Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Sarah Osborn, Aquaman, Captain America

Sarah Osborn has posed:
The tanker ship was seen at sea, but failed to respond to hails. As it was moving at speed towards the coast, a coast guard cutter was sent to investigate. Finding no one on board, the tanker was halted while the owners were contacted and an investigation team is sent on board. Suspecting something unnatural might be involved, Sarah Osborn sneaks on board the cutter carrying the investigation team. She is currently in her civilian guise...

Aquaman has posed:
Nothing happens in the Oceans of Aquaman without him actually knowing about it. Even if he's told by a little fish that's passing through, Aquaman is privy to almost as much of the oceanic activity as those doing the various activities.

The King arrives with Atlantean Soldiers in tow. They hang back and beneath the surface as he makes his diving leap up and out of the water, slamming down onto the tanker without a second care in the world. His Trident is attached to his back as usual. He doesn't say anything. Not yet. He just stands there in all of his regal nature to look about at those that are investigating things happening on his waters.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
The JAG team notes the arrival of Aquaman, "Greetings Aquaman. Something strange appears to have happened on this ship and we are attempting to find out what. We have a ship with no survivors located yet, and only one life boat missing. The first team entered the bridge to turn off the auto-pilot and the Throttle, we called the owners of the ship and bot a superuser password for the computer to access the logs, we were on our way to do so." He gestures at a second group, "That group is going to search the ship for survivors and any physical clues about what happened."

Aquaman has posed:
"Lead the way." Aquaman doesn't sound as though he's in the mood to not be involved with this. "I will send my team with yours to search." As if they could hear him, about four Atlantean soldiers leap onto the tanker as well. They drip but they stand at attention and ready to assist. Aquaman's focus is on the one in charge. "I will accompany you. I must see these logs with my own eyes. Perhaps we can solve this mystery together." Leave it to Aquaman to try and make sure that Atlantis and the Surface World are working together as much as possible.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Sarah considers carefully, and opens the pack she brought along, the Atlanteans are her physical equals at least where strength and toughness are concerned, she is fairly certain. That means shemight be captured...and if she is it would better to be captured as Goblin Girl. Sarah being captured might be more difficult to explain. Once she is changed she turns on her Auric Scanner in her helmet...causing her goblin eyes to glow yellow. She blinks as she sees a faint overlay of threads...like a spider's web but black. Black is not a healthy color. She picks out a line and starts following it, trying to stay out of sight.

The team reaches the bridge and the log is soon accessed. There are a number of routine entries, then a report that one of the sailors reported seeing a Sea Serpant. Shortly after that, sailors began vanishing. They would fail to report for duty...and sometimes blood would be found on the deck. Only on the deck, anyone who stayed below decks seemed to be safe, but you can not keep a ship running without going on deck. At first people only vanished at night, but as fewer people remained they started vanishing by day also. A small group tried to flee to an island, but their boat was capsized and the people pulled under the water one by one.

One of the Atlantean Soldiers informs Aquaman that he caught a glimpse of something green and purple moving about. It was small, the size of a youth or girl, and fast moving, and seemed to be trying to keep to cover.

Aquaman has posed:
"Find it. Bring it to me."

Aquaman doesn't know exactly what his Atlanteans have found in their travels but he's made some mental notes from the logs and he's headed back to the deck to make sure that he's ready for whatever it is that has decided to invade the investigation that's already in progress.

"I am not sure what we're dealing with at the moment. However, if it is a Sea Serpent of some sort, I will take care of it. There may be no need for violence. Whatever it is, if it is attacking boats and taking the crews, there must be a reason. I will find out that that reason is." Aquaman explains this to the Surface Worlder in charge to make sure that they understand that he's going to do everything in his power to take care of this issue.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Sarah is making some progress tracking the thread, it appears to be leading below decks. At least one end of it seems to be attached to something down there. What she can not tell, her auric scanner is useful, but limited. She pauses a moment to look at an area where she can see that blood was spilled and there was a person who suffered great fear. She realizes that someone (or some four) is trying to surround her, she can see the auras. They are clearly dutiful and healthy and physically powerful...they must be the soldiers from Atlantis. They must be pretty alert...but what to do about them? Well, try talking first. "Hello, I can see you there. I am called Goblin Girl and I investigate strange things. I am not here to fight you, but do not want to lose track of the trace I am following."

