Coffee Run
Date of Scene: 12 August 2018
Location: Midtown Manhattan, New York City
Synopsis: 4 curious people meet in a coffee shop!
Cast of Characters: Thor, Kid, Mantis, Smart Alek

Thor has posed:
Midtown Manhattan just an hour before the rush sets in and the streets are filled with those mobile crowds and the staggeringly overrun streets. It's often a crazy mix of the purposefully hurried and those seeking to hunker down to weather the storm of humanity that has its sights deadset on getting to point B as fast as possible. It's the time with heads hunkered down and footsteps loud on the concrete walls of the skyscrapers, overwhelmed only by the traffic noise, the honking horns, and the occasional shouts.
But right now, in StarChunks Coffee just off 34th, there is calm. Oh there's a feeling of potential in the air as most of the people within have some idea of what's about to come. A palpable tension, but for the most part the barristas, the customers, the handful of woeful wannabe authors attempting to ply their trade in the booths, they're all at the least at ease. For now.
Behind the counter Debby Nordstrom leans upon it as she says sidelong to her co-worker, Gina. "Did Danny tell you about the prank call?"
    "No, what?"
Debby smirks and plays with one of her large earrings and looks towards the register. "Some guy called and was all like... gimme fifty lattes and junk."
    "Yeah?"
    "Yeah."
    "S'crazy."
"And he wanted like 50 bags of the Colombian Double Roast or something."
    "Yeah?"
    "Yeah."
    "S'crazy."
"Oh best part. He had this accent."

Kid has posed:
After FINALLY calming down (more or less), Kid was determined to be a sapiant gorilla of all things. A few talks between the consulant from Gorilla City and other factors...and Kid was finally FINALLY let out of his cell. He Hated cells.
But on the flipside, he now had to wear to kind of tracker/collar on his leg and was assigned a rather friendly Officer who was to make sure he didn't get into trouble. Officer Orion as he was called. Wanting to get some coffee and avoid too many questions, the officer brought him and Kid here to StarChunks, as he was a regular most time.
And so the disgruntled Gorilla and Officer walk in...needless to say, the sight drew more than a few wide eyeed and nervous looks.
"Alright Sage, yea just sit here und uh...not make a scene eh? Wanna anythin, banana bread or somethin?" Orion ask the Gorilla
Kid sighs. Banana bread was alright...but he knew the question was because he was a gorilla. He signs to him "Yea, banana bread sounds good...and some chocolate donutes...and some juice too"
"Damn you eat alot. But alright. Stay put" Orion says and gets into line, while Kid sits at an open table. The majority of people giving him a wide WIDE berth of space.

Mantis has posed:
Everything has a time and a place. Sometimes, there are those gifted with the ability to know those things in advance. Thus, her return to Earth had been chosen very carefully. Mantis had arrived in Central Park, using the vegetation there to create a new form for herself. Then a bit of telepathy and she was dressed in a simple blue sundress with thin straps and a pair of sandals. Despite a few looks, she had wandered the streets toward 34th.
Others could hear the noises and bustle. For her that was amplified since she could sense the emotions of others with the same blaring intensity as a flashing light or blasting horn. Most people were just ready to be home. It was interesting that most were happy with their lot, though a few of the disgruntled were in the mix.
The green skinned woman finally found the coffee shop she needed to be at. Otherwise, events would not unfold properly and she was all about not tampering with the futures she could see. Especially when they were here own.
She slipped inside and added herself to the queue, not really drawing much attention. She spotted the gorilla sitting nearby and had to smile a bit, realizing that was the reason. People were more shocked to see him than they were to see a green skinned woman with antennae on her head. She waited for her turn to order.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek walking along the sidewalk, he rubs his hand along the various windows as he walks.. his eyes search the ether, a small grin ever so often he pauses and then continues until he gets to the StarChunks. He peers inside and the Gorilla in the Room gets his attention. Always curious he enters the place and just sort of stares at Kid, he maintains his distance, "Hi. Umm, Your different right?" he glances around to the others in the room, "we're not all gorillas right?"

