Cast of Characters: Rogue, Zhao Lin

Rogue has posed:
It was around 9pm and Rogue had finished her work at the Avengers Mansion, she was taken some summer classes at NYU also but those were all cake courses, so she was just hanging out at the Mansion. She'd decided to watch a movie, but before hand wanted to go pick up a pizza to bring back... have a slice or two and then stuff it in the fridge for the week ahead. Pizza leftovers are the best kind, right?

So here on this lovely summer night, Rogue is walking down the side walk in Manhattan... a few cars going by here and there and a few people passing by in the other direction also.

She's wearing a pair of black jeans shorts with green stockings on beneath them that go up to just beneath the shorts hem so just a inch or so of her thighs peak out. She's got a black tanktop on and a white scarf around her neck. She stands out, for sure, and it sometimes gets her attention from people on the streets, but she comes packed with a lot of 'don't mess with me' powers and a growing Street Cred to back it up.

Rogue's got her phone out and is thumbing at the screen.

Zhao Lin has posed:
It's been a while since anyone has so much as heard from Zhao Lin. The martial artist has been MIA and nobody has been able to find him. It just so happens that he's been hiding in plain sight, living among the homeless in Manhatten, since it's an element he's very familiar with. Once again dressed in his more ragged clothing, Zhao Lin sits on the ground, leaned up against the wall of the pizza place Rogue is headed towards. He's got his canteen in his hands, resting in his lap. He's wrapped in a ragged brown cloak, the hood up to hide most of his features. His head is bowed, and whether he's paying attention to the street or napping there is hard to say.

Of course, with Rogue paying attention to her phone, even if she moves to step around the homeless man seated on the sidewalk, it would be easy for her to neglect the unexpected tail that lays near his feet. It gets stepped on, and there's a startled yowl from Zhao Lin, and he jerks to sit upright! He sways a little, and says in his thick Chinese accent, "Hey!" One hand lifts to unsteadily point in Rogue's general direction. "Watch where you are going," he demands with a hint of a drunken slur.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue is generally very attentive of where she's going and what she's doing, since her skin is so dangerous to the touch. But with her minds on a text message from a school mate she's barely able to even take note of the fact that she's about to step on a tail!

And then she's being shouted at after realizing she'd just stepped on SOMEONE. She jumps to the side and looks down to him. "Ah'm sorry! Ah'm sorry!" She says quickly, urgencny thick on her voice. "I didn't see ya there!"

A couple of people coming out of the pizza place glance at the two of them but keep on moving in the other direction.

Rogue looks up and then back down to the leopard. She couldn't forget him, she'd bumped into him twice in the past year and he... kind of sticks out in a crowd. "Hey..." She says then, heart rate still elevated from the sudden adrenaline.

"You're... Zhoa, right?" She asks, pointing at him now with her free (gloved) hand. "Dang, I haven't seen you since... like Halloween!" Rogue notes him homelessly-resting on the ground more noteably now.

"Are you okay?" She asks him then. "Do you remembe'ah me?"

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin lifts his head finally when Rogue seems to recognize him, and his furry eyebrow arches slightly. He blinks at her without recognition for a moment, but then a broad grin spreads across his muzzle. "Marie!" he recalls, and when he says her name, he sounds a note less intoxicated than when he was scolding her for stepping on his tail. He's up on his feet rather easily, and he lifts a hand to brush his hood back and reveal his face fully. Despite his clothes being a bit of a tattered mess, his fur seems fairly clean. It's apparent that the homeless appearance is more of a ruse, perhaps, than at first sight. He opens his arms wide, still grinning broadly. "How've you been?" he asks her, clearly pleased to see her.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue crosses her arms over her stomach and her gloved hands hold onto her either of her covered elbows. She watches him as he moves to rise up and stand before her and she keeps a faint smile on her face because she's happy to see him, he was always amusing and fun to be around on the previous encounters. "I'm gooooood." She says to him then, her tone filled with amusement and a bit of that teasing style he may remember from her. "You waitin' for someone t'offer ya some free pizza?" She asks him then, "Cause I was just headed in there... so this might be your lucky night." She laughs softly then. "You been just hangin' around the streets ever since I last seen ya?" She asks then, sounding a bit more concern then for him.

