A song for Xavier
Date of Scene: 23 June 2018
Location: Xavier's School
Synopsis: Mason comes to try to get Andrea to break curfew, they end up doing a duet for the Headmaster instead.
Cast of Characters: Mason Steele, Rage, Professor X, Twitch, Wolverine

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason is bored. That's never a good sign. Tyler was busy. He was done working on his summer class for Julliard. He didn't want to hang with groupies, and it's way too early for a boozing party. So he texted Andrea to see if she wanted to hang out. It was starting to be more common for him to see her, he was less resistant than he had been initially. But what's this nonsense about a curfew? He pulls up the circle drive in his Ferrari with the top down, sunglasses on.

Rage has posed:
Sitting on the front steps is Andrea, wearing a pair of shorts that are /short/, with destroy along the pockets and front, as well as a thin strapped tank top that cuts off a little bit above the hem of her shorts. When the Ferrari rolls up, she tilts her chin upwards and lets out an amused snort under her breath. "Can't you drive /anything/ less attention grabbing?" She calls over once he cuts out the engine.

Mason Steele has posed:
"Yeah," Mason says. "I //can//." The emphasis is as if the unspoken half of the phrase is 'don't want to.' "How many cars you expect me to own, anyway?" He nods over. "So you getting in or what?"

Rage has posed:
"Uh, at least two. No, I'm not getting in. I can't leave the school. None of us can. We're on total lock down and any freedom we woulda had went poof last night after Tommy and Tyler left school grounds to fight deadly space mushrooms. Which I'm gonna have to talk to Miss Grey about and try to smooth it over." Andrea plants her elbows on the top of her knees. "Just hang out here with me."

Mason Steele has posed:
"You're already essentially grounded," Mason says, laying his head back on the top of the car seat. "What else can they do to you? They gonna kick you out just cuz you left for a bit? This is the place you want me to come go to school? The place where I am stuck on campus all the time? Totally lame. Come on, I was gonna show you Julliard. You know you want to check it out."

Rage has posed:
"We're only stuck here until the Reavers are dealt with, and then we can go back to normal." Andrea assures as she gives a raise of her brow. "What makes you think I haven't been to Juilliard? I actually applied there riiiight up until I found you were accepted." She says with a tuck of hair behind her ear. "You know, due to the before. Anyways, I don't want Miss Grey to get mad. She has Tyler cleaning toilets and stuff. Do you think I can handle toilets? No way. I'm sitting here, like a good team leader."

Mason Steele has posed:
"Team leader?" Mason echoes. "You? So you let all of your 'team mates'" he says making air quotes "get in trouble and you didn't help get them out of it?" He slides his shades down his nose. "I would //love// to see you try to clean a toilet," he adds. "I think it would make my life complete."

Rage has posed:
"I'm going to help them get out of it as soon as I speak with Miss Frost, before I speak with Miss Grey and plead their case." Andrea says as she smirks. "You coming over here or what?" She asks as she scoots over to make room on the porch.

Mason Steele has posed:
"I'm trying to be a bad influence," Mason answers, staying in his seat in the car. "Come on. Okay, how about that country club? That's just down the road. They got a great baby grand, played it the other day. Was sick. Perfectly tuned."

Rage has posed:
"Our music room here is top of the line, sound proofed with pretty much the most expensive instruments and acoustics a billionaire can buy. We could record a song together in there." Andrea grins at him. "You're not gonna get me in trouble, Mason. I'm a good girl, smart. Not dumb like your groupies. Sides, I need hugs. Gimmie."

Mason Steele has posed:
"And modest," Mason adds. "Ya, like you have different groupies than I do," he says. "Groupies can be smart, they're just...pack mentality, you know?" He undoes his seat belt, and hops up onto the seat, leaping over the passenger side of the car and landing on the pavement. "State of the art huh. Why would they even have a sound room like that here? Isn't it supposed to be to teach mutants their powers? Where would they get money to blow on something they aren't even known for?"

Rage has posed:
"Uh .. Dazzler used to go here, dude." Andrea says with a snort. "She was faculty, and just because mutants are here to learn their powers, doesn't mean they should be held back from having goals, aspirations and dreams. Mutant students are still normal students." She twitches her lips upwards at him. "Your groupies want to have sex with you. My groupies just want to take pictures of me and sign their shirts."