Thor has posed:
    "What'd Danny do?"
"Nuthin', he figured it was a prank."
At the arrival of Kid and the Officer, Debby and Gina perk up though their eyes assuredly widen. A glance is given one to the other, curiousity bright in their eyes as they look back towards Orion and his charge. Certainly it is not something one sees every day, but then again Mutant Town is just three blocks towards the river... so they've seen some things and some stuff. Debby, at the least, maintains her professionalism.
"Welcome to StarChunks, it'll be my pleasure to take your order today." She smiles even as her ears clink and click as she prepares to take his order upon the brightly lit picture-laden register key system.
Only for Gina to quickly tap her on the shoulder and gesture with a nod towards Mantis who now stands behind Officer Orion. It's not a light tap, however, it's more a rapid-fire thing as if to say silently, 'omg are you seeing this?' Yet again, Debby rises above it, rolling her shoulder to get her co-worker to stop bugging her, she seems ready to accept Orion's order, darn it.

Kid has posed:
Kid looks at Alek and signs towards him in a rather sarcastic manner "Really? I am? Had absolutely no clue. Why not just ask the other if there Rillas" he can be cutting as he growls. granted he was still wheeling from being caged. And it didn't take an empath to feel the aggression and rage Kid possessed.
Orion calls back "Sage, be nice" before looking to Debby "Hello mam. Can I get ummm...2 loaves of a banana bread, a dozen donutes, 4 apples juices. And that" he whispers "A couple cinnomon rolls" he glances behind him at Mantis "Huh, you guys must be super friendly if yea got mutant comming in here" though it didn't seem like he ment anything bad by it. He was rather freidnly and good natured.
Kid rolls his eyes "Right, well bugger, we met before. That all I gotta say" he glances to the Green lady with attenna..that was different for sure, but nothing weird...comparatively. Was rather nice to see.

Mantis has posed:
Most of the people are curious. A few are frightened but their need to see things overrides their flight instincts. But the gorilla is not happy at all. Mantis sees him moving his hands but has no idea what he is saying though she can recognize it is some form of communication. She considers learning the knowledge from him but that would be intrusive.
She waits her turn to order, glancing over at the angry gorilla and the young man talking to him. They are given a smile in greeting but her words are for the officer in front of her. "This one is not a mutant. Mores the pity. They are truly blessed with their gifts. Your charge is gifted as well. It is pleasing for this one to see." There is a serenity to her smile, a peacefulness about her.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek sighs as he sees the finger gestures, "ooh, we did this before. You were not a gorilla though right? Now you are? Umm, I'll just shut up. Nice meeting you again though. I think.." he heads over to the line for coffee behind Mantis, "You have a calm voice."

Thor has posed:
As Debby rings up the order, Gina /snaps/ into action, moving to fill the order almost as quick as the other young woman types it into place. The banana bread, the donuts, the juices... She then pauses there with her hands hovering over the small key pad and smiles so happily if vacantly at the law enforcement officer. Then he asks for the cinnamon rolls and she bobs her head, "Right away sir, will there be anything else?" She asks even as behind her Gina is putting each thing on the tray and then sliding it down to the 'Pick Up' area.
At Orion's comment, however, she blinks and leans to the side to espy Mantis. A moment her face goes blank but then it brightens up again with a smile as she twiddles fingers at the green woman. "Oh, of course, sir." She looks back at Orion as he mentions being alright with mutant customers and then she trills, "I mean, after all, everyone needs coffee!" And then she laughs, a hee-hee-hee sound that might seem a little disingenuous, for it was.

Kid has posed:
Kid snorts and sits back scratching his belly. Somedays he could be quite the hassel to deal with. Orion smiles at Mantis and says "Oh? Hmmm, actor in costume perhaps? Bah, doesn't much matter" he let out a deep laugh. He glances to Kid "...or cursed. Was a nightmare for the fellas to work on him." seeming to know something more "But it is all one world, people are people" seems the officer was one of the few who really didn't see difference, a gift of it own perhaps "Well your welcome to come join us if you want!" and he looks behind her to Alek "You as well, didn't even know the fello had friends!" A chuckle and he looks back to the cashier not seeming to even notice the fake attitude she was conveying "Indeed! But that is all, thank you" he even slides over his card to pay.