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin pauses for a moment, still grinning. "I was waiting for a hug first, but I will take a pizza if you are offering," he tells her. He finally drops his arms, though, and shrugs his shoulders. "I have been keeping busy," he tells her, "My friend Lara has been away on business-" Which is what she told him to tell people before she took off on some undercover whatever in some other part of the world. "-So I have been pursuing my own ends." He glances away from her briefly, then clears his throat. He leans in a little closer to her, and adds, "We should talk more inside, though. I have been trying to... uh, what do they say, lay low?" He grins to her again, and gestures wiht one hand towards the door of the pizzaria.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue laughs softly at the hug part. She then uncrosses her arms and lifts up her wrists to display them. "No bracelet." She says. Her gloves only go up to her elbows and since she's got a tanktop on that means the rest of her upper arms are exposed and super scary deadly skin! "Hugs are dangerous with this southern flower, ya know." She gives him another little sassy grin and then reaches her right hand up to brush some of her white hair out of her face. "Oh, right, yeah." She says about laying low and talking inside. She moves past him then and pulls the door open to walk into the place, holding it easily open for him since it weighs nothing to the young Avenger. She'll then pull her white scarf off from around her neck and drape it over her shoulders so her bare skin is a bit more blocked off from people bumping into her inside, though there's nobody IN the place at this hour except them and a couple of employees behind the counter.

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin flashes her another broad grin as he follows her inside. "I would wager it worth the risk," he tells her, "But I suppose better safe than sorry." He unties his cloak, pulling it off and tossing it over the back of a chair near the door. He doesn't particularly mind if it gets swiped, since he likely swiped it from someone anyway some time ago. He seems to take care to keep a bit of distance from the counter itself, on account of being covered in hair. "I am curious," he asks her, folding his arms while he stands there swaying slowly, "Your bracelets, are they some kind of magic?" His brow arches slightly, again. "They seem like old magic." He doesn't seem to pay much mind to the employees, perhaps expecting Rogue to order since, after all, she's buying.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue had already placed and paid for the order before she even got here. She only came here to pick it up and get outside to walk a bit. So when she gets to the counter she smiles at the employee and has a brief exchange before she's got her pizza box and is turning around to look back at Zhao again. "The bracelet, only got the one'a them and I haven't worn it in awhile. Last time I tried t'charge it it didn't hold a charge." She walks over toward where he set his jacket down and looks back at him. "Its just fancy science though, like a phone... or a tv or somethin'. They're based on some really hard t'find collars that nullifying a mutants powers." Her eyes center on his own. "Like if you wore it, you'd probably shift back inta your human form... I mean, you started human, right?" She wasn't sure actually.

Zhao Lin has posed:
Lin shakes his head, and shrugs his shoulders. "To my knowledge, I was born this way. I do not know -what- would happen to me if I were to wear something like that." He chuckles again, and pulls out one of the chairs, sinking down into it a little heavily, still putting on a bit of a show that he's intoxicated. "Perhaps I would simply become sober," he jests with a lopsided grin. "I have heard of those collars though," he says with a nod, "They sound very..." He pauses, looks away, frowning a moment. "Unpleasant." Back to Rogue, though, Zhao Lin chuckles again. "I have made a point of avoiding people who are in favor of using them. They are not the sort of people I prefer to associate with."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue laughs softly as she sits across from him at the table and pulls out some napkins. She takes her gloves off then, one after the other which leaves her arms full bare beneath the elbows now. "Have as much pizza as ya'd like, Drunky." She teases him with a little grin, opening the lid on the box up for him. Its a supreme pizza, and it has pineapples... so beware of Rogue's taste in pizza!

"The collars... yeah, they're... not a very good look, fashion wise." She shakes her head side to side. "I've only ever seen pictures of them though, thankfully." She pauses then. "Well, I mean, I guess I seen some from afar once... back when I was, well, a year ago or so." She leaves that kind of vague, but hey thats an X-Men member for you, or a former one anyway.

"They hold a indefinite charge though! Which is more than the measley four hours I could get out of that bracelet I had. Now I don't even know if it holds a charge at all now." She smirks then at him. "So much for livin' a normal life like everyone else, right?"

