Going for a Dive
Date of Scene: 24 April 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Nuala Duvall, Aquaman, Green Lantern (Cruz)

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Rain pours above the ocean as the Sea Song zips through the onrushing downpour. Monstrous waves stretch for the sky, but are still of little concern to the advanced Halal interceptor. Onboard, she sits at the controls, sipping a mug of coffee casually, watching the streaks of water peel back from the front screen. Through the clouds, the meteorite pierces with it's yellow glow, streaming smoke as it plunges into the ocean below.
"There it is," she comments in Xandarian. She taps the controls, and the interceptor dives straight after it, plunging beneath the waves of the Atlantic.
"Recalibrating for sub-marinal settings," Timmy, the ships A.I. announces as Nuala braces for the impact. Her coffee spills a litte onto the controls. "Blast," she says, taking another sip as she adjusts for the change in orientation. Lights come on in the ship, and deep into the heart of the ocean it goes, screen tracking the path of the meteorite.

Aquaman has posed:
A meteorite landed in Atlantean territory, as such, the King of Atlantis himself, King Orin II.

Dressed in his fine armor with the Trident of Poseidon himself in hand, he watches as Atlantean soldiers swim through the waters, investigating the meteor. Mera was not present, nor was Aqualad.

He does manage to speak in Atlantean though. "Send the science division to watch and look at this....I can feel a sinister presence about it." his soldiers nod and leave to do as they are told. As it stands, the Atlantean king is at an uneasy pace....which is only multiplied as he sees the ship coming from a distance, and he turns to face it, narrowing his eyes as a possible enemy approaches.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
The ship is not stealthed, in fact, bright lights light up the path in front of it, and Nuala finishes her coffee, placing the mug down. The life forms of the Atlanteans hit her sensors. "Timmy, can you scan that?" she asks. "Those seem to be humanoid. What would humans be doing in the depths of the ocean?" She taps the screen, enlarging the image and throwing it up onto the holographic display. She frowns at the collection.
"Should we divert our course?" Timmy asks.
"No, if that is real, it's too late now, and we need to investigate that meteorite. There were dangerous readings on it. Could be a Pholan Worm. They would grow like mad in the ocean at the rate they absorb water."
The ship maintains course, chasing the large rock down to the floor of the ocean. "Okay, I'm going to go check it out," she announces, walking to the armory and stepping into the shell suit. "Keep the weapons hot."

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman watches as the ship seems to clearly have weapons on it. "Atlanteans! defensive positions!" he calls to his soldiers, who easily use the underwater terrain as cover as if it were their second skin. Clearly, these are advanced warriors and not your run of the mill people. the King himself? He stands right in the path of the meteor, watching Nuala come out in her suit.

He grips his Trident a little bit tighter, though he does call out in standard english, in case this was an earth vessel. "You come into the territory and land of Atlantis. State your intentions or we will be forced to retaliate. I am King Orin. These are my oceans you travel through."

Very defensive it seems.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala pauses as she approaches the rear of the ship, and then rushes back forward to look at the announcer. "Who...?" she knits her brow. "He has no suit on. Scan him, Timmy."
While Timmy performs the scan, Nuala opens the channel to the speaker on the outside of the ship. "I am here peacefully," she announces. "I do not mean to intrude, there is an outside entry to these oceans, I am here to see that it is safe." The voice has a distinct accent, but not one that matches any earth accent.
Timmy brings up the results, and Nuala studies them briefly. "Intriguing. She moves back to the rear of the ship, and the forcefield activates before she lowers the ramp, wading into the water and out into the sea.
Her suit looks nothing short of a well dressed weapon. It is strong, and a purple hue glows from it on individual points. It isn't made for swimming, though, and as she steps off the ramp, she sinks straight down to land in the sand on the floor of the ocean. She holds her hands up in a sign of non-aggression. "My name is Nuala Duvall," she announces. The suit is large, standing almost 9 feet tall.

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman watches onward as he sees Nuala stride out of her ship wearing a body suit. Though he sees that this may be a waste trying to talk through, he will allow this for now at the very least. He looks this person up and down, looking at her then.

"Welcome to Atlantis, Nuala Duvall. State your intent." he's not messing around apparently...after all, she's wearing a strange suit that he's certainly never seen before -of the likes- of which he's -also- never seen before. Truly a curious situation. However way you put it.

Nevertheless, he watches her. "You are not of earth, are you?"