Mantis has posed:
"This one will. Thank you ever so much," Mantis replies to Orion. Then she glances to Alek. "This one has learned over time to embrace the quiet. It helps to focus and center oneself. This one recommends it to others." She gives him another of those serene smiles.
"Work on him?" Something catches her attention there as she looks to Orion before glancing to Kid. "Was he ill? Did he need surgery?" Outpouring concern in her expression and manner, for the gorilla, not those who worked on him.

Thor has posed:
The card is accepted but Debby does pause just in case the... green antenna woman does want to buy something on this other person's bill. She cocks an eyebrow curiously and somewhere deep in the recesses of her mind she curses the idea that she lives in a capitalistic world, but then her disgruntlement broadens a little further that she perhaps just wishes she lived in a world without coffee. But none of this is evident on her features as she waits there with that pleasant pasted-on smile.
Of course that's the moment when without, on the slightly more busy city streets of Manhattan there is a heavy roar of motion and movement that ends abruptly with a heavy /thud!/ of sound as if something's motion was suddenly arrested. Heavy enough to cause a manhole cover to bounce and clank in its housing as it's knocked partially into the air, and strong enough to cause enough of a jolt that sets off a series of car alarms up and down the street.
That steady cacophony continues for a time, though each alarm dying out with the double beep squawk of someone keying the all-clear on their keychain. But then, in that coffee shop, the bell in its door jangles again as the tall figure of Thor Odinson darkens the doorway.
Standing there in loose breeks and jerkin, heavy boots upon his feet, he looks less a thing from mythology than perhaps a day laborer as his features are haggard and marred with a smear of dirt and grime from whatever labors tasked him earlier. He steps through that threshold with a smile even as he places the heavy hammer in his hand upon its place at his hip, a faint /whom/ of sound coming from it as he moves inside.

Kid has posed:
"Very ill. Did you not hear? There was an outbreak of fear gas among other things. Riots in the streets and all that. Luckily some local heros, Flash and Power Girl manage to prevent it from getting out of hand" he gestures "Even with getting the proper medicine, fella took hours to calm and get additional treatment. Get enough emotion in him and it begins infecting others like some sort virus." he says pitying the gorilla "Doesn't matter if it fear, saddness, anger, or any other emotion. Thankfully it take a truely great amount"
Kid had gotten up to grab the tray of their food without much concern. However the sudden thud and call of alarms made him alert. He stood up tall, listening, anger replaced with curiosity...though it made him no less intimidating. As Thor walks in, he let out an unimpressed grunt and head back to his table clearly not thinking the guy is a big deal (kid's doesn't got much world experience) and plops back into his seat.
Orion on the other hand, has his eyes widen. "Oh lordy lord. It be the thunderer himself!" he exclaims "Well, now I KNOW I am visiting this shop for now on!" he even pulls out his phone wanting to get a picture of the Asgardian!

Mantis has posed:
"This one had not heard. This one has not been here for some time." Here being New York City perhaps. In reality, here was this planet at all.
The idea of emotion involved with Kid has Mantis playing closer attention to him until the noise outside has her turning her attention that direction. She alarms are loud then slowly silenced only for the door to chime and a figure that is familiar to step inside.
Her smile brightens as she feels the was of emotions from people in the shop. She steps out of line for the moment, getting lost in the press of people standing and using their phones to try and capture photos of the Avenger in their midst.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek is currently staring at his shoes now as he stands in line.. his eyes scan the floor, unphased by the rest of the room taking in the arrival of thor. He continues concentrating on the pattern of the floor.

