The high road awaits
Date of Scene: 30 June 2018
Location: New York City
Synopsis: Twitch goes out for a roof run for exercize, and encounters Breath on a guard patrol.
Cast of Characters: Twitch, Breath

Twitch has posed:
It's been some time since Twitch has been able to make it to his old neighborhood. He's taking advantage of the lifted curfew at Xavier's school to head into the city and take some time practicing traversing the rooftops of Clinton.

Twitch has his costume on for the first time in a while even though he's not out looking for trouble. The young man seems to be enjoying himself as he leaps from roof to roof, grinning behind his mask as he jumps through the air, a flip here, landing into a somersault there. Eventually he stops to rest for a moment on a roof near a pigeon coop, looking at the birds and saying, "I missed this. I really need to get out more."

Breath has posed:
Breath watches somebody jumping across roofs, leaning against a section of raised roof with her foot behind an ankle, glancing at a phone clock from time to time as you set foot on the roof she? is standing on.

She? (from her figure, you can't easily tell in the dark) taps their chin. "Hey there. What are you looking for up here? Just out for a social visit somewhere?" They step away from the wall quietly. "Or are you looking for somebody?"

Twitch has posed:
When someone speaks to him unexpectedly Twitch turns his head quickly and steps to his side, looking the speaker over for a moment before seeming to relax slightly. "Yo." He runs a gloved hand through his hair and says, "I'm not really looking for anything in particular. I'm going for a run."

His weight shifts as he stands up straight and lets out a nervous sounding chuckle, "Umm... How about you? I wasn't really expecting to run into anybody out here tonight."

Breath has posed:
Breath shrugs one shoulder. "See that club down there? I have a tip that somebody might be coming after them soon. Might. Maybe nothing. It wouldn't be the first time. Give a bigot the power to shoot lasers out of their eyes and you never really know what's going to happen, since a lot of people talk themselves into some sense when it comes to actually worrying about getting beat up and arrested." They look over the edge and scan the street.

Twitch has posed:
Moving to the edge of the roof Twitch looks down at the club in question, studying the front of the joint before looking back up to the other person, "I can't stand bigots when all they're doing is being dicks to people, let alone threatening to laser folks."

The young man crouches down easily and looks up and down the street below, "Why are they going after this place in particular? Do you have a picture or a description of the asshole?"

Breath has posed:
Breath shrugs a bit. "The bartender there is a girl. That's not what her birth certificate said. She just got outed and splashed all over their hate forums, so I am expecting trouble. And somebody in the neighborhood just got laser eyes. Yippie yippie." She hands over a very grainy picture from a profile pic. "And there's laser girl herself. She doesn't have a name yet. She thinks she's one of the good girls. They always do." She sighs and slumps a bit.

Twitch has posed:
Looking at the picture it's obvious by the way his brow furrows that Twitch is frowning. His head shakes slowly from side to side, then he offers the picture back. "Ugh. Some people are the worst." He shakes his head again and reaches into a pocket on his vest to pull out a small pair of binoculars, the better to check out the people on the street. "I'm Twitch, by the way. I don't usually do the superhero thing any more, but I think I'll make an exception for tonight, if you don't mind the company."

There's a sigh from Twitch as well, "It sucks that people have to worry about this sort of thing. If you're not hurting anybody who cares what you do?" A little bit of a growl escapes, "People should be able to just be themselves without jerks hurting them because their sensibilities are offended or whatever."

Breath has posed:
Breath nods. "I'm the Breath. I do this all the time, I just usually specialize. I'm pretty sure hardly anybody pays attention because of that, or whatever. I mean, most of my gallery is pretty low rent so far."

She looks around the streetside. "I think that might be her over there, but she's loitering around. That's a good sign." She points out a parked car. "If they're standing around, they're thinking things over. And other than that? Totally agree. People get really weird about making sure everybody looks like their mirror." She hmmms and looks around quietly for a minute. "So what's your thing?"

Twitch has posed:
"The Breath? Cool to meet you," Twitch tells the other costumed adventurer with a nod. "There's nothing wrong with specializing. What's your thing? I'm not that picky, I kind of go after whoever's hurting people."

His head swivels and the binoculars come up to his eyes so that the young man can get a better look at the possible threat. "That looks like her. You think she'll talk herself out of it?"

On the subject of himself the kid shrugs, "I've got superhuman reflexes and agility and when I throw stuff I don't miss. Also when I golf, bizarrely enough." Twitch looks over at the Breath briefly and asks, "What about you?"

Breath has posed:
"I hung out at LGBT centers and started picking up on the concerns and worries. Now I have a full plate just tracking bigots that most people just don't act like they have time to deal with. And yeah, I'm hoping she talks sense into herself. I mean, it's hard to work yourself up to actually blasting a place up no matter how much you don't think they're people."

She mirrors your shrug and smiles. "As far as what I do? Think three little pigs. I'm the Big Bad Wolf. Hmm, think it'll help if they get an idea that we might be here?"

