Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Corusca, Wonder Woman

Corusca has posed:
When you dress to impress, one has to know the audience. Her return to the Eastern seaboard of the United States finds her with business in Metropolis and discovering that the mythic realm of Themyscira has revealed itself by way of an embassy. Intrigued, Miranda Madsen, the quiet Canadian financier, made an appointment to visit the Consulate. So it is that she comes calling with a chauffered sedan (driven by a woman) and stepping out wearing a flowing white dress in a style vaguely remeniscent of the Grecian chiton. Her golden skin is a study in contrast which she maintains with a rope necklace which is wrapped such that it appears as a river of silver about her neck. Her hair has been teased into loose curls and falls as a gilded contrast down her back. She walks with grace and poise, every step fluid as though she were trained from birth. As she reaches the top step, she takes a pause to look around at the grounds.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Since this was an arranged appointment to tour the grounds, those within the Home are ready and waiting for the arriving party. When Miranda pasues at the flight of stone steps, the doors to the Consulate open and an Amazonian woman, appearing quite youthful in age, tall with fire red hair braided in a series of loops about the crown of her head offers a soft smile to Miss Madsen. "Miss Madsen, yes?" The Amazon asks then. "We are happy to receive you." She said then in her thickly accented English. "Please, come inside. I hope that the trip here was without any troubles."

Diana herself, wasn't visible, though it was said that she would be present on the day.

"My name is Adrastea, I will be your guide." The redheaded Amazon said in her soft and calming voice. She was dressed in an white robe that loosely hung down her form, it was embroided with waving patterns of gold that intricately stretched from foot to shoulders of the tall young-looking woman.

Corusca has posed:
Miranda looks back with a cool poise to her and smiles kindly to Adrastea. "Thank you, Adrastea." Her presence is certainly greater than her average height would suggest. She was a woman used to being in command even if she was young.. yet there was somehow something more. Following Adrastea inside, she comments, "I like your dress. Very nicely done. I thought I might try to guess at something appropriate but I hadn't thought to embroider with gold. It is a nice touch." If there was a metal detector or similar, she passes through it without fuss and accepts any scrutiny of her small handbag. Personal items, a PDA, no weapons. "I have heard so much about your island. Is it truly all women there?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Adra is fine." The redhead offered then a shorter variation of her name along with a soft smile as she stepped aside to welcome the other into the foyer of the grand home. Her green eyes glanced down at the robe she was wearing and she then looked back to Miranda and smiled more broadly. "Thank you, ma'am." She said to her. "It is the robes worn by those of us who are here, away from Themyscira, and in the service of Princess Diana. My other sisters, who have left home to be here, also wear such. Beneath that is our given armorsets. We wear them during the day for cermonial purposes. Even if the Princess has told us it would be perfectly acceptable to wear commoners clothing." Adra showed a small expression there to suggest that the notion of wearing the clothing of 'commoners' was something she was against at her very core. "And yes, m'lady. Our home is a place of women, a place of solitude for us from the madness of Man's world."

Adra would close the front double doors then and move toward the center of the large foyer that was loaded with art and fancy decorations from their homeland.

Corusca has posed:
"That sounds delightful." Miranda finds herself actually meaning it and her tone is almost wistful. She blinks then begins taking in the interior as Adra leads them along. "Please, Adrastea, I like the name and it is yours. Unless you would prefer Adra. It is, after all, yours." She smiles broadly at that then gives Adra alooking over. "Honestly, I don't much like jeans and shirts and the like. They're so confining and aren't nearly so nice on the skin as chiffon." The speach about commoners and the like doesn't seem to phase her. It's almost as though she considers most people she deals with to be 'common'. "Am I also to understand that you do not value.. wealth.. such as it is. Money, I should clarify. Gold, the titterings of the global monetary systems, the like." She gives a lazy roll of the wrist, etc.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Adra would gently dip her chin in a nod at the bit about her name. "I like both." She said then in regards to the options of which to refer to her as. She would stand there facing Miranda with her hands closed together in front of her robe-covered lap, watching the other with her green eyes to be attentitive and polite in conversational needs.