Thor has posed:
Debby and Gina are wide-eyed as well, and Gina has time enough to whisper to her friend, "Ohmigod it always comes in threes."
Only for Debby to /slug/ her in the shoulder.
The car alarms continue to peter out with their sharp ba-beeps until the room is once again its own even as Thor saunters further in, his good eye shifted to he side as he lifts a hand to one of the patrons taking a quick picture of him, then over to Orion as he strolls in further. "I bid you greetings, good people." His voice is deep and resonant while he walks, his stride carrying him towards the line and then to the small rope barrier that's used as a suggestion as how the line should go.
The tall man doesn't look as much of the media in the past has made him out to be. There's the short blonde hair, the strapless eyepatch, the slightly more grim manner. But otherwise it's hard to mistake him. He gives a nod to Orion and thumps the man on the shoulder. "I am here but to take up mine order and deliver the gift of the coffee bean to my people."
At which point Debby and Gina look at each other with their eyes going wide and frantically grabbing each other by the arms, "Ohmigod!"
Then, as one, they turn to call out. "Danny get out here!"

Kid has posed:
Orion smiles wide and actually quite openly thumps Thor back "Haha! Well it is good to meet you in person!" he frowns "Real shame bout what happened to your home. But I do hope your people are settling in well?" he asks with sincerity. Didn't matter if Thor was a hero or a citizen, a lost home is a lost home in his eyes.
Kid thumps the table impatiantly, which only rouses the Stink Eye from Orion. Kid huffs and lays back agaist the booth again growling to himself. Orion shakes his head "Well, since it is a day of good things, your welcome to join me and these other stranger if yea got the time" mostly hoping to give Kid some good influence. Though Orion cannot help but look to Alek, ignoreing the fangirling down by the waters "You alright son?" he asks him

Mantis has posed:
"Strangers? This one is but a friend you had not met before," comes the voice of Mantis to Orion as she steps out of the crowd. Her antennae twitch in the direction of Thor as she gives a nod and smile in greeting. "This one is no stranger. Though you are much changed from our last meeting," she says to Thor as she steps to the counter. She doesn't look to the ladies behind it for now, as they summon the poor hapless Danny who might not have a job after this if he doesn't fix things.

Thor has posed:
"Your well wishes are a kindness, and I thank you for it." Thor then holds up a hand, "I shall be here but shortly, otherwise I would accept your kind offer."
From the backroom the voice of the assistant manager, Daniel Jacobs, is heard as he shouts back. "Did you guys hear that? Sounded like a truck fell over or something." But then he emerges, bespectacled features twisted with a hint of annoyance, "What's up? I was running last night's rece..." And that's when he sees the current state of his coffee shop. The standing people, the abrupt crowd, the green woman, the gorrillalad, and the... Avenger who is beaming happily at him for some reason.
    "Oh shit, it's Thor."
"Good day to you, Daniel. We spoke on the phone."
Debby reaches over and grabs Danny's arm and shakes him as she whispers quickly, "You said some guy named Denison prank called you!"
Shaken as he speaks, Danny looks over at her. "I thought that was his name Thoreau Denison... ohhh." Now that he says it aloud with the right context. "Oh man. Wait I got the order, wait!" He digs into a pocket and pulls out the note he wrote the order down on, then he hands it to Gina who makes an audible sound much like an, 'EEP!' as she starts to rush around to try and start filling it.
Danny, suddenly puts on his Mr. Manager face and says, "Forgive me, sir. There was some mix up with your order, we'll get right on it as quickly as possible."
To which Thor says, "Please, tis no matter. Take what time is needed." That said he turns and starts to move back in Orion's direction, clearly intending to take the man up on his invitation...
Only for Mantis to make herself known. His eyebrow furrows and he looks at her with a wide smile, "Mantis?" He grabs her by the shoulders and looks her in the eyes, "The last time I saw you was on Sakaar. What are you doing here!"
But for now cameras continue to click as cellphones record images and video even as one of the people in the coffee shop starts narrating for his phone.
"Aww man, that dude /messed/ up my man Thor's order! What's up with that!"

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek is addressed and he slowly pulls his attention to Orion, "Yes, I'm fine. I'm wierd, don't mind me. Just admiring the pattern of the floor. You helping out the big guy there?"

