Cast of Characters: June Connor, Slipstream

June Connor has posed:
June grabbed one more thing on the way out of her apartment, a loose brick on the outside of the building had $200 behind it. Of course, when that loose brick is several feet away from the fire escape, it's not likely anyone else would have found it.

She has been quiet on the way back. Nothing has been said about Donnie, or anything else. She reaches a street drain. "Hope you aren't a germaphobe," she says. "Cuz we're gonna go down there."

Slipstream has posed:
There is a scowl upon Drake's face as his mind is lost in thought. With her being silent, it dosen't give him a lot to talk about. His mind is still on the dead body that he just saw. "Huh?" He says, giving a shake of his head. "Why are we going down there for?" He says with a wrinkle of his nose. "I can just speed us back.. at least a good chunk of the way. I don't wanna go down there... may be gators."

June Connor has posed:
"Just the morlocks," June says. "Your speed thing kills you, you shouldn't use it more than you have to." She says it as if she is his mother. "If we stay in the main pipes, we can avoid the Morlocks. I don't trust the subway, and I'm kinda tired to do the whole 'jump across the rooftops' thing right now."

Slipstream has posed:
"I have too much respect to go sewer swimming. I'll just contact the Avengers and get a pick up." Drake says as he slips his phone out to tap along the screen. "You're gonna like being an Avenger by the way if you can get in. You know we get a paycheck and free housing? It's pretty awesome. I had no clue I was even getting a salary until Tony told me about it." He taps a few more times to summon a car. Probably going to be self driving. Hopefully it hovers. That would be cool. "It'd be really cool to just do kickass stuff with you also. Maybe get you a costume." He teases.

June Connor has posed:
June frowns, looking away. "Drake," she says slowly, with more care than she might normally. "I don't want to be an Avenger. All the questioning, they kept me in that cell for a reason. They don't trust me. And even if I did want to, and they did trust me? If I step outside that mansion, how many steps do you think I'd get before I'd be dead? Five? Ten?"

Slipstream has posed:
"They asked you questions they'd ask anyone trying to get information out to resolve the issue. They had to figure out who you were. It's not like they can just take my dumb word over it, sides, you're out, right? You have a room at the mansion. They are offering you a /chance/. It's safe. You have the worlds mightiest heroes as your allies. Resources, training." Drake lists off to her with a sigh. "You got me to watch your back. And we've been walking all night and you aren't dead yet. Please. Just trust me on this? Haven't I proved to you by now that I have your best interests? I wouldn't set you up to fail."

June Connor has posed:
June shakes her head. "I am not stupid, Drake," she answers. "I know how to read stuff like this. They trained me to figure out how to get past defenses, and I'm using that right now. This is a window. The window is going to close. And the last thing I need is another fucking ghost to haunt me," she says with an angry jab of her finger. Perhaps reference to the one she just saw upstairs.

"What I learned in the Foot? Is it doesn't matter how good you are. It doesn't matter what training you have. It only takes one mistake to be dead, and I'm sure as hell not ready to meet my maker."

Slipstream has posed:
"You are sure acting stupid. Oh, what's the big plan? Run away to where? Somewhere out in the fucking open where this big, scary, shadowy organization that you've been selling me on can track you down anywhere in the world and kill you, as opposed to living with /the world's greatest fucking superheroes of all time/ in a heavily fortified headquarters with trillions of dollars at their disposal, government support and allies with every other super group in the world? Because you'd be so much fucking safer out there in the great unknown living on the streets or abandoned warehouses?" Drake says with a motion of his hands up in the air in frustration. "You /will/ die if you leave. We can change your identity. Hell, I'm sure we can even change your fucking face and make you black and three hundred pounds with tattoos or something. We're the /Avengers/. You can train with the Black Widow. Greatest spy of all freaking time. Why are you so scared to give this a chance for?"

June Connor has posed:
June looks around. "We gotta get out of the open," she says, moving into the alley and lowering her voice to a whisper. "I'm not gonna just run out into wherever," she says in a low voice. "Okay? I made a contact, and unlike the Avengers, the Foot doesn't know I have this contact. She's in Gotham, it's where I've been the last few days. And right now, I'm really freaked out, because it's been four days since I escaped Karai with my head still attached, which also happens to be the record of how long anyone has survived a traitor death mark." She arches her brow. "So pardon me if I'm a little fuckin' paranoid right now."

Slipstream has posed:
"You made a /contact/ in Gotham?" Drake raises a brow upwards. "So you're gonna move to Gotham to be with someone that you don't really know, as opposed to running with the guy who has sacraficed himself over and over and over again for you?" Drake says, frustration and hurt rising in his voice. "Just like that? I spend months trying to gain your trust and you just easily jump ship with someone you /just/ met? I'm still waiting for the part where you convince me this is a good idea."