Captain America has posed:
From high up above a small shadow travels. It starts slow before picking up speed rapidly. It's little more then a black spec before it becomes all to clear that it is in fact a man, dressed head to toe in dark blue. Anyone who's read the news in the last 4 years would recognize the man even with his goggles. Captain America, Agent of SHIELD.

A single eyebrow raises as he spots the ship down below. A quick flick of his wrist and he's holding a small baton that folds out with a light glow of energy before revealing itself to be in fact a heater style shield.

It's a completely silent drop, even as he holds the shield out in front of himself, standing on it with one hand held down towards the ground. As he makes impact a small plume of air rushes out to either side of him, but there's no real sound from the force of the stop.

Without even a moments pause he kicks the shield right back into his hand and folds it up slotting it back into one of many pouches on his belt. Slowly walking forward he examines the upper deck of the ship, a single hand goes up to the side of his head.

"Add fourty to the ETA." Spoken under his breath as he adjusts his stance walking with a stoic professionalism as he leaves behind the spot he'd just come from. However in the far distance the plan he'd just evacuated from bursts into a ball of fire high in the sky, before imploding into little more then a small box that falls down towards the ocean.

Lifting up the goggles from his face cap rolls his shoulders and gets right to work, a quick glance about as he asses the situation calling over. "Toss me a sitrep." Not even taking a moments break as he gets ready to get to work.

Aquaman has posed:
"Your Majesty. We've found the... Goblin Girl. She says she's found something. It may pertain to the reason we are here in the first place."

Aquaman closes his fingers around his Trident at this news. "I'm on my way." Aquaman says to make sure that it is known that he's headed for them. He doesn't have to say not to let her get away because he's hoping to speak to her and to investigate these shenanigans at the same time.

Aquaman turns around to head towards where he knows his soldiers to be. "Captain." Aquaman doesn't seem to be phased by this arrival and appearance of Captain America. "Something's happened in my ocean. I was just on my way to find out what." Aquaman even offers a small grin as he moves to plant a hand on the Captain of America's shoulder. "Would you like to accompany me?"

Aquaman just assumes Captain America is going to be cool with it because he's already moving past him to head down below. Time to get to the bottom (ha!) of all this.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Assuming they do not stop her, Goblin-Girl follows the black thread down below decks and towards the port side of the prow...where she stops at a bulkhead. Her Auric Scanner almost makes her bump into the blasted thing...it has trouble with things that are not alive unless something is paranormal about them. She starts looking for a way to release the bulkhead to see what is behind it. She considers turning off the Auric Scanner, but if she does she will not be able to see the thread...she gets the impression that touching it may not be a great idea.

Captain America has posed:
"Wouldn't dream of missing it." Cap starts with a bit of a smile following right behind aquaman. Of course the moment he realizes there might be a foe ready and waiting he has the lid of the pouch undone so if needed he can kick the shield right into his hand and have it ready for a quick whoppin.

Keeping his eyes out for any signs of trouble he passes for a moment his hand over the suppressed 9mm pistol at his hip. The holster itself is a new addition to the costume specifically set up for this recent operation he's just coming off the tail end of.

He's walking in a comfortable enough manner but it's clear he's checking all of his corners in spite of walking as if he were untouchable. It's all just another show to cause the baddies to let their guard down... whoever they are.

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman, on the other fin, is walking like he's untouchable. He's a King. He's a Superhero. And he's pretty untouchable in a few other regards. He doesn't seem to be worried about any bad guys attacking from the shadows. He's always ready and willing to take care of business with a Aqua Punch!

"Here." Aquaman states as he comes from behind the Goblin-Girl. He puts his Trident back on his back and moves past her to get to the bulkhead. "Let me give you a hand." And with that, Aquaman applies his Aquatic Strength to the bulkhead to pick it up and get it the hell out of the way. He's Aquaman, dammit. He doesn't have time for obstacles. "After you both." is said to both the Goblin Girl and the American Captain.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Behind the bulkhead lies one of the hulls of the ship. Painted on it in what probably is dried blood (it has that color and consistancy) is a strange design. Goblin-Girl pulls out a cell phone...or is it a tablet computer? It is hard to be certain. In any case, she says, after a search "It appears to be a design from ancient Lapp tradition, a summoning of retribution. This panel apprears newer than the one above it...was this ship perhaps involved in an accident causing a major oil spill in the north sea?"

