Iron Man has posed:
Tony returned recently, tired and grumpy, to the mansion. He's been fighting mushroom stalks all day, and had barely gotten time to get a sandwich in. He now has one, a meatball sub, and has retreated down into the basement to one of the science labs. It's well known that he's trying to improve his apparatus and inventions to deal with not just the small stalks but larger ones as well. And so that is where he is presently, eating his sandwich and reclining in a chair, surrounded by a total mess of machinery and parts, looking through his holographic screens and making notes to JARVIS.

Until JARVIS interrupts their chat, with, "Sir, we are getting a focused tight-beam transmission."

"And it's not even my birthday -- unless it's belated," Tony says around some sandwich.

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet Van Dyne was only in an out of the way part of the lab because she wanted to know what was going on. She was in one of her many wasp outfits she had that fit her fancy. It was, iornically, one of the more functional ones she had. She'd been looking at the stalks, but not touching anything, cuz we all know touching stuff in Tony's lab is bad.

Then Jarvis speaks about the tight beam.

"Well...hopefully it's not bad. One can hope."

Thor has posed:
In the depths of the laboratory one of the holo displays flicker to life, the UI offering a steady stream of data about that tight-beam transmission just off to the side and down in the corner of the illuminated view. A small frequency adjuster flickers and twists as it tries to key into the message and bring it into better resolution.
At first it's just a hiss and blur of distorted signal, the color palette distinctly dark, but after a few moments as the adjuster works a voice comes through...
".....ssssszzStark?" More hissing and crackling, "zzzzzzTark?" The voice is easily discerned to be that of Thor for those that know him well, but then his image appears in a rapidly flickering twisting light. Behind him is an barely illuminated control room of some kind, and he looms large in the lens though his visage is haggard, what can be seen.
"zzzzzssst, Odinson. Curse this damnable thing, Stark! Can you hear me!?"

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
Carol happens to step into the room, mostly to check up if there's been any updates from the JLA folks. "Any updates on the space fungus? Kree are willing to lend a hand, but only with the lead scientist of the team, and I got some people at Xavier willing to join for all our telekinetic or telepathic needs." But then she realizes something else is transpiring at this very moment, when the holo transmission comes in. "Tony...I'd wage Thor is in serious trouble to be dealing with technology for communication."

Iron Man has posed:
Tony waves Carol down a little, in a casual 'I got this' motion. "And see you. What happened to your hair? I'll need a new nickname and everything," Tony asks, putting a bite of sandwich into his mouth and turning his attention to calibrating in on the signal. Yes, he's unconcerned for now: Thor often has some crisis, this might not be any big deal. "JARVIS, clean this up; we're not on a modem from 1994," he orders, getting a full diagnostic on the transmission, to get things more stable.

Hulk has posed:
Like Tony, Hulk has been out and about, smashing squids and helping with the occasional stalk with the rest of the Avengers. With so many popping up though, even Hulk can't be everywhere at once... and since he can't SMASH! as much as he'd like with the odd nature of the stalks, he's been kept in reserve enough to revert recently.

With some downtime after a few days of that, Bruce has been handling research on his end. He's been very busy with the big stalk, with biology testing going slow, but steady. It's around the time some chem mixing in a lab coat is going on when Thor calls in. "Huh?" Bruce turns to the source of the noise, "Is that Thor... on a monitor?"

Thor has posed:
The image, after the attention of one of Tony's AIs, snaps into clear focus almost instantly. The flicker of lights behind the Asgardian solidify into a few control banks with alien writing depicting, though the room he is in is not lit well. The man himself looks a touch grim as he's leaning on the console looking into the camera. He's bearded, hair short and trimmed as if by a mad man with a pair of clippers, but the main difference is the strapless eyepatch that covers his right eye.
"Stark, it is good to see you my friend." His tone is steady, solemn. "I come and I bear ill tidings. I am aboard the ship in orbit. We are the survivors of Asgard..." His brow knits and he takes a moment as he tries to order things, then he adds after a moment. "Ragnarok has come and passed. We are all that is left." It is said finally, sharply, as if making peace with the fact.

Slipstream has posed:
Heading into the basement is Drake, having caught wind of some of the familiar voices after a quick stop into the medlab nearby. He is wearing a black tactical backpack with Snowball peeking out from it, as well as a pair of relaxed jeans with some destroy in the knees and a olive green Overwatch shirt. "Hey guys. What's up?" He asks, then pauses at the sight of the others, then cants his head to Thor's recordings.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"Turns out his godly powers evolved to include using everyday communication tech like the rest of us," Carol concurs with Bruce's wonderment, "pretty impressive. But also alarming, I think we're dealing with serious trouble here." She then notes the eyepatch and blinks, "scratch that. Something is beyond very wrong, who in the heck took Thor's eye?" But as JARVIS clears the transmission per Tony's request, she looks decidedly less comfortable. "Ok, scratch that too. What in the heck took out Asgard!?"

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
"That is....like Armageddon for you guys, isn't it?" Jan says with a blunt tone, before looking to Captain Marvel. "this sounds serious." She then makes a face. "I can't exactly get to space though. Aren't the Quinjets space ready? Or are they down cuz of the spore problem?"

Iron Man has posed:
Tony refers to the information streaming in to him about the ship in orbit, the connection itself, and everything else he can scrape together quickly. "I'm only seeing a few thousand with you, Thor," Tony asks, slowly. All fun and teasing has slid out of his tone. The seriousness of what is being conveyed has grounded all of that for the moment.

