Ice Cream Treats
Date of Scene: 06 July 2018
Location: Baskin Robbins
Synopsis: Tyler, Erika and Ororo go out for ice cream after seeing a movie. While there they meet Jubilee.
Cast of Characters: Twitch, Storm, Souvenir, Jubilee

Twitch has posed:
The ice cream parlor has quite a few folks already in it, seeing as how it's a cool place to grab something cold on a hot Friday night. The line isn't quite to the door yet, which is great because it means there's no waiting outside in the heat for Tyler.

The youth grabs a place in line, beating the others he came with to the ice cream store by virtue of being a young person filled with boundless energy. Not to mention having a motorcycle that's easier to park than a car.

As he waits in line Tyler looks over the various ice creams, pressing his lips together tightly as he attempts to determine which flavor he's going to have. His eyes flicker between the ice cream itself and the menu behind the counter as if looking for the perfect combination of flavor and type of sundae.

Storm has posed:
Ororo Munroe is not too far behind Tyler, entering the colorful ice cream shop behind several other patrons. It is a lot busier because several movies recently ended at the Cineplex, and what better place to be after a movie than an ice cream parlor. "Explain it to me again," Ororo says, adjusting her purse as they inch closer to the cashier. "Why did everyone disappear at the end? I'm assuming it is to setup a sequel, or is there more to the story?" Ororo is not as cultured in the art of superhero movies, nor did she read comic books or know much about characterization, but she is curious to know what they saw.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir tags along after. No motorcycle. No flying. She's stuck in the muggy heat. And she has to wear long sleeves and gloves. Life is suffering. Well, this heat is, anyways. Why couldn't it be this hot when she was trying to get some time in the lake?

She stands in line and sweats, trying to remember what kind of ice cream they have there. "There's a sequel, yeah. They always plan another movie to tie into the story on those. Ugh, this heat is bru-tal! Oh thank god we're in the AC now. Fiiinally.."

Twitch has posed:
"Yeah, they plan those movies so that you'll be left hanging for a year to build your anticipation for the next one," Tyler says to the instructor. He's wearing gloves and a jacket himself, the coat freshly laundered but with a cut over the left bicep. Since he's not riding his bike at the moment he strips down to his t-shirt and speaks to Erika, "I'd offer you a ride but I cracked my helmet today so I've got to use my extra one myself." The kid shakes his head and lets out a sigh, "Scuffed up my bike a little bit, too. My parents are going to be so pissed when they find out."

Storm has posed:
"I guess that makes sense," Ororo replies to the students' responses. There is a good chance she will not be seeing the sequel anyway.

Moving forward as the few customers in front of them make their selections and cash out, Ororo settles in front of the different flavors. She is just glad to be in a cooler environment, grateful that the parlor keeps the temperature crisp and cold for their patrons -- and the ice cream.

"Get whatever you want, guys. It's on me. Call it a prize for your participation in class this morning." Ororo moves to the side and allows Erika to skip in front of her. Her blue eyes fall on an interesting flavor, raising an eyebrow at its name and color. Risky, she decides on it.

An attendant is ready to take Tyler's order.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir hmms, looking at ice cream flavors. On the one hand, she doesn't want to blow up like a blimp. On the other hand, the last few days have been awfully active...

She ponders toppings next, and debates on asking what the girl behind the counter thinks is best. Some of these flavors are weird, probably good, but does she want to be tasting everything?

Yeah, don't answer that.

"How did you manage THAT? I mean, you are an awesome driver. Were you trying something weird? "

Twitch has posed:
"Thanks, Ms Monroe!" Tyler says to Ororo with a big grin, showing his pleasure at the surprise treat. Then he turns back to the person behind the counter and says, "Peanut butter cup sundae with peanut butter cup ice cream, please." The man clearly knows what he likes.

Turning to Erika the boy shakes his head, "I stopped the bike suddenly when I saw folks in trouble. Got off of it in a hurry without setting the kickstand so it fell over, then I tossed my helmet at one of the people being aggressive." His shoulders shrug, "I think my folks are going to be more pissed off about me intervening when I did than about the bike and the helmet. I'm just going to tell them someone at school took it for a spin when I wasn't around and dropped it."

Storm has posed:
Inching closer down the line, Ororo finds another flavor that has a good name and looks interesting, "Gold Medal Ribbon... Vanilla, chocolate, and caramel ribbon. Hmm." Looking back and forth between the first flavor and the latter, Ororo bites her lip gently as she contemplates.

