Psychic Diagnosis
Date of Scene: 01 July 2018
Location: Xavier's School
Synopsis: Professor X checks on Erika and gets her set up at school.
Cast of Characters: Souvenir, Professor X, Elixir

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir was sleeping, thanks to being zapped with a block by Psylocke. But the whole point of sleep is to clear and clean the brain, in a way.. And the block was applied gently to not leave any harm. It's starting to fray and go away, leaving her with dreams about laundry and blankets and bedmaking, before failing enough to let a connection pop up and jerk her out of fitful sleep.

She groans and looks around, making sure she is still wearing that dress, and puts her feet on the floor to look for her shoes. Gah. Mistake. She whimpers a bit and whacks at stuff with a blanket. "DAMN it!"

Professor X has posed:
Xavier already knew about Erika's condition and how she was in the medical ward. With that said, Charles wheels himself into the room JUST when Eirka appears to wake up and attack things with her blanket. She'll hear a soothing voice in her head, Xavier's telepathy also temporarily dulling her pain receptors. With that said, he smiles. <<Hello, Erika. My name is Charles Xavier and I am the headmaster of this school.>>

He wheels right up next to her bed, smiling to her as if he were her loving grandfather. <<I hear you are having an interesting first day here so far.>> He tries to put in some humor as he looks upon her. hmm..

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir blinks sleep out of her eyes and squints at you in some confusion at the method of address. She flounders through yet more layers of surreal situation, then just bluntly decides to go with "Hi... Why are you a *thing*?" and rubs at her head a bit.

She's not.. In pain, exactly. Being, say, frenetically tickled isn't painful per se, but neither is it a welcome experience at all times. She sighs. Then realizes that there are many ways to take that last statement, and the one she meant is probably on the very bottom of the list for anybody else. "I.. I mean-" Embarrassed.

Professor X has posed:
Charles smiles softly to Erika even as she appears to be extremely confused and lost, especially as to who he is and why he's there. "Well, you see, when two people love each other very much..." he stops there and simply chuckles a good-natured laugh. "I tease, I tease."

He doesn't appear to be offended or even confused at Erika's response, which means he must deal with things such as this quite often. "It's okay, young lady. Why don't you tell me of yourself?" He asks as he -very subtly- searches through her mind to find the source of the problem. He finds that when people are distracted, they often don't focus on their problems, and that makes his job much easier.

He doesn't speak, only smiling at the young lady before him.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir uh. Wow, could you possibly ask a more vague question? She thinks a bit. "Um.. My name is Erika, my family is from Iceland, I'm in high school, I, um.."

She pauses and tries to think of something else to fill that in. "The other day, some boys drugged my friend and tried to chase us down and do horrible things to us, and I broke into a restaurant and hid from them, and now every time I touch something.." She gestures wildly with her fingers from her head, "Phooom! My head goes boom.. Crackly... Zappy.. And then it's just kind of sitting there in my head. And I couldn't sleep for days and I guess mom sent me here? I think. The last day or so is kind of blurry."

Professor X has posed:
Xavier looks at her curiously as she seems to have some slight difficulty remembering everything. Or perhaps she is simply trying to consider what to say. "Well, it's nice to meet you Erika from Iceland." he teases her very softly before she starts to explain her situation. Hmm...trauma.

"I'm so sorry that was even thought of happening to you, Erika. But you don't have to be afraid anymore, you're in good hands. Every time you touch something?" he starts to ponder. "Hm...sounds as if you are trying to make psychic connections with inanimate objects. Looking into your mind now, I can tell I'm sharing space with a carpet, your dress, and your blanket. But...Trauma can affect mutant powers in many different ways. This is not irrepairable, however."