"Well." She started then to answer the wealth topic. "I would very much say Yes to that, ma'am." And she let her green eyes roam around the hall that they stood within. "But to say that here, would make me look like quite the hypocrit." She offered then, looking back to Miranda and smiling a bit again. "Though this... manor, or estate... whatever the word you would prefer... does not simply serve as our home. We host many here, to give them place to stay and refuge when needed. What wealth we have, we try hard to make sure it does not simply benefit us. But as many as we can afford the priveledge unto."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda seems to consider this notion for a moment. Her aquamarine eyes are attentive and her head tilted just enough to show she is focused upon Adra's words. "No no. I understand. To appreciate beauty and to spend effort in that craft is not the same as valuing the wealth which made it. And to spend that wealth to the betterment of the people.." She lifts her hands from her sides in a kind of shrug them drops them to her hip with a light slap. "I have far too much money, Adrastea. More than I will ever need. To be fair, as much as I go through the motions of generating more wealth, it isn't very fulfilling. It's mostly.. just what a Madsen does." She offers the last pragmatically.

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Oh." Adreastea said back at the other woman. "I see." She continued on but paused again. It seemed rather obvious at this point that Adra wasn't exactly an experienced member of the wide-world-at-large, she might even be described as 'fresh off the boat' from their isolated homeland.

"You could... throw money at people from atop one of these Glass Towers?" She asked then with a slight tilt of her head. "Though I suppose that would cause quite a ruckuss on the street level, where they all plow about in their metal monstrosities." Adra seemed to ponder this internally for a moment before she turned toward the other end of the hall and started to walk, assuming Miranda would follow. It was a long hall and she wasn't walking too fast as of yet.

"I am sorry that your money has become a burden to you, Miss Madsen." Adra added then. "I would suggest finding those who are without any, and perhaps changing their life by gifting some upon them. Though perhaps... there are consequences to even that, that I am sadly unaware of."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda was amused now. Genuinely. There was a twinkle in her eye and a slight smile.. but she didn't laugh. Not at this innocent. No, she would not be the one to assail it. Her eyes closed languidly as she recalled a time when she was less than worldly. When she opened them, Adrastea was walking and so she took purposeful strides to catch up. "It is funny that you suggest that. I offered to do just that for someone yesterday and, oddly, they balked. I think I just surprised them. They did not strike me as a person used to receiving a gift without strings. More is the pity."

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Yes." Adra replied then with a curt nod. "Strings." She said back to Miranda then. "People here always fear strings. Every time I see someone offered something, their eyes go to litlte slits and they stare like 'What are you going to do to me if I accept this kindness?'." Adrastea then shook her head in disbelief as she walked along. "This world treats its people so badly that they do not understand what true kindness even is." She added, glancing over toward Miranda. "I find it, saddening." She said in a softer tone of her accented English.

Adra then drew to a pause and she motioned her left hand toward a set of double doors. "Here, this is not sad." She said then before she pushed one of the doors open just a little to show the inside. It was a meeting room, large with tall windows draped in white sheer curtains. Inside the room were lots of children, all at the meeting table and all were working on projects and talking amongst each other. There are a few adults in the room too, including two more Amazonian women dressed in the same white/gold robes that Adra had on.

A moment of allowing Miranda to look inside, then the door was gently and quietly latched shut again. "A school class from a local school that receives very little funding. We let them bring a class here every week to spend the day here. "

Corusca has posed:
Miranda isn't quite sure what to make of the sight. So many children, ever so squishable, in one space made her a little squeamish. She peeked inside with a sort of awkward smile and a little wave at the little ones then let out a little sigh of relef from the lost tension she hadn't realized she suddenly had. "It's no wonder people don't understand you." She offered wanly. "Of course, when you grow up as I did, it's hard to trust as well. Many days I feel like the fresh meat wandering through the desert with vultures circling overhead just waiting to begin picking me over." She gives a dry laugh. "I apologize for the morbid humor there. The world of finance is very much the world of the hunter and the prey. Being as young as I am, the other.. monied people.. see me as weak and would like nothing more than to devour my wealth and spit me out. Or not spit me out. Either way as long as they get their hands on my money."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Adrastea started walking again with Miranda, they were drawing closer to a split in the hall up ahead that would go east and west, with further north leading into the courtyard at the heart of the Home.

