Cast of Characters: Origami, Lelantos, Aquawoman, Green Arrow

Origami has posed:
A while ago, an explosion was reported in the park. Hero activity. No casualties, minimal damage. Nobody was especially alarmed, since it was sort of a careful thing, an ambush for unintelligent monsters.

Now there is a giant paper cow eating bits of monster thingy, and a heroine who is on great terms with the fire department and ambulance drivers hovering nearby. Atop a giant paper airplane. Right in the middle of a paved picnic area.

Miyako Moore flips through the address book of her phone, tapping her chin thoughtfully and frowning, occasionally glancing over her shoulder at a painted up garbage can covered in some sort of demented Cubist nightmare.

Lelantos has posed:
OK, so there was an explosion called in, therefore it needs to be innvestigated. As the least senior detective on the beat, the strange stuff tends to get sent to Ron. After a few questions, he is sent towards Miyako.

"Pardon me Madam," he says politely, "I was told to speak with you about the recent disturbance." He holds out his badge, "Detective Griffin, NYPD."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore smiles and salutes. "Hello, Detective! I'm Origami. Miyako Moore. I dealt with a threat to public safety earlier, but now I don't know how to make sure it doesn't turn back into a threat to public safety. I am suppressing the artifact that caused it, but I can't move away from it very far or else it will become an active danger again."

She points at the paper cow. "There were monsters, but they were torn apart in the explosion, and the pieces are in the cow. I don't know what sort of weird properties they have. I'm happy to give my report, sir."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera slowly walks closer to the scene from...wherever she was. That fiery red hair was down for once as those blue eyes looks about. Seems she had just missed all the excitement. For now she was just listening as she looked to...a paper cow. That brow raising she then looks over to the officer and Miyako.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron takes out his folder and opens it, "Did you want to give a written statement first? It is usually easier to ask pertinant questions once I have read the proper order of events." He has heard stranger stories...and been part of a few himself.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods, "Sure, but, um.." She holds up a pair of horribly scarred hands, "Could I possibly ask you to transcribe it? Writing is kind of hard for me." She smiles, pulls out a big tube of prescription hand cream, and rubs it into her hands, stretching her fingers.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron sighs and says, "All right, we start at the top, First your name, then tell me when things started and follow all events in order. I will ask questions if anything needs clarification."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera slowly makes her way over towards the pair. A slight smile tugs at her lips as she looks to Miyako. "I can help...if you want....." Looking to Ron then she squints as she looks him over. "....you're an enforcement officer of the law up here, correct? Is that alright if I write it for her?" At that she glances to the woman's hands but continues. "I don't know all the nuances with your laws up here work so want to make sure.....before I just do it."

Lelantos has posed:
Ron responds, "As long as the transcription is accurate and she signs off on it, you may write for her." It is better to keep his hands free, in case of trouble. He adds, "You will have to sign it also...there is a line for that at the bottom of the sheet. If you are a witness, you will also need to do your own statement...preferably first so as to prevent any contamination."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore mms, "She might have seen the very end of it? With the cow?" She shrugs a little and lets them figure out who holds the pen.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera raises her brow then as she just shakes her head. "Oh no....no clue what's going on. I just swam up here to people watch again. Not a clue what exactly I missed....though from overhearing her it sounds like it was something fun." Reaching out her hands for the pen and pad she makes the 'gimme' motion. "Do you need my whole official name or will just my first name suffice?"

Green Arrow has posed:
New York is known for being the home for all kinds of 'interesting' sorts, but having been in the area already on other business, the Green Arrow has come over to investigate what sounded like explosions. His motorcycle is silent running and placed under the cover of some bushes, before Green Arrow starts to head over to the area.

At least, he was heading in that direction, until he saw the giant paper cow...