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin is familiar with keeping things vague. It's one of those things that's commonplace among people who keep secrets, and Zhao Lin is well aware that Rogue is no exception. He waits for her to grab some pizza, before picking up a slice himself. He takes a moment to pick away the bits of pineapple, though he doesn't outright complain about it. "I have never seen any of them either, but I have heard of them." He takes a bite of the pizza, though he barely chews it before swallowing the chunk he bit off. He's silent for a moment while he eats the rest of the slice in much the same manner. "I would help if I knew how," he tells her, "I am not exactly the most... scientific-minded person." Case in point, he takes a drink from his canteen. "Perhaps we could find one of these collars, and you could use the power source for your bracelet?" His brow arches curiously once more.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue goes about enjoy the dinner she'd ordered for herself while listening to him and showing a slight grin at the first bit of what he says. She nods her head two quick and small times before responding about the rest. "Possibly." She tells him. "They're usually found around Mutant slavers. Which goes on all around us, I mean like... in -every- country. They capture the low level mutants that have powers they believe they can exploit somehow... use the collars to break their wills then put them t'work. The dirty bastards." She shows him a faint smirk before shaking her head. "I'd be liable to bust a bunch Slavers into tiny little fleshy bits if I ran across some though, with or without any Null-Collars."

Rogue grins at him then. "If you need a place t'crash, I ain't usin' my dorm room. Its down in Greenwich Village, but I can snag the key t'it for ya if you want a place t'lay your head that ain't hte side of a pizza joint. Key's back at the Avengers place."

Rogue then opens her eyes wider as she realizes. "Oh! Right! I'm an Avenger now!" She grins once again. "They pay me t'beat people up.... bad people, but still!"

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin grins around a mouthful of pizza. "Yeah, I saw you on the TV," he tells her, "Not for long, but I noticed. Sounds like a really nice gig." He chuckles and his tail gives a small twitch. There's another lift of his brow though, as he considers. "Dorm room, hm? Hope it's a co-ed dorm, that might be kind of awkward otherwise." He chuckles again. "It would be nice to have a place to hide out though, if I need to... I would appreciate it, yeah. Long as I would not be imposing upon you." He takes another drink then, a little deeper than the last one, but not by much. "Oh! You had asked what I was doing," he says, before taking another bite of pizza, "I was tracking some Foot soldiers. Nobody important, in the grand scheme of things." He waves a hand vaguely. "I heard a rumor that they have something I am interested in, and I have been trying to find out where it is so I can take it from them."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue laughs softly at that question about the dorms and she nods he rhead at it. "Yeah, they are. Otherwise yeah, that'd be a bit weird. I'm gonna start lookin' inta getting a place'a my own that isn't in the middle of a Mansion that... I don't know, its a tourist trap, ya know? I don't like lookin' outside and seeing rows'a people takin' pics'a where I'm livin' with their phones and such. Its just weird."

After another bit of pizza, she glances back up at him again when he talks of the Foot. "I've heard'a them, aren't they down in Mutant Town mainly? Brooklyn, there'about?" She shows a slight smile. "I'll help ya out if ya eve'ah need any with any'a that. Just come'n find me and I'll go crack some skulls. And yeah, walk me home and I'll snag that key for ya. I slept in the place a couple'a nights, awhile back."

Zhao Lin has posed:
Zhao Lin chuckles and finishes off the rest of that slice. "Sure," he says, "And yeah, they mostly are. What I am looking for is not there, though. I heard it was being kept safe, away from where they normally operate, until the Hand can come to take hold of it. And I do -not- want the Hand to have hold of it, they will undoubtedly hand it over to the Serpent's Skull." It's about there that Zhao Lin stands up again, though. He's had his fill of her pizza, and wanted to leave some left over for her as well. "I have a feeling that I will be led back to Brooklyn, too, in my search for it."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue closes the box up and uses some napkins to wipe at her fingers before she goes to put her gloves basck on while listening to him. "Wow." She quietly says. "That sounds all very... ya know... serious. I totally want in on it." She grins at him then. "I've heard word that the Hand are operating in and around Hell's Kitchen, so it might be a palce worth snoopin' around too."

The young 19 year old southern belle then moves to stand up and she offers him his jacket back with her hand partially back inside one of her gloves, then picks up the pizza box with her other. "Either way, I'm eager t'help ya, Drunken Leopard Man." She grins at him then and starts for the doorway, offering a wave to the employees behind the counter on her way out since she knows them 'fairly' well, friendly basis kind of thing!
