Ominous Tea Party
Date of Scene: 14 August 2018
Location: Starling
Synopsis: Dinah and Brooke get together for a chat. The gossip is on the fearsome side.
Cast of Characters: Black Canary, Yin

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake wanted to get to know Yin 'off the clock' so to speak, so one night, in lieu of patrol, she invited Yin to her home. A loft above Sherwood Florist. Her home is simple, as devoid of advanced technology as possible. The TV is flatscreen - but that's the newest thing. There's no computer. No cable box or satellite. She is reading through a newspaper (yes, they still exist somehow in 2026) waiting for her guest.

Yin has posed:
Brooke wanders in, a simple girl, dark skin and hair, soft. She drifts in without wasted effort, silent without trying to be. She slips up the stairs and drifts into the room quietly, looking around a bit and wondering if this will be yet another time when she should have kicked the ground to make a bit of expected noise.

After a few seconds, she moves a little bit closer and waves softly, "Hi.. You rang?" She adjusts a shoulder bag a little bit and smiles some.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake smiles as she sets down the newspaper. "Hello Brooke. I just thought we could spend some time together in a social setting - I needed some simple friendship." She sets the newspaper aside - the front page story has a picture of her and Oliver on it. "My life has been insane of late. Being the girlfriend of a billionare is NOT easy."

Yin has posed:
Brooke mmms and nods. "I can see how that would happen. I brought some Mediterranean to snack on, if you want. My diet does crazy things sometimes."

She considers, "I already ran my student into the ground. She's up to sparring and biofeedback, so less half marathons and more me beating the shit out of her on the mat so she can practice. It's all consentual and all."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake smiles softly. "Good. I haven't taught any students in a while. I'll get the vicarious thrill through you. I honestly don't know how to handle this current situation I'm in with... you know... Ollie."

Yin has posed:
Brooke drifts into a seat, tilting her head at you. "Oh? Which part of it? The sneaking around wrecking evil part, the paparazzi and mansions part, or the smoochy bits? Or is there something else even more confusing?" She pulls out a cooler jar and pours herself some chai, listening.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake shrugs. "I haven't been out as Canary in a while. Oliver made a point. When I was relatively nobody in my private life - a small business owner - it didn't matte what I looked like. Nobody connected the dots because I wasn't in the public eye. Now? If I went out as-is, someone would recognize me. My face is EVERYWHERE. I had to have a mask made." She isghs. "Just dating him has changed my entire life. Hopefully for the better."

Yin has posed:
Brooke nods. "There is that. I worry what to do to protect my family. A lot of people know who I am. I had tea the other day with the One Who Shall Not Be Named. That was a bit nerve wracking.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake raises an eyebrow. "'The One Who Shall Not Be Named'?" she asks, eyebrow rasied. "Have you been reading the Harry Potter series again?" She grins widely. "Oh - where _are_ my manners?" She steps away and brings you a cup of tea.

Yin has posed:
Brooke smiles and accepts the tea with a little bow, raising it to her nose, then her lips for a sip. "The reference was intended. But no, there's a terrifyingly good martial artist assassin out there who has opinions about proper practice. She wanted to see if my studio deserved a Michelin star, so to speak. I think she murdered somebody I know on the way out of town, but he was terminal already. It's kind of a mess." She frowns a bit.

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake sighs softly. "Shiva..." she whispers softly. "She's _here_?" She gulps audibly. "You never want to fight her. I don't wnat to fight her." She shivers softly. "Pray that you never see her again. I will be."

Yin has posed:
Brooke nods, "She stopped in to my studio. We drank tea and talked. I have a good idea about just how skilled she is, and I don't intend to pick any fights with her."

She sips more tea. "She seemed satisfied with what she heard, though, so that's something. Hopefully you don't have anything quite as crazy going on as that. I'm not going to compare anything."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake nods. "Well, let's hope she doesn't come back." She ponders. "I just have to figure out what I'm going to do with my Ollie situation. I really do like him, but my life won't be the same."

Yin has posed:
Brooke shrugs a little. "If he was an ordinary boyfriend, your life wouldn't be the same. Your life isn't the same as it was ten minutes ago. Things change. Try to make them change for the better. Will life be better with him? I would think he has more to worry about having the weirdly well equipped vigilante in town pick up a woman sidekick at the same time that he starts dating you. If anything, I'm running interference there."

She smiles a bit and sips a bit of tea. "For all I know, people are confusing you for Carrie."

Black Canary has posed:
Dinah Drake blinks. "Your student? Well - as long as I don't use my Cry when out of costume, hopefully nobody will associate me with Canary."

Yin has posed:
Brooke nods. "Hopefully. People can be stupid, or throw red herrings at themselves. We can figure things out later."