"This city just keeps getting weirder." Green Arrow mutters to himself as he just... stares at it for a moment, then moves over to the edge of the picnic area and conceals himself behind a tree, listening in on the conversations first.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron considers the question, Mera asked "If you are a mask, there are laws about you reporting under a pseudonym. Otherwise, your Given name and Family name usually suffice." He says, to Origami, "Pause occasionally for questions, it will make things easier."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods, and starts speaking slowly, pausing after every little bit to let it get written down. "My name is Miyako Moore. I operate as a hero under the name Origami. My identity is publicly known. I usually assist firefighters and ambulances on informal call. I can sense magical energy, among other things."

"I've been tracking a distinctive set of disturbances for awhile: Someone is tagging random things. After awhile, the tags get strong enough that I notice them, and I check them out. And I find weird random monster... things and other effects. There are reports for some of those on record, and I can help you cross reference them later. A basic magical ward stops things from coming through, but it doesn't fix the stuff that already happened, and my ward only works when I am close to it." She stops and waits for that to be written up.

"About two and a half hours ago, I noticed a source in Central Park. On investigation, I discovered a garbage can covered in the distinctive graffiti, surrounded by six small monsters. The monsters were aggressive. So I placed several explosives in the picnic area here, set to explode on proximity to the monsters, I warned the one civilian in the area to keep the area clear, then I returned to the can, put a ward in the can, took the garbage can, and flew toward the picnic area. All the monsters followed me and tried to attack. So I flew over the explosives, and they destroyed themself."

"I wasn't sure if it was safe to leave the remains lying around, so I made that cow to pick up and store the remains."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera looks to Ron. "A mask?" Looking to Miyako she seems to be in thought then back to Ron. "I don't wear masks...." Though answers were short her tone is even. "And I don't have family name so I'll just use my whole deal." There's a snort of laughter then. "Or given how much my husband is up here maybe "Aquaman's Wife" will suffice....." She focuses on what Miyako is saying however and writes her account up rather quickly. Staring at the paper she then looks back tot he woman and nods. "Anything else?"

Lelantos has posed:
Ron considers the statement, "So roughly 2 and a half hours ago, your magic sense detected a disturbance, and you arrived to find a number of magical creatures had been summoned through magical grafiti on a trash can?" That is a bit odd, but moving on, "You say you have encountered some of these magical marks before? Does defacing, altering, or erasing the make stop the magic? Does the person leaving the mark necessarily know that the effect will happen, of could the summoning be accidental? Are the marks all the same or are they different?" That is enough questions for now...he will have more after those are answered.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore shrugs and glances back at the garbage can painted with the deranged Cubist insanity to make sure it hasn't done anything else. She frowns at it. "I haven't been able to deface one. I found one once that was defaced with a penciled in magical rune, and that one was kept inert, but the pencil marks were damaged and failed. I do not know anything for certain about the person making the marks, since they are long gone before I arrive. The marks are all different, and the effects are all different." She sighs.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera just listens for now as she writes down the discussion for the woman. Those blue eyes do wander though as she looks around. A frown tugs at her lips for a moment as she seems to be looking for something but her gaze returns back to the pair before her.

Green Arrow has posed:
Having heard enough, Green Arrow takes a Monocular out of a compartment on his quiver, and scoots just enough around around the tree he's behind to take a long distance look around the scene. Especially checking out the remains of the thing the paper cow was eating.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron frowns, "According to you, you can only sustain your wards if you are nearby, what has happened with the previous Grafiti once you left. Clearly you can not be near them all at this moment."

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore nods agreeably, "I turned one that was pretty easy to keep controlled in to SHIELD, and I have had help from other magic users to stabilize or destroy the other ones. I'm trying to find out if there is anybody I can call in for this one now." She glares at the garbage can. Please don't move, please don't move..

The remains are mostly gone, but one looks like a curved piece of glass or cellophane, reflecting an inhuman eye of some sort, with monstrous lips and teeth instead of eyelids. The cow wanders over and swallows it.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera follows the gaze to the garbage can but looks back to the pen and paper. Tapping that pen idly she just listens as she waits to see if there is anything else to write. That...and this seemed like an investigation so who was she to interrupt, right?

