night at the shelter
Date of Scene: 04 September 2018
Location: West Harlem, New York City
Synopsis: Summary needed
Cast of Characters: Zeitgeist (Julius), Breath, Mon-El

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
In West Harlem, a reclaimed warehouse has been transformed into a Shelter: 'New Hope Shelter' which just had a grand opening a few days ago. It's known to be a mutual meta and human joint establishment. It's known to have a few protestors on occasion. Tonight however it's a bit more action oriented. The sounds of shouting and of small explosions are heard from within.

Breath has posed:
Breath had come flying up her? white and blue clingy costume with skirt and domino mask and wanders a bit. Mail call. Dropping a couple of things off, picking a couple of things up. Or so was the plan, anyways. The noise on the other hand means a change of plans.

She noisily blows at the ground, descending on a pillar of air by the door and folding her wings as she comes in, then sucks in a vast breath of air noisily as she pokes her head around the corner. Ugh. She hopes the insurance is up to date on this place, since she might end up popping the windows out.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
The entrance however feels as if it's a brick wall, even though you can clearly look inside, an invisible force field of some kind is being projected across the doorway. Inside you can see a few fist fights, a few laser beams, and a few puffs of flame as some of the inhabitants are fighting individuals with masks. One man is currently being pulled by his captor towards a free floating 'portal' of some sort nearby. He manages to twist and bend and send a well placed hit to the groin of his kidnapper who let's go temporarily.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
The Warehouse has a flat metal roof with high windows (no skylights) that allow light to come down into the place. The windows in the front are also minimalistic though lower and some ability to see into the building is possible. The interior of the shelter is split up to four large rooms, with curtains used to seperate each of the flour rooms further.

Mon-El has posed:
The shouting and explosions, albeit small, are definitely heard by Mon-El, just as they would be heard from miles away by anyone of Kryptonian or Daxamite physiology. But Lar just happened to be in the area, so he's the one who shows up.

The New Hope Shelter is definitely something he could get behind, anyway. Encouraging humans, aliens, and metahumans to live peacefully together. It's one of the many good ways to kill all the race and species hate. No more 'us vs. them'.

So when the sound of trouble reaches Lar's senses, he quickly flies to the repurposed warehouse and starts by attempting to use his enhanced vision to peer through the walls of the building and assess the situation and see if anyone has been injured or killed thus far, and who or what the aggressors are. It would appear that another hero is also on site. Oh, yeah Breath--was it? He remembers her! She helped him a while ago, when he didn't remember who he was.

Breath has posed:
Breath frowns and looks at the projector. Covering the door. Hmph. Looks like she's going to be causing an insurance claim after all. Old warehouse, right. Hmmmm. She runs a couple of scenarios through her head, but, well.. She's no Amarok or Robin. Sadly.

She runs back away, opens her wings, then takes a blasting, flying lunge at one of the windows before at the window hard, hoping the glass and windowframe give out before she hits it! She's going to have to trust in speed and initiative to save the day, because she sure can't use stealth with HER abilities. Puhleease let there be space to maneuver in there.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
For Mon-El: Inside the Warehouse using your 'xray vision', you can see that there probably is about a dozen fellows who are dressed similarily, they seem to be brawling or attempting to grapple various people inside. Two of the Twelve have been laid out, one is smoldering and another seems to just be unconscious on the floor. There is a portal that is setup in the center of the building. One fellow seems to be guarding it, he's also seems to be holding a hand up to the front door as well, a glow coming off of his hands.

For Breath: The windows give out as he come through them, inside indeed there plenty of room to manuever, the room you enter appears to the be the dining area, there is about a dozen people how have used the tables to make up a barricade of sorts against a wall, they huddle down inside it... most of the noises are coming from deeper within the shelter from the hallway which leads to the sleeping quarters.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Zeitgeist comes running in from a nearby alleyway, the darkly clad and masked fellow is quick to grab the edge of the warehouse and pull himself into the window that was just broken open by Breath. He attempts to land nearby to Breath, "Their making enough noise huh?" the eyeless mask looks towards Breath.. "I sense that we have some forced recruitment happening here, there is something up that way." he points towards the hallway, "Portal of some kind to somewhere."

Mon-El has posed:
Lar's quick scan seems to reveal that no one is dead yet, although a couple of the aggressors appear to be knocked out. In shock, perhaps, but not dead. That's good. He contemplates intervening, but with the brawl going as it is, he might end up doing more damage than actually helping.