A warm smile once again touches the elderly man's face. "Tell me, what is your experience with your abilities? How long have you had them?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ums. "Well.. what day is it? Because the whole.. chase.. thing was on.. you know. Wednesday night? Thursday morning? And then I haven't slept, and I was staying put, and then I was grounded and I stayed in my room, and I was awake the whole time and I couldn't sleep so I kind of lost track of time... so.. Whatever day it is today, right? I've just been trying to not get brainasplode.. stuff.. and it isn't working." She sighs in some frustration. So far, everybody... everybody.. has been complaining about her lack of words to explain any of this. So she's starting to feel really stupid.

Professor X has posed:
Xavier doesn't even seem annoyed or even lightly irritated that Erika appears to be having trouble. Okay..so, she's a very, VERY new-comer to her powers. Nothing he can't fix! "I see." he takes a small breath. "How should I explain this? You appear to have a psychic ability that appears to activate on touch. While I cannot tell you what your powers are -exactly-, I can tell at least that much."

He wheels himself closer to Erika so he can look her better in the eyes. "Today is Sunday, the first of July." he tells her the day with a soft smile. "It seems control will be what we focus on in your case."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir sighs loudly. "Can we start by figuring out what I DO, in like, REAL WORDS, so I can stop having people keep asking me what I am doing in ways that keep sounding more and more like how they would talk to a preschooler? Because I DON'T know what I'm doing, and i DON'T know what to tell anybody when they ask, and they keep asking, and I just want to hide in a closet listening to music so I don't have to keep saying baby-talk vagueness at everybody.." She brushes her bangs down over her eyes a bit, frustrated and kind of snapping a little bit, because she is surrounded by surreal strangeness now and her entry into it all sounds far too close to 'goo goo' to her.

She stops and counts days on her fingers. "...Jesus, no wonder I was so tired. I thought it was maybe Saturday." She looks a little bit horrified.

Professor X has posed:
Charles then looks at Erika, as if somewhat intrigued by her as he keeps searching through her thoughts. "It appears that you use a form of Psychometry. Though...you seem easily frustrated at 'real words' yet demand 'real words' at the same time." he ponders if some form of mental damage was also done. Xavier nods lightly. "Skin-to-skin or direct contact of your skin to another object appears to establish a connection between the two. So for now, I advise wearing gloves on your hands."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ughs! "THANK you! I like words when I have them. Psychometry. Okay. That's better. I can Google that. Do you have a word for the whole brain... explodey thing? Because I don't know what to even call that."

She nods and listens a bit more, nodding her head, then puts her hands out and gestures a bit wildly, "GLOVES. Ohmigod. Yes. I need some of those. Probably there's some in the kitchen, right? The disposable plastic kind anyways. Wow, that's going to look weird when I go out in public. Well, maybe I can wear gloves over my gloves. Or something. I'll figure it out."

Elixir has posed:
Josh stretches and folds the lid closed on the laptop he is borrowing from the school. His white paper for Mr. Wayne is started, but just doesn't have the oomph or inspiration he is looking for yet. He decides to check on Erika. Josh doesn't even bother with shoes, just pads down the hall in his socks, favourite blue jeans and a plain black t-shirt.

Erika's door is open so he pokes his head in. "Hey Erika, how're you... Oh, hey Professor, sorry, didn't mean to interrupt anything."

Professor X has posed:
Charles smiles softly to Erika. "You're welcome." he tilts his head at Erika when she describes her whole 'brain-explodey thing' as she said. Though he tries to provide the best explanation that he can for Erika. "Hmm...the only thing that I can think of is that when you perform direct skin contact on objects, you receive a massive dose of information that can be overwhelming to the senses. Much akin to say...receiving a loud noise through the ear or having a particularly awful migraine. It's enough to stun you for a period of time. I believe the technically saavy call it 'Lagging'?" Yes, Charles spends time with the tech kids too.

Charles seems to show sympathy for her, for he knows the feeling when looking through another's mind for example. "I can tell it's not painful for you." and with that, her pain receptors are back to full funcitonality. "I will have gloves brought to you. I will make sure they are both comfortable and stylish, but for now? If you can get up and begin doing mundane tasks again, please do your best. If you cannot, then please rest for me, yes?"