"I... do not know what a vulture is... but a desert, I have seen images of those. They are fascinating. I would very much love to see such a place. I mean, we have sandy beaches where I come from... but nothing like a stretch of sand so far that there is nothing else on the horizon. That would be... hypnotizing, I believe."

She glanced back to Miranda then and smiled softly. "Money is a compass toward finding the greedy. This is what I have decided. You can quickly discover a lot about a person, when you put money at the center of their worlds."

Once they reached the split in the hallway and stood near the mouth of the courtyard, Adra would pause and look toward Miranda again. "We can continue through the Consulate or I can take you directly to the Princess' office, where she is currently residing over guests. Your choice, madam."

Corusca has posed:
"Carrion bird?" Miranda offers helpfully. "When an animal is close to death, they circle waiting to eat it?" There's a puzzlement on her face but she lets it pass. She's come to expect a certain... cloistered viewpoint. When Adra pauses, Miranda has to stop herself with a quickness yet somehow she keeps her poise. "I think I have seen what I came to see. If your Princess has time for me, I would love to speak with her."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Adrastea gently nodded her head at the summation of the bird. "Oh, I see... yes, I know what you mean now. I've seen paintings of those." She then exhaled and started walking again now toward the eastern hallway. "Come with me then." She said with a soft smile.

It only took a few more moments before Adra pushed open another set of dark wooden doors that lead into a reception area where Diana's receptionist was seated behind a large oak desk beneath a window to the outside world. The receptionist was on the phone, quietly speaking to someone. Adrastea lead Miranda through the room and to another set of doors... these she simply cracked one door open and looked inside, then opened it fully and went inside.

"Princess." She said to Diana who was behind her desk across the room. "A Miss Madsen has arrived to see you."

Diana would stand up from behind her desk, she was wearing a white sleeveless shirt that clung to her upper body and a black skirt that went down to just below her knees, her hair was done in a thick braid that fell down the back of her body to the small of her back. She stepped around her desk and walked toward Miranda and Adra. "Thank you, Adra." She said to the redhead. "Please, come in. It is a pleasure to have you here." Diana said then to their guest.

Corusca has posed:
Miranda offers Diana a deep nod. It is not a bow but something about her presence suggests she's not used to bowing to anyone.. or would be willing if she was. "Princess Diana. You are most gracious." Her smile is broad. "Adrastea has been a delightful guide through your embassy. I must say it is majestic.. and the work you are doing here? It truly does the reputation of your people credit." Her words flow like silk from her mouth as do her steps as she meets Diana at a conversant distance. "Thank you for seeing me."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana didn't require anyone to bow down to her and she simply offered, instead, a handshake with her right offered hand. "I am glad that you have enjoyed it so far." She said then with a true smile upon her red painted lips. Diana glanced over to Adrastea and offered her sister a smile as well. "This is why Adra is our Lead Tour Guide." She said to her sister with a little grin.

Adra seemed... unsure of this title, she even looked between Diana and Miranda. "I... uhm... yes, well, that, is certainly a title to be remembered." Adra then went to move toward the receptionist area once more. "I will be out here when you need me." She said to either of them.

Diana showed a small grin to Miranda after Adra stepped out and closed the door. "She is the most talkative of my Sisterkin who are here with us in the Consulate today. She's a very curious spirit, and is trying her hardest not to stand out in this strange world around her. She gets flustered often, sometimes frustrated."

Diana would then turn to go toward the lounge area in her office where leather sofas and chairs were gathered. "Have a seat." She offered. "Can I get you something to drink?"

Corusca has posed:
"Coffee?" Miranda suggests as if the notion were simply a way of keeping things cordial. She moved gracefully to a nearby chair and sat down, crossing her legs at the ankles and placing her hands into her lap. Clearly, she has had etiquette classes since childhood. "Adrastea is a delight. You are lucky to have her here I am sure." She smiled as the woman departed then refocused her attention to Diana. Her eyes took in Diana's poise, movements and form with a curiosity. "You are more than simply a Princess, I see. You speak like a true leader. Your people are spoken highly of.. at least among women and some men. Other men.. well.. their opinion is counted with me as I might the catch of the day. Quickly frozen lest they turn to stink." Her smile is demure but amusement twinkles in her eyes.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana had smiled softly at the ask for coffee and she went to fill the request at the small bar near the wall. She prepared two cups, though hers was filled with a lightly shaded tea and leon drink. "Oh..." She quietly said at the other's comments. "It is that they simply have not yet been given a situation, or position, in life to lead them to believe otherwise." She said as she turned and approached with the cups, offering Miranda's to her.

