Burgers and friends
Date of Scene: 25 July 2018
Location: Sunnydale
Synopsis: Erika and Dawn catch up over hamburgers.
Cast of Characters: Dawn Summers, Souvenir

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn's simply out-and-about. Things have been remarkably quiet of late. Which usually means that there's just more trouble brewing. But trouble can wait till after her combo meal. The brunette is out after school, picking up a little snack before heading off to the Magic Box. They get nervous if she brings food near the ancient books. Go figure.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir slips in, looking pretty much like she was in high school not that long ago. Well, the skintight leather gloves are new you guess, and the shoulder bag is different. And maybe she lost some weight? Hard to say.

Anyways, she comes drifting in, looking around and going straight to the counter to order a basic hamburger meal before leaning on the counter to look around. She sees you and waves, "Hey! How have you been?" with a smile. Oh thank god, someone familiar!

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn looks over, and there's a smile, after a moment. A relieved one. When someone disappears around this town, they usually don't crop up again. Well, at least not in the day. She gives a wave. "Hey, Erika! How's it going?" She pushes out a chair on the other side of the table with a leg, offering it to her.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir grabs her tray and wanders over. "Awesomely awesome. I made sure to get an earlier start today. What've you been up to?" She climbs into the chair and settles stuff on the table. "I had a close call last time I was in town because my friend was dragging his feet a little, and he was my ride. He's not from around here."

Dawn Summers has posed:
"Same stuff, different day. Enjoying summer vacation. Wishing it wasn't going to end." Dawn answers. She looks over. "Cookie." She got a box, and really shouldn't eat all.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods and grabs a cookie. She's not going to turn down a desperate appeal to take a cookie! She munches on the edge of it. "Oh god yeah I know. I got in trouble and got sent to a private school. They have summer classes." She doesn't mention that the two aren't correlated in the normal way. "At least they're /cool/ classes. Some of them anyways. What's been going on in town, anything?"

Dawn Summers has posed:
"Oh, jeez. You're kidding me. Your folks sent you off to /boarding school/?" Dawn looks horrified. "How'd you get out then? And you know Sunnydale. Same as ever."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs, "I get along with the staff pretty good. I'm getting some of my stuff from home today, here and there. It's allowed, as long as they don't have to come rescue me again."

Her eyes get dark and she looks off to the side, tilting her head down to shroud her eyes with her hair a bit. "Somebody tried to *eat* me. Like, what the hell."

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn blinks. "Wait. What?" she asks, looking back at Erika with a little bit of flat "what" tone. "At the school, or? Are we talking Jeffrey Dahmer stuff or what?" She knows a lot about Sunnydale's weirdness, but she's not one to mention it.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir takes a long breath. "Like vampire movie crazy stuff. Sun went down on our way out of town, we ran over a screw on the road, we had to pull over, and some people pulled up next to us and said they were going to eat us and jumped us. My friends are legit badasses and a teacher pulled up, or I don't know what we would do."

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn looks over. "That's kinda crazy. I'd figure a vampire would be kinda more badass than students and stuff." In fact, if anythin, she's a little suspicious. She knows what it usually takes to take one down.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods. "Well... yeah.." She frowns awkwardly. "Like REALLY badass." She kind of gestures vaguely, not quite sure how to gloss over that bit. She's silent for a few seconds, trying to figure out how to respond to that.

She uncomfortably runs her fingers over her gloves, feeling a bit attacked here. Totally justified. "..Like.. Capes and spandex level badass, okay?"

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn blinks in surprise. "Wait. You went off to school with superheroes? Are you a superhero??" She asks in a hiss of a whisper. Oh, that is so unfair! Why does everyone get to be awesome but her?!

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir gaaack. She looks around uncomfortably at that outburst. Well, it was a very quiet outburst, but she still looked around nervously. Uhh... How to answer this, anyways...

After a moment of thought, she ventures a quiet, "Well.. um... I'm like, the tagalong they try to keep out of trouble. Does that count?" She bites her lip awkwardly.

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn is wide-eyed. "Being a sidekick can still be superheroey. What do you do? Are you bulletproof? Do you fly??"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir blinks, "I /wish/. Um. The word is 'psychometry'. I like.. open combination locks and copy diary entries and stuff." She frowns and chews her lip a bit. "I stabbed one of the vampires with a pencil and it turned into ashes. It wasn't.. quite.. me doing the stabbing, but still. Not like the werewolf or the one that dodges bullets for a workout and then does MMA on top of that."

She frowns some. "Most of the time it just kind of makes everything awkward, though. People think I'm just trying to cheat on stuff or something. And like.. right now I basically don't have anything on me that's really useful. Like, if another vampire shows up, I'm hosed. I don't know anything about them."