Green Arrow has posed:
Green Arrow finally comes out of hiding upon hearing the request, his Monocular stored and his compound bow idling at his side as he walks over to Miyako. His voice distorter is on as he asks, "Do you need something moved, or is this a magical thing?" The vigilante asks, one eye kept on Ron. Green Arrow can sometimes have... interesting reactions from the police.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron glances at the Arrow, and tells him, "Apparently this is a magical thing, though what can be done about it I am trying to determine." To Miyako, he says, "Does damaging the object the Grafiti is on have any effect? For example, if Green Arrow were to blow up the trash can, with it cease to be a magical portal?"

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore ohs and looks over. "Um. Unfortunately? It's a magical thing. Uhh.. I don't know. I couldn't destroy the scroll, and that was just a sheet of printer paper. The paint changed shape on the wall. I wasn't sure how it worked? And I didn't want to take any chances. It already pulled something in from some weird dimension." She fusses a bit, uncomfortably because she doesn't have the skills to deal with this as well as she wishes she did.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera looks over as the Green Arrow makes his appearance. Those blue eyes look him over for a moment then looks back to Miyako. "So is there no one to call to deal with it? I can see if my husband is around and send him a message if he might know someone...." There's a light shrug as she continues. "Unfortunately....I don't think I can help out with it...."

Green Arrow has posed:
There's a frown under the green hood that reaches Green Arrows eyes under the domino mask, and he turns his head to look at the paper cow. "I'm pretty sure I don't have an arrow for magical weirdness, but it's definitely on my to do list, now." Green Arrow quips.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron recalls a detail and says to Mera, "List your last name as Curry, if you are Aquaman's wife, that is what it would be by standard human law in these parts." To Miyako, "Can you in any way drain it if magical energy? It the magic were removed, perhaps it could be damaged by mundane means." Magic is not exactly his forte.

Origami has posed:
Miyako Moore blinks. "I don't know how to. That's why I was looking for somebody else. There are people who have studied magic for years... I'm not one of them. I'm sorry." She frowns a bit. "I just want to figure out how to deal with this and maybe get an idea how to stop whoever it is from making more."

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera looks to Ron and nods to his answer then looks to Miyako. "So if you move it starts back up? If you want I can see about locking it up somewhere back in my kingdom. It'll be deep down and perhaps my husband can reach out to his contacts....."

Green Arrow has posed:
"I'll just stick around and make sure nothing weird happens. Again." Green Arrow offers, his compound bow getting switched to his other hand as he starts to head for the monster and the paper cow to keep an eye out... and to get a closer look.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron calls one of the officers who are setting up crime scene tape over and tells him, "Call base, tell them this is a code 666/13 cleanup and we need a cleanup team ASAP." Code 666 means superhuman activity, the slash thirteen designtes it is of a magical nature. The Department will call the relevent authorities to contact someone like Doctor Strange or Zatarra and send them to help.

Origami has posed:
The cow is an origami paper cow of the spotty kind, basically a box with legs and a neck and head. It swishes its tail and roams around in a cowlike way to graze on the vanishingly small number of shards of monster remaining. The last shard you can find twitches angrily.

Miyako Moore nods, "I'm going to wait here for help then."

Aquawoman has posed:
She then looks to Ron but back down to the paper as she speaks, scribbling something at the bottom. "I think...that's it?" Mera then looks to Miyako with a smile. "Anything else I need to write down on here?" She prepares that pen....waiting. Arthur would be so proud of her.....helping.

Lelantos has posed:
Ron has to stay unti the clean up team arrives, but he moves on to take statements from other witnesses. Possibly somone may have seen who left the grafiti.

Aquawoman has posed:
Mera passes him back that notebook with the notes she took for Miyako. And how did she sign it? 'Queen Mera Curry, Queen of Atlantis, Former Queen of Xebel' At that she just moves out of the man's way and looks around.....curious as to how that proceeds.

Green Arrow has posed:
When it becomes clear the police and others have the situation well in hand, Green Arrow disappears into the park. The man is really quiet when he wants to be.