Kid has posed:
"Bah. Pumper Nickle, we're all a bit weird. But anyways I am Not quite helping him young Man. I am to make sure he does not cause trouble" Orion tells Alek quite seriously. Orion was friendly, but he did his duty. He looks between Thor, Mantis and Alek "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you folks. I am Officer Orion" he informs them with a simple smile. A smile that quickly fades "...Excuse me. Umm, again, you are welcomed to join us" oh lord
Some of the crowd in their over excitment have gotten a bit TOO close to Kid who was growing in irration quickly. That is untill he let out a very audible but short lived snarl. Some fall back, some jump back and glance between Kid and Thor as if expecting Thor to take care of Kid.
Orion quickly get between Kid and the people who aggreivated him "Sage, I told you, no growling or snarling at folks. Just, calm down and eat your food" he turns to the crowd "It alright folks...just go about your day." The officer wasn't red face and quite calm. He sat down and shimmied towards the wall indicating the invention was still open. Though folks attention were still on Thor and Co - they began keeping their distance once more.

Mantis has posed:
"This one felt it was time to return to Earth," Mantis says, like it's everyday that someone is returning to a planet. Nevermind that most people never get the chance to leave it. She had known that Thor would be arriving, thus her reason to be in this place at this time. In the future, there would be events that would...
But no. That was the future. It could not be spoken about thus she moved her focus back to the Asgardian as she gave him an actual brief hug, if he allowed it of course. "This one is pleased to see you though." She glances over at the counter. "Add a hot chai tea with extra chai to his order, please?" she requests politely before moving to the offered table with Orion and Kid already sitting there. No, she didn't ask. She just assumed Thor would pay for her chai.
She moves through the crowd with an ease, never brushing againt anyone in the room despite their press to get pictures of Thor. Then she settles almost daintily into her seat at the table.

Thor has posed:
Poor Gina was /rushing/ through putting together the order now along with the aid of Danny. Which, unfortunately, left Debby to not only take the orders but to fill them as quickly as she could which was not exactly her forte. But, to her credit, she was able to start filling the other orders even as she operated under this handicap of filling that request for so many lattes and for so many bags.
As Thor moves through the crowd with Mantis in tow it is likely going to be /quite/ a bit of time before she gets her order with Thor's. But that doesn't stop him from moving to the table with Orion and Kid. He pulls out a chair and gestures with one hand towards her, "Officer Orion," An air of formality enters his tone, "May I present to you the Lady Mantis of Sakaar. Former champion of the arena until I defeated her." He says that last a little faster than normal even as he then takes his seat once she does.
"Good day," A nod given to Kid, seemingly somewhat accepting of simians at the least.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek blinks as THor's voice does carry well to him, "Champion of Sakaar.." he looks to Mantis, "Congratulations. What is Sakaar?" he twists his neck a bit, "Unique Vibrations and Reflections here.. I like differences." he comments to noone in particular.

Kid has posed:
And Kid straight up flips Thor the bird. "Sage!" Orion says "Come on man, really? What is your problem?" of which Kid only sticks his tongue out before begining to eat the banana bread. Orion looks to Thor "Sorry about that. Dumb ape seems to have no concept of how to behave" the term was perhaps a bit unkind, but it was said more out of frustration. He looks to mantis and offers a hand shakes after she takes a seat "It is a pleasure to meet yea! Meetin two aliens in a day, how exciting! Used to stare at the stars all the time wondering but off world places"
Kid remains quiet as he eats. He didn't much seem to care about being referred to as a dumb ape. But something was bothering him. Though seemingly counter-active to his so far disrespectful and animalistic behavior was setting aside a juice for Alek.

Mantis has posed:
"This one was not defeated by you," comes the amused response from Mantis. She turns to answer Alek's question. "Sakaar is a world far from this, run by the Grandmaster. The Grandmaster had gladiatorial games for the amusement of the residents of that world. This one was the Grand Champion there." She turns to look at Thor pointedly. "Undefeated until this one chose to leave."
Her choice to leave was prompted by her battle with Thor. She had learned things of herself and her place there. That it was built on sand instead of a true foundation. It was time to move on.
Looking at her might make one wonder how she could be a combatant in gladiatorial games as she is built more like a dancer than a warrior. Though those with the right training might spot the callusses that give away some sort of martial arts training. But her carriage is one of peace, not aggression. The very opposite of Kid.
She considers sharing some of that peace with him but again, intrusive. Something that should not be given without asking first.