Diana would seat herself on the side of the sofa to the corner of the chair that Miranda took so they wouldn't have to be too terribly far from another for chatting. She smoothed her black skirt and sat down before crossing her legs as well. "I believe that all of us on this planet are capable of good and reasonable decisions, but we're shaped by so many outer elements that it is almost like a random roll of a dice how whe will end up in our adult years." She smiled faintly then, sipped her tea before continuing. "We simply need to be beacons of quality and hope that we can be a guiding light to others who may see our examples, and learn from them."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda listens to Diana speak and almost forgets the coffee in her hand. It steams before her wafting its aroma.. ignored. "You are positively remarkable, Princess. I don't know that I've ever heard those words spoken quite so vociferously." It's then that she lifts the cup to her lips and she drinks. Cup lowered again, she cants her head. "So.. what is it that you intend to do with this passion of yours?" She gestures about the room with her free hand. "The embassy is certainly a nice start but.. what manner of resources does your island have for such an outreach?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana shared a smile with Miranda after hearing the compliment about her outlook on life, or at least part of it. "My sisters call me an idealist." She replied then in a softer and quieter tone of voice. "Perhaps I am." She lifted her cup of lemon tea for another sip. "This sentiment extends to my homeland." She then told the other on the subject questioned of her and her kin. "The majority of Themyscira does not want a life involving the outsiders of this world. They... fear what they do not understand, and believe close ties will lead to the end of our society. This is why there is no open travel to the island. At least not as of yet. I am pushing to change that, but... it may yet take longer."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda blinks. "But.. why would you want to bring... this.." She gestures with a little irritation at a window. ".. to such an idyllic place? From what I understand, wealth is not valued in things but in beauty, art and.. not.." She reaches for her clutch and fishes out a fifty which she crinkles before her then tosses on the floor like it was some kind of sin to touch it. "That's what this world is, you know. One great hunt for wealth and power. He who has the most toys wins. And if it isn't toys, they want power over people." She sets aside her coffee for the moment. "So, fine, be idyllic. Fight for that principle. But.. bring the outside there? You.. would fear what I have come to understand." She exhales heavily then and looks out the window she just pointed at.

"Princess.." Miranda begins wearily. "I.. am not someone who easily believes in faerie tales. I had heard of your people and their lifestyle and.. am amazed that such a thing exists. For a long time.. maybe not that long.. long enough.." She shrugs. "I've looked for a place where money doesn't matter and people are accepting. Until now, I haven't found it on this Earth."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana listened and watched, she smiled faintly at the bill wadded up and tossed on the floor and she understood the words being said to her, even nodded softly once to them. "I believe..." She started, gathering herself a moment. "That a united world.. is a stronger world." She told Miranda then. "I do not believe, that a segmented, and isolated world.. is a world that will reach the levels of strength that it will need in order to preserve itself and its people. Themyscira, is isolated, and its segmented... But it is still apart of Earth as much as the United States is. As much as Africa or China or even North Korea." She glanced toward the same window that Miranad had gestured at.

"I do not think that I will change things over night, by no means. But that does... not... mean that I won't dedicate myself -to- trying to change it." She looked back to Miranda. "However long that I exist." And she sipped her tea again.

