Darkhawk has posed:
As the credits to Tangled: Before Ever After began to roll, Chris sheepishly looked over at Kara. He was a Disneyphile through and through, even if it wasn't great for his social standing. He wondered if having shared his interest with Kara might have permanently landed him in the friend zone. She had seemed, as far as he could tell, to have enjoyed Tangled and the made for TV pilot, which led into Tangled: The Series, which they had on a streaming service.

Trying to play it cool, he ran his right hand through his hair, "so blondie," he tried that one on too, oh so tentatively, "ready for the series, or will you be ghosting me on social media, before claiming you had never even heard of me?" He was at her parent's place, so he glanced at the door, where his shoes were, trying to think of the most expeditious means of retreat should things turn sour on him.

Would it be appropriate to offer to clean up the soft drinks that sat on the counter, or the popcorn, which rested in a large yellow bowl in his lap. It even said 'Blockbuster video' on it, some relic from her adoptive parents past. The thing had seen so many movies. It must have held sentimental value too.

Supergirl has posed:
Being in high school, if this ever got out, it wouldn't just be bad for his social standing. He would have none. Zero. Zip. Teens just did not accept the Disney thing. In the privacy of their own homes, they would hide behind blinds and locked doors to watch but they could never admit it in public.

Then there was Kara. She tended to be sunshine and flowers so she didn't really care if people knew she watched Disney movies. While she was not as much of a fan as Chris, she did enjoy them and Tangled had been in her top five. "We can try the series. With all the dangling plotlines they left in the movie, kind of have to in order to find out what's up," she says with a bit of a shrug. But she does look over at him, giving a smile. "And I'd prefer Sunshine to Blondie."

Darkhawk has posed:
He began to speak, really going out on a limb here, like, he was on that branch that stuck out over the cliff, and below, there had to be mutated sea bass, with lasers attached to their heads. "The other night dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms. But when I awoke dear, I was mistaken. So I hung my head and I cried. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

Yep, he had no chance, no social standing at all. "I'll always love you and make you happy, if you will only say the same. But if you leave me and love another, you'll regret it all someday. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

Supergirl has posed:
Having never heard that song before, Kara is paying close attention to the words themselves. At first he is speaking and she blushes a little at the confession of dreaming he held her. Dropping her gaze to the bowl, she found herself quickly focusing back on his face as the spoken word turned into singing.

Some of it hit pretty close to home. Particularly the part about regretting it if she lvoed another. She just wasn't sure she was ready for the leap to that big L-word yet. Everytime she had used it, she'd managed to mess things up. So it might be bad luck to say it. Or even think it! "Did you write that for me?" Uh-oh...

Darkhawk has posed:
He shook his head in the negative as she asked her question, and continued the song, serenading her with it in his own way, "You told me once, dear, you really loved me. And no one else could come between. But now you've left me and love another. You have shattered all of my dreams. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

He wasn't a bad singer, but he was definitely never going to make a career out of it. But he was giving his all, trying to do it justice. "In all my dreams, dear, you seem to leave me; when I awake my poor heart pains. So when you come back and make me happy, I'll forgive you dear, I'll take all the blame. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."

Blushing at having shared that performance with her, and how some of it hit home, he looked into her eyes, losing himself for a moment. "It's kind of a nursery rhyme, probably over a hundred years old or so. When you said you'd prefer sunshine, it came to me, which is odd, since I rarely remember lyrics that well, like, at all. But you inspire me, Kara. I, yeah, I do, all of that... I'm not that good at flowery speeches and stuff, unless I wantonly steal it from better writers, but I do, forgive you, love you, all of it. You are my sunshine, my only sunshine."

Supergirl has posed:
Unfortunately, hearing all that put into words wasn't a good thing. The guilt all came crashing back around her. The blush spread. Kara was now feeling even worse with him continuing, making her feel like an even bigger heel for what she'd done. She had hoped they would move on yet here he was, pouring out all of it in a song. She dropped her gaze again, saddened a bit.

When the song shifted to him taking blame, she frowned and looked at him again. Then he finished it off and explained a bit. "Chris, I'm very sorry for what I did. I'd like to blame others for it but I don't even know if that's true. Or just that the right words and things led me astray. I do care about you but I'm scared of that word now. Look where it led me to. The feelings are there but I can't say it. I hope you understand that. I don't want to jinx us again." She nibbles her bottom lip a moment then shrugs, giving a crooked little smile. "I just wanted you to call me SUnshine because of the movie. It sorta fits me with the whole yellow sun and stuff too." Nevermind the personality bits that match so well.

Darkhawk has posed:
He says, "as you wish," being careful to choose those words as they had previously watched the Princess Bride. He was hoping she'd pick up on the phrase's dual meaning. "The feelings are there. I don't need to hear the word. As long as you don't mind me saying the word, because I do, I did, and I always will. I believe we make our own luck. And I think we should find out what happens in the rest of the series. I like spending time with an ultra positive blonde haired go-getter... and Rapunzel's not bad either."

Supergirl has posed:
That earns another blush as she picks up exactly what those words mean. The Princess Bride was one of her favorite movies so she had been able to quote many of the lines. That particular one was branded in her memory forever. She leaned over at gave him a soft kiss then settled against his shoulder. "I think Rapunzel might be even better than I am. If she were here, her super power would be her positive outlook, not just her hair."

Darkhawk has posed:
He felt so relieved at the soft kiss. So, he was going to continue to have a social life at school for at least one more day. Of course, the way he leaned back on the couch, with her settled in against his shoulder, like he owned the place, so pleased with himself. Yep, he could demonstrate an ego, and even be a bit insufferable, but for him, it was more of an act. "And if Eugene were here, he'd have something really funny to say that would make her, and you, smile so brightly that you'd light up this place like a beacon."

Supergirl has posed:
Which of course made her do just that. Kara smiled brightly and snuggled in, grabbing the remote and pushing the play button so they could watch the first episode of the series. People wondered about aliens, Krytonians, what they were like, how they were different. And here she was snuggled up on the couch with her boyfriend and enjoying Disney movies. If they knew they truth, they'd probably be pretty disappointed that it wasn't more--well, alien.

Darkhawk has posed:
Chris kissed Kara's head, well, her hair, as her position, slightly in front of him, wouldn't allow for him to kiss her any other way. He slipped his arms around her, holding her on the couch. They were a normal couple, just a couple of teenagers enjoyed a weekend date at home, although her adopted parents were in the house. "Awe, that raccoon is so cute. I want one... of course, I hear that they're like two year olds, getting into everything."