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala shakes her head inside the suit. "Well, no and yes. It is of being a long story," she confesses. "What I wear is not," she confesses. "I followed the course of a meteorite which has landed here in the ocean. I believe that it is danger." She points at the cloud raising from the location that the smoldering rock lay, the cloudy smoke billowing out and creating a visually impenatrable layer which hides it. "I ask that you let me do what I can to protect you." She clearly has no idea who she is talking to.

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman looks directly at Nuala as she apparently seems concerned for his personal safety. He's fought gods and men, mind you. either way, he offers her a small chuckle. "Clearly, you have not the slightest clue of who you speak to. But I appreciate the concern. If you believe this rock is a danger, I will permit you to dispose of it as you see fit so long as it does not endanger Atlantis or it's inhabitants."

He lifts a hand then, and the small battalion of Atlantean soldiers and scientists exit their cover, revealing their number.

It's a good thing Nuala wasn't trying to pick a fight. ESPECIALLY when it's against Atlanteans on their home turf. "How is this meteor a curse?" he asks curiously.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala seems to be unaffected by the revelation of the other soldiers, as if she may have known they were there. The wonders of space tech. "It is not the meteor, it is what may be on it. A small worm called a Phalon worm. They are normally harmless," she says, holding up her fingers to indicate something an inch long. "However, they respond to water in a rather...extreme fashion." She starts to step forward, a little sluggish in the water as her feet stir up sand with each step toward the meteorite.

Aquaman has posed:
Orin seems to move with Nuala in the meteor's direction, listening to her words as Orin gives the order telepathically for the soldiers to form a defensive perimeter, which they do without question. "Interesting. If there is nothing, will you be on your way? Or do you wish to take the meteor with you?" He asks then, as if now judging her character to see if she is trustworthy.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala shakes her head, "I do not have a need for a rock," she says. "It has landed here, it is yours if you want it. My vessel can help remove it if you need..." The cloud around the meteor suddenly shifts, and a massive long body twists around inside it.
Nuala takes a step back. "That was fast," she says, raising her arm. part of the suit shifts, and a blaster forms on the back of each wrist. "Be careful, this could become risky," she warns. A gaping maw of a leechlike mouth bursts forward, large enough to swallow both of them at once without chewing. Nuala fires, hot plasma searing through the water, releasing instantly vaporized bubbles that are shortly reabsorbed into the sea as they streak forward, striking the beast. "Look out!" she shouts, trying to backpedal away from the monster. Of course, she is not nearly as nimble as it is.

Aquaman has posed:
Orin nods and smiles then to Nuala. "Good, then we will not be enemies this day." Then...the worm emerges from the meteor. "You weren?t lying. How big can it get?" He asked curiously as if to test the urgency to get it out of the water.

Tgen her blast distracts it. "Atlanteans! Open fire! Bring that creature down!" And so it begins as beams from Atlantean rifles are drilled at the beast, with Aquaman entering a stance to prepare to engage

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala manages to narrowly escape becoming breakfast for the giant worm, diving to the side just far enough so that as it slides past she is struck and bounces outside of the mouth instead of inside of it. The beams ripple through the creature's body, points of blood spurting out from its body and clouding the water as it continues forward to try to swallow Orin.
Nuala scrambles back up, diving forward and grabbing her talonts from their leg holsters, the tonfa like weapons blaze to life, releasing a hiss of water being superheated around them as she swings with both arms down, cutting into the creature. Of course, with its massive size, it's of limited impact, it is just so amazingly large. There is a pulse, and it seems to grow even larger as it moves through the water.

Aquaman has posed:
Orin looks at this beast and he notices that it will only continue to get bigger and bigger if it's in the water. So either he needs to kill it with one blow, or he needs to knock it into the sky. So what does he do? he simply plants his staff into the grond...and it seems that the ocean actually removes itself from that environment! the water moving away from Orin, the worm and Nuala, avoiding all three of them like the plague in an effort to stop the creatures growth.

Then? he takes the Trident and he leaps into the breathable air, attempting to bring the trident down on the creature with enough force to possibly even slice a large chunk of it off!

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala was not expecting the water to recede from this depth, but she doesn't have time to think about it. Aquaman's trident strikes true, gouging it severely as it lets out a scream, blood gashing from behind its mouth. "The head, we have to remove its head!" She sprays a freezing blast, causing another screech as it turns on her, the ice forming on its slippery body forming cracks. It's long tail whips around, trying to grab Orin and peel him off his attack, while the head snaps back, closing around Nuala as she disappears inside its massive maw.

