Synopsis: Erika tracks down Rogue to ask for life advice.
Cast of Characters: Souvenir, Rogue

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir has been doing a lot of research and a lot of prowling through wikis and news articles and the like lately, trying to study up on some of the heroes and villains in the area. And she's at Xavier's, so some people have maybe a little bit more about them than others. And.. she started picking up a thing or two about, well... certain people that seemed like she might have some things in common with.

So now, there's a fifteen year old girl, dressed down a bit in a button up shirt over a band T-shirt, black tights, converses, and a pair of black leather gloves that are almost offensively contrasted with the white top wandering around. Lots of eyeliner. Dark lightly curly hair with low bangs. Sturdy over the shoulder bag. She's looking for somebody. You, in fact.

Rogue has posed:
Its a nice afternoon and Rogue had been in classes all day. She's a full time Avenger these days and that notoriety has changed her life quite a bit, everyone at the school pretty much knows who she is and they treat her a lot different than they did before. Some joke around with her, some ask for autographs and others just want to hang around her. Right now though? Rogue just said 'Bye' to a group of friends who're off to go to a cafe nearby, but Rogue's gotta head back to the Avenger's place soon, so she's finishing up her studies and planning to head out in a few.

She's currently seated at a table near the edge of one of the concrete pathways through the park, her dark brown hair is blowing gently in the winds, but its those white bangs that make her so easily reocgnizeable... thats a style that draws a lot of attention on its own, but now its a dead giveaway to the identity of an Avenger. Rogue is leaned over a tablet computer, reading an article for a class.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir spots what she was looking for, and angles that way. Beelines. She's not trying to hide or anything, and she's not dangerous. When she arrives, she puts her gloved hand on the table in your line of sight, close to one of your hands.

"Hey. Nice gloves. Probably the same kind they gave me." She grins some and flops in opposite to you, then kind of crouches a little bit for a moment, because some of her friends have pretty over the top startle reactions.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's eyes come up when the person sits down across from her and she looks to Erika, thinking that its a classmate at first, but no... Erika is definitely not old enough to be in college. "Hey there." Rogue says in her sultry accented voice. "Do we know each other?" She asks then, looking a bit confused. "You look familiar, but I'm not quite sure if I can place the face."

Rogue does indeed have gloves on, a pair of dark green ones right now that are actually a part of the suit that Stark provided her for her Avengering duty. Her green eyes glance down at them and then glance over to Erika's own gloved hands. "Summer time with gloves, its the best thing ever, right?" Rogue then says, putting her eyes up to the younger teen's own.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods. "..Yeah, it sucks, but it messes me up for a couple seconds if I touch anything, so I don't really have a lot of choice. Um. Anyway, you don't know me. I'm Erika."

She offers her gloved hand to shake. "I just.. I saw about the gloves thing and I felt like I should actually say hi or something. I'm sorry if that sounds super stupid, but like.. I dunno. I had some time, and the other kids are doing stuff I can't really do today." She meets the eyes, pinks ever so slightly and looks away. Her eyes are grey and expressive.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue nods her head lightly a couple of times then and reaches out to accept the other's gloved hand. "Oh." She says at first then, starting to understand their shared plight. "I'm sorry t'hear that... but yeah, I totally understand. A lotta people have started t'find out about my mutation's ins and outs lately." Since she's gone a bit more public persona that kind of information has doubtlessly spread around more. "Are you... from around here?" She asks the girl then. "You go t'school around here?" Being that NYU is in lower manhattan, this park included, and Xavier's School is about 30 minutes north of Manhattan, the southern gal doesn't immediately connected Erika with Savier's, not yet at least.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs.. "Not around *here*, no." She kind of gestures vaguely north-ish. "Outside of town. You probably know the place. I'm originally from Sunnydale though. I had to change schools.."

She wiggles her fingers. "Can't even sleep in a normal bed. Sheesh. Anyways, I just sort of, you know. I dunno."