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn's actually heard that term before. When you deal with the magic side of things, Psychometry comes up. "Psychometry. Still, that can be really awesome. There was a cool TV show about a guy who had that. Does it just work backwards, or does it work forward too? Can you see the future?" She has tons of questions. "What if you had a book about how to kill vampires? Would you know all of a sudden?"

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir blinks. "Uh. Well like, if someone who knew about vampires was thinking about how to kill vampires, and maybe did a few moves that were good at killing vampires, then they gave me the shirt, I would know how to kill vampires, at least for awhile. I can't read the future."

She frowns and thinks a little, and eats a few bites of hamburger, considering. "Um... and I have to wear gloves because touching things kind of messes me up for a couple seconds. Like, I can't even sleep on a regular bed anymore. That's like... why I'm at boarding school, basically. Um.. Like how do you know that? Like, the people at school don't even know what that means, mostly."

Dawn Summers has posed:
"One of my sister's friends runs a magic shop. So you run across weird stuff." She thinks about it. "Couldn't you sleep in pajamas? If they were yours?" Dawn's already thinking it through. "How long does it last? Like, if someone gave you the shirt."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir shakes her head. "You'd think. But like.. somebody did a little bit of sewing and boxing on it once. I don't know how to deal with it yet. And my head starts getting fuzzy after a couple hours, and then I can't read it anymore." She looks a little bit awkward.

She hmms. "I'm not sure what to think about it. It's like suddenly somebody changed the station and I don't know what's going on anymore. And then I come back and things look normal, and oops! Vampire!" She stares at the table. "Like, layers and layers of weird."

Dawn Summers has posed:
"Still. It's still a superpower, and that's kinda cool. I mean, most of us don't even get that. Plus, now you have an excuse to wear cool gloves." Dawn smiles.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ehs. "I tried to give my friend a hug, but it went totally haywire because my face touched his sleeve. Like, the only way I get to be *normal* would be at like, a nudist colony now." She makes a face. "I miss just having to worry about english class and those stupid bell prompts. And like, hanging out with my friends."

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn can't help but giggle. "Well, not really. Wouldn't that make it a bigger risk? Or do you have to touch things, and not people?" she asks. "Ugh. High school. You're so not missing anything."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir looks to the side. "I have a celebrity in one of my classes. Dra-ma. And I can touch people all I want, it's /things/ that make everything light up. Not like somebody else I talked to that's basically the opposite."

She frowns a little as a detail clicks. "Wait, a magic shop? So do you like, do... you know... wizardy stuff when nobody is looking or something?"

Dawn Summers has posed:
"I don't do anything." Dawn says, sounding less than happy about that. "I'm just...teenage girl 101. Depressingly basic." she sighs, and munches a cookie after that.

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs. "Right now, that sounds pretty good. I was kind of hoping to get a break from, you know. Surreal. But I think I just ended up in a different KIND of it here. And I don't even have any souvenirs that will do anything for me right now. I feel naked. Like, I'd have to ask you to back me up here if a zombie attacked." She munches on the burger more, not knowing anything about zombies, but at this point would it really be that weird?

Dawn Summers has posed:
"Well, if you get a vampire, you're supposed to stake them through the heart, right? So maybe keep one in your purse or something, if that's gonna be a thing."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ums.. "I got the stake through the heart bit down.." She shivers a little. "I don't know how to fight yet though. That was someone else's memories that did that part. The stake is useless if I can't use it."

She frowns. "I'm taking a few lessons, but it's going to take a lot more than a few lessons. I don't even know how to make a stake right. I mean, it matters a little, doesn't it?"

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn shrugs her shoulder. "I figure any sharp pointy wood would work? Maybe like a sharp broomstick or something? I guess if you had a lathe you could turn it or something? Bet your thing would make you a great spy, though."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir nods, "Oh yeah, totally. I can copy stuff people typed on a keyboard and stuff. But that's not quite the same thing as dodging bullets or turning into a werewolf or throwing rocks like they were nothing. They had a kickball game and I had to sit it out. From what I hear, it was cray."

Dawn Summers has posed:
"Beats not having powers, though." Dawn smiles, finishing her lunch. "Look...I gotta get going. If I'm too late, my sister will absolutely lose her mind. She freaks out all the time."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir ohs.. "Well, I guess. I kind of wish I could give them to you. Hey look, here's my number, okay? If you ever want to get a hold of me or, you know. Just talk or something." She frowns a bit. "Or, you know. Whatever. I miss having friends that don't, I dunno. Pick fights with killer cyborgs and stuff all the time."

Dawn Summers has posed:
Dawn nods. "Sure!" She looks at it, and texts Erika so she'll have hers in reply. "Promise. No killer cyborgs."

Souvenir has posed:
Erika Kristasdottir gives a thumbs up. "It'll be super awesome. Ordinary stuff! I can be your sidekick. Talk to you later!"

Dawn Summers has posed:
With that, Dawn grins, and gets up, exiting. "Take care, and catch you soon!"