Aquaman has posed:
Orin tears the worm asunder with that strike as he gouges it, only for Nuala to also land a powerful blow on the massive creature. Either way, when he hears what he has to do to kill it, he looks at Nuala. "Acknowledged!" only for her to disappear into the creatures mouth. So Aquaman does what he must.

He bats away the creature's tail with a single punch, then he rips his trident out of it's flesh and twists into the air, attempting to bring the trident down in such a way as to try and decapitate the monster!

Nuala Duvall has posed:
The beast gurgles as the trident gouges a path through its flesh, blood spraying out of it like a torrent. It tries to twist itself to face him, having trouble because of his relation to the head. As it does, an explosion bursts out the other side of the neck. Another explosion, and a third as the other half of the head that was connects is blown to pieces, and the great maw goes slack, like a tire that has had the air removed, the flesh collapsing without strength to keep its form. Inside the opening to the rest of the body, Nuala lays, her suit now coated in the monsters blood. She reaches up, hitting a button to release the helmet, which slides up and back, revealing her face for the first time. She's probably around thirty, by her appearance, and most decidely human looking. She pants slightly, and lets out a laugh.
"Thank you," she says. "Your help is greatly appreciated. You are quite the warrior."

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman slices and dices! until the beast fall from his slice and Nuala's rather exciting exit out of the beast's neck. Orin smiles softly to her as he rips his Trident out of the beast and he walks with it like a walking stick. "Good to see you are still alive." then she removes her helmet to reveal a human woman, water dripping idly on them almost like a light rain. But Aquaman was the Lord of the Seven Seas. that said, he smiles to her. "Of course. It's only natural. must defend my own, and our honored guest." he bows his head softly to her. "If you wish it, you are welcome in Poseidonis as such a guest. For truly, you need rest, yes?"

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala smiles, "I," she pauses, and then smiles again. "I could use rest," she admits. She puts her feet underneath her, and stands back up. "I am not accustomed to people who will help in these fights," she says. "It takes a brave man to face such things. She looks at the corpse. "It should not be poisonous, if sea creatures eat it they should not suffer harm or any ill effects." She glances at her blood soaked armor. "I will likely need to bathe. It can be messy work some days. I must apologize, I believe I did not catch your name if you gave it." She looks up at the suspended water. "How have you achieved this?" she asks. "I have never seen such a thing."

Aquaman has posed:
Orin nods softly to her then. "Then it is decided. I, and my personal guard, will escort you. You will come with us home." he then takes a moment to think and the Trident glows with magic, and he casts a small spell that will allow Nuala to breathe underwater for three days to the clock. "You can now survive underwater just as we can. But be wary, this effect will only last three days." then she asks his name. "I am Orin II, King of Atlantis." he smiles softly to her. "I will not reveal all of my secrets now, Nuala." he remembered her name!

"But alas, the time for questions can come later. Come, we return to Poseidonis." his soldiers salute their king and the scientists fall into line as the water now closes on all of them, being submerged....and Nuala can now breathe underwater with no adverse effects.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala is not one to swoon, but there is a certain blush to her face. As the water closes on her, there is a certain resistance. It's not natural to breathe underwater for her. She finds herself holding her breath for quite several seconds before managing to force herself to breathe in. "This is quite remarkable," she says, even more surprised that she is able to speak. "She laughs, a bit beside herself. The blood of the creature washes away into the ocean. "King of the Sea. "I have heard of you. You are...not what I expected you to look like."

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman smiles softly to Nuala as she seems to blush and aclimate herself to the ocean waters as they make quick pace to Poseidonis. "I'm heard of even where you're from? I feel a little flattered that my reputation has gotten out of hand a bit..." he smiles to her warmly then. "What did you expect? gills and a shark tail? Poseidon himself?" he asks her curiously. Either way, he smiles warmly to her. "Tell me of where you're from?"

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"Well," she says, "To be fair, I had to research Earth before I came. I am from...well," She pauses. "The Justice League is well known on Earth. I am from Earth, but I have not been here since I was very small." She looks like a kid in a candy store as she takes in the sights. "I have a great affinity for the ocean, though." She recalls. "I lived on the ocean when I was a young child. My father was the captain of a freight ship. I was five when I left, not through my own choice."

Aquaman has posed:
Orin aaahhhs and nods a few times. "I see....my apologies that you were taken from your home...and so young, at that." he sighs then sadly. "We live in dark times. Though I can tell you'e had experience beyond this world. Though glad to see the League is popular...should help keep threats away from earth." he smiels softly to her as they start to approach Poseidonis in all of it's glory.

