around and stands up beside his niece. "Oh, and Laurel...I remember you now. I mean, not just recent events. Everything." he puts a hand on her shoulder, looking almost sad for a moment. "I'm sorry, it must have been devastating to learn I didn't even remember knowing you."

Andromeda has posed:
Laurel breathes a soft sigh but then she nods. She places a hand over Lar's and fixes him with a brief , genuine smile. "I'm glad I was able to help you out almost as much as you've helped me." Then she turns slightly and glances at the console. "That sounds like it will be an interesting change. We'll have to alter the charter." She frowns faintly. "Breaking with tradition is unfortunate, but as long as we get quality candidates..."

It seems actual discussion of Lar's memory loss may have to wait if Laurel gets a say.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar squeezes her shoulder reassuringly then pulls away. "Yes, thank you for that. You were...very patient with me." he says, smirking at the memory of how awkward he was not knowing anything about Earth. "It must have been frustrating for you, almost as much as it was for me. But I'm glad we got through it."

He shrugs. "It shouldn't be too much of a deviation from how we usually do things, just a slight reorganization of the roster, that's all. It'll just be like having a special unit just for Earth operations. After all there's not for lack of things to do here." he winks.

Andromeda has posed:
"A lack of thing sto do..." Laurel makes a face."Remind me to somehow become even faster so that I can effectively stop two incidents at once so that I can even begin to address that." Laurel shakes her head again but she's smiling and nos firmly once Lar has said his piece.

"It won't be much of a charter update," Laurel muses then, tilting herh ead slightly as she does. "When do you plan to start the tryouts then?"

Mon-El has posed:
"Pff, look I know you're a perfectionist Laurel but we're already among the fastest beings in the galaxy and maybe even the universe." Lar points out. "Try not to push yourself too hard, all right?"

"As for the tryouts..." he trails off for a moment, looking pensive. "Let's just put out advertisements and see who bites. Then we'll see what kinds of tryout sessions we can schedule. Sound good?"

Andromeda has posed:
"Alright. Advertisements..." Laurel nods once, slowly. "I guess we can do posters, flyers, internet word of mouth....?" She frowns for a second then, toeing the floor. "It isn't like there's much that can go wrong we can't fix..."

Mon-El has posed:
"Yep, we can post on all the usual channels..." Lar sits back down at the terminal and searches through some of the ads had been used by the team in previous recruitment drives. "Hmm. Let's see. Not relevant to the time period. Won't work with the firmware on Earth at present....hey, this one's plain enough." He brings up one of the simpler graphics. It reads:

Andromeda has posed:
Laurel scans the ad over briefly and then gives a faint nod. "It looks good. ...Don't forget the latex allergies."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar laughs. "Right, right. I'll have to ask them about it when they come for the tryout." He files the ad away to get it sent out later.

"Oh you know I'm sorry I compared your brownies to poop that one day. I really didn't mean to say it like that. It was just the first thing that came into my mind, not knowing any better." he chuckles. "They were actually delicious."

Andromeda has posed:
"Yes, I know," Laurel replies, laughing softly as she does. "I understand, I promise. I got over it right then, realy. I just... Was finally finding out what it was like to have a younger brother, I guess. More trouble than I imagined." She turns then, tracing a circle against the floor as she twists her body. She isn't looking at Lar as she asks, "Do we have another entry on the agenda?"

Mon-El has posed:
"A younger brother?" Lar repeats, then chuckles. "Oh, you're right, I guess I am younger than you, technically. Even though you were born a thousand years later. It makes total sense."

"Well, there wasn't really an agenda to begin with, to be honest." he admits. "I...you should go visit Drake sometime. He misses you. And I think he's mad at me so he could probably use someone to talk to right now."

Andromeda has posed:
"Alright," Laurel agrees. "I'll speak to him after we're done here. Why... Why is he mad at you?" Laurel forwns then looks back over her shoulder at Lar as she nods. "And it wasn't- physically younger. Not just. You were acting like a pubescent boy. It was really quite aggravating." At least she's smiling right now. Water under the bridge. Mostly.

Mon-El has posed:
"I know, I know okay?" Lar laughs, shaking his head, still chuckling. "Heh, you thought you were aggravated? It was like being a child again, except a child who can send things into orbit with a single punch. The memories I did have of Daxam were...all jumbled. I remembered the day Krypton died, but I also remembered being 12 as if it were yesterday. Very confusing."

Then he sighs at the question about Drake. "He...doesn't agree with my decision to break up with Kara. But I have to. It's too risky. It could lead to war with Daxam. I don't want to cause a conflict that could result in my friends and/or family getting hurt or worse."

Andromeda has posed:
"It can't have been easy for you," Laurel responds without really indicating which thing Lar said she is actually referring to. Shesighs again and then squints slightly, looking toward the door. "I'm sorry, Lar. But for what it's worth I am glad to have you back."
