Unusual Behavior
Date of Scene: 21 September 2018
Location: Xavier's School - Back Yard
Synopsis: Mason eats Limestone. It has some interesting results.
Cast of Characters: Mason Steele, Cyclops, Rage

Mason Steele has posed:
It's lunch time at Xavier's. While most students are eating in the dining area, Mason has snuck out to the back yard for what he wants to eat. He keeps his dietary habits of rocks to himself most of the time, so he doesn't make a deal about it. He didn't come back inside, however, when it was time for classes to start again. Instead, he's in the back yard, and wanders around like a four year old with his arms out, as if he's an airplane. Not usual behavior for a young man of his age.

Cyclops has posed:
Not having any classes after lunch, Scott generally takes that time to wander the halls of the Institute as well as a quick walk to the lake for some zen time before returning to the chaos of the classroom. Today is no exception. Once the halls are empty and the students return to their studies, the door to the back yard opens and Scott steps out into the warm air.

Once he steps out, he closes his eyes for a moment and inclines his head to soak in a few moments of the sun. Letting out a long, quiet exhale, he lowers his head once more and opens his eyes to see something out of the corner of his vision. Turning, he sees Mason playing 'airplane' like a child. A single brow lifts just over his visor as he pauses to watch for a moment. If he did it for a second that would be one thing. But it just keeps going. The brow disappears and is replaced by a furrow as he steps towards Mason.

Rage has posed:
Having had lunch in the cafeteria with a throng of friends, Andrea, the popular girl of the school seems to be missing a member of her posse. Mason. So after sneaking out from the table of chattery students, she heads out into the backyard. Today she's wearing a pair of shorts and a sleeveless tank top with a wind breaker tied about her waist. As she steps out to stand next to Scott, she furrows her brows at the sight of Mason. ".. What's he doing?" She asks as she glances up at her teacher.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason seems oblivious to his audience. He continues, and as Scott gets closer, it can be heard that he is making airplane noises as well. He sees Andrea and Scott, and seems to assume they are part of the game. "Hi down there!" he calls to them with a wave, then continues.
"Oh no!" He makes a sputtering noise. "Engine failure!" He tilts, turning toward the ground and plants head first into the ground. The earth seems to swallow his head, and he ends up with his head buried, body bent at a 90 degree angle.

Cyclops has posed:
When Andrea shows up and expresses an equal amount of confusion at Mason's behavior, Scott becomes concerned. His jaw tightens as it clenches, watching Mason dive bomb into the ground. His first inclination is that the kid could be under the influence of some substance.

Glancing back over to Andrea, he folds his arms across his chest, "You'd tell me if he was on something." He knows Mason is a little wayward in his behavior because of his fame, but he doesn't expect him to be the kind to use drugs. He looks back over to Mason, "Having a good day, Mr. Steele?"

Rage has posed:
"Um ... if I knew he was on something I'd tell you. I mean, we smoke weed casually together but I made it clear nothing harder than that." Andrea says with a frown as she follows after him. "He isn't gonna suffocate himself is he?" She asks in a worried tone.

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason slowly rolls over, leaving a head shaped hole in the yard. His face is covered with dirt now, and his blond hair is going to need to be showered. "I'm an ostrich," he tells Scott. "We're dangerous, better not come to close. I was digging for a klondike bar. Oh hi, Andrea, you wanna be an ostrich with me?" he asks. He flops out on his back spread eagle, and looks at the sky. "Ever wonder what the sky tastes like? I bet it's like Mountain Dew Voltage."

Cyclops has posed:
When Mason finally emerges from his head-shaped hole in the ground, Scott steps over to the kid and kneels down beside him and studies him for a moment. He doesn't smell like marijuana. Not that Scott would know what that smells like of course.

Resting his forearms over his knees as he kneels, he sits in silence for a moment before speaking, "Mason, have you taken anything you wouldn't have ordinarily taken today?"

Mason Steele has posed:
The dirty-faced young man gives an oblivous look back at Scott. "Nah I feel great. Just enjoying the mountain dew air." He reaches out to grab Scott's arm, pulling on him to lay down. "It's nice, Andy, it's nice, you come here too, we can lay on the ground, it tastes great. Like...chocolate. Or NUUUUtella.

