Changeling: The Hell Out of Dodge
Date of Scene: 25 July 2018
Location: Unknown
Synopsis: Skye visits Fury, ostensibly to wrap up the remainder of her China vacation now that he's seen her reports, but really she's dropping intel on him about Genus, the Hand, Zola and Hydra... and things she found out in the village she was born in. In all, just a regular day at the office for Skye.
Cast of Characters: Quake, Nick Fury
Tinyplot: Changeling

Quake has posed:
A plan of sorts was in place. At least enough of the bones of an idea of how things were going to play out that Skye felt confident on taking the matter to Fury. Sure, he knew Genus was compromised, but the extent of hadn't been at this level prior. The pressure on their contact had gotten to unbearable levels, and the fact of the matter was, it was no longer by a single person within the Hand. Alliances were splitting there, and Genus was in danger.

Plan in hand, along with the tidbits tying it all together (some of which Skye still didn't know if she was dropping on the man yet), Skye made her was to Fury's office for what was becoming a rather regular briefing session.

Was it Friday at 2? Or Wednesday at 3? Monday at 11? It was regular enough his secretary didn't even blink or balk about buzzing the Agent on in. Well, more like telling her boss Skye was here, rather than trying to distract Skye with excuses why Fury couldn't be disturbed.

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury is once again behind his desk as was more common in recent weeks. Sighing, and taking a drink of a clear liquid in a see-through glass, Fury taps on the desk absently with his other hand. His eye scans the information on his screen, and he leans back, rubbing his eye. Looking old all of a sudden, Fury shakes his head, and hears the signal from the Agent outside. Fury says, "Enter!" Maybe a bit more brusque than he wanted to. It was a good time to be updated on what was going on, and fill Fury in.

Quake has posed:
Skye ignores the brusque. It's not only par for the course, but she's come into her own enough that it doesn't even register as a problem anymore. She has a job to do, and whether or not Fury is in a pissy mood, the job is getting done.

She's not offering her usual smirk, however, which suggests she's dealing with rather more than her fair share of foo as well.

"Uh.. so, we never got to check in after the vacation. Just thought you'd like to know that we're back and on the rotation again."

Of course that's the smokescreen. Evident by htee fact she's pulled the lighter he'd given her out of her pocket and begun fiddling with it in the way of a fidget toy. She does it a lot lately - and usually not to the end it was given to her for; just enough to create a baseline for her pulling it out at odd times and fiddling. Just enough to cover when it is actually employed.

Like now.

Once she's sure the device is doing its job..

"We're pulling Genus. He's caught in the crosshairs of an internal turf war with the Hand. Don't ask how I know, but their Fist is willing to look the other way and not poke too hard at whatever we do to take him out. Won't help us, but won't hinder. Before you celebrate that, though, it's totally complicated by the fact that they're losing control of the organization. So we have that to look forward to."

A nod. "Have some infor on my parents as well, but that's peripheral. Just think you might want to hear what I learned there, too."

Nick Fury has posed:
"Agent Johnson." Fury says, and the tired expression on his face vanishes. "I see from your speed at coming into the office that you have something on your mind. I assume it is about your latest mission?" Fury studies her for a moment, reading her and assessing her state of mind and mood. No smirk...hmmm.

"Glad to hear you are back." Fury says, his voice low and deep. Not wanting to interrupt her, of course. Listening to her comments, and then seeing the device followed by the report, Fury nods, and leans back in his chair. His eye peers at her, and he waits for her to finish.

"Ah. I figured that was what would happen. Pulling him out. Makes a lot of tactical sense." Fury agrees with her assessment. "The Hand...the Hand..." Something glimmered there, behind his eye, but he doesn't comment further. He knew something. "I trust you will deal with your C.I. as you have been trained. Now...your parents?"

Quake has posed:
Skye nods, feeling a tad guilty about not dropping a certain Matt Murdock's connection to one leader of the Hand, but she wasn't sure that she was done with that loose end yet... and there was the small matter that Matt was both her friend. And Lawyer. And dear gods, the man was Daredevil. What the fuck was she supposed to do with that?

"The extraction team will be small. Nat. May. Clint. I've pulled in a couple of associates. I won't be involved. Too many ties from me to the setup and outside sources that would compromise the mission and others." There's a shrug from the woman. "The official story will read Hydra. We'll need a new identity for my informant."

Which covered the bulk of what Fury needed to know on that. The other, though? Slightly more complicated while being utterly less complicated at the same time.

"Yeah. Visited the village where I was born. Old man there claims my mother was a goddess. We know it was Hydra that attacked, and that they were after her.. and likely this set of crystals we retrieved. Zola's been in contact with me.. and Hydra knows we were there."

Nick Fury has posed:
Fury listens to Skye, his frown growing a tad larger than normal. "Good team choices. You have my support. Calling in the Cavalry huh?" Fury nods emphatically. "Hydra..ok. Good work on this. I know it got hot."

His eye looks at her, and with a touch of empathy there, nods, and says, "I understand Skye." Her first name. "It is a lot to deal with. Family is hard. I'm behind you, 100 percent. Whatever you need, we're here." Fury leans forward. "Never forget we're a team. I am sure Agent Barton will be there to help as well." Was that a ghost of a smile?

Quake has posed:
Now Skye allows a hint of a smile. "He's pretty cool with all this. More than I am, that's for sure. Fucked if I know why he's not bothered by the fact that I'm not exactly human."

But it's a shortlived grin.

"I think R&D might want to take a look at the crystals I brought back. I'm sure that's what Hydra wanted. At the very least, they may not be safe at our house given the great big dotted line we drew from me to that village. I have names now, though. Feels pretty weird. And a picture."

Nick Fury has posed:
"Good. I expected as much. Glad to hear it." Fury takes another drink from his glass and eyes Skye. "I'm not bothered by you as well, human or not. It's what is inside that counts. Kind of reminds me about colour of skin as well. Doesn't matter. We're all human. Well, mostly anyway." Fury says that last with a wry semi-grin.

"Take the crystals to R&D. Fitz and Simmons are always good for that. Keeps them happy. Happy employees, happy Director." Fury nods. "Look forward to your report. Keep up the good work." Fury taps his screen. Without looking up, Fury says, "Anything else?"

Quake has posed:
Skye considers. Anything else? Likely. But she had to parse out what bits were safe to tell him, and what weren't. Other lives were at stake, as were keeping lines of contact and information open. She knew he trusted her, and her instincts. If he didn't, she'd be a piss poor excuse for an Agent, and she'd proven she wasn't that, or she'd be behind a desk right now.

"That's about it for now, boss. All the news that's fit to tell. I'll likely be making a splashy appearance while the op is going on. Somewhere in the vicinity of. All eyes on me kind of thing, but the details aren't fully in place."

She shrugs.

"Unless you've got some face forward mission you can send me on as a cover to the other, I may make a public specatacle of myself with Tony Stark."

Nick Fury has posed:
"Stark! Hmmm." Fury was about to say something, but withheld that bit of information. "No, I think you are good. You have enough on your plate. ANything else would be a lot to take. So, do what you need to do, keep me informaed, and we are good. Thank you." With that dismissal, Fury releases her from the reporting. He must be distracted by something...something big.

Quake has posed:
Everything in order, or at least as in order as she can make it right this second, and without prying into fury further, Skye nods, fingers fiddling at the lighter. "Anyway, we're settled back. And yeah, other than that wee incident you already know of, I thnk we behaved ourselves. Just thought you should know."

She smirks, and gives a mock salute.

"Catch you on the flip side, boss."

And with that, Skye takes her leave.
