Growing new allies
Date of Scene: 11 July 2018
Location: East Park - Gotham City
Synopsis: Shredder approaches Poison Ivy, and they discuss a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Cast of Characters: Shredder, Poison Ivy

Shredder has posed:
The warm night keeps a plant happy, so Ivy's home should be very happy. A shadowy figure in blades approaches, a red cap covering most of his body. He is escorted by Karai, a young woman who the mistress of the wood will likely remember as the one who scaled her thorny wall.
As they arrive at the large front door, the Shredder tilts his head to see the doorbell installed, but instead of ringing it, he starts to walk casually along the side, reaching a hand out to touch the overgrowth, and let his thumb scrape along a sharp nettle appreciatively.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley sleeps softly in the middle of her garden. She doesn't use a bed - she prefers to lay on the dirt. She's curled around what looks like a cactus - but it's not poking her. She snores softly - nothing is alerting her to the presence of the two. The nettles and guardian trees will only alert her on being damaged or climbed.

Shredder has posed:
Shredder takes his time, "Incredible," he comments. "Good work Karai, his may be very valuable indeed. Karai bows in thanks to her jonin, and he walks back to the door. He reaches out his hand, the tip of one of his fingers stretching out to press the doorbell. "Let us see if she is home," he says.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley slowly opens her eyes as the pleasing chime echoes through the garden. She slowly sits up, blinking, as she adjusts her clothing. She focuses on the figures in front of the gate. It's that ninja girl from earlier, with a guy whom the ninja girl is deferring to. Obviously her boss. She stays sitting by the cactus (which seems to be in an elevated hill like one would put a statue of a hero, as the spiky vines across the gateway pull back. She makse that serve as invitation.

Shredder has posed:
Shredder arches his brow in surprise. It is not often that such an expression crosses his face. "Impressive," he reiterates his earlier sentiment. He is not shy about walking through the horticultural gate. Karai follows, showing an equal level of security, and Shredder approaches the queen of the grove.
"Pamela Isley," he says in a voice of authority. "I have heard tales of your skill with botany, but until today, I thought it an exaggeration."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley raises an eyebrow. "I don't often accept visitors when sleeping. But you, and especially your friend, intrigued me. Please state your identities and your business here?" she asks. The cactus is twiching a bit, the spikes pointing at you two seeming to grow an inch. "Hmmmmmm. You seem vaguely familiar." She rises up as she gazes at the Shredder.

Shredder has posed:
Shredder's eyes shift toward the cactus and it's pointed gaze, then looks back. "I understand you to be a woman of scientific skill, and upon seeing it, I am inclined to agree. I think we could benefit each other quite well. Tell me, what funding do you have for your projects now?" he asks, knowing that she just came from a status of incarceration.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley frowns softly. "I took this land. I don't really own it. But nobody is willing or able to remove me from it, and Batman said I could take this blighted land. I have a small amount of resources but am working on something big." She smiles faintly. "I'm developing a solution to the Gray's assault." She heads over to near the greenhouse and pulls a cloth off of a cage and one of the little fungus crawlers is there, with a few cactus spikes in it so it's just twitching.

Shredder has posed:
"Indeed, that is a worthwhile engagement," Shredder says. "I have had some minor dealing with the growths myself. I would be happy to fund your needs," he says. "I am looking for someone of skill such as yours to augment my forces. Natural defenses may be advantageous to artificial. They are sustainable, self-replenishing. They heal, all things which conventional defenses do not do. I understand you are not inclined to see mankind increase his footprint upon nature, so I find our desires may work in cooperation with one another."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley smiles faintly. "That may be so," she stats softly as the aggressive cactus starts to calm down, echoing Ivy's mood. "But before I can proceed further, I'd need to know your identities and the organization that you work for. I can easily offer such things. But I need to know who I'm dealing with first."

Shredder has posed:
"I am the Shredder," he answers. "You have met my chunin, Karai," he indicates to the now silent girl. "We are the Foot clan. We have been present for some time, and reach across the globe in our influence."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley blinks. "The Foot Clan. So many things are clear now. Like how your chunin was able to scale my fortress wall without so much as a scratch." She hmmmms softly. "So. You want me to fortify certain bases of yours in exchange of funding, yes?" she asks. "I can do that. But are your goals compatible with mine? I have not heard of the Foot Clan caring much about... anybody but themselves."

Shredder has posed:
"Every conqeror must have allies," Shredder says. "Those who stand alone, stand to fall. If we are to accomplish all that we desire, we must find ways to be of value to others." He turns his head to examine the cactus. "So what is it that you want?"

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley nods softly. "The main thing I want is legal deed to this city block. And... an ally who understands how I see the world." She smiles faintly. "Also... you once more neglected to answer a question. How do I know that your goals and mine are compatible? I think my stand on various issues is well-documented. I am a defender of the Green, the elemental force of all plantlife."

Shredder has posed:
"I won't defer to your goals over my own," Shredder says. "I am from another era, technology is only useful to me as far as it levels the playing field against other threats. I believe that you would appreciate my wife," he observes. "She shares your love of nature. I trust her and her alone in this world. I will protect what is important to her, and thus I believe I will often be protecting that which you also cherish." He turns back from the cactus. "Regarding the city block...that may be something I can help you with."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley nods. "Well. As long as you aren't actively destroying plantlife en masse like cutting trees down, I doubt we'll have arguments." She smiles. "I will have to inspect your base to see what I can do. Oh, don't mind the cactus. His name is Cassius and he and two of his siblings took out one of the space fungi. I became fond of my new friend."

Shredder has posed:
"Intriguing," Shredder responds. "Very well, I will provide you the information necessary soon. Perhaps we can help some willing subjects to likewise appreciate nature the way you do." Behind the black mask, he smiles, very optimistic about this relationship.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley grins. "And perhaps you could tech me the legendary fighting style of the Foot Clan. My plants are potent - my personal combat abilities... are... less robust."

Shredder has posed:
Shredder nods. "Be careful what you wish for," he says. "You are not a fighter. Should you come under my clan's teaching, you will understand pain long before you understand victory."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley nods. "I have some martial arts skills - I've had to get them - mostly in prison. Pain is part of life. And something I have endured much. I fear nothing."

Shredder has posed:
Shredder folds his arms. "You will." He turns, and starts to leave. "I will allow you to discuss this with Karai further at a future time. I will send word of what facilities may be best suited, and your funds will arrive in advance. Sleep well, daughter of Earth."