Cyclops has posed:
Scott sits firmly in place as Mason lazily tugs on his arm to get him to lie down and taste the sky with him. He glances up at Andrea, "We may need to get him down to the infirmary to have him checked out." He turns back to look at Mason peering up at the sky like he's never seen anything like it before, "Whatever he's on there's something they can give him to bring him down."

Rage has posed:
There is a look of disappointment in Andrea's eyes. "Um.. he eats rocks. It's sorta his thing he does with his powers. Maybe he ate a bad one?"

Mason Steele has posed:
Mason laughs, "What? I didn't take anything," he says. "I'm just happy. He reaches out, pulling up a small limestone from the decorative trim of the bushes. "And these..." he shakes the rock lightly. "Are...like, the best ever." He takes a bite out of it. "So good," he mutters, around the mouthful, a loud crunching heard from his jaw as he bites the stone. "I don't know why I haven't tried them before. I just can't get enough of'em."
He sits up., and hands the remainder to Andrea. "Here, try it," he offers, apparently forgetting that other people neither can nor want to eat rocks.

Cyclops has posed:
When Mason reaches for another stone from the landscaping, he reaches out and snags it from his hand after he takes a bite. He wasn't privvy to Mason's appetite for geological materials and grimaces as he expects to hear the sound of teeth shattering. But when Mason begins to chew the rock easily and he looks down at the rock to see a clean bite taken out of it his eyebrows arch and his mouth opens slightly out of disbelief.

"He eats rocks?" he says as he looks over his shoulder at Andrea again. Not necessarily asking her the question as much as he's stating something that sounds insane coming from his mouth. "These are probably covered in chemicals," he says as he stuffs the stone into his pocket and reaches down to hook his hand under Mason's shoulder to try to pick him up into a sitting position, "You definitely need to go to the infirmary."

Rage has posed:
"Yeah, I just found out myself. No one else knows but me. It's our secret. He eats rocks. Gets the urge to like we'd get the urge to eat chips. So.. he... eats them..." Andrea says as she lets out a sigh. "I don't talk about it with him because he got super mad last time .. then insulted my music... so it's a touchy subject." Seems like she has trouble getting over that night. She steps forward to help Scott out, sliding Mason's other arm around her shoulders. "Maybe some rocks act like .. I dunno, mushrooms or whatever. I've never seen him like this."

Mason Steele has posed:
"I'm right Heeere," Mason responds, looking back at the confiscated rock sadly. "Hey..." he inspecifically protests. "Don't judge, they taste good. Don't got chemicals. It's limestone, not even that hard to bite." He lets the two hoist their arms around him, then leans over to give a lazy and overt kiss on Andrea's cheek. "You're great," he says, "Such a good girlfriend." He gives a stupid smile at her, then looks over to Scott. "You too," he says, and leans in, as if he's about to give him a similar kiss on the cheek.

Cyclops has posed:
While Scott is flattered that he's such a good girlfriend, he pulls his head back and manages to avoid the kiss to his cheek. Once he and Andrea have Mason lifted up off the ground, he ducks down under Mason's arm and drapes it around his neck so he can hold the kid up comfortably on his own.

"I'll take him down to the infirmary. I would say you can head back inside to finish your lunch or head back to class but I'm guessing you'd like to stay with him," he says nodding over to Andrea as he helps Mason towards the mansion.

Rage has posed:
"I know I'm a good girlfriend. You should be lucky I put up with like a tenth of this crap." Andrea grunts out after the kiss, though she gives him a half hug about the waist as well. "Yeah, I'll go with you. I don't have anything else to do but listen to gossip about who likes who in the celebrity world. Everyone treats me like a gossip wikipedia, like I'm supposed to know everyone in Hollywood and who they're hooking up with." She laughs.

Mason Steele has posed:
"I feel fine," he says. He's heavy for his size, dense. "I just want to have fun, okay?" Mason stands with assistance, but then pulls his arms away from Scott to stand on his own. "I'm not crippled," he contests, moving to wrap himself around Andrea. "You can carry me if you want, though," he tells her.

