Space, the Final Frontier...
Date of Scene: 07 July 2018
Location: Mackenzie King Station
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Black Canary, Vindicator

Black Canary has posed:
Mackenzie King Station. Yes, Canary is part of Alpha Flight, but she always managed to welch out of coming up here. She hates teleports. And the few times she was reluctantly transported to New York Cith it made her nauseous. But she got a message that Vindicator wanted to see her. And... there was a challenge to get over it. So - Canary went to the teleport... and... delayed. She paces back and forth outside the station.

Vindicator has posed:
Heather has had to deal with technology for most of her time with Alpha Flight. Mac actually was the one who developed the suit, after all. So, when Dinah was pacing outside of the teleporter, Heather managed to walk up beside her. "Hey Dinah. Nervous about your first teleportation?" She says quietly. Once DInah looks over, she'll notice that Heather is in her suit.....as Vindicator. "better control in space."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary blinks. "Well... no. Just... the first time going up." She sighs softly, smiling faintly. "I just don't like the idea of being in space. Honestly, I would've been happier if I was born 50 years ago. A much simpler time without all this... technology." She then asks, "Why did you want me up there anyway?"

Vindicator has posed:
"Couple of things, Dinah. First and foremost, you had to get up there. The Zeta Beam will help out our deployment if we can get it to work right with the weather conditions. I also wanted you to see Frigga's Mercy, since we're sending them supplies on a daily basis now. Lastly, I wanted you to get in some Zero-G training. You're one of our top martial artists, Dinah....and I think Zero-g training would help you out even more."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary just goes pale. "Zero-G?" she asks faintly. "Well... I guess... I can try it..." She sighs softly as she trudges into the teleport station, like a kicked puppy. And... signs up to beam up to the station.

Vindicator has posed:
"It's not as bad after the first time." Heather says as she steps into the beam herself....and they both re-integrate at the station. Heather.....belches as soon as she gets out of the beam. "Jeez that thing always gives me gas." She then looks back to Dinah. "You okay?"

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary sways slowly, sinking to her knees. "Whoa... feel a bit dizzy..." she muses softly, shaking her head. "It's different for the Vancouver-New York portal..." She then slowly rises to her feet. So - here we are. I guess."

Vindicator has posed:
heather walks over and holds out her hand to help Dinah up. She'll find that there is gravity there, so she doesn't have to worry about floating everywhere. "yeah, here we are. Not quite as bad as it seems, does it?" She then gestures otu one window. "And there's Frigga's Mercy." She says pointing towards a rather big ship that looks like a covered Viking boat.

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary blinks. "Frigga's Mercy?" she asks blankly. "Oh - right - I read that story in the newspaper. The... denizens of Asgard or something?" she asks. "Thor's people?" She ponders. "There have been several columns about it in recent times on those who think we should welcome time - or not."

Vindicator has posed:
"Yeah." Heather says in a darker note. "The problem is, Politicians are attempting to look down their nose on the Asgardians....and they're just looking at what they can gain from them.....as in, not the people, but their tech. And it's not going to work." She then looks to DInah. "As much as I'd love to have them in Alpha Flight, I don't want their membership to be a condition with staying on Earth. I'd rather they volunteered. The politicians are trying to spin it so it'll benefit them. But it'll backfire. Imagine trying to control Thor." And she waits a few seconds for that to kick in. "It's not a good idea. At least Norway offered them a place to land if they can address the ones that destroyed Asgard, which I think Thor has."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary nods slowly. "Yes... politicians are almost as bad as some of our rogues' galleries. But I'm not sure what I could do against Thor. If he and I went at it - I doubt it'd go well. As good as I am - I'm basically just a normal woman with a very loud voice." She then gulps. "Ummmm... by the way... are there windows on this thing? How... shatter-resistant are they?"

Vindicator has posed:
"They wouldn't be up here if they weren't, Dinah, but....just in case.....That's why I want you in Zero-g training....in case we need to defend the station." Heather says softly. "They were made with a sheet of plastic in between the panes, so they'll spiderweb, but not shatter. Think a car's windshield."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary smiles softly. "I should ask... you know the output powers of my Canary Cry. I can blast a 18-wheeler on its side. I'll keep my voice down nonetheless." She then ponders. "Don't you get all floaty in zero-G? How can one navigate?"

Vindicator has posed:
"That's the reason for the training. So you learn." Heather then nods. "yeah. I know the power of your cry, Dinah. There's no friction in space. So, physics apply. An object in motion stays in motion until there is a applicable force to slow it down. On earth, it's gravity and friction. In space...there's no friction. On earth....The wind is friction."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary nods. "The problem is... my ability is sonic. There is no air in space. So - there is no way for my Cry to work, right?" she asks as she just jumps in the air. "I feel a bit lighter." She smiles faintly, clicking her tongue. "What's the gravity?"

Vindicator has posed:
Heather McNeil Hudson says, "it's likely .8 earth's gravity here. But...when you weight train, you'll be working at normal earth gravity, if not 1.2. And no...your cry wouldn't work." She says starting to walk. "This way, DInah.""

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary nods. "Yes, I weight train all the time. How would you recommend acclimazing me to zero-G? I should note that of all the spacesuits I've seen, I wouldnt' be able to fight effectively with such bulky padding." She ponders. "Where would you like to take me first?" she asks as she follows.

Vindicator has posed:
Heather McNeil Hudson gestures towards an inner corridor. "This way...to the weight room." She says softly. 'and, if you noticed...my suit isn't bulky, so you may get the same. You'd just have to make sure your helmet didn't get hit." She says as the gravity gets more and more intense. "the outer ring doesn't spin as fast as the inner rings. So...in here, it's about 1.2x earth's gravity...."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary nods slowly. "Interesting... training under pressure," she muses. "I like it." She smiles faintly. "So..." She then blinks. "Wait, I'll have my own spacesuit? I do hope it'll be custom-fitted or something."

Vindicator has posed:
Heather McNeil Hudson says, "it will be. We're not as careless as Nasa, but it'll mean you'll have to keep the suit from getting torn." She then looks to her own arm. "Like mine....sort of. But it'd be only for use in space. I imagine you'll have your own accutrements along with it.""

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary enters as she nods slowly. "Mmmmm - I can feel the increased pressure. This should be fun." She throws a few punches. "Even standing is taking a bit more effort." She clicks her tongue softly as she looks around.

Vindicator has posed:
Heather McNeil Hudson nods. "That's the point. Increased gravity means more weight. And in Zero G...you don't get this. it'll also mean that the impacts are a bit harder too."

Black Canary has posed:
Black Canary ponders. "Right.... I don't quite get the reality of zero gravity... I do wonder if there's a way to channel my Canary Cry somehow that could be useful in the dread sad day that I'd have to go... out there. But for now - just to adapt to this." She looks around. "Do you have a training dummy I can spar with?"

Vindicator has posed:
"In a few of the training rooms." Heather says softly. "You may be able to use it....but you need something with recoil to use for propulsion. And.....do weight training and get used to the gravity first. it'll take a bit."