Thor has posed:
For a brief moment, Thor gives a glance towards Alek and considers the young man, one eyebrow quirking with curiousity. He does, however, look back to those at the table and lets his gaze return...
To Kid giving him the bird like something straight out of Any Which Way But Loose. His brow furrows and he looks sidelong towards Orion as the man takes the social bullet for the insult offered by the simian and so he responds. "It is nothing, I have seen such creatures in the past enact movements with which they have no true understanding as to their meaning." There, nice and defused right?
But then Thor steps in even as Mantis is talking and intersperses his words with hers as she speaks...
'This one was the Grand Champion there.'
"For a little bit." Thor says.
'Undefeated until this one chose to leave.'
    "Not true, wasn't even close."
But then he tries to press on as he turns to her, "But how did you get here? I would have heard if another ship arrived, most likely."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek orders a coffee at the counter, if he managed to put an order in as others have conversation as well. He waits for his coffee a slight nervous bowing motion seems to start, his eyes go to the giant gorilla, he signs <I looked up sign language again. You were different before, is this the real you? Your not dumb.>

Kid has posed:
Wait....did this man just IMPLY he doesn't understand what he was meaning. Oh. Hells. No. Kid temper just skyrockted than and there - and the effect was noticble as several patron were begining to become uncharataristicly impatient and short tempered with the people creating Thor's order, and even Orion's face was turning red from anger as Kid begins to sign "Why don't you shove that hammer"
Orion slams his hand on the table "That is enough. You /need/ to calm down now. You are not in a cage, or in danger, you are as Thor put it, among friends" even angered, Orion kept his wits. The officer looks to the other two still beat red as he comments "If there was another ship, I imagine people would be up in arms over it" as he rubs his eyes seeming confused
Kid is quiet but looked sign long towards Alek. He wasn't calm yet, he signs a curt "Yes. And I know. Think you can convince Officer jackass here to give me my watch back?"

Mantis has posed:
Mantis seems amused at Thor's antics instead of annoyed. Thus showing there is no animosity between them despite the fact they had fought in a death match against one another. The fact they were both alive was due to their skill in the fight. The Grandmaster wasn't stupid. He knew two champions were better than one.
Too bad they had not agreed with him.
At the flare from Kid, she feels it just like the others around her. Perhaps even more strongly due to her empathy. Yet, she doesn't ever show it. As the tempers flare, Mantis lets her mind open to those around her. The people in the crowd who are angry are suddenly just as calm as they had been moments before. Between her telepathy and empathy, it is simple enough. "Friend, this one would help ease your anger if you would allow this one?" she offers to Kid, giving him that same serene smile despite the spike of emotion she'd dealt with a moment before. Having full control of one's physical responses comes in handy.
She does respond to the question from Thor though. "This one's ship was destroyed along with this one's body. This one traveled here and recreated a body." Like she's discussing having breakfast or how good the coffee smells.

Thor has posed:
For Thor's part he seems mostly oblivious to things as his attention is a good part upon Mantis while Kid starts to seethe... and seethe. And then he starts to gesture angrily that Orion slams his hand on the table. And /that/ brings Thor's attention back to the other two there with them.
The Asgardian looks between them and he says with a nod, "Indeed, amongst friends. There is naught from which umbrage should be taken, save perhaps at the most the miscarriage of truth in Lady Mantis' words." He gives a single nod at that as if they all could agree with that.
But then Mantis becomes more... mystical as she speaks so openly about her talents and abilities. The helping Kid with his anger issues, he takes that in stride. But then she mentions her body being destroyed his brow furrows. "You can do that?" His eyebrows then lift as he accepts that ability and then he shakes his head, "So many wonders in the Nine Realms."

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek nods a bit, "Sir," he looks to "Officer Orion. He is unable to communicate with others easily without that nifty watch he had. Is there something else about the watch that you don't return it to him. If you think it is a dangerous I can look it over and see if it has anything odd about it." he shrugs, looking at the air above the officer's head mostly.