Tyler and Erika's conversation does not fall on deaf ears, but being the sneaky instructor that she is, Ororo maintains her silence. Quietly, she wonders what kind of trouble the people he mentions were in, and why he hit someone with his... helmet? Kids these days. They don't talk things out.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods. "Right." She gets the feeling that the entire discussion should probably not be in public. "Or somebody knocked it down when you were parked somewhere."

She smiles at the girl behind the counter. "Hey! Can I get a small berry berry pie in a dipped bowl with extra graham cracker crust please?" She watches the ice cream being made, oohing a bit in faint hedonistic anticipation.

Twitch has posed:
As his sundae is prepared Tyler watches closely, making sure that he doesn't miss a single step in the process. He even nods his head at various points to show his approval.

Turning away from his dessert momentarily, Tyler focuses on Erika and smiles, "That's an even better idea. I'll probably call them and let them know before I see them on Monday. I'm going to have to save up for a while to replace the helmet and get the scuffs taken care of. I'll have to see if my buddy wants to take me back to the golf course so I can try to win some money off the old guys there."

Storm has posed:
As the two students order and have their orders made, Ororo is still looking between the flavors. The attendant gets her attention next, ready to prepare her order, and Ororo looks up sharply. "Oh! Sorry about that. Can I get two scoops of Mint Chocolate Chip," she begins, deciding on the first flavor. "And can I have it in a waffle bowl please?"

"Would you like to make it a sundae?" the attendant asks.

Looking down at Tyler's sundae, and then to Erika's bowl, Ororo declines the offer. "No, thank you. Two scoops and the waffle bowl should be enough." Digging in her purse, she pulls out an AMEX card and hands it to the cashier. With a look in Tyler and Erika's direction, "Go ahead and get us seats."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods and looks away to scan the tables, and picks out one of the tables in the back. She sets out space and looks around, waiting for things to be brought over. "Well, I hope that works out. I'm short on ways to make money right now... No job or anything."

Storm has posed:
As the transaction completes and the card is returned to Ororo, she places back into her purse and picks up her order. Taking a once-over of the room, she locates Erika picking out a table and walks a bee-line in that direction. The back table is perfect because the little parlor begins to fill up with more movie-goers and shoppers in Salem Center.

Ororo places her ice cream on the table and unstraps the purse from her shoulder, placing it next to the dessert. She smiles to both students before sitting in the free seat. "So, I know that this is more of an out of school function, and I hate talking about class when we aren't in the classroom, but I must say I am impressed with the eagerness of you both to learn and volunteer."

"What do you want to accomplish at Xavier's School?" she asks. "Erika?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir frowns some and suddenly pokes at her ice cream, thinking a bit, then gets a spoon and slowly takes a bite of ice cream and savors it quietly. Stalling for time. She licks her lips slowly, considering.

"Well..." She starts out slowly. "I didn't really have a choice in the first place. Then I was upset because I didn't feel like I had much freedom. Then the others showed up in the Wellness Center covered in blood, and I have been having nightmares about not being able to help people. I mean, those are horrible things to find. I doubt they just sit around playing video games when they aren't shooting at Andrea." She frowns.

Storm has posed:
As Erika speaks, Ororo picks up a spoon and starts on her ice cream. She nods as the student goes through a small list of her current experiences at the mansion, squinting slightly as the question somewhat goes unanswered.

"But what do /you/ want to accomplish?" Ororo says. "I know we spoke briefly about learning more about your abilities, but other than those gifts, what would you like to accomplish socially?" She pauses, smirking at a thought. "Essentially, what do you want to be when you grow up?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir frowns. "I don't know what I *can* do. I don't want to be like my parents." She frowns a little bit deeper. "I don't like knowing that there are things like that out there that aren't being dealt with."

She takes another bite of ice cream, thinking. "I mean, I think I would end up just feeling guilty all day if I did. But I'm not sure what I would even do." She looks off to the side. "I'm really bad at figuring out what I want to be. Everything keeps changing on me."

Storm has posed:
"That means you've been brought to the right school," Ororo replies, confidently. "Xavier's School is built on preparing you to take the next step, to help you figure out what you want to do in life." It also is about helping students to control their mutant or superhuman gifts, but Ororo chooses not to say that part outloud. Instead, she eats another spoonful of ice cream.

"One thing will certainly be the same, as long as I am a senior staff member of the school: we care about you. We won't stop until you are happy and successful."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee trudges in with a sigh, and stands in front of the ice cream counter, pressing her nose against the glass and steaming it up as she gazes longingly at the ice cream selection. She bites her lip, and points. "Superman. I want the one named for my future husband."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir frowns a bit. "I don't really understand what I do. I don't really know who I even am really. I know I am sick of being the goofy pest that has to get tucked into bed every night by Miss B. I'm sick of not quite knowing what all I can do. I'm sick of watching people who I kind of like hanging out with being hurt by people and having them tell me I'm too little to do anything." She glares at the ice cream and gobbles a bite. "I guess the rest is kind of a work in progress or something, right?" She doesn't react to Jubilee, since she doesn't know her.