"Behold...the capital city of Atlantis, Poseidonis." he smiles warmly to her.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala shakes her head. "It...was the best considering the situation. It's not a story for first meetings," she tells Orin. "I have been sent back by my...well, I call him father, though he is not blood. I am here to monitor and help prevent unwanted visitors from arriving. Like the worm." She looks up, and looks truly dumbstruck. "All this, beneath the ocean," she says, she smiles. "To think, from above the ocean is so constant. Down here, it is being a whole world that is unseen from the surface." She slows, taking it in carefully. "You have a truly beautiful kingdom. I think I could stay here forever." She grins to herself. "Well, three days at least," she clarifies, remembering the rule given her.

Aquaman has posed:
Orin looks at her with a chuckle then. "Fair enough. I did not wish to intrude." he offers her a big smile then as they swim through those waters, though he does listen to her words, he offers her a kind smile. "I understand. I hope you like how earth is now." and yes, they see and are now swimming through Poseidonis...a grand city indeed. "Do you like it?" then she says she could live here forever, and the sea king chuckles.

"If you wished it, I could find a way to make it so. That is, have you be able to breathe in the waters here for as long as you like." he gives her a little wink. "But you are an honored guest. Welcome to my city."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"I am not know what to think of the Earth. I would like to enjoy it. It just feels as if it is not home now," Nuala answers in her thick Xandarian accent. "But I do like it, yes. How old is this city? Undisturbed by the world above, I hope it has been able to thrive for a good long while." She is unable to swim herself, weighed down by the heavy armor, but it seems unencumbering as can be considering its size. She smiles awkwardly. "I wish my birth father had been able to see this, I think he would have liked it very much. He was in love with the sea."

Aquaman has posed:
Orin nods a few times then, though when he's asked about how old the city itself is? He smiles. "Thousands upon thousands of years old. It's been around longer than many of thiese civilizations of today have even been a thought." he chuckles the na moment, he is slow though, only to be polite to Nuala. At present, a room is being prepared for her where she can breathe and not worry about the fact that she's under-freaking-water. Eitehr way, when her father is mentioned, he smiles softly. "Many a sailor wishes to find this place....but now that the world knows it exists, many more seek to come here. I let in those who appear to be trustworthy and normal people...but I turn away the greedy and over-eager." he shrugs then. "Your father would have been welcome here. He seems like he was a good man."

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala seems still ever so impressed by her surroundings. "He was, as best I can remember," she agrees. "Can such a place remain undisturbed? I fly in the stars, many worlds. I see them all, but here is hidden within this world one place under the sea. How long can it remain hidden? One planet is not a very large place to hide."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur smiles softly then to her as she speaks. "Believe it or not, this place remains quite undisturbed. Either way, humans cannot breathe down here unless they are Atlantean or can hold their breaths for a very long time. My city is -very- well hidden, never you worry." he chuckles then. "Let us worry about that." he pauses then as he receives a transmission.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala nods, "I would think they would have a great deal of trouble." She glances around, and presses a release in her suit. The entire outer shell suddenly opens up like a hand, and she floats out. She taps a button on her wrist, and the suit closes again. Inside the larger suit is a more form fitting outfit, though it is not as tight as spandex. Instead it has some thicker properties, and a purple light pulses through the slimmer armor. She's tall for a woman, but not as tall as the large suit made her appear previously. She stands just under six feet.
"I am glad you need not worry. "Is it safe to leave my shell suit here? While it gives significant protection, it is not suited for moving beneath the sea."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
... or if said human has access to sufficiently advanced technology and knows where it is. A green glow suffuses the area as a Green Lantern is swimming down. A female Lantern, that has a mermaid-tail construct around her legs, trying it out. And is simply 'propelling' herself through the water, her course obvious as she's heading towards Atlantis. Her mission: to deliver a message to Aquaman. (One, to get the lay of the land, two to meet her new teammate, and three... sometimes it's hard to contact under the sea.)

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman gives a subtle smile to Nuala then. "Of course, you can leave the suit behind, for you no longer need it. Swim freely, Nuala." he says with a small smile for her. before he senses the water shifting as something approaches...namely, something fairly powerful. It's Jessica! He looks to Nuala then. "...it seems you arn't the only guest today. I wonder if the League sent her?" he says mostly to himself.

