Cast of Characters: Carrie Kelley, Batman

Carrie Kelley has posed:
It wasn't that late in the day, maybe about 1pm. Late enough for reasonable people to be up and about. Carrie drives her beat up red sedan up the drive and parks in front of the manor doors. She just intends to a quick pop in to make sure Damian was okay - After all, while he'd missed classes before, he'd always texted her to let her know. The fact that he hadn't now worries her quite a bit. Did something happen? Did he get grounded? Or sick? Or... A myriad of possibilities were running through her mind making her mood less than pleasant as she strides up the stairs to the door. If there's a bell she rings it, otherwise? Her fist lifts to knock solidly on the door several times before pacing impatiently in front of the door.

Batman has posed:
there was indeed a bell, and since she was able to make the drive up to the Manor proper, the person inside at least was allowing them to approach.

Soon after she rings, a tall man answers the door. His hair groomed and styled perfectly, and in a distinguished double breasted suit. "Hello." He says, looking down at Carrie, he was a tall man, had a striking resemblance to his own son, sans Damian's light olive skin. "May I help you?" He asks, his tone warm, and deep, it was a voice that sounded inviting.

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley pauses her pacing to look up toward the tall man that she instantly recognized from tabloids, news, and other papers. His face was likely the most memorable of anyone in Gotham. The arms which she'd crossed over her chest uncross only to plant on her hips. Don't fall for the good looks. Be firm.

"Where's Damian? Is he okay? He's missed our class before but he always calls me to let me know something came up. A text, at least. Is he okay?"

Batman has posed:
"I'm sorry, you are?" He knew full well who she was, but from memory, this was the first time the two had met face to face. Bruce looks over the young woman, his cobalt eyes shake a moment before he explains. "He is fine. There was an incident in Metropolis, he was hurt at a competition. I've been trying to get him moved to Gotham."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
"Carrie Kelley, his acting teacher." A deep breath is taken puffing her up to her full height. She wasn't very impressive even in spite of the training she'd been doing the past few months. Being short would always be a detriment when trying to seem authoritarian, though she manages it well as she meets his gaze unwavering. A single eyebrow lifts up over the edge of her glasses at mention of a competition, and an injury. "I wasn't aware he was involved in any sports, but ... Okay." It was quite possible he was. Maybe good old dad had signed him up. "Hm. Is it bad? If they can't move him I'd assume it must be." This earns a serious frown from her. "What kind of competition was he in if he gets hurt that badly? That doesn't sound safe."

Batman has posed:
Bruce offers Carrie inside once she's announced who she is. "He is actually quite gifted. But he took a tumble and there was someone who...took a dislike to his last name and decided to not release a hold after it was called off."

Bruce takes a moment to stop in the library, showing Carrie a chair and offering it to her. "Jiu-Jitsu. I would have preferred he take up baseball, but he insisted. He is good enough to come back in a day or so. He hates it there, as you can probably imagine."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
The invitation inside causes Carrie to pause only a moment before following after into the luxurious manor. Resolutely she keeps her eyes forward so as to not rubberneck at the furnishings, decor, and other oppulent features of this home as she was determined not to seem the poor city girl unfamiliar with such things. The offered chair is taken with a small nod as she sinks down to sit in it, crossing one leg over the knee of the other.

"Ah, I see. That does sound like him," she has to admit. When he wanted something he did set his mind to it. It's the mention of hating the other city that earns a puzzled look from her. "He probably just hates being in a hospital. He never does seem to like having a lot of attention on him," she points out knowingly. "Although he's getting much better at it. Likely he's just upset because of being judged due to his name. A lot of people look at him like a younger version of you instead of seeing him as his own person."

Batman has posed:
Bruce's smile turns to a slight frown at the mention of Damian's dilemma of looking like his own father. "I know, we in my family all seem to bear a resemblance to our fathers." The older man motions to the portrait of three people, Thomas, Martha, and a very young Bruce, maybe around ten years old. Thomas, with the exception of his thick mustache, had looked like a bespectacled Bruce. "I try my best to let him be his own person. But our name precedes us."