Captain America has posed:
Cap watches as the door is slid open, a hand hovering lightly above the shield pouch as he looks around the room. He can't even help himself as he speaks in unison with Goblin girl for a moment under his breath. "This is a design from ancient Lapp tradition, a summoning of retribution" The words almost syncing up as something clicks in the back of caps mind. He looks towards the symbols for a long moment as things work through his head.

Under his breath he mutters a quick history lesson on their culture and people direct from memory without even a moment spent to look the information up for himself. It's just a moment where he's slipped into the sort of informal stance of a man teaching a class on a subject he knows by heart.

It's a long moment of thought before he snaps back to himself blinking a few times. Clearly he's surprised himself with the bit of knowledge before clearing his throat slightly.

Aquaman has posed:
In these moments, the Aquaman is silent. He knows when to speak and when to listen and now is a time of listening. He's not trying to interrupt the people that apparently know what's going on here. Instead, he reaches out with his senses to see if he can get any actual scent or something from what has happened here before. He's much more aquatic in the way he searches for clues. He doesn't use The Google.

"We should push forward." is all he says though he seems to have realized he's still carrying the bulkhead. He makes sure that there's nothing or no one in the way before he tosses it aside. With ease. Aquaman's on a mission.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Sarah says, "I think, if we look, we will find a few things on the deck...and possibly below. Shark's teeth, bits of Walrus hide, pieces of bone, and straw. Someone placed a curse on this ship to summon something to take retribution on the ship...probably for an oil spill that destroyed the livelyhood of a native area in the far north. I suspect a Tupilak."

Captain America has posed:
Shaking it from his mind Cap nods back to the other two. His shield is flipped up from his side back into his hand as it unfolds out to either side in only a matter of seconds before turning to full size. "Whatever's going on here as long as we work together as a unit, it won't be a problem."

Aquaman has posed:
"Stronger together." is something that Aquaman has had to learn since becoming part of the Justice League. He's always had trouble playing nice with others but he has learned over his time with the Justice League that there are no obstacles that can't be overcome when people work together. As a unit much as the Colonel of America has said. But then he turns his attention to the Goblin Girl and frowns. "A Tupilaq?" Aquaman does not like the sound of that at all. His tone belies someone that actually understands or may even know the myth and legend behind that name. Which is why he's not a happy swimmer right now. The Trident is pulled off his back once again.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Sarah says, "We are going to need you and you men, Aquaman. A Tupilak is a magically animated construct. My guess is it is summoned when someone touches one of the black spell lines that spread out from this panel to cover the ship." She frowns behind her mask, "Odds are someone has already touched one, as they can not be seen with normal sight, so the construct will be on the way. Cap and I will need to defend the target, the construct's attacks will be focused there. Aguaman, you and your men will have to cut the cords of gut and sinew that bind the construct together under the water and literally take it apart...it is one of only two ways to stop it. The other way we can not do, as it requires the creator to make a public apology. Captain America, the others will trust uoi, please call evertone together in one place so no matter who the target is, we can try to protect them."

Captain America has posed:
"Don't worry, I'm on it." Steve rolls his shoulder for a moment a quiet crick as he gets ready to gather people together. With confidence in his stride he's already walking at a quick pace.

Steve's voice bounds off the walls of the ship as he starts speaking with all the grace and poise of a man who's done this sort of thing a million times before. "Alright, listen up people, I'm your Commanding officer now." As he hits the top deck. "I need every last one of you that isn't already working under aquaman to form up on me, we're going to head down bellow and set up a position where we can keep an eye on eachother."

And right then on the spot he goes into a speech that sounds ripped right from the pages of a film script to motivate the troops belting out his voice as he motions for everyone to go right below deck where he can keep an eye on them.

Aquaman has posed:
"You presume that I, Aquaman, Monarch of the Seas, Ruler of Atlantis am not familiar with the story of the Tupilaq. That is a mistake that you will not make again." Aquaman makes sure to drop the mic on Goblin Girl before he turns to Captain America. "No one else gets hurt." He's pretty sure Captain America was going to handle that part already but he's just making sure they are all on the same page.