But Atlantis is already ready for Jessica's arrival, and she will find no problems getting into the large aquatic mega-city.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
Nuala glances up, turning in the water to face Jessica's arrival. "A lantern?" she asks. That is something a little more familiar. "I have heard that Earth has many lanterns." In some ways, it makes her feel slightly obselete. Her suit is far beyond earth technology, but it is not nearly on par with the green lanterns. "I feel that my arrival to protect you may have been a little unnecessary," she admits to Orin.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz nods as she smiles, deciding to keep the 'mermaid-tail' construct transulcently around her legs, her entire body glowing for life-support. "Phew, the pressure down here is FIERCE," she mutters. She smiles. "Hello, Aquaman! I am Green Lantern. I was just invited to join the Justice League. The others kindly gave me your coordintaes - thought I would introduce myself. Also, I have a letter for you." She hands him the envelope (everthing's laminated to be waterproof). "It's a message but they asked me not to read it."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur turns his head to Nuala with a soft laughter to his voice. "looks like it." he answers her, though at the feeling of being obsolete, he gives her the warmest smile and a comforting hand on the shoulder. "Whatever do you mean? you were a fantastic help in dealing with that sea monster. It almost took a chunk out of me." he smiles warmly before his eyes fall upon Jessica as she officially arrived.

"I was notified we took on another green lantern, though I was unaware that you were stopping by. A letter? for me?" he accepts the letter by reaching out with his free hand, and he opens it to look it over. "hmm....." apparently there was going to be a meeting later with the founding League members. he nods softly then. more than likely to celebrate the League's anniversary.

"mhm....thank you for bringing this to me. Welcome to Atlantis, Green Lantern." he smiles then.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"I hope that I am not overstaying," she comments. "If you have business to handle, I should not make it harder for you. I would not wish to slow the process." She glances uncertainly toward Jessica, and then back to Orin. Nuala's awestruckness has seemed to wane in favor of insecurity, something that did not seem present in the least when fighting a giant worm seems to be in abundance in a more social setting.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz blinks. "Thank you - I heard about this place, but wouldn't have wanted to intrude." She stretches out as she settles to the seafloor, creating three chairs, one for herself (her construct fluke wiggling in the sand), and two for the others, in a triangular fashion. "What's your name, Miss? And Aquaman said you were fighting a sea monster? That's impressive."

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur smiles softly then to Nuala as she seems to show many steps of insecurity. He shakes his head though, almost dismissively. "You are not intruding, either of you. You may both stay as long as you like as honored guests." he says in a matter of fact kind of way that seems to end any room for dispute.

"Now, Nuala, I am a man of my word. For my thanks, a feast will be held in your honor. I would like for you to attend. It's the least I can do for helping me." then he looks to Jessica. "You're not intruding, never fear." questions are asked between the ladiesa nd the king falls silent.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"Nuala," the blonde haired woman offers, extending her hand through the water for a shake. "Nuala Duvall of the Halal Task Force." The group is a lesser known offshoot of the Nova Corps, designed to prevent parasitic infestations. Still, she says the title as if Jessica would know about them. She sits down on the constructed chair, after all, it seems the polite thing to do, since it was constructed for her. "A feast?" she asks sheepishly. "I do not know that I have been so impressive as to deserve such an honor, your highness," she excuses in her thick alien accent. "I was only doing what my duty is in fact to do, though you flatter me." There is another blush, and to an outside observer, it might be clear that she's slightly smitten by the whole event.

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz blinks. "The Halal?" she asks, blankly. "The Halal are a division of the Noa Corps tasked with alien infestatoins." "Thank you, Anillo," she mutters, glaring at her hand. "The Nova. Never encountered them directly. Heard good things about them." She smiles. "If you're Nova, you're good people." She smiles faintly. "I'm honored." She takes that handshake.

Aquaman has posed:
Arthur seems to lok at Nuala then as she questions his decision about a feast. "Nonsense! You forget I am the king." he gives her a little playful smile then. he notices her blush...whether it's about him, the city, or the situation is unknown to him though. Then he looks to Jessica, happy that the gals are being friendly to each other.

Nuala Duvall has posed:
"Thank you," Nuala answers. "You are both kind," she nods, as if it is a decision more than an observation. "We do our best, it is not the most glorious role in Nova Corps, but I am proud of it."

Green Lantern (Cruz) has posed:
Jessica Cruz smiles. "Alright - how about we start with a tour of this lovely city? Oh, is the mermaid-tail a bit much? Thought it was a good idea to help me navigate underwater..." She raises up, and prepares to go on the tour with Aquaman.

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman smiles to Nuala then and to Jessica, before hte latter asks for a tour. "Hm? oh, of course. Follow me. Over here in the temple to Neptune, better known as Poseidon.." and off the three went to enjoy that day in Poseidonis! They swam and talked all day..likely longer than any of them expected. What a day.