"I know he is...shy to say the least. But I want to thank you for what you're teaching him, letting him come out of his shell more and more."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley glances toward the portrait pointed out looking it over only breifly. They did bear a striking resemblance to one another after all. "It's not the physical resemblance that upsets him." Turning her attention back to Bruce she goes quiet seeming to think on what she should say next. "Nevermind. I'm sorry, I shouldn't be talking so much about things he told me. I might just be his acting teacher, but I remember what it's like having someone you can actually talk to about things as a kid. It's rare to find an adult that respects your privacy. So I'm going to respect his." In so far as banging on the door to make sure he was okay at least.

She does smile though as she focuses on the more suitable matter. "He's a wonderful student, one of my best. It's no problem at all teaching him. He's a joy to have around."

Batman has posed:
Bruce gives a nod, looking to Carrie again. "I understand...more than others would know." He turns his face towards the fireplace, no fire of course, just something to focus on. "I am glad. He seems to enjoy them, from what I understand. I am glad he's adjusting to all of this."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley fixes Bruce with a firm stare. Her hands plant on her knees as she sits up straighter. "He's adaptable. He'll manage. What I would like to do is make sure that YOU are adapting as well." There's a slight frown that creases her lips as she regards him sternly. "Everyone knows your reputation, Mr. Wayne. I hope you do realize that with a child around you can't keep being the rich playboy. That's no kind of example to be setting for him. You're not just sending him out for all these classes and competitions to get him out of your hair so you can keep partying, right?" Her eyes narrow as she waits for his reaction to this.

Batman has posed:
Bruce raises his brow at Carrie. Her chutzpah is a bit respected it seems. "I can assure you, he is the one that sought you out. And when it came to sport, he informed me he wanted to take it up. I go to his competitions often, I wasn't there on his request this last time. He wanted to be able to concentrate, at least that's what he said." Bruce gives a shrug, looking back to Carrie. "You have to understand, his mother pretty much left him on my doorstep. And went away to keep living her 'playboy millionaire' life. I did change how I lived for him."

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley keeps her gaze rather searching until she hears what apparently is a suitable answer. A small breath is let out, and the tension in her shoulders as if she was preparing for a prolonged fight relaxes visibly. "I know. That's part of why I was concerned. I know what it's like having parents that were too busy doing other things. I was forgotten most of the time." There's a slight twitch to her jaw as she says this, a hint of anger and hurt that she quickly hides with a smile. "You can't blame me for wanting to make sure it wasn't a similar situation with Damian. He deserves better than he's gotten. Not that this is bad," she adds with a gesture around the room, a breif glance up at the ceiling, to indicate the mansion in general. "But there's more to growing up than just being well off."

Batman has posed:
Bruce gives a nod, standing up and smiling. "Trust me, he has the support he needs when he needs it here." They surely wouldn't have let Bruce take in three other boys before, if he wasn't a suitable parent.

"I don't mean to rush you off, Miss Kelley, but I do need to make good on my promise to him to have him moved back to Gotham. If there isn't anything else for now, I must be getting back to that"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley uncrosses her leg, and rises to her feet with a quick sweep of her hands over her sides to ensure her shirt was down properly. "Right, of course. Thank you for the time. I really was worried when I hadn't heard from him at all." With good reason it would seem, but... "I'm glad that he's going to be okay. Please let me know if he has to stay in the hospital awhile, I'd like to visit him if so."

Batman has posed:
"I'll have him send you a text or a call as soon as they let him have his cell phone." Bruce says with a smile. "He's been a grump after all this mess." He seems to be a bit different from the man the tabloids present him as. At least behind closed doors it seems. "Thank you for checking up on him, I'm sure he appreciates it!"

Carrie Kelley has posed:
Carrie Kelley offers a more genuine smile than before knowing that he would have a chance to reach out to her if he needed. "Thanks. I'll check back later. Tell him not to worry about classes until he's better. It's not like I have much else going on for the Summer, it can wait." With that she slips out back to her car to head back home to Gotham.