"With me." Aquaman says to his men as he walks through them and quickens his pace to lead the way back up to the deck. From which there will be some epic level splashing as he leads his team into the water.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Behind her mask, Sarah nibbles on her lopwer lip. Put her foot in her mouth again. Why is it ocial skills are the hardest thing for her to learn? She joins Captain America and starts scanning the gathered people to see which of them have black threads attached. The good news is there only seem to be two. She speaks very softly asshe points out which ones, "That one there with the yellow braid on his uniform, and the officer with the blue coat. Those two will be the targets."

Captain America has posed:
"You'll have to forgive me if I still try to make sure I've got everyone together for the sake of protection." Cap offers with a bit of a smile, before moving over towards the officer with the blue coat. Leaning over he makes sure the man is alright with a quick checkover before commenting at him. "Long time no see."

Caps hand grasping onto the hand of the officer in blue and giving a firm handshake once, twice, three shakes of the hand before a light pat on the back. "Remember to tell the misses to stop worrying to much, about her cooking." He adds before Cap just goes back to rounding people up to move downstairs, organizing people in the crowd.

Aquaman has posed:
Aquaman and his Fin Friends hit the water and they are home. They all seem to be that much more alert and ready for action than they were on top of the tanker. The four Atlantean Soldiers each take a cardinal direction, their spears and weapons held at the ready. Aquaman floats in the middle, making no ripples in the water around him, but still managing to turn slowly with all of his Super-Atlantean senses on the highest of alert.

~ VUU - VUU - VUUUUUU ~

Aquaman even takes a moment to send a signal out to the marine life in the nearest radius to be on alert. Something's coming. And Aquaman is going to be ready for it.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Aquaman senses uneasieness from marine life. Something comes, it is not alive but it moves like it is alive. It is large, it smells of old death. It comes fast, faster than a normal se creature can swim without tiring.

Sarah prepares the ammo for her spring gun. She is not sure if what she has will work well, but it IS what she has. You have to make do and do your best. She has no idea how long the tupilak will taketo arrive.

Captain America has posed:
Cap slips something into his pocket from the sleeve of his uniform, while he helps people find their way bellow deck. Just for a brief moment that glint of silver potentially even hidden behind the small drip-feed of people being brought back bellow deck. He's all business but does manage to throw around a few reassuring smiles peoples way.

Aquaman has posed:
The Atlantean Soldiers are here to protect their King but to also work with him to defeat this thing. They don't exactly understand what's about to happen but Aquaman certainly has an idea as the invisible creature draws nearer. Aquaman grips the Trident tight and turns to look in the direction of where the marine life was most nervous and uneasy.

"Hold the line."

Sarah Osborn has posed:
The atlanteans soon see what is approaching. It has a huge head, like a sperm whale, and great gaping jaws, a ling snake-like neck on a buldging body with flippered limbs...not unlike a pleisiosaur in shape except the limbs have clawed feet at the end of them and the tail has a long sharp piece at the end like a narwhal's tusk. If one could look cloce one could see the stitches holding the hides it is made from together and could see the shark teeth lining the jaws and could see the unevenness between the bomes and he hides from where the straw it is stuffed with has bunched up. There may even be some holes in the hides where someone triedto shoot it.

Sarah watches the dark threads and says softly, "It is getting closer." She can see the angle is changing, it can only be a few hundred feet away by now...

Captain America has posed:
Reaching into one of several pouches of his uniform cap switches out magazines for his suppressed pistol. The second magazine has a small orange dot on the bottom of it, the rounds themselves clearly of a different design then the standard for a pistol of this caliber. He preps it into place with attention falling square on the entrance of their little choke-point. He's ready for anything, and not afraid to use these rounds if needed, as he flicks off the safety.

Aquaman has posed:
"NOW!"

Aquaman wastes no time at all in leading his soldiers into battle. Aquaman can sense no actual marine lifeforce in this creature so he comes to the realization that he's going to have to do this the hard way. He frowns but takes off in a torpedo styled swimplosion towards the construct of non-living terrification. His Trident held out in front of him as he charges the construct that has no life-force!