She sort of fizzles out of words as her idea of how exactly to talk this though runs out. Maybe she'll steal one of the conversationalist type girls socks or something. Nah, probably wouldn't help.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue vaguely looks north-ish when the girl vaguely gestures north-ish. "Xavier's?" She asks then, her eyes going back to Erika's. She leans back in her chair and her right hand comes up to brush some of the white strands out of her face from the warm summer winds blowing over them. "What happens if you sleep in a normal bed?" She asks then. "I'm sorry, I'm just a little confused. You're a mutant too?" She asks, keepoing her voice reasonably quiet as she doesn't want any passer-bys to overhear them and... well, do what people do, judge and sometimes worse. Mutants have it tough after all.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir mmmmm-hmms, keeping her voice low too. "Somebody other than me touched every blanket and sheet I have ever seen, even if it's just for a moment. I touch the blanket, my head kind of blows up remembering them touching it, laundry or whatever, and then I have this blanket just sitting in my brain. And it means I can not fall asleep, no matter what. It started happening after this crazy escape I had to make."

She frowns a bit. "Some of the other students basically had to emergency transport me to the school from home. Now I sleep on a grass table."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue's dark eyebrows lower down after hearing this and she peers over the table at the younger girl. "That sounds... unpleasant." She responds. "But it doesn't do anything if someone touches the clothin' that you're wearin'?" She asks then. "And is it like, all'a your skin? Even the sides'a your face'n such?" She bites down on her bottom lip for a second and then shakes her head side to side. "I'm sorry t'hear that though, that must be a pretty big struggle t'have t'deal with."

A nod is given then. "But if you're at Xavier's then you're at the best place for it. They got a lotta great people workin' there and they'll treat ya good, help ya figure out the best ways to cope with it all. So stick around there, long as ya can."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Pretty much anywhere, yeah. But people don't usually touch my face with things, and it doesn't do anything if people touch MY clothes. That's why the gloves. Just, like.. I don't know. I feel like I'm kind of the weirdo THERE sometimes."

She makes a little bit of a face and thinks. "They were going to play kickball. I mean, unless I can find like, some pro kickball player's shirt or something, I don't even have any business being on the field. How were things for you, back before like, whatever? I dunno, I didn't find out all that much, I guess."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue shakes her head at this and she exhales quickly. "Everyone there feels like an outsider. Its the nature'a the beast when it comes t'dealin' with a mutation that has lead ya t'feel like such. Trust me, all of them feel that way, some'a them just hide it better than othe'as." A quick nod of her head then to the younger girl. "I was only at Xavier's for nine months before I passed my highschool classes and, well.. Now I'm here." She glances around. "They didn't offer college courses at Xavier's until this past Christmas, but I'm already settled here at NYU, so it'd be a big hassle for me t'move back up there. Plus I work here in the city now."

Rogue exhales softly then and glances at a pair of people walking through the park past them. "The kids there can be a-holes, but just keep bein' you and ddon't fret on it none." She puts her eyes back on Erika. "Do your thing, learn how to cope with your power best... learn how t'use it and live with it. Learn how t'use it to find ways t'make you smile. Thats the best way to get comfortable with your mutation, in my experience anyhow."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods and listens intently. "..Ways to make me smile? Like.. How do you mean?" She settles in and listens intently. "Like, what kind of stuff did you do that made you smile?"

She bites her lip, visibly chewing on the first bit of advice. Trying to think of what that means for her. She slowly ticks people off, subtly counting on her fingers and contemplating what she knows about them.

