Cast of Characters: Daredevil, Echo

Daredevil has posed:
Most of the week's case load had been managed but Matt was in on the weekend to take care of the legal work for Claire's clinic. Contract law was far from Matt's specialty so he had his books cracked and running his fingers over the pages pausing here and there to note things down on his specialized laptop. Dull work really and as much as he needed to get it done, the office was open for business and he was almost hoping for a walk-in to give him a reprieve.

So far none had appeared, so Matt, flips his book closed and stands, stretching, before he grabs his cane and makes his way to the little office kitchen to make himself a cup of coffee.

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez knocks soundly on the lil door as she comes into the office foyer, looking around for anyone to help her. Her puts a hand on her hip apprehensively, as if considering this office, her eyes constantly scanning, looking over the floor, the desks, the chairs, "Anyone home?" she wonders. She raises her chin and waits for someone, because she doesn't know Matt has left the room to get coffee.

Daredevil has posed:
Matt senses Maya coming before the knock on the door so he hurries to pour his coffee then makes his way out to the office as she calls to see if anyone is here. "Hi," he says stepping into the office cane in one hand the coffee in the other. "Someone's home, how can I help you, Ms..?" he says offering a space for Maya to offer the name.

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez finally smiles as Matt comes back to the office like a hero and then replies, "Lopez. Maya Lopez. Sorry I would have called first but I'm deaf. Still mastering the phone," she jokes. She pauses a moment but keeps watching him so as to not miss a reply, "I was in need of some legal advice."

Daredevil has posed:
Matt offers a smile, "I can understand the difficulty, nineteen years on, I still have trouble finding the buttons," he says before asking, "Am I turned the right way to for you to see my lips?" he asks. "And well, you've come to the right place for the advice, if you'd like we can step into my office and see what Nelson and Murdock can do to assist you."

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez walks toward Matt's office, "Yes, you're fine," she tells him pleasantly and walks into the office, "Yes, I think I'm going to need a lawyer after this dangerous vigilante is caught and charged. You see, I'm kinda involved in the case. It's my father. This guy killed my father," she tells him and looks more sad, maybe determined and upset as she frowns, thinking over the whole thing, "I'd like to know if these charges will stick when the guy's caught. I heard these vigilante guys get around the rules."

Daredevil has posed:
Matt follows Maya into the office, knowing the route by heart, once inside he sets down the cane in the corner and returns to his desk and puts down his coffee. "Hrm," he says. "My condolences," he says with earnest sympathy as he sits down in his chair. "And I'm happy to help where I can, but making charges stick is more the purview of the police and the district attorney's office, but tell me what happened maybe I can help."

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez nods absently, "Thanks," she says to his words of condolence. She then hrms, "Oh right," she acknowledges, "I guess I haven't thought this through. I'm probably going to have to testify right?" she asks him. "Because I was sent this evidence in the mail. A video tape was in this envelope. I opened it and I watched it. It was some surveillence video of this...masked vigilante stealing my father's gun. The gun he was shot with!" she lets out and then calms down suddenly, "Sorry."

Daredevil has posed:
"It's alright, Ms. Lopez, you can yell as much as you like, your father's dead, no one expects you to be calm about it." Least of all Matt. "Oh, and I'm Matt Murdock by the way, I forgot to introduce myself," he says as much to give Maya a second or two of space before he carries on. "Not sure if you'll need to testify to much more than where you got the tape and what you saw when you played it, the rest of the details I'm sure would be covered by the tape itself. So, if you don't mind, I'd like to ask a few more questions," he prompts before he pushes on, letting her answer, or not, as she wishes. "First, when did you get the tape, second, did you know who sent it and third, have you told the police any of this yet?"

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez nods to what Matt says and then glances at the desk quietly, "Alright," she replies to him. She looks up again and adds, "I got in the mail about two days ago. Regular mail. This manilla envelope addressed to me. I'm not sure who sent it. It was just surveillence video of this vigilante and that's it. Police? No I haven't told the police. Should I?" she asks him.

Daredevil has posed:
Matt nods quietly when she answers the questions. "Hm, so sent to you anonymously two days ago, " he says. "Well, if you want any charges to stick, then I'd definitely give the tape to the police, I know someone at the 15th Precinct that I trust and I can give them a call on your behalf if you like and go with you when you turn over the tape, they'll want to take a statement from you."

"And just out of curiosity, this man who killed your father? How did you know he was a vigilante?" he asks.

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez nods to what Matt says and looks a little more confident as she says, "Alright, I'll give it to them. Go with me? Well I guess I could use the help," she tells him. She frowns at Matt for a moment as he asks her some more questions and looks like she's upate at the answer. "Because I saw him in the paper. They described him. It's the same guy. The same guy from the paper is on the video tape. Daredevil! He killed my father!" she lets out and then looks like she might lose it. She covers her eyes sadly.

Daredevil has posed:
"It couldn't hurt to have someone who knows the system along with you," Matt says calmly. "And I'll do it free of charge." He was sure Foggy was groaning somewhere just knowing Matt was doing more free work.

Though when Maya has another outburst and names Matt's alter-ego as her father's killer he blinks, "What?" he blurts out. "That's impossible. The Daredevil doesn't kill."

There's a pause as Matt gets his bearings. "I mean, that's what I've heard, Hell's Kitchen is sort of his turf, and out of all the people he's stopped, I haven't heard of him killing anyone. Are you /sure/ he's the man on the tape?"

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez wipes her eyes and misses some of what Matt says, but does catch his disbelief about Daredevil, "How would you know?" she say with a smirk, disbelieving him too. She then sighs and waves her hand as she says, "I'm sorry. Yes, I mean---it's him. It's the guy with the horns and stuff. Costume. Yeah, it's him on the tape. What? His turf? Really? What else do you know about him?" she asks like she's plotting against him.

Daredevil has posed:
"Well, it's not like I know the guy personally, but, I've met dozens of people he's helped in Hell's Kitchen, heck, one of them even works here, and the sense I get from all these stories is that the Daredevil, for all his faults is a good man, not a killer," Matt explains with quiet conviction to his words.

Matt frowns at Maya's tone, that seemed to promise trouble, "Well, his other name is the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, so the association is pretty plain. Anyhow, I presume to know what you're thinking, Ms. Lopez, but if you're after justice, it's best left to the police."

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez purses her lips after he calls her Ms. Lopez, "Okay," she says agreeably, "Don't worry," she adds. "We can go to the police on Monday. You're open on Monday right?" she asks him.

Daredevil has posed:
Matt gives her a nod, "We're open Monday," he says. "Come by at say, ten and we'll go to the precinct and surrender the tape to them and let them get to the bottom of this," he says. "Though if you want to leave the tape with me in the meantime I can make sure it stays safe." It was a bit of a risk asking for the thing, but he wanted a chance to look at it before it went to the police and it was out of his hands for good.

Echo has posed:
Maya Lopez gets the tape and puts it on Matt's professional-looking desk, "Just hold on to it," she tells him, "There's not a lot of people who know where I live, but...I guess they could find out. Who knows," she says and looks at the tape, "Hang on to it. It's all the evidence I have of Daredevil killing my father," she tells him.

Daredevil has posed:
Well if this is a set up, it's a damn good one. Matt's may bend the rules to bring people to justice, but he's not willing to destroy evidence, at least, not evidence against himself. "We have a secure cabinet in the office, it'll be safe in there until Monday morning," he promises. "I still don't think Daredevil is a killer, but your father, deserves justice, Ms. Lopez and I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he gets it."