Twitch has posed:
Eventually, Tyler looks up from his ice cream after making a serious dent in his sundae. After wiping the sides of his mouth with a napkin he says to Erika, "I'm still pretty new to the school myself, but I think it'll be a good fit for you. I was worried I might have to drop out or that I was going to get kicked out after I did something when I first got here but instead Ms Frost and Ms Grey helped me work out why I shouldn't do what it is that I did."

He gives a lift of his chin to the young woman, "I don't mean to act like I think you're too little to do anything. I kind of hate being told that I'm 'just a kid' personally and I don't want to do that to you."

Jubilee gets a look, not so much because of her comment but because of her mode of dress. It's strange at any time, but especially in the summer heat. Tyler returns his attention to his table before he gets caught staring.

Jubilee has posed:
"One more. Ehhhh.....one MORE." Jubilee holds up a finger as the astonished ice cream scooper piles up a total of four scoops of Superman ice cream in a waffle bowl. "Whipped cream...and THREE cherries." She pays and takes her monstrosity of ice creamy goodness away from the counter, turning to find Ororo sitting behind her, with two faces she doesn't recognize.

"Oh hi! I was just..." she looks down at her inexcusable pile of delectable frozen goodness and back up. "Getting this for the troops to split...."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir inhales, exhales. "Well, I don't know what to try yet. I mean, I get ideas, but they're dumb. Like, hey, it's hot and muggy today, but somehow the lake is too cold to really go swim in much yesterday. And it was a really dumb idea anyways. I don't know what my head feels like if I don't have.. things in it, except when I just got my head whomped by Miss B, and then I feel... numb. So I was going to.. well, it doesn't matter because the water was cold and there were kids everywhere."

Storm has posed:
"Rome wasn't built in a day," Ororo replies with a warm smile. "I know it is frustrating not to know something, but believe me, you will find out and will be great at whatever it is." Ororo always has a way with words, a very motherly instinct that projects her concern and compassion to those she cares about.

Ororo nods as Tyler chimes in, agreeing with what the student says. A bite and another bite, and another bite comes from Ororo's ice cream selection, savoring the flavor for a bit before swallowing. "But lets remember, you are a child. At the school, we give you tasks that make you responsible, but you still a student under our care. Wanting to grow up fast is understandable," she chuckles, "but you will hate it when you finally do grow up."

In that moment, Ororo turns to a somewhat familiar voice behind her. "Jubilation?" she asks. "Speak of the devil! How are you?"

Twitch has posed:
"Your idea yesterday wasn't too dumb," Tyler tells Erika, pressing his lips tightly together to show concern. "There were just too many people around to do it." Either he picked up on what she was trying or he's trying to be encouraging anyway.

Then he finds himself looking between Ororo and Jubilee, wondering what there might be to be so jubilant about. The young man lifts a hand to the newcomer in a brief wave, smiles and says, "Hey, how's it going?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Hiya 'Ro! I dunno what yer talkin' about. I grew up and I like it JUST fine. Just...Not TOO fast," she says with a wink to Erika. Jubilee is dressed in cutoff jean shorts and a pink strappy tanktop, with a light jacket draped over her arm, bright yellow. Her ever-present pink Converse sneakers are still pristine. She's bound to be OCD. "So what's brought you and the kid-squad to the ice cream doin's today?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir rubs her forehead a little bit with a black gloved hand. Her look runs pretty deep into 'emo', with a red and black plaid flannel shirt, band T-shirt under it (Tonight Alive), black pants, and the shoes. Lots of dark eyeliner. She sighs slowly, then spoons some more of the berry ice cream into her mouth.

"Well.. yeah I guess, but I still think it was kind of silly because I couldn't pull it off and it's embarrassing." She hmms. "I bugged Sean about his garden bed idea later, but I don't think that's something they can just wander down to the furniture store and buy. Hopefully it works though!"

To Jubilee, she offers a wave and a quick head to toe glance. She smiles approvingly. "Hiya!"

Storm has posed:
Ororo smiles at Jubilee's addition to the conversation, raising from her chair and meeting her with an embrace. "Some of us never truly grow up," she says jokingly to the students, returning to give the instructor a once-over.