Corusca has posed:
Miranda squinted a little at Diana. "Yes well.. until /I/ am no longer hunted for my wealth? You'll forgive me if I remain skeptical." She snorted in an unladylike way. "Though I suppose I could just give it away. But doing so recklessly won't help anyone and will probably just make the problem worse. So. That brings me back to you, Princess." She picks up her coffee and drains it, hot or not, as if to get that formality out of the way. "How can I help /you/? Or your people. Either way, you seem to be a worthy cause."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana showed a soft smirk at the other's resonse to her and she tilted her head to the side a little while she stared at Miranda and listened to her request. "You are plagued by your wealth?" She asked then. "I am... afraid I do not follow this logic. I mean, forgive me, I believe you... I am simply trying to wrap my head around it." She said further. "You are looking to lessen the amount of money that is in your name...?" She had a curious look upon her face then. "That is something that is not hard to do in this world. Take the class of students we have in our meeting hall right this moment. They are using text books that are out of date, their school's computer lab is on unreliable internet services and machines from fifteen to twenty years ago. Their staff is underpaid and overworked. And this is just one of many cases like this throughout the entire eastern cities of the United States, let alone the rest of the country. Your money... can go to causes such as this. Let alone a wealth of others."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda waves a dismissive hand. "Done. You will have up to date textbooks and computers by the end of the week." Her fingertips drum on her knee. "I could do that a dozen times over, a hundred, but as you say there are thousands in need. So I have to be circumspect. Find causes. Support them. Find people who can multiply my efforts beyond just one trickle of wealth. Then I have to make sure not to overextend and make myself vulnerable to the vultures wanting to devour me because if I allow that then I can't help anyone now can I?" Her hands splay open before her palms up as she illustrates her point. "So yes, my wealth plagues me. I'm sure the poor wish they had this problem. I am not without a heart, Princess. I have merely been treated heartlessly."

Wonder Woman has posed:
"Which I can sympathize with you, I assure you." Diana said then as she stood up from the sofa and walked toward her desk once more. "I will set you up with contact information with the school so that you can work with them directly. There is no reason that I should be given any credit for a donation, if you are looking to make one." She told Miranda then as she set her tea down on her desk and took a seat on the edge of her desk's chair.

"You need to hire employees to work with you on these projects." She then said to Miranda. "Just a small team, interviewed by you... to get a 'feel' for what kind of people they are. Choose the right ones, and they will help you carry this burden. Help you find precisely where to release the steam-valve on the finances that you have managed to garner."

Diana took a moment to look over at Miranda. "What you are looking to do, is wonderful work... but do not try to bare it alone. Hire help, people will come to you... they will look to you to see this through, and you will find great satisfaction in doing so, in following through with this. It can be a very rewarding life to live."

Corusca has posed:
"Yes. Well. That seems to be my problem." Miranda notes dryly. "Which is why I think I've found what I'm looking for right here." There's a note of finality in her tone. Or at least that she seems to have made up her mind. "So I'd like to negotiate with you. You find me a few trustworthy souls. I fund not just my projects but a few of yours as well." She leans forward in her seat. "But on one condition. You get the credit." She smiles. "I don't like the limelight. I don't want people thanking me. I don't like newspapers. If I can do one thing with my money, it's buy some privacy." She gives a faint smile. "Fair?"

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana had spent a bit of time at her desk getting the contact information in order, but after hearing this from Miranda she stopped and turned her chair to face her from a few feet away at her desk. A moment later and Diana was smiling at Miranda. "What makes you believe that... I... like the limelight?" She asked then. "And please do not reference all the news papers and magazines... and internet articles, and Youtube videos. Those are all outside of my control. I swear it." She was teasing, it seemed that Wonder Woman had a sense of humor too.

"I will... make the necessary arrangements." She then finally said. "We have similar arrangements with other silent investors that feel the same way as you, so it is an area of experience, a road we have travelled." She said this with a final short dip of her chin in a small nod.