"Let's attend to the living first. What do you need from /us/?" Tony asks, direct, and to the point, jaw tightening. He puts his sandwich aside, to stand up, and approach the monitors, well aware of where the camera for his end is located, to be front and center. "Because we'll make it happen."

Hulk has posed:
"Aren't Alpha Flight handling space based matters, Tony?" Bruce starts to walk over to the monitor, taking a look at the same data Tony is, "I'd prefer to not get the UN on our case over this, especially if those are Asgardian survivors."

Bruce purses his lips as he considers, "Last I checked on them, the Quinjets were doing fine. We might need to replace their filters if we take them up into orbit, though."

Thor has posed:
Catching Carol's words off to the side, Thor answers, "The enemies of Asgard, Surtur..." He seems like he might say more but then he shakes his head and shifts his attention to Wasp albeit briefly, "Spores?" He furrows his brow and goes on after Tony speaks. "Our numbers are few, and our supplies low. We need food. Repairs."
"I shall remain aboard, for I am loathe to leave my people vulnerable. We need to set down somewhere if possible, but before that can be done we shall need to speak with the people of Midgard." He straightens up and turns to the side, looking across the room at something. When he looks back he frowns. "There are those here whose injuries surpass the healers who remain. Whatever can be done, I will be grateful."
He holds up a hand and says firmly, "My time is short, the communicator takes too much power."

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"You are absolutely correct, Bruce," Carol interjects, "but as Director of Alpha Flight, I think you can consider Alpha Flight's full support should the U.N. get bored enough to inquire. I'll mobilize what Alpha Flight can offer in aid of the Asgardians in space." Luckily Alpha Flight is actually well equipped to provide food, power, and water. The space station should do to house the refugees for starters. "We've got your back, Thor, don't worry, buddy. Transmit your coordinates, we'll see to it you get the support you need!"

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Janet van Dyne says, "I'll see what I can see about getting the filters for the Quinjets. We just.....need to get people up to Thor and his people now." She then looks to Bruce. "Can you help me out, Bruce? I don't know which filters you meant earlier.""

Slipstream has posed:
Lifting a hand to wave to Thor through the camera, Drake shoves his free hand into his pocket. He stays quiet for now, just listening to the A team. He stubs his foot against the ground, brows pinching in thought.

Iron Man has posed:
"I didn't mean going up there personally without Alpha Flight, but working with them," Tony answers Bruce evenly. He immediately flashes Carol a very clear meaningful look of making THAT happen as quickly as possible. And obviously relieved with her speaking up for Alpha Flight and getting those things taken care of.

"Exactly. We'll look into those needs, and get that in motion," Tony assures Thor.

"You need to know, there's another thing up there with you. A fungal monstrosity, as big as a starship, part of a plague of them we're suffering down here. So far it's dormant. How is your maneuverability on that ship?" Tony asks. "You might want to prioritize repairs on that. I'm seeing some engine flaws off what I can scan from you. None of this will matter if it comes for you and you can't move. I think I see some reroute patterns I can suggest. Sending that. Save your power, we'll get you reserves sent, and keep open emergency channels, flux your interior aft shields to signal me --- us--- if you have an emergency and can't communicate."

Wasp (van Dyne) has posed:
Jan hasn't left the room yet, as tony relays the information. Jan then spots drake as he waves, and she nudges Drake. "Hey. Come on. We're going to need all the help we can get. So help me find those filters for the quinjets!"

Hulk has posed:
"I can head up to offer what medical aid I can, assuming your people are anything resembling our biology." Bruce offers immediately upon hearing Carol interject, "I can also help with repairs after I have time to take a look at how your systems are designed. I'll head up as soon as possible."

Thor has posed:
"You will all have my thanks." The image starts to flicker and fade a bit as Thor remains in central view, his good eye shifting to each person in time as they speak then focusing fully on Tony. When word is mentioned of the monstrosity his brows knit and he frowns. "Dark tidings, Stark. Our ship can maintain position but maneuverability is low." He gives a solemn nod towards Carol and Tony then he says, "There is a docking bay to the rear of the ship... will try and..." But then his voice begins to fade and flicker with the image distorting.
Thor can be seen turning to the side and saying something as the audio cuts, but his image twists around then collapses on itself. The signal flat-lines down in the corner diagnostic sensor and then the display shows in bright letters, /SIGNAL LOST/ across the center of the screen.

Slipstream has posed:
Drake offers a half-guarded smile at the nudge. "Oh, sure thing, Miss Dyne." He isn't sure if he's on a first name basis with the winsome Wasp just yet. The eSport champ turned superhero pushes off his foot and heads after her. "Do I actually get to go with you guys this time or am I still mopping the floors?" He says with a grin.

Captain Marvel (Danvers) has posed:
"I'll go mobilize Alpha Flight," Carol remarks, and in a flash, leaving a gust of wind in her wake, she's out of there. Tony will definitely appreciate that kind of exit in his lab.

Iron Man has posed:
"JARVIS, I want everything available on 'Ragnarok', and open summaries for any Avenger to access. Let's catch up everyone on what this is. I'm going to dive into those ship readings I've gotten: that wasn't an Asgardian ship," Tony says, rubbing his forehead with one hand. And returning to his sandwich, to pick it up and abandon the plate. "Bruce, we have some good medical from what we can see from here, if you want it, and we still have that monster fungus to do something about. The Kree gave us some data on it I haven't looked at yet, via Carol here---," Tony says, gesturing from Carol towards Bruce. Except then Carol's gone. Well. "If we can knock that thing out, they'll have more time up there, too. Take a look if you can, if it's an easy solve, let's prioritize it."