Cyclops has posed:
"Listen Mason, I understand that what you're feeling right now is probably excellent," Scott says as he reaches out to catch Mason before he's able to collapse onto Andrea and likely send them both to the ground. He's surprised at how heavy the kid is and finds himself having to plant his feet to keep from being dragged along with him.

"The problem is you're clearly affected by whatever is in the limestone and maybe by lawncare chemicals or pest repellents. So you're going to get checked out," he says with a more stern tone. He supposes this is what it's like being the designated driver and having to babysit the drunks. If he went out on party night.

Rage has posed:
"Oof. Geezus, how many rocks you eat today? A whole fucking boulder?" Andrea says as she lets an F word slip out as she feels Mason rock into her. She pushes back into him, giving him a bit of a tug for the mansion. "If you want me to carry you, I'm gonna wolf out and do it that way, but you won't like being flung over my shoulder. Come on, let's get you detoxicated. I swear, if you used this as a way to get out of your math tutoring I'm gonna be so lit."

Mason Steele has posed:
"Then you gotta get me the list of those chemicals, cuz they are da shit." Mason gives out a laugh as Scott pulls him back. "Lemme get a couple more of those before we go," he says, glancing around behind himself, looking back at the limestones on the ground. "Just like three more. They have like, minerals and stuff."

Cyclops has posed:
"Language," Scott says with a slight grunt as he uses his momentum to keep Mason moving in the right direction even as he tries to twist around in their grasp to go back for a few more pieces of stone from the landscaping. He knows Andrea slipped up in the heat of the moment but he's a teacher and a role model after all.

Finally reaching the door, Scott manages to tug it open and tries to direct Mason inside, which he recognizes won't be easy considering he can't fit through at the same time as Mason. He half expects the kid to make a run for it while Scott's grip on him loosens. "We'll bring you some once you get settled in to the infirmary, how's that?"

Rage has posed:
There is a loud snort from Andrea, "You may not wanna hear my new album then. It's full of F bombs." Andrea smirks in amusement as she trudges along with the pair of them. "You're gonna get some water and maybe some sugar in you to balance this out. Then we're gonna have a talk about this rock eating thing later." SHe mutters to him. She curls her arms around him from behind as Scott loosens his hold, then pushes him through the door after the teacher. "I'm sure he didn't do this on purpose." She says to her teacher.

Mason Steele has posed:
"So handsy," Mason comments as he's pushed through the door. He doesn't fight, really. "I like it, it's not bad. I figure it's like needing vitamins. You know? I mean, you wouldn't stop me eating vitamins. As they walk down the hall, he spontaneously reaches out and plucks one of the paintings up off it's hook to carry with him. "Hey, this is really nice. Let's take it with us to contemplate, it's boring in the infirmiry."

Cyclops has posed:
At this point, Scott just wants to get Mason checked out. Even if it means he has to drag half of the mansion's decorations with him. It can always be replaced after he comes down and crashes, assuming that's even going to happen.

Looking over at the painting he does his best to be encouraging instead of antagonistic with the hopes that it makes the rest of the walk easier for all of them, "Very, very interesting painting, Mason." He doesn't look at it long enough to actually see what the painting is, he was just making sure Mason didn't try to take a bite out of it or damage it. "Tell me about it." Just keep the kid's attention on something.

Mason Steele has posed:
"Well, I mean..."Mason tilts it back and forth. "That dog's eyes are like, watching me, wherever I turn it. You know?" He walks into the infirmiry. "Okay, the nurse can do her thing, let me know when she wants me to turn my head and cough, okay?" he waggles his eyebrows, putting the painting down against the wall.
"You guys are making a big deal out of nothing, though," he says. "I'm fine, you'll see."

Indeed, after all is said and done, Mason didn't have any fresh chemicals in his blood. It seems that limestone has a certain interaction with him, and makes him loopy. Good to know that he has a drug he can access virtually anywhere in the US for almost nothing.