Mason Steele has posed:
"You're making that up," Mason accuses regarding Dazzler. "But let me get this straight. I can know who my groupies are by who wants to bone me..." He taps his chin thoughtfully. "And my groupies are dumb..." he taps his chin thoughtfully some more, then smiles. No further comment is made on the line of thought. "And you don't know that a lot of those groupies might also want to get down and dirty with you. I mean, it's 2026."

Rage has posed:
"Ok, first of all dipshit, I'm not making it up. Allison Blaire was faculty here. She was also a part time Avenger. I'm obsessed with her, don't poke this bear here. I will Wikipedia the shit out of you, and yes, your groupies are dumb. I will literally pull up videos of your fans going ballistic over you, talking 'bout how they're gonna marry you and have your babies and blah blah blah. My fans don't do that. If anyone says those things, those are perverts, not fans. Come on, you know the difference." She says scowlingly at him.

Mason Steele has posed:
"If you say so," Mason answers, swiping a finger down tap her on the nose. "Let's see this super music room." He walks up past her and opens the door, motioning for her to go first. "Ladies first."

Rage has posed:
Andrea pushes up to her feet, then follows after him. Once she passes, she waits for him to enter before reaching out and snagging him by the hand. With a toothy grin, she says, "Gotta make sure the girls here know who you belong to." She leans in to kiss him for a quick peck, then heads inside. "Come on."

Mason Steele has posed:
"Ugh, groupies," Mason teases in response to the peck with a grin. "This place is pretty fancy, looks like it's some old castle though, like we should be in Victorian England or something."

Rage has posed:
"Yeah, it's like Oprah huge." Andrea says as she squeezes his hand as they walk through the hallways until they find the music room. She opens it up and leads him into the high end studio with sound proofing along the walls. There is numerous instruments set up, as well as a grand piano. There is even a recording box with a high end mic dropped down from the ceiling with a pop filter attached to it. "Ta da!" She says as she gives a motion of her hand.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason goes to the mircophone. "Rode?" he says, arching his brow. As he walks through the room, examining it critically. "Okay," he admits, "You got me, it's not a bad setup." He sits down at the piano, and plays a few bars of music that run the keys pretty thoroughly, and shows off his dexterity with the 88. "In tune, that's a plus." He slides around on the bench to face Andrea. "I stand corrected. Feel better?"

Rage has posed:
"Told you it's beautiful." Andrea says as she gives a smile as she watches him play the guitar. "I always feel better when I prove you wrong." She says as she ruffles up his blonde hair with her fingers. "You wanna sing with me?" She asks as she gives a motion to the studio. A pair of popstars in a high end music studio?

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason straightens his hair following the ruffle. "Yeah, I bet you do." He spins around to the piano. "Why not? It's been a while I guess," he says. A long while, actually. He starts to strike a few chords, one after another, and he taps his sandals off his feet so that he is barefoot for the pedals rather than using the floppy thongs.

Professor X has posed:
Wheeling into the Classroom would be the Headmaster, Charles Xavier! The old fellow has a smile on his face as he investigates the happenings of the school. Offering Andrea and Mason kind smiles all around. "Why hello students. Working hard at playing the sweet sounds of music, I presume?" Of course, he would never suspect them to be messing around.

Nooooope.

Regardless, the Professor wheels himself closer until he's close enough to adequately hear their music as well as have a standard conversation without being so far away.

Rage has posed:
If Xavier is up on popmusic at all, he would see that Andrea and Mason are currently most likely two of the top five highest grossing and popular young artists of the current generation. With Mason on the piano and Andrea picking up a guitar, she begins to play a familiar tune the two of them used to sing together. Jet Lag. At least until she hears the words of Xavier. "Oh, hello Professor! I haven't had a chance to meet you yet. Wow. Mason, this is Professor Xavier. He runs the entire school and owns the building."