Kid has posed:
Officer Orion stares at Mantis, seeming to be just as surprised as Thor about her openess. But none the less he turns to address Alek and says "We are not sure what it is, only that he had it on him. we thought it best to keep it after a prior...incident" that has him shivering. "But, if it makes thing easier, very well.' he eyes Kid with a serious expression. He takes out the watch and hands it over to him.
Kid slides on the watch and turns a few dials on it as it starts up. He grunts and signs - an actual voice being heard "Thanks Alek. And god-damn stop calling me sage. Kid will do" he looks to Thor and signs "I know what I mean and what I say goldylocks...and what The hell you talking about Nine realms Vikin boy?" which is accompanied by a growl his aggression still not calming. He signing goes much quicker than the watches talking and he than looks to Mantis "...good luck." which is likely the closest he is going to get to a go ahead.
Kid though, able to again effectively communicate does seem calmer..a LITTLE calmer

Thor has posed:
Gina, all this time, has been bustling and rushing around making a rapid-fire assembly line of lattes and as she preps them she hands them off to Danny who is pushing them into the padded carrying container that they use for catering orders. Debby, meanwhile, is taking orders and trying to prep around them even as she snaps at them, "Try and stay out of my way, sheez!"
"Are you kidding, Deb? I'm not messing this up. You stay outta my way!"
It seems tensions are running high all over even as eventually... eventually, Danny's able to lift his voice. "Umm. Mr. Odinson?" He hefts the large cardboard box onto the counter, the 50 count of coffee beans all packed away and then on top of that he places the insulated carrier. "Your order's up."
Which is fortuitous for Thor is looking across the table then, attention drawn for the moment by Kid. He quirks an eyebrow, looks sidelong to the others at the table as if to gauge the sentiment of the others... And that is enough for Thor for the moment, "If you will excuse me," He says to each of those at the table. He turns back and moves to the counter, even while other customers keep filming and trying to get his attention. A teenager girl darts in quick and holds up her cellphone to steal a quick selfie that has Thor throwing up a peace sign as the light flashes. But then he hefts the packages and turns to head towards the door.
"We shall speak more, Officer Orion. You seem a man of noble purpose." That having been said he moves to the door, shouldering it open once he gets there. Across the way he calls to the green woman, "Mantis, make yourself useful." He says even as he gestures with a half-smirking nod towards one of the packages he contains. But then it's out the door he goes.

Mantis has posed:
At the words from Thor, Mantis gives a nod. "This one has many abilities. You still underestimate this one. Which is why you lost."
Then she looks over to Kid, reaching out a hand for his arm and letting her empathy flow into him. She isn't looking to force emotions on him nor to make him something he isn't. She simply tries to offer him some of that serenity, some peace and solace in a world that can be so unkind. "This one wishes you well, Kid," she says, using the name he had offered to Orion. "Seek peace and you shall find it." Her gaze goes to Alek and Orion as well as Kid. "A pleasure to meet you. This one hopes to see you again someday." It's actually a truthful statement.
Then she is rising to her feet with that graceful movement. She stops at the counter to help pick up a few of the crates although the bulk is left for Thor to deal with. Yet she is more than willing to help and catch up with her old friend. A moment later, she is out the door as well.

Kid has posed:
Orion looks worried "I wouldn't..." and than stares in surprise. Kid can be in someways a mirror to the world around him. He closes his eyes as he feels the serenity and peace....two emotions that were in many ways alien to him on even the best days. Kid signs calmly this time "....if only. But thanks" which is likely the calmest and nicest thing he has said since being introduced to the folks here.
Orion blinks but he doesn't question it, he looks to Thor "Good travels Thor and Manits...I also hope to see you again" he says with a small smile, before looking to the teenage boys infront of him.

Smart Alek has posed:
Alek shakes his head a bit, "well, it helped a little maybe?" he asks noone, he sips his coffee.. he blinks as the flash goes off, "Photons everywhere..." he eventually swivels his head back to Kid, "Umm, you okay? Can I sit? You beat me at chess when I was not looking, you like winning. I just like to play." He waves to Thor and Mantis as they go, "I think they are famous.."