Then his eyes look to Josh as he enters. "Oh, hello Joshua. It's good to see you. Please, come in."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir sighs some. "I THINK I can? With socks and shoes and clothes and stuff and if I don't have to try not to TOUCH anything. But I won't be able to SLEEP.." She sighs a lot. "I mean, that's what made me be here in the first place..." She pulls her bangs down over her eyes a little bit and bites her lip a bit, running the explanations through her head a few times and associating them with herself. She's changing her identity a lot this week.

She waves at the door, "Oh, hey Josh! I'm a psychometrist. And it's a touch thing. And I can't turn it off. And.. he just said the other bit. I don't like saying 'brain asplodey' when I want to be serious. I don't know if there's a good word for it yet, though. You know, that sounds all intelligent and descriptive." She ums, trying to summarize this in her head. "And I have to wear gloves for now." There! Much more empowering to be able to not sound like a kindergardener.

Elixir has posed:
Josh steps into the room fully and waves to Erika before putting his hands back in his pockets.

"Psychometrist? That's cool," he says as if he's aware of what that means, but the smile is genuine. "I'm stoked you're getting some answers. And gloves, that's a great idea. No more 'splodey" he quips.

"Thanks for helping her, Professor, I was really worried about her."

Professor X has posed:
The Professor moves his chair so that he's looking between Josh and Erika, a small smile for the former. "As long as you try, that's all we ask." a warm smile for her before he looks to Josh. "It's my honor and duty, Josh." Though he does take this time to look to Erika, giving her a telepathic message. <<This one's a true friend. The one who worries and will be there for you through everything. He's a keeper.>> He teases the young lady before he looks upon Josh.

"We haven't had a chance to speak since the last outing. How are you feeling, Josh?" he asks the gold-skinned boy.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir honestly doesn't really know what that means yet either, beyond that somebody who should know thinks she is one. But it's kind of like that moment the doctor announces that they *know what's wrong with you* after a bunch of confused and clueless anxiety. Suddenly you have access to answers. "Yeah, I have to go Google that now or something, so I can figure out what that means besides I like.. read the minds of inanimate objects or something? I mean, I'm not quite sure how that works or anything. Who knew?"

She hushes as the conversation shifts, and quietly goes for her day bag. She manages to dig out her socks (which don't click) and puts those on, then debates on whether she wants to put her shoes on yet. She decides against it, because at some point she's putting some pants on instead of this dress that leaves her legs bare to snag on things, but no hurry. She's dressed enough for the moment to wander around as long as she's extra careful.

Elixir has posed:
"I'm good, Professor, honest. I mean, it was scary as hell at the time and wore me out, but I'm good now," he says, then looks to Erika. "I got hurt and healed myself," he explains, then looks back to the Professor. "I know I didn't do that great on that, but I hope I'll be called for the next one. I really want to help, and I think I learned a few things not to do," he says with a wry smile. His posture and his tone are far more confident than even the night of the adventure.

Josh laughs at Erika's comment and grins. "Yeah, I don't know what it means either. So like, when you find out can you tell me? And are you gonna be staying here a while, Erika?" he asks, looking between her and the Professor. "I hope I didn't go overboard bringing her here, I just figured she really needed someone like you or Ms. Braddock, Professor, so I kind of made the call to do it."

Professor X has posed:
Charles gives Erika a knowing smile even as she starts to get changed, which, to give her privacy, Charles turns his chair so that he's looking at Josh. "Good. I was greatly worried about you, young man. Please, next time, attempt not to be so reckless. You gave us all quite a scare. But I am very happy to know that you're alright." he tilts his head at Josh. "Oh? it was your decision? A very good choice to make, young man. You made a good decision. Any hospital would have no idea how to treat her, and anti-mutant sympathizers likely would have tried to get to her. But..no matter."