Twitch has posed:
It's been a day. Tyler's been sneaking off to study between classes so it won't cut into his after school cleanup duty. Finally, when he gets some free time and heads towards the rec room to grab a coke and a snack in the hopes that it'll help him concentrate better on what he's trying to learn. That's when he hears the tunes coming from the music room and opens the door, sticking his head inside to see what's going on in there. Upon seeing Mason and Andrea he cracks a smile, then follows it up with a wave. When he spots the old fellow Tyler straightens up, recognizing him from pictures around the school. "Hello sir." He then greets his friends again, "Hey guys. Just heard the music and wanted to poke my head in."

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason glances over, spotting Xavier. "Oh, hey there sir," he says, a smile on his face as if the world is his oyster. "Nice place you got here. Rode mircophones, they are the best, you know." he motions inspecifically at some of the microphones set up, taking one hand off the 88 for a moment. While he is known by most for his pop music, Mason is also known among more cultured circles for being a remarkable pianist, having done recordings of some rather challenging piano pieces very well.
He puts his fingers back on the keys. "Oh, that one, huh? he asks, "Hey Tyler. Wow, we are drawing an audience already," he comments.

Professor X has posed:
the Professor smiles lightly to Andrea. He knows very little about pop rock music and culture, but some songs he still listens to. Hers is one of them! "A pleasure, Ms. Jackson. It's nice to finally meet you. I do enjoy your music." He says with a warm smile before his attention ultimately shifts to Mason! "Ah, and Mr. Steel. How are we both today, perchance? I hope you are both well?" the warmth and roll of his voice is unbelievably charismatic. Itm ust be an old person thing.

Though as Tyler Grant arrives, the Professor seems to know he was there before he actually showed up! "Ah, Mr. Grant. Good afternoon, young man. How are you?"

Twitch has posed:
"I heard someone start playing and thought I'd come say 'hi'," Tyler explains as he moseys on into the room, looking around to see if anyone else happens to be present. When the professor greets him Tyler replies with, "I'm doing well, Professor. How are you?" He strolls deeper into the room and grabs a seat for himself, "Do you guys mind if I hang out for a little bit? I've been studying between classes and I need to take a break."

Rage has posed:
"I don't mind if you want to hang out. Mason and I was just going to .. ah .. see if we still got it." Andrea gives a grin to her ex Disney star turned fellow chart topper. "I mean, I know I still have it, seeing how my album just went quadruple platinum." She goads a bit as she runs her fingers along the strings of her guitar. "Want me to take the lead or do you think you can handle it?"

Mason Steele has posed:
"Up to you, miss quadruple platinum," Mason says. "Yeah, we're good here," Mason says. "Just dropped by to say hi around here. I'm in the city taking some prep classes at Julliard. So... you own this place or something?" he asks. "Because I gotta say, it's a really nice house."

Professor X has posed:
Charles finds himself smiling, despite Andrea's minor boasting of her achievements. Don't try to compare and contrast Charles Xavier! Though that would be an interesting conversation, no lie about that. Then his eyes find Mason. "I see, I see. Yes, I am the owner of this fine building and all the grounds that belong to it under my name." he smiles as it's complimented. "Why thank you. I tried to make it comfortable for everyone." though he seems to look at Mason for a moment. "If I may, young Mr. Steele, I'd like to speak with you later."

Then he looks to BOTH Mason and Andrea! "Well, I would love to hear your music. Try to be a bit on the loud side, for I'm old...my hearing isn't as good as it used to be." he says with a bit of old-fashioned humor. Though his eyes then shift to Tyler as he asks permission to just hangout. "So long as you don't have a class within the next hour or so, I don't mind it. By all means, stay and listen to what they have to play." The old headmaster then clasps his hands over his lap, clearly very interested in what will be played.

He has and always will be a lover of the arts.

Wolverine has posed:
Standing outside the door, Logan is evesdropping on the Professor and his comments. Peeking around the corner, he leans against the side of the door frame, and crosses his arms across his chest, trying not to make a sound. Looking at everyone inside, his eyes glance over everyone, and he sniffs, absently. At least this time he wasn't smoking a cigar or drinking a beer.

Logan is currently wearing a white t-shirt under a brown leather jacket, cowboy hat and boots, and a pair of jeans, blue of course.