June Connor has posed:
June gives a deadpan stare. "So that's what this is gonna be about?" she asks. "You feeling slighted because I'm makin' a call to stay with someone who's not you? For your information, shithead, it's a girl. And it's safest for now. She's got some abilities that I don't think the Avengers have, and she's got a place the Foot doesn't know exists. I don't want you sacrificing for me. You got that shit that's killing you, okay? This isn't about some macho attempt to impress, or getting me to go out with you. I get that you just had your hot girlfriend dump you, and I'm sorry, but I ain't here to be your rebound girl. 'Specially not when it could mean that one or both of us ends up dead."

Slipstream has posed:
"Wow. You really are a bitch." Drake spits out at her. "You think that's why I'm upset about this? Why do you always circle back to that? I hit you with logic and the only thing you can do is attack my emotions in return? You are dumb as a doorknob if you think your new toy to manipulate has anything over the Avengers. You know what? Go fuck yourself June. Thanks for nothing. Glad that friendship and loyalty means nothing to you." He squeezes his hand into a tight fist and starts out of the alley.

June Connor has posed:
June snags Drake's shoulder as he turns around, and she shoves hard to press him against the alley wall. "You bastard. I care about you, okay? I don't want to hurt you. I can tell you got feelings for me, I get it, okay? You hide it like the elephant in the room. I'm not trying to shut you out, or shut you down, or anything else, but I get where you are with your ex, and I don't wanna just be the next in line, okay? I'm not ready for that. And right now?" She frowns, backing up like she's going to cry. No tears come out. "Right now I just need a place to stay for tonight. You wanna protect me, and that's noble as hell. But I am a bitch. I really am. I gotta make my own call. I'm not tryin' to dip on you forever. But I got people trying to /kill/ me. I gotta be someplace they won't know about. That's it. And the bitch I'm stayin' with is Batgirl, okay? So, I'm pretty sure she knows her shit."

Slipstream has posed:
As he is slammed against the wall, Drake grows defensive quickly as he pushes her back, placing a foot behind him to propel off if need be. "And I can seperate whatever feelings I have for you to make impartial decisions that I feel is best for you." He hisses out at her. "I don't want you to be next in line. I don't want any girl to be next in line. Do you know why I sit on a computer all day pretending to be a superhero for the last how many years of my life? Because I /suck/ with people. I never dated before. I don't even like sex. I'd rather hide on a keyboard than be out here in the real world and the /only/ reason why I am is because I feel like I have this great responsibility now that I have these powers. I can't let a guy like Tony fucking Stark down!" He says with frustration in his voice. "He believes in me. He's the first guy in my life to ever believe in me. I never had a dad. I never even had a mom. For the first time I have a /family/."

He shrugs his shoulders upwards, followed by an emotional sniff from him. "I consider you to be family also, June. You're afraid to get killed, but I'm the one wearing scars from defending you. But you do you, okay? Go have fun with.. Batgirl. I can see why she'd be a step up from /Captain America/ and /Iron Man/." He grunts out sarcastically to her. Taking in a deep breath, he stares at her for a moment, then knuckles a tear away from his cheek. "Good luck I guess. Don't get whacked by a D list villain like the Joker while you're over there." He says, then inches past her to head for the sidewalk as the Avenger's car pulls up out front. It hovers. At least that's a win.

June Connor has posed:
June's eyes shift back to the car, and follows toward it. She has her jaw pulled forward. "I don't want you having any more scars because of me," she says simply. "Maybe things will change some, you know? Just come visit me and stuff, Gotham's not that far." She shrugs, "Listen to me, shit, I'm turning into a sap. See what you've done?" she accuses with a tease. "Turning me into a pussy."

Slipstream has posed:
Tugging the door open, Drake says, "Well, these guys have been following me every since you came into my life. Pretty sure if I visited you in Gotham they would follow me and then blow your hiding spot." He states as he climbs into the back of the car, peeking over to see that it is indeed driver less. It even has a bottle of water waiting for him, which he happily plucks and screws the cap off.

June Connor has posed:
June nods, getting in the other side of the car. "Yeah, probably true. Don't let'm kill you, okay?" she says, putting the bag of clothes in her lap. "If they can't find me, they'll probably come lookin' for you. And they really do have ways of making you talk. Stuff I've heard they do, gives me nightmares just to think about it."

Slipstream has posed:
"I'll make sure to get the Men in Black flash thingy when I get back to the mansion then." Drake says as he takes another sip of the water, then punches in the 'home' command on the back of the seat in front of him to give the AI driver directions. He leans in against the window on his side, pressing his forehead to the glass to watch the world whip by as the hover car takes off, then upwards.