Rogue has posed:
Rogue laughs a bit awkwardly at this question and she looks down toward the table and reaches up to push some of her hair back behind an ear with her right hand. "Ah... I'm a bad role model, if thats what ya came all the way down here t'ask about." She says back to the other. "I used my mutation t'do a lotta bad things, and I've only recently kinda gotten away from that." She nods her head a pair of quick times then and looks back to Erika. "I was with the Brotherhood'a Mutants for awhile, Magneto's old group. The ones that are... sorta... aggressively fightin' for mutant rights in the world. Eventually I came t'understand that they were just flat out doin' it wrong, so I left. But yeah, back then, I did some stuff that was fun and all, but also really really bad."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods and listens. "Ooh, okay. Well, it's okay to not be a great role model as long as you have better advice how to do it better next time, right? I dunno, I just felt like.."

She tapers off, trying to think about it a bit. "So like, I had a talk with one of the teachers, because I wanted to get help getting souvenirs. For that, like.. I was hoping people would wear some wristbands while they were doing stuff that might come in handy. So I could use them later if I needed to know things. And one of the teachers said it was a bad idea because I needed to work on 'using my powers wisely'..."

She fumes a bit. "But like.. That's my whole power. That's all I do. And I have friends that move really fast or heal or whatever else and I'm just.. some girl. with gloves. That can't get wristbands so I can even be a little bit useful sometimes. I mean.." She frowns. "I don't know. You do cool stuff without having to touch things. I don't."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue sits up straighter in her chair after hearing this and folds her forearms overtop of each other on the edge of the table while she stares over the table at the other. "Yeah... I understand. But lookit.." She clears her throat and levels her gaze on Erika. "You're more than your mutation, Erika." She tells the girl she doesn't really even know. "A lot more. You gotta focus on the person you are... inside... unrelated t'those effects'a the genetics in your body. So weird stuff happens when ya touch things? Big deal... its just part'a your life. But the focus should be figurin' out how t'live with it and then figure out what you wanna DO while you LIVE."

Rogue nods her head once then and glances around. "Thats why I'm here, studyin' t'become a teacher. I wanna move over seas t'Europe and teach in some fancy school somewhere. I'm not gonna worry about whether or not I touch someone and what'll happen after... I'm worryin' about what I wanna do with my life despite all'a that... Thats what matters."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir sighs and lowers her head, so her bangs cover her eyes. "Yeah, I guess I don't know. Everything has just been super crazy, you know? And my family is bad role models. So I just.. I don't know who to even talk to anymore."

She bites her lip and then hands over a note card with her name and contact stuff on it. "I don't know, maybe we can talk some other time? I super appreciate it. I mean like.. you're super helpful. And like, you have way cooler gloves than I do."

Rogue has posed:
The note card is accepted and slid back over to her side of the table. She affords the other girl a soft grin and a nod. "I'll have a box'a them sent over t'the school with your name on it. They let you swipe a cell phone screen and it'll actually register your finger." A larger grin blossoms on her lips then. "Its pretty darn useful these days, since every damn thing around is a touch screen'a some kind or another."

She reaches into her leather messenger bag and pulls out a card with her own information on it and an Avengers logo... these cards were issued to her after she joined the team. "Take this, got my social media crap on it and other ways'a contactin' me if ya need some help or just an ear to chat at."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir smiles and gets a little bit moist eyed. "Thank you.. I'll let you finish reading stuff now. And if you can like.. sneak some of Stark's old socks or something so I can invent something, or I don't know, something like that.. I never know what's going to come in handy.. Even if it's just like, the best restaurants or something.. It'd be cool."

Rogue has posed:
Rogue shows a slight smirk then and slowly nods her head once. "We'll see what we can pull off, sugah." She replies to the younger girl. "Stark's a bit of a weirdo once ya actually get t'knwo the real guy. Nice enough, but yeah... I don't think I've ever seen a single piece'a stray clothin' that belonged t'him anywhere. He's very... tidy? I guess is the word." A quick shake of her head then back and forth. "Anyway, yeah, I'm happy t'help ya if you find somethin' helpful about me." She laughs just a bit. "Enjoy Xavier's though, it really is a great place. Way better than livin' on the streets, lemme tell ya!"