Twitch has posed:
"Thanks sir," Tyler says to Professor Xavier before he goes to grab a chair, pulling it up towards where his friends are getting ready to play. He sits down in it smoothly, taking another look around when he does so. "I've only got me last class left. After that it's time to do chores." A faint sigh escapes from him before he shuts up to listen to the music.

Rage has posed:
"Fine, fine .." Andrea says with a grin to Mason as her fingers begin to strum a bit lighter on the strings of her instrument. She begins to sway side to side to feel the groove of the acoustics as she nods her head for Mason to follow suit. She is choosing a single off her album, a very popular one that ran along the charts for a while. New Love. It has a bit of a Fleetwood Mac feel to it, one that compliments a piano as well.

"I've lost my head, I've lost my way.
Trying to find what I can't replace.
Three litle words .. I heard you saaa-aaaay!

"I'm not looking for New Love, you are all I needed,
I thought you said it was true love, but now you won't repeat it!
I'm not looking for New Love, you are all I needed ... "

As she sings, her pure voice with a hint of rasp soars through the sound proofed room, trapping it perfectly as she leans into the microphone in front of her.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason looks slightly worried at Professor X's request to see him later, but answers as if there is nothing wrong. "Uh, sure thing," he says, masking the worry with another smile. As Andrea begins, he picks up the background vocals, since he isn't near a microphone, and those who know the song will know he's certainly putting his own background spin on the accompaniment. His voice comes through clear and crisp, the keys singing to his fingers command through the song as his bare toes demand the chords to hang in place.

Professor X has posed:
The Professor nods to Mason. "Excellent. Don't worry, it's nothing bad." He teases the young man before the music starts to play! He sits happily, listening to the music as his eyes often drift between Mason and Andrea as they play in perfect harmony. "A beautiful song, no?" he speaks to Tyler and inadvertently, Logan.

Though he only looks to Tyler after perhaps a few minutes. "But of course. and wonderful."

Finally, the Professor looks to logan and the elderly man offers the Wolverine a friendly smile. "Hello Logan. Come join us?"

Wolverine has posed:
Watching the group get together, and then start to play, Logan stays leaning against the doorframe, and nods. Smiling, slightly, he nods to the tune, and his expression belies that he might, actually be enjoying it. After all, they say that music soothes the savage beast. Maybe, just maybe, Logan may even be humming the tune to himself a bit. Not that he was EVER in tune...

STaying in the background though, Logan enjoys the show. Trying to remain "ninja" quiet, he takes it all in, and doesn't say a word. Until the Professor chimes in. With a grumble, Logan says, "Naw, just listenin'. Great stuff." Logan nods, and pulls the cowboy hat a little lower over his eyes.

Twitch has posed:
While Andrea and Mason put on their show Tyler watches them closely, looking from one musician to the other. Without meaning to he begins to bob his head up and down in time with the music, finding himself getting into the sound. As the music plays and the professor asks him a question about the quality of the song Tyler grins and looks towards the older man, nodding his head. "Yeah. It's really good."

The sound of a voice from behind him as Logan speaks causes Tyler to turn his head around in a speedy sort of twitch to identify it's source. When he sees the grizzled Canadian he nods his head and says, "Hello Mr. Logan."

Rage has posed:
As she rocks back and forth in front of the microphone with her guitar, Andrea croons through the lyrics as she casts a side look to Mason as he sings along with her. Their vocals harmonize perfectly as they've always have when they toured together. As always, she casts her emotions through this particular song as it holds a hint of history behind the lyrics.

"Now that you've left, I feel the same.
My empty bed calls out your name!
Oooh.. how could you forget? How could you chaaaaaaaaange?

I'm not looking for New Love! You're all I needed,
Thought you said it was /true/ love, but now you won't repeat it!
I'm not looking for New Love! You were all I neeeeeeeeded...

I've searched all night and all the day,
To see if I could re-create,
The love we had .. oh what a waaaaa--aaasste!"

As the instruments come to a peak together, they taper away for her to breathe out into the microphone, her voice soft and filled with pain.

"I'm not looking for New Love ... you were all I needed..."

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason joins for the vocal finish, harmonizing with Andrea as they reach the end.

"Been down one time, been down two times,
Ain't never goin back again!