Twitch has posed:
"Anybody who wants to hurt someone is probably worth looking into. Seems like one of those deals where it shouldn't matter what their motivations are. It's not like people who run around in costumes helping people are in it for the money," Twitch says before shaking his head sadly. "It's hard for me to hurt bad guys, let alone people that don't have it coming."

Another glance is sent towards Breathe before Tyler grins, "That sounds pretty cool. A lot more of a show than what I can do, I'll bet," Then he puts his binoculars away and says, "Confronting people is a good way to discourage them doing something violent, I've heard. You got something in mind?"

Breath has posed:
Breath shrugs a little, looking around, then purses her lips and blows in a loud way down at a pile of litter, making papers fly everywhere. She blows at it a bit, moving along the wall, until the papers blow across the car, then ducks. "Maybe we should move to get a good view. That could go either way."

A narrow red laser beam flashes off of the wall, skipping across the top of the roof. Breath sighs. "Oooorrr, she could remember that I'm one of the people she hates. Meh." She blows some hair out of her eye annoyedly.

Twitch has posed:
"Damn!" Twitch exclaims as the laser cuts across the night, getting low to avoid letting himself be an easy target. "You want me to draw her fire while you move up on her?" The young man reaches into his vest and comes out with a lead ingot in each hand. "I can probably nail her with one of these from here, get her attention while you sneak up on her and do your thing."

Breath has posed:
Breath nods. "Sure. I'm pretty noisy when I come down. Forget distractions, just pin her down." She just does a running jump, and starts blowing at the ground, crazily steering a massive plume of air at the ground and dropping toward the ground. The lady with the laser starts trying to track her with a laser, and actually crosses her with the beam a couple times, but too quickly to mark. Instant death ray this isn't.

Twitch has posed:
"Yo, Laser Lady!" Twitch calls out as he cocks his arm back and lets loose one of his projectiles, throwing with as much force as he can muster. The ingot is aimed for the nose of the villain. Without wasting much time the young man starts to move to make himself more difficult to hit, flinging the next ingot towards his target, trying to make sure she won't be able to keep her fire up without getting pegged.

Breath has posed:
She turns toward you, eyes glowing red, and takes a chunk of lead right in the nose. A little bit of blood flies in the air, followed by her feet as she is blown completely off her feet by an unexpected projectile hit. She has none of the fighting reflexes of your usual opponents, no defensive stance or guard at all. She lands hard on the sidewalk and groans, covering her face with her hands, and dazedly looks around.

Breath lands and stalks over toward the laser girl. "So, there's no law against loitering. But the cameras caught that light show." She holds up a small phone camera. "Someone in there already called 911. I suggest you stay put. It'll make it easier for your lawyer."

Twitch has posed:
Standing on the edge of the roof, Twitch watches the laser eyed lady go down and rests his hands on his hips dramatically as he surveys the scene, making sure there's nothing else about to pop up. After ascertaining that things seem clear he looks down at the front of the building, hops off the roof while turning in the air to catch the ledge of a window. Once his momentum is stopped he lets go to fall safely to the ground. Walking across the street he glares at the would be murderer, shaking his head at her.

Breath has posed:
Breath mmhs. "TERF. They have a whole ideology about how I am just some peeping tom. They're good at convincing people by scaring them. But guess what? Now she's the scary one. Guess who gets to watch out for bigots NOW? Maybe she'll learn some empathy." She hmphs. "She's lucky I don't report her myself. Not that it's going to matter. You been dealing with any trouble like that?"

Twitch has posed:
"What is there to be afraid of? People wanting to be themselves?" Tyler asks, sounding angry about the concept. "Ugh. It's kind of gross." He nods, "She'll need to start watching her back now that it'll be obvious she's got powers. Especially one who's going to end up with a record." The young man takes a second to brush back his hair, "I've been pretty lucky. I can pass, no physical mutations or anything, and my powers can be pretty subtle, so nobody really knows about me outside of a few close friends."

Breath has posed:
Breath nods, "Yeah, unless somebody puts your name and picture up on a forum or something. You know, like girls like HER do. You know, I think her eyes are changing color..." She crosses her arms. "I hear some sirens coming. I'm hanging out here until they arrive. There's a camera out front." She gestures at a couple security cameras. "You okay?"

Twitch has posed:
"Yeah, that would really be rough. My folks don't even have any idea," Twitch says to Breath with a nod. "I'm good. Glad I got to help out a little bit tonight." The sound of the sirens definitely reaches him, though, "I think I'm going to take off before the cops get here. It was nice to meet you. I'll make sure not to ignore any minority groups in trouble if I get word they need a hand."

Breath has posed:
Breath gives a thumbs up. "Totally understandable. I work with the Titans now. Ring me up if you ever want to talk or anything. I'll squeeze you in. Tell you some of the stuff people miss. See ya!"

Twitch has posed:
"Will do!" Twitch grins behind his mask before he starts off down the street towards the nearest alleyway. "Take care of yourself. I'll hit you up when I get back to the superhero game for real." As he rounds the nearest corner he pulls a grappling hook from one of his vest pouches and snaps the hooks into place.