The Atlantean Soldiers follow behind him with their spears and other weapons sharpened and shining off the water as they rush the beast thing. They are all aiming for the stitches, of course.

Sarah Osborn has posed:
The hides the thing is made of are fairly small relative to its bulk, even though the atlanteans do damage to the stitches, it will take some time to reach the deeper layers that are the things binding the bones together. They might concentrate on one area and destroy it. Legends say there is a human skull somewhere in there that is someone who was killed by whatever caused the vengance curse to be cast. If that could be found and separated...it might cause it to became inanimate.

The head of the Tupilak pokes out of the water and slams against the hull. It seems too big to get into the area where the men are gathered. Goblin-Girl cocks her gun and fires...shooting inside the open mouth. There is a flsre of bright light as the Magnesium catches fire, Magnesium burns under water, it might even set the wet straw that protects the bones on gire.

Captain America has posed:
Cap rests his pistol against the side of his own arm for support bracing against the wall. He fires a small burst of explosive rounds towards the creature. Each one is aimed right towards the skull of the beast, and if they make impact will start to bleep bleep beep away for a few seconds before they explode with a brilliant display of fireworks from a round that'd been banned by multiple conventions. Than again when one is working with giant monsters? This thing tends to be an issue

Aquaman has posed:
The Atlanteans are trying their best but try as they might there is some serious work to be done to break this thing down. "Posiedon! Give Me Strength!" Aquaman rears back, spins and torpedo spins towards the Tupilaq. His Trident is out and in front of him, as he looks like a water-based drill with how fast he's spinning. Obviously, Aquaman feels he can bore a hole into this thing. He's got to get to that skull.

The Atlantean Soldiers hack and stab and claw to try and keep this thing distracted from their King and also to see if they can't make /some/ progress on cracking open his construct can. "For Atlantis!" "FOR ATLANTIS!"

Sarah Osborn has posed:
The magic of the Tupilak is a fairly basic curse, it is not very intelligent really. Aquaman breaks through the hide and rips through the straw to the "stomach" where the remains of the ship's crew are found. These are not the skull he is seeking though. The carved Tupilak images show a thing with a head at each end. Dinosaurs had a large nerve plexus at the base of the spine...odds are good the skull is there...

Sarah cocks her pistol and fires again, repeating as hast as she can cock and shoot. The small flaming bullets are not doing much harm, but they are not going out..and that is something. Still, it is not ENOUGH. She holsters the gun, waits until the jaw snaps shut, and frans the jaw in her hands, holding it closed. the Tupilak raises it's head and pounds Goblin-girl against the deck...but she keeps clinging and holding the jaw clamped shut.

Captain America has posed:
Cap fires off a few more rounds into the beast before his weapon clicks. Quick action sees the spent clip dropped into the pouch, and a new one slotted in this time holding a small green dot on the bottom of the clip. Spent casings are spat out instead of to the ground into a small chamber mounted to the side of the weapon. Not a single spent case ever manages to hit the floor.

"Alright, I'll be honest." Cap starts as he fires off a few rounds. "When I woke up this morning I wasn't expecting to fight a giant monster today." He pauses. "Admittedly I probably should have."

Aquaman has posed:
Those Atlantean soldiers are working double time to try and keep this thing from breaching the surface and getting to the Goblin Girl and Captain America. They have to hold the line while their Ruler is insode this thing and doing whatever it is that he's doing in there.

Aquaman keeps that Trident handy and moves about the inside of this thing. He uses all of his senses as much as possible at the same time to make sure there's not anything dangerous inisde. He's hoping the thing doesn't try to digest him or something. He doesn't even know if that's possible! "Poseidon, Guide Me." And it seems as though that Trident even starts to glow a bit as Aquaman pulls himself in the direction of that spine...

Sarah Osborn has posed:
Like many living creatures, though it is not one, the Tupilak is armored from the outside, not from the inside. It is much easier to reach the spine from inside he "stomach" than from the back. The Triden glow lwads to a spot protected by the hip pones and just below the base of the tail.

Sarah is not strong enough to really do much...especially without leverage. If she could anchor herself...possibly. As it is...all she is doing is keeping it from biting and gertting bruised every time it hits the deck. She is glad her costume is padded. Even so, she is going to be black and blue under her green and purple costume.