Been down one time, been down two times,
Ain't never goin back again!"

Mason repeats the line a few times closing out the song. He steps off the pedal finally, and spins around on the smoth black bench. He reaches his toes under the bench, idly searching blindly for his sandals. "That's a good piano," he says. "Very good piano."

Professor X has posed:
Xavier smiles to Logan. "Are you sure? You might here it better from here." he teases him lightly before he continues to listen to the music. As Mason finishes playing, he smiles. "Bravo, Bravo." He claps, though he does sense that pain-filled sound in her voice, and he becomes concerned, but he never lets it show.

"It is. I tried playing it once, but I could never quite get it right." he laughs lightly, but nevertheless, he seems happy to watch. No wonder these two were selling albums and the like.

They were very good!

If they have more to play, the Professor is more than happy to remain and listen. Apparently he has a great deal of time on his hands and he doesn't have to teach a class for a little bit yet.

Wolverine has posed:
Logan nods towards Tyler, and says, "Hey kid." Logan then looks up and watches as Andrea and Mason continue. Not wanting to interrupt, Logan nods his head. Once. Twice. Was that to the beat? Naw, it was an illusion. His vague smile widens, ever so slightly, as he might just enjoy the show. "Not bad..." He mouths, softly.

"I'm sure Professor." Logan says, trying not to interrupt. "I'm good, thanks." Logan looks around and with a tap of his cap, "Actually, ah'm prob'ly interrupting. Excuse me. Amazing work, all of you." With that, he turns, and heads back down the hall, as quiet as when he arrived.

Twitch has posed:
When the song ends Tyler sits still, absorbed by what he just listened to and left more or less just staring at Andrea. After some time, however, he returns to being a functional person and shakes his head quickly to clear it when the professor claps his hands. Tyler joins in as well, smiling a big grin at his friends, "I think that's the first time I ever intentionally listened to your guys's music. It was really good." As Logan declares that he's leaving Tyler turns to him and says, "Take care. You mind if I come by your office later?"

Wolverine has posed:
Turning back for a quick moment, Logan nods, and says, "Sure. I'm usually in the garage. Find me, and we'll chat." Turning away, Logan then disappears into the mansion.

Rage has posed:
Leaning back from the microphone, Andrea lets out a soft breath as she reaches up with one hand to brush the back of her knuckles against the corner of her eye. "Thank you." She says into the mic once she dips herself forward, then puts the guitar back on to the rack gently.

Mason Steele has posed:
"I've been doing it since I was really small," Mason says. "So I've had a little practice," he says. He knows he's good, but he opts not to rub it in by bragging about it. "So, you made this whole place," he says again to the professor. "Started it yourself? For...you know..." he doesn't say mutant, but that's what he means to say, as if he should still be quiet about the matter here. Force of habit.

Professor X has posed:
Xavier smiles lightly to Logan as he vanishes into the Mansion, before he looks to Tyler. "Something tells me you and Logan will get along splendidly." he nods in encouragement to Tyler! Nevertheless, his attention falls upon Andrea and Mason, though his focus is thoroughly placed on the latter. "In a manner of speaking. When I was a young man, I inherited this place once my parents decided to..move on, as it were." he doesn't get specific. Did something happen?

"But I made this place with the intention of being a school for gifted youngsters. It serves as not only my home, but a home for a great many like you, Mr. Steele." Yes, he knows he's a mutant. Of course he does!

"But yes, it is a school for mutants, if that's what you're asking. A safe place where none will bother them and they can, ultimately, get an education." He smiles to him. "You don't need to be shy about it here, Mr. Steele." he teases him lightly like a grandpa would.

Mason Steele has posed:
"Me?" Mason answers, his thoughts becoming suddenly centrally focus upon panic. "Oh, not me, I'm just visiting Andrea. I'm not part of the school." He gives a glance her direction, slightly accusatory.
He hops up from the bench, finding his second sandal, then turning back to the professor. "But it's great, I think mutants need a place where they can be safe and stuff," he says quickly. "I gotta beat, have a rehearsal and stuff," he explains, "But I will catch you guys later, Ty, Andy, Teach. Take care." He only scarcely waits long enough for a return farewell before he makes his way out of the classroom.