Corusca has posed:
"I didn't say you did." Miranda allows, leaning back into her chair again. "But it seems to have found you. Such is the burden of the title, I'm told." Her tone is dry and rather understanding all told. "But then that just means I was right about you and you can be trusted." She takes a deep breath. "But. If you have an email address, I'll forward you my contact information." She's fishing out her PDA, a google tablet, and swiping at it. "Also.." Now she looks up with a thoughtful cast on her face. "I was wondering if you minded a more or less regular visitation? I do like it here. I was not misleading you there. I'd like to visit Themyscira, one day, too. If that would be allowed. I'd like to see the myth and the legend in person. If it's anything like this, I'd probably never want to leave." She allows another smile and even winks.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana would turn part-way back to her desk to retrieve a small card with contact information for several different ways of reaching her and the Consulate itself. "Of course." She said to Miranda. "You will be welcome here with open arms." She replied, having picked that worldly saying up many years ago, it was actually one of her favorites. Diana would then turn and stand up once more from her chair, she'd walk back toward Miranda and offer the card toward the other before retaking her seat at the sofa where she'd been previously. "Themyscira is entirely within reach. So if you truly do wish to see it someday, perhaps we can make that happen to. My sisters will want to return sometime soon, I am sure of it. Some of them like it here more than others." She said that with a continued soft smile. "They are always eager to see home again though. As am I."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda rises from her chair as Diana approaches, accepting the card she gives it a glance then punches in the email into her pad. A swipe and.. her contact info is off to Diana. She tucks the padd and the card into her clutch. "Thank you, Princess. For your heart and for your discretion." She offers her hand again. "And for your generosity as well. This place is a breath of fresh air. Air I haven't breathed.." She takes a moment to think then shakes her head. "I think ever really. Maybe that's fatalistic of me but it's truth. All I can ask is that you don't disappoint. I would be.. disappointed." There's a dry laugh at that but she is sincere.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana would watch the other and would try to be as reassuring with her smile as she could be. "I will do everything in my power to ensure that I am not a disappointment to you. In fact... that has been my goal in life since I was very very young, to not ever disappoint anyone. So I will continue on that pathway, and simply add a little star next to your name to emphasize it that much more." She showed a grin then to Miranda. "And yes, feel free to come by here. You will be allowed to spend time throughout the building if you find it to be peaceful and a place to find comfort. The courtyard is particularly enjoyable, in my opinion. Much calming feelings reside within its embrace."

Corusca has posed:
Miranda laughs. "That's a rather high standard to live by. Be careful you don't develop a neurosis." There's a smirk there. "I know the family shrink would have loved to get into my head. I never let him and let him think I was just the petulant youth." There's a shrug at that. "He wasn't wrong.. but he also didn't get to read my diary." And no one likely will. "Well. I have likely kept you longer than a head of state ambassador or whetaver your official role is as a princess should be spending on a mere moneylender. Even if I'm not asking for interest."

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana showed a soft smile at these words. "Yes well... after three thousand years, I haven't developed a... neurosis as of yet. Maybe next year though." She then grinned a little and would stand up after Miranda said these other things. She'd offer her hand once again if Miranda wished to shake it. "Your donations will be greatly received. I hope that it helps you feel more comfortable in life. I get a great sense of discomfort in your heart, and that saddens me. So I truly hope this helps bring an end to that." She said then. "Adrastea will show you back out."

Corusca has posed:
That brings Miranda to pause. She'd shook the hand again and was all set to walk out and now she's frozen in place. Looking back, she cants her head. "I'm sorry. Did you just say three thousand years?" Now she's looking Diana over again. Head to toe. She sort of.. sniffs at the air even. "Okay. I just have one question. Are you a witch, wizard, warlock, sorceress or in any way shape or form a wielder of arcane magics." She gives little waggly fingers at Diana like hocus pocus style.

Wonder Woman has posed:
Diana was about to head to her desk but she stopped when the question came up and she smiled faintly, her head shook side to side once. "I am none of those things." She told her. "I am a child of the Gods. I was brought onto this world by the will of Zeus and by the desire of my mother." She wasn't the type to hide her... anything... she believed in full personal exposure. She had nothing to hide. "What... powers I do have, were granted to me by the very same Gods. Gifts to achieve my goals on this world."

Corusca has posed:
It takes Miranda a moment to process but then she nods. Completely accepting of the explanation. "That fits. Right. Well. That doesn't change anything in my books so I'll leave you to whatever it is you do with lots of time." To wit, she grins and gives Diana the proverbial salute, even if it is sloppy and vaguely whimsical. "I'll just have Adrastea show me out. Or.. to the courtyard. I haven't seen that yet and she did promise to show me. She's such a good tour guide after all." This time, she curtsies. But not out of mockery. It is most certainly whimsy. She is.. pleased.. by how things have gone.