"I am treating them to a movie and dessert," Ororo continues, "and getting out of the mansion is never a bad idea once in a while." Because the Great Goddess knows that she needs to get away from time to time. "Anyway, this is Erika and Tyler. Have you all met in passing before?" Ororo manuevers back to her chair, turning it slightly as she is able to take in visuals of student and instuctor."

Twitch has posed:
"We can see about grabbing you some sod, I guess," Tyler tells Erika with a shrug. "Enough to make a bed. It won't last long and it'll suck to clean up, but it might be a good temporary thing to do." He actually pauses as an idea strikes him. "Wait, so if we make a waterproof box to hold dirt and sod and get some grow lights, you water the bed every day and turn on the lights over it when you're not in the room and you can probably have something to sleep on."

He looks back to Jubilee and smiles politely, "I don't think we've met yet. It's nice to meet you, though." He gets to his feet and moves to the next table over to grab a chair, bringing it back so that the new arrival can join them at their table, "Have a seat, if you want."

Jubilee has posed:
"Oooh thanks!" Seating herself and giving the students a once-over, Jubilee shakes her head slowly and shovels a big bite of ice cream into her mouth. Once she rolls her eyes with infinite enjoyment and swallows, she reaches up and adjusts the brass goggles that hold her array of careless black curls out of her face. "Can't say I have, yet. But it's a pleasure! I teach gymnastics, so if ya ever end up on the parallel bars...well I'll be there to show ya how to get back down." She winks and shovels in a mouthful of ice cream and whipped cream.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs and contemplates gymnastics for a bit, going quiet. Lots of gears turn around and around for a while. A couple of them seem to merit a faint blush, though which thoughts earn those exactly is anybody's guess.

After a little bit, she offers, "Well, I think I have to get toughened up before I try anything like that. Stretching and things like that.. I don't want a repeat of the Laura thing... It's just good Josh is here."

Storm has posed:
"Jubilee is definitely the person you'll want to get with then," Ororo responds. "She's certainly a firecracker."

As she reaches to take another bite, Ororo feels her purse vibrating. Retrieving an iPhoneX from inside, she takes note of the caller ID and her expression gets serious. "Please, excuse me guys," she apologizes, rising from her chair again. "I have to take this, but get acquainted with each other."

Walking away from the table, Ororo heads outside to answer the phone call.

Twitch has posed:
"Gymnastics? Cool!" Tyler exclaims happily. "I've been lying about being a gymnast for years, it'll be good to actually learn what the heck I'm doing instead of just faking it."

Focusing on Erika for a second Tyler's expression turns to curiosity when he notices her start to blush. The kid opens his mouth to say something about it, but either can't find the words or second guesses himself and shuts up.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee laughs at Tyler and shakes her head. "Well I'll be glad to teach ya. Or even give private lessons if you can't fit it into your schedule. Let me know anytime, and we'll set it up!" She turns to Erika and nods. "You too, y'know. You can start slow."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods vigorously, "Oh, sure! Just, first I need to get in shape. I need to get in shape BAD. The thing with Laura was kind of a really bad wake up call on that. I wouldn't want to try to do something and tear a muscle or something.. I mean, actually learning how to do it is kind of a secondary thing to that, kind of."

She glances around a little bit to see how crowded the place is now, having a premonition that somebody is going to ask about 'The Laura Thing' soon and not quite knowing how to say it in a way that wouldn't turn heads of random strangers.

Twitch has posed:
Tyler chuckles and eases back in his seat, resting his hands on his stomach as he says to Jubilee, "That sounds good to me. Private lessons might be better just so I don't make anyone feel bad about themselves. I've never done gymnastics before but I can blow through a parkour gym."

A smile is sent Erika's way, "You'll get there. We're already going to be working together, we can incorporate more stretching and stuff to make sure you stay safe when you're doing gymnastics." He looks Jubilee's way again, "I bet there's tons of stretching and warm ups before you start doing flips and swinging on bars and stuff, right?"

Jubilee has posed:
"Oh yeah, skads of it. Can't ever be too careful. I nearly went to the Olympics when I was thirteen. Back then I was stretching for at least two hours a day!" She looks impressed at his mention of a parkour gym and nods. "Sounds like you're well on your way, then."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods. "I need to start doing that." She bites her lip a bit and drops her volume for a bit so as not to be picked up by the other people around. "It's all cool to go 'Woah. I know kung fu', but not if I am going to tear things or break my knuckles again."

Her volume goes back up to normal, "So far all I have been doing is some jogging and stuff. I don't know how to set up a routine, and my sleeping schedule is out of whack." She looks oddly at Tyler for a moment. No explanation is forthcoming.