A smile for Josh as he looks to Erika. "If the young lady wishes it, I'm more than happy to allow her to attend and stay at the school."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir blinks widely and looks a bit deer in the headlights at that. "....I... don't... know? I don't think anybody said? I mean, I don't think I CAN go home until I can sleep without Miss Betsy doing that.. whatever it was she supposedly did. I don't remember it."

She bites her lip. "And.. I don't even know what I'm doing. So I mean.. unless you have a really good distance learning thing going on? I don't know if I have a real choice. I'm not.. wait, where are we again? Like.. how many miles away from Sunnydale? I was about to say 'I can just stop in and see my mom and dad', but then I realized I could be in like, France for all I know."

Elixir has posed:
"Sorry, I didn't mean to rush you," Josh says apologetically. "You're in New York, Westchester New York, so like just outside New York City. And this, well, the Professor can explain what this place is better than me," he says. "But it's a place for people like us."

Professor X has posed:
The Professor smiles a little bit to Josh with a bit of a chuckle to his tone before his eyes shift to Erika. "The young man is correct. You are presently in my estate. Xavier's School for the Gifted is it's official title, but it's known by a few other names as well. Not a terribly long distance away, but.." Charles smiles a little bit.

"If you wish, you can do distance studies, but I've noticed that it can be extremely..difficult."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods and holds up her hands, measuring the distance between them. "Okay, so yeah, that's not bad at all. Mom was super happy to hear that I was doing better when I talked to her earlier. And like.. They're probably totally in that space of 'I love you sweetie, but I still want to kick your ass'." She punctuates it by making a little box in the air with her handa and looking through it.

"Anyways, if 'Drea gives my mom a selfie and an autograph, she'll probably agree to just about whatever. Within reason, anyhow. Yeah, I kind of figured that. And it's not like I do something I can ignore."

Elixir has posed:
Josh chuckles at the mention of a selfie from Andrea. "I'm pretty sure we can make that happen, she's really cool about helping out," Josh assures Erika.

"You wouldn't have to do distance though. Most of the other kids here are doing high school right here, and they get extra classes, about how to control their powers and just, live with things, you know? I'm doing my first year college courses here, even. So you could just switch schools instead of doing distance, do everything here. And they seriously have everything here, even a lake with beaches and fire pits!"

Professor X has posed:
Professor Xavier looks to Josh with a small smile as he joins him in laughter about selfies. "Be careful of what you wish for." as if Xavier already knew that one particular starlet was nearby. With that said, his eyes shift to Erika with a bit of a smile. "True. What makes you...well, you is never something one can or should ignore. Instead it should be embraced with a healthy respect." he smiles lightly.

"If it's desired, I can speak with your parents." Xavier offers in his usual kind demeanor.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ummms, "Please? Because like.. I'm still figuring all this stuff out? I kind of don't really know what I'm doing yet, so I can't really tell them much. They know I'm doing better anyways.."

She ums, thinking some. "I'll need my stuff from home though. I didn't bring many clothes, and I didn't bring any of a bunch of things. And like.. I meant that if you like, turn into rubber when you say 'Abracadabra', you can just sort of ignore that and do other stuff for awhile, but like.. I'm not going to be able to do that. People are going to notice something is up."

Elixir has posed:
"I'm sure we can get all that sorted out if you're staying. It feels all crazy right now, but the Professor and Ms. Braddock and the others have done this a lot. They'll help you get it all sorted out, so you can just, do you. Well, the new you, anyway," he smiles. "It'll be good, better than trying to act normal and hide it out there."

Professor X has posed:
Professor Xavier smiles lightly to Erika. "Very well. I will meet with them and see what we can come up wit yes? and don't worry, lifting and moving your things from one place to another is very trivial and not something that will cause dealbreaks, yes?" He gives her a fatherly wink before his eyes fall upon Josh.

"We appreciate your faith in us, Mr. Foley. But for now, do stay with Erika while she gets herself sorted out? I must go handle a few things." He wheels out of the room.

"Farewell for now! and Josh, make sure you study for your test!"