As he was floating there thinking, Breath breakes the windows, making things a little bit easier! As glass shatters, he zooms through one of them after the masked figure climbs through and attempts to use laser vision to destroy the portal and prevent them from getting away with any of the shelter residents...assuming that portal was their escape route. And hopefully without hurting or killing the guy guarding it.

Breath has posed:
Breath nods. The problem with relying on a blitz strategy is that you have to rush. "Right." She? moves to the door, then looks up at Mon-el. "Hey! Can you get their attention so I don't have to step out into a firing line?"

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
The Laser vision goes right through the portal into parts unknown.. somewhere just got a bit of taste of firey laser eyes. The man guarding it whose got line of sight to the front door, who has the glowing hands curses and the glow stops for a moment from one of hands and then it glows again. From barricaded people in the dining room, a lady steps out and runs up to the heroes, "They showed up out of nowhere.. some people already got dragged through.." they rushingly explain.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Within the Shelter, a few of the 'aggressors' have already broken off and started back into the hallway. The two unconscious ones are 'helped' towards the Portal by two of their comrades. (only Mon-El would see this)

Mon-El has posed:
As soon as Lar hears that some people have already been kidnapped, he drops down to the floor and confronts the perpetrators, attempting to get their attention by shouting for now. "I don't know who you people are, but you'd better leave these people alone and return those you've already captured to their homes. What have they done to you to deserve this?"

He picks up a cracked piece of metal cookware lying on the floor as a result of the struggle and crumples it into a ball as if it were made out of foil. Sorry whoever's favorite pot that was but he'd be happy to replace it um, later. But now that they've seen what he can do, maybe they'll retreat. "Right, so why don't you let all these people go home in peace before I have to actually hurt you."

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Maybe it was Mon-El, or maybe they are chickens to begin with, but quickly the dozen or so perpetrators jump into the portal (without any additional hostages). This leaves one the man with the portal there... He simply stands there in silence with that little rip in space-time. It goes completely quiet now.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Zeitgeist squints behind his mask, not that anyone can see it. "I don't know if it was lasers or the crushing but apparently they are leaving."

"I'm glad heroes do show up when they are needed even here."

Breath has posed:
Breath rushes past Mon-El over to the holdout and grabs at the gatekeeper. "Where did they go? Who are they?" Furious. Definitely going into 'Bad cop' territory. She glares and looks deep into his eyes. "Answer me, or I swear, I will blow you up like a cheap balloon." Yes, the threat might be gone, but having people grabbed by slavers or similar isn't a win in her books.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar watches as they suddenly all leave, but he still folds his arms and glares at the one who is left. "Did you not hear the part about returning the ones you caught back home?" he asks impatiently. "We know you already took some of these people, bring them back. Right now." he insists. He's not sure if Breath is serious about her threat, but if she tries to hurt anyone too seriously, he may have to put a stop to that.

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Sadly for Breath, she runs right into another one of these invisible walls in the hallway. The Portal guy steps forward into his own portal and 'poofs' away, the portal also closing as well with his disappearance. The wall that Breath bumped into suddenly gives way too, perhaps causing her to fall down if she was placing weight against it. Zeitgheist sighs as well, "At least they are indeed gone though.. with hostages, like you said. I think that was the goal of this.. they were all pretty single minded about grabbing powered folks."

Breath has posed:
Breath fumes. "UGH! Who did they grab? I'm sorry for the window." She looks around in frustration, having a bit of a personal irritation at losing people. "Is there anything I can do? I feel awful about not being able to help."

She slumps a bit. "Has anybody heard anything about these guys? I'd better look and see if they left any clues." She looks around some and frowns, straightening her skirt and hair and biting her lip a bit in thought.

Mon-El has posed:
Lar frowns as the man doesn't answer him and just disappears through the portal. He regrets not having simply tried to rush through himself and figure out what was on the other side. "Any idea who they were?" he asks, glancing at Zeigeist. "Or why they'd kidnap these people?"

Zeitgeist (Julius) has posed:
Zeitgeist says, "Only thought they were having was 'Grab Metahumans. They didn't spend alot more energy thinking much else but when they fought against them. I'm gonna have to do some concentration on tracking them if they reappear in the city. The missing people's names are 'William, John, and Debbie'." He finishes the blur out of information, "Sorry, I'm known as Zeitgiest.. I sense happenings in the city, keep track of crime, and generally have a sense of the well being of the city. I got sidetracked by another disturbance before this one happened, I'm usually here most of my time so obviously whoever it was known my own patterns.""