Storm has posed:
Ororo enters the door with a scathing expression for the briefest of seconds, and then it melts away just as quickly as it formed. She returns to the back table, looking on as student and instructor get to know each other, and then places the phone back into her purse. "Sorry about that. What did I miss?" she asks, sitting into her chair with a small glimpse going to her melting dessert.

Twitch has posed:
"Two hours a day?" Tyler lets out a low whistle when hears that number. "I have trouble finding two hours to fit all my training into sometimes." Then he nods his head a couple of times and checks around to see if anyone is listening in on their conversation, "I'm really nimble. You might say it's a special talent of mine."

Erika's odd look gets a confused expression out of Tyler, but he seems content to just shrug his shoulders and let it go.

Then he looks at Ororo and says, "We're just talking about exercising."

Jubilee has posed:
"Yeah I was makin' a pitch for the gymnastics program, 'Ro. I think these two would do pretty well. I may have to steal 'em sometime." Then Jubilee nods toward the phone. "Everything okay?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Well sure! I need to talk to an advisor and figure out a course plan. There's not enough hours otherwise." She frowns in slight frustration. "Some things need to go, or be rearranged."

She gobbles up some ice cream for several bites, quietly stewing on thoughts and planning. "I feel like I should have brought a note pad."

Storm has posed:
Ororo takes the last few bites from her ice cream before she starts on the waffle bowl. Mmm, so good! An eyebrow raises at the topic of discussion, and for a second, she looks at the dessert with guilt. Immediately after that second, she continues to munch on the thing that is doubling her sugar in-take.

"I fear we all will be exercising after this meal," she jokes, breaking off another piece of the bowl. Ororo's head turns to Jubilee at her question, giving the instructor a nod. "Just... work. Always work."

"But everything is fine. We might have to make our way back to the mansion shortly though," she admits, looking at the dessert progress of everyone.

Twitch has posed:
"Well, I'm sold. I think it'll be really beneficial to me," Tyler tells Jubilee with deep nod of his head. "I'm always interested in learning new stuff that might help me become a better fighter."

Tyler polishes off the last bite of his treat and wipes his face with his napkin, tossing it in the bowl when he's done with it. "I wouldn't mind hitting the gym after this digests, but I'll probably end up going to bed or trying to play video games." He looks over the table to see if the others are finished yet, noting that some are still eating he remains planted in his chair.

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee is nearly done with her monstrous pile of ice cream, finishing the last scoop with her last bit of waffle bowl. "That's cool, I'm almost done anyway!" Gotta get back there and see if they restocked the fudgecicles."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir munches on the edge of the bowl. "The last truck was this morning. It affects the kitchen routine.." She shrugs a little. Ororo has some idea why she might have tracked this, nobody else is likely to. "I don't know when my new bed gets here. Crossing my fingers!"

Storm has posed:
Ororo smiles when Erika responds to Jubilee's quip about frozen popcicles. Silently, she wonders what else the student has stored in her brain -- Ororo's signature most likely being one of them.

"Yes, you need a good night of sleep in you," Ororo adds. "I will get with Jean to check on the delivery date. You'll be the first to know."

Blues eyes inspect the remaining portion of the waffle cone and Ororo refuses to eat anymore of the sweet treat; instead, she gathers the wrap, and anything else that needs to be thrown away, and tosses it in the nearest trashcan.

"I hope you guys enjoyed yourselves," Ororo says to all three, and then focuses just on Jubilee. "See you at home, or are you making a detour?"

Twitch has posed:
"Yeah, it was a really nice night out," Tyler says to Ororo with a bright grin on his face. As the trash gets taken care of he starts to stand up to take care of it but he's just not quick enough this time. "I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone at the school better. It feels really good to make friends with people outside of my gym buddies. It's nice to talk about something other than fighting when I go out."

Jubilee has posed:
Jubilee nods and scarfs her cherries as she stands up. "Well. I'm gonna jet. Gotta go check on Remy before I hit the hay. You guys have a BEAUTIFULLY fantastic night!!" She gives a bow with a flourish, turns, and trots out the door into the night, singing to herself.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs.. "Sure! I'll talk to you soon. I'm going to have to get some advice from Tyler here too. It's nice to meet you!" She smiles and watches her leave, then rises. "Okay, I am ready to go. Let me know what kind of things you like talking about?"

Storm has posed:
Ororo nods to Jubilee as she heads out. She grabs her purse and wraps the strap onto a shoulder, looking to the remaining two. "Time to go home," Ororo says, leading the way outside the colorful ice cream parlor. And, from there, home.
