Cast of Characters: Poison Ivy, Batman

Poison Ivy has posed:
Sunset. And Ivy's closing up shop for the night. She turns off the sprinkler system - and gives some special attention to the large cactus that's near the gate to her abode. The rose-scented perfume is ready to be made in larger quantities - she's starting a perfume and herbal medicine line. But as the plants go to slumber, so is Ivy as she snuggles down in the greenhouse on her garden, starting to drift off...

Batman has posed:
"Ivy."

The baritone voice slices through the still night air, pointed but impassive. The shadows seem to peel away from Batman without his moving a muscle, as though he has always been there and only now deciding to make himself known. His cape is wrapped about him, only adding to the cloak of obfuscating darkness he wears.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley jolts awake, staring at Batman's presence. How the hell did he get inside her fortified garden... oh right. Batman. "That's a good way to end up with several extremely long and barbed cactus thorns in your back," she mutters as she pulls her blanket up around her. "What do you want, and can't you wait for daytime hours?" she asks, yawning.

Batman has posed:
"Do I look like I wait for daytime hours?" Batman asks, taking a step forward out of the darkness to make himself a little easier to see. Perhaps presenting a clearer target as a show of trust? Or maybe it's just a distraction. He leaves a long pause before he speaks again, surveying the greenhouse carefully and weighing it against some inscrutable equation in his mind. When he speaks again at last, his tone has not changed ? deep, flat and vaguely menacing.

"I'm checking that you have everything you need."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley murmurs, "I have no complaints. I could use a web designer - starting a business website is surprisingly difficult." She yawns again as she slowly rises up, showing that she's wearing a green T-shirt and shorts as pajamas. "You could have knocked, you know. Nighttime isn't really my strong suit."

Batman has posed:
"It's mine," Batman answers, turning from his silent appraisal of the room to face Ivy fully. He considers her words for a second before adding, "What sort of business?" His cape remains drawn about him, and his head cast in such a way that the only thing of him not blanketed in shadow are the white eyes of his cowl.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley sighs softly. "After all this time, putting my college education to work. I'm making perfumes and medicines and cosmetics. Like I did all those years back in Wayne Enterprises... but on the right track this time. No hidden chemicals or the like. Maybe I want to try doing things honestly - and using some of the money to help fund ecological welfare." (She seems to have no idea that the very person who fired her from that job, the day that she transformed into Ivy, is right before her...)

Batman has posed:
"As long as you're choosing welfare over warfare, Ivy, I'm in your corner."

Even words of support seem to hold a note of menace coming from the Batman, and the way he holds Ivy in his sight for a drawn-out moment suggests there is no real trust there. But if that's the case, he keeps it to himself.

"If you need someone to help you, I'll arrange it. But they aren't meeting with you face to face, and I want to test these products of yours before you put them out in the world. If you cooperate, you'll get everything you need."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley sighs softly. "I'll be right back," she states as hse trudges over to the lab and brings back a tiny vial. "This is my rose perfume I've been working on. I was just about ready for mass-testing. And that's fine. I know that my seduction prowess has you worried."

Batman has posed:
"Your habit for controlling people's minds is what has me concerned," Batman answers, suddenly right there when Ivy turns about. He takes the vial in one gloved hand, tucking it away into his utility belt carefully, "You'll get it back once I know its safe."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley smiles. "That's not all of it. That's the first object I wish to sell. Perhaps one day you'll even trust me, Dark Knight." She slumps back down on her bed as she stares at you.

Batman has posed:
Batman follows quietly, his footsteps barely making a sound and even that seems intentional. He listens, and judging by his silence it seems as though he has nothing further to say. When he speaks up, the menacing edge of his voice is perhaps a softer. Maybe it's a trick of the mind. Maybe the night has been long and is starting to take its toll. Nevertheless, it may be detectable just beneath the surface: "The past can't just be forgotten. Whatever trust you want, you must earn. Earn it, and I'll give it freely."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley nods. "My efforts against the Gray have to have at least impressed you?" she asks. Her own tone is a bit odd - a mix of fatigue, hope, and... lust? It's no secret that Ivy has wanted Batman to be... a close friend... for a long time.

Batman has posed:
"It has," Batman admits, "I know you want to make a change. If I thought what you were doing was just a means to some end and not a desire to make a positive change, you wouldn't be here. I believe you, Ivy. I believe /in/ you. But it's a long road."

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley yawns softly. "Alright. I'm sure that you will be pleased with that vial. There's no hidden surprises in it - and it's the best reproduction of a rose's scent that you will ever smell. Even Wonder Woman was impressed."

Batman has posed:
Batman considers the words for a moment, deep in thought even if it does appear as though he is simply staring impassively, "Good. If it's what you say it is, you can start production straight away. There'll be a designer in touch to take care of the digital infrastructure. Is there anything else you need?"

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley nods. "For you to visit in the daytime. Plants sleep at night, and so do I." She smiles faintly. "Is there anythingelse you need from me?"

Batman has posed:
"No." Batman gestures past Ivy towards the laboratory, "Just keep working on what you're working on. I'll be in touch." As for returning in the daylight, he makes no such promises.

Poison Ivy has posed:
Pamela Isley sighs softly as she shakes her head. "Do me a favor and at least knock. I have defenses all throughout this garden for your own safety. Some of my experiments can be hazardous to human life. Like when I made that fungicide against the Gray invasion. As I said, you were seconds from getting cactus spines in the back.

Batman has posed:
If the words are heard, Batman makes no sign of responding to them. He was there one moment and then he isn't. He's Batman. He does that. Not long after, outside and above the gardens on a quiet rooftop, the Dark Knight takes pause. He reaches into his belt and produces two things. One, a length of red cloth emblazoned with a Kanji symbol. In the other hand, the small vial of rose perfume. He looks at both for a moment before a gunshot in the night draws his attention away. Both articles are swiftly concealed once again and he is off once more to fight the never-ending fight.
